First time round as soon as rads finished it was normal service resumed for me…except we didn’t go to Cornwall that year cos we’d have gone a week or two after and I was told I might not be up to it. We’ll, I bloody well was but it was too late to book then!
Gill that special nds positive - go girl. I agree Sally you are amazing. Hope today has been good- been busy so here with children but lovely to be with them?. Finished shed the day off with walk to the sea and 19 swans were there- perfect- need all the positive endorphins ahead of tomorrow. Saw consultant today- we now have a plan to minimise se?. I’ve also put on another 1.4kg? only .5kg to get to my pre chemo weight - never been happy at putting on weight! Still over a stone lighter than before dx- sure tamoxifen might sort that!!?
When is Feenix surgery? Do you remember those stressful awful days leading up to surgery?
Hugs Jem xx
Arm is ok-ish though I have cording in the chemo one which is quite painful at times but manageable. Since I have been on the blood thinners, combined with the heat, my energy levels have hit rock bottom though. By the time I get to the bus stop in the morning I’m a sweaty, shakey mess. I think the injections have made me anaemic. The heat is also killing me. Spraying the bed with cold water and laying on top of it helps.
Feenix and Sally sorry you’re struggling with the heat- the heat doesn’t usually bother me but this year combo of chemo and heat not good. Portable air con used a lot at the mo- we move it round bedrooms to cool down.
Feenix when is op? Thinking of you- pop those big pants on and we’re with you, don’t squash us though .
Cycle 4 - was up at 4am terrified of new drug- but no allergic reaction ?, quicker, cold cap for 2 hours instead of 4- 5 1/2 hours on the fec drugs . No swimmy head today?but v v tired. Children went to local farm to pick ? with grandparents - I came home to a lovely vase full?. Here’s hoping for no se for me.
Hugs to you all ??
Hi I’m better today thanks now that it’s finally cooler. Had a massive hypo the other night cos the heat affects the insulin absorption. I couldn’t keep my blood sugars up despite having a really naughty carby day and not taking evening insulin at all. I can cope with the chemo, or the heat or the diabetes but the combination of the three wiped me out completely.
A bit fresher today on account of a massive thunderstorm at 5am. Not sure if it was the thunder or the dog trying to get in the drawer under my bed that woke me up.
Hi Sally and Feenix (& Gill)
Sally hope you’ve got through the day after early wake up. Are you working this week? How many cycles left- new drug on Friday? Is this one weekly?
Feenix- kept upto date with you on May thread- sorry about the panic arrack - such a stressful time you are going through - hope today has been better for you. Is it Fri your op?
Tonsillitis has just wiped me out- slept for most of the last few days . Eating is a little less painful, but anti biotics have given me diarrhoea ?. In the past when I’ve had tonsillitis this badly I’ve lost 1/2 stone - really really could do without this as I’ve worked so hard at putting on a little bit each cycle- I know it sounds unusual to moan about weight loss but it’s a daily battle with me at the mo.
Friends and family have kicked in with helping with chn- they came back this afternoon from crabbing and paddling absolutely soaked but happy.
Take care xx
I’m so much better now it’s cooled down a bit. Taxol starts this week weekly for 12 weeks which means I’ll be down to 4 day weeks at work. I’ve dome ok since I’ve started chemo which is 9 weeks nearly apart from chemo days I’ve only missed 2 days at work which was when I was at hospital for the blood clot and the day after when I had an upset stomach whilst getting used to the injections. Not bad going. Hope the next lot are as easy to tolerate.
Glad you are recovering from your tonsillitis. And you could always pass your weight loss in my direction. I could do with a bit.
Sally good luck tomorrow with 1st taxol- here’s hoping side effects gentle on you. You have done amazingly so far. I got myself in a real tizz about docetaxel, however I think I’ve done ok with side effects- 1 day of terrible bone pain and mouth sores- can’t taste a thing anymore - compared to others I’ve done ok. The tonsillitis has not been helpful but getting better each day - from past experience not great for at least a week. But the Is shining, warm breeze - perfect . Take care xx
Thanks Jem. Had my blood test in readiness today but I’ll only need that every 3 weeks now. I’ll just need to drop in an hour before chemo for a FBC on the other weeks which is handy.
The first T was very uneventful once they got a vein. No SEs so far and the intravenous steroids have actually affected my blood sugar less than the tablets so that’s good. It was very hot and humid here last night so a sweaty night but a bit cooler by this morning.
Feenix - you’re the other side- I’ve really felt for you as you’ve had to wait for such a long time . Hope pain is under control. Do you have a date for results - hoping so much that this will be as quick as possible this time. How many nodes have been taken in total? I have everything crossed that results are very very good. Walking by the sea sounds perfect. I’ve not been up to walking for the last week, hoping tomorrow to go early.
Sally- sorry vein was so awful to find. You are amazing with such few se- long may that continue. Hoping you get some relief from heat- there was a lovely breeze here today.
Feeling so much more ‘me’ like the past 2 days?. Been rather hectic day today but lovely - eldest son home from scout camp- missed him so much. Off on hols on Monday to Somerset- I’m not as organised as normal, I’m sure we’ll get there .
Take care xx
. Feenix on the other side of surgery at last. Well done you and hope you are recovering well. It’s been a long trip for you.
Sally. Where you at now?
Jem. Hope you are also doing good and enjoyed you hols in Somerset
Have to say I have given my phone a holiday as seems to have been glued to my hand for the last 4 month and just needed some time to reflect as just seemed to be on a constant roller coaster and not able to get off. Well now I am off and had app with oncologist last week who said all gone well I will be ok and see you in 6 month. Yes what I wanted to hear but was next day I think the last four month hit me like a brick. Took till last weekend to start feel kind of human again. Very strange feeling and still not 100% but getting there. Back to the office for the day tomorrow so that will help, I hope. So ladies not forgot about you just trying to get back to some kind of normal again. You guys will soon be there. Take care all and speak soon as will keep checking now my phone is my friend again. Xxx
Sally hope chemo goes as well as it can today- thinking of you. How many more for you now? Cold capping each week - you are a Wonder Woman ?. Take care Jem xx
Number 3 of 12 T today. All being well I should finish on 19th October. Chemo arm where I had clot is stiff and dimpled and looking strange but I can straighten it now. All the stiffness is from the scarring from surgeries on the other side. Still have lots of numbness months later and there’s no improvement in that at all.
Still cold capping and still have most of my hair. Bit of a thin patch on top but I can sweep my hair back and cover it.
