SURGERY APRIL 2018

Sally pleased went as well as it could go today. Good news re no PICC line. Cold cap - first 15 mins are not good - need to plan distraction. Once you get through this it’s not too bad. Take a hat to wear home as your hair will not be great!
Great news wound is at last healing.
It’s not a great thing to have to go through but I know it’s for the best long term for both of us. Big knickers at the ready for Friday. We’re with you all the way. Xx

Cheers Jem,

A hot flush at the right time may come in handy Friday cos nothing cools me down when I’m having them!!

Sally

Hi all. 1 rads down 19 to go!! All went fine but do have a strange feeling in boob or could be sycological. Boob area only and not node area so fingers crossed no sore pits. Lovely team and as previous no gowns left. Didn’t bother me as had my boobs out that many times recently it was a breeze. Met others on same journey and newbies also. All next 19 are 16:00 and after as open till 8 so parking should be fine and 10 mins drive to hospital.

Jem hope all going ok!!
Feenix. Hope your appointment went ok
Sally hope last week went ok. When do you start chemo?
Fairy dust. Hot flushes is this from tabs? Which are you on.

Have a good week all and speak soon. X

Gill - well done 1 :white_check_mark:, thanks for keeping us out of zapping range?. Back to taking 1 day at a time.
Good day for me today. Had a governor meeting at school - good to get grey matter working. Thinking I need to plan something good for family over weekend as feeling good- ? Breakfast on the beach or cycling in the New Forest- it’s flat and beautiful .
Have a good evening all
Jem xx

Hi Gill,

First chemo Friday. Back at this week which has made a nice change.

Sally

With you all the way today Sally, thinking of you. Good luck with cold cap and the rest. Take care love Jem ?

Good luck for today Sally xx

So far so good, 45 more minutes before I can get the cold cap off!

Sally wow you did it 1 :white_check_mark:off. Impressed you stuck with cold cap - hope you’re doing Ok. Now is time to drink lots and lots of water, relax, sleep and box sets.
I’ve had such a good week feeling sad that this won’t last as cycle 2 starts on Tuesday. However chemo so far not as bad as expected, not great but doable .
Feenix- when is your results day planned for next week?
Hugs to you all xx

Well done Sally and on the cold cap also. Have a good weekend and relax. I have just got back from zap 3 in and out in less than 10 mins pretty good. Told the staff that on my next charity do I am going to buy them some lady gowns as they hardly have any and having to wear the wonderful gowns we had to wear to go to surgery. One on wrong way one on right. Lovely. So I am now slowly starting to cook but feel absolutely fine. Do any of you ladies have gel nail? Not false using own nail. I do my own and have all the kit and wanting to do my nails but darent in case I am doing wrong. I don’t clip cuticles so no chance of infection etc etc. I do use a uv lamp on them. Just wondering do I do it do I not? Hope you lovelies have a good weekend and hope the sunshine’s but will be in the shade and factor 30. Jem hope you had a good day and all went well at school. Feenix can’t remember when your appointment is but something tells me it is today but probably wrong. Have you had dressings removed yet?
Toodles for now all.

Gill 3✅- 10 minutes must be a record ?
Hoping all enjoy the weekend, Sally hoping SE minimal.
Xx

Hi,

Marathon day at hospital starting with physio at 8, coffee, then on to chemo. The first 15 minutes with the cold cap I wanted to rip it off but after that for the next 4 hours and 15 minutes it was fine, just felt heavy and uncomfortable but not especially cold. The other lady having a cold cap was on her third cycle of Taxol and hasn’t lost any hair at all or had any side effects. She said she forgot to take her anti sickness meds last time and was still fine! I want to be her when I’m on Taxol!

Finally left hospital at 3.30! Still feeling good but still going to let the husband cook my dinner…if it’s edible. The first reddy/orange wee was a bit strange.

Have a good weekend all.

Sally

Hi feenix yes on the gowns. Pale purple with poppers/Velcro on the shoulders so just undo whichever side Being treated and other boob remains covered plus is pretty thick so makes it a bit more comfortable whilst lying on the metal table which has holes all over it and end up with a back looking like a tennis racquet. The girls told me they buy them out of the donations given in the tin that is on reception. As with the new machine they are purchasing all done by staff doing ski diving, bike rides etc etc. Sad really but most departments are the same I would think.

Well done Sally. Glad all went ok for you and hope it stays that way
Take care

Hi
Sally - just read your post in June chemo- you are racking up those hospital hours!! We should keep a record each!! I think that the lowest hours should win. But seriously sorry you ended up at A& E- hope they treated you better than my experience.
How is everyone this weekend? Gill - happy to have a few days off. Feenix - which day for results ? Fairy Dust - how are hormone tablets going?
Had a family bike ride yesterday - it was lovely to be out- a disused railway track so easier than roads with 3 children! It was only 8 miles but was pleased I could do. Hubbie trying to fatten me up as lost more weight?. But I am really distressed as loosing quite a bit of hair over last couple of days- no one can tell but really struggling with it. Of all the things we’ve been through and going through why am I so upset by this? Think it’s because I’ve not told many people about my diagnosis or treatment and now feel I’m going to be a prisoner at home- sorry just feeling really awful today, whilst at the same time being Mummy.
Back to hospital for bloods and assessment tomorrow and then cycle 2 starts on Tuesday. On positive I can :white_check_mark:of 1 cycle.
Sorry for moaning

Jem sorry your not having a brilliant day and don’t worry in bit about Moaning. We re women we are allowed to ?. Hoping you don’t lose to much more hair. This may slow down after next treatment? Good job with hubby feeding you up. Need your strength mrs so go get some some carbs and just eat eat eat. Your bike ride sounds lovely. I have a bike in the shed but have to do main roads which are busy. I like going for a walk along our river which w relive right next to and when it floods we are in it sometimes but never been in the house yet. However there are horses in the field and when you go in an start to walk you can feel the ground vibrating as they come galloping across to you so don’t do that any more as they scareto **** out of me. Can only imagine how you ar feeling and I am sure I would be just the same. As you say all we have been through and going throw then having to cope with this. Sure cannot be easy for you. But you know? You will do it I am sure. Hope all goes well Monday then again on Tuesday, and another :white_check_mark:. I would imagine I will start to cook over the next week but day by day and nothing more. It is slightly noticeable now so expecting to start to glow as the days go by.
Sally what a nightmare bet your knackered. Hope you are rested and feeling ok and not to many se,s. Well Monday tomorrow and another week to face and get through and we all will so stay strong everybody. Have a good evening x.

Morning all,

After Friday night drama (wish I’d just gone to bed instead of calling the hospital) had a good weekend. Got pretty tired a few times but that would have happened without the chemo if I’d been up till nearly 4am.

Getting ready for work. Normally I’d be there about now but with tablets and injections and not eating for 60 minutes after this one and insulin for my diabetes, my morning regime got long so I’ll get a later train after the main rush hour and get in about 10.

Jem don’t worry about wobbles. More than once I’ve been tempted to say @@@@ it and not have treatment cos the thought of it was more than I can be doing with. Now I’ve started though it’s so much less trouble than I thought it would be.

All I have to do is keep tweaking the insulin now cos the steroids are playing havoc with my levels.

Have a good day all.

Sally

Morning

Sally …pleased you had a good weekend after your A&e visit. Have a good work day.

Jem … Bike ride sounded good… I’m like Gill, my bike is in shed (could do with a lighter model). Having a moan is good … gets the angst out. You’ve got a busy couple of days, hope your weight stabilises. Hope your arm is improving and cold cap keep working for you.

Gill… hope the zaps go ok this week.

sun is shining today … hope it lasts

xx

Hi good day at work.

Did 9,45 to 3.10 which meant leaving at 8.40, home at 4.30 but doable. They are happy for me to do those hours if I’m able but said not to knock myself out and if I’m knackered just don’t go in or say so and go home, so that’s good.

Sally.

Well done Sally. Take each day as it comes. You will know what you can do and can’t do. Day 4 of rads today and what a game. One machine down which was mine so we had to be slotted Into the other machines so running 1 hour behind. Also ache all over after this one as seemed to take forever measuring and zapping. So took it out on arms, neck and shoulder even with painkillers. Fingers were tingling and going numb. But onwards to tomorrow with a few more arm excersise in the hope it helps.

Hope everybody has had a good day
