Hi ladies
Hope you enjoyed the sunshine today! I’ve not been sleeping too well so have been making up with naps all day.
Booked my Flu jab in today as advised by chemo nurse.
My taste buds have totally gone haywire! Nothing appeals at the moment Today it’s been just ginger nuts and galaxy hot chocolate drink.
My friend just brought some home made Shepherds pie over, I’ll see if that appeals.
Hope all my lovely ladies have had manageable days and remember that we are on the way to recovery however hard it seems.xx
Hi CK, sorry you’re not sleeping or eating too well. Hope you’re able to enjoy the homemade shepherds pie, that sounds lovely! I think a change in your tastebuds is quite usual with chemo-a lady I know who had bc is going to lend me her chemo cook books, I don’t know if getting something like that might help you?
We didn’t much sunshine today here in Kent :smileysad: xx
I’m worried about the taste bud thing, I think that I might be a super taster I find certain flavours stay with me anyway so thinking that weird taste changes will be tough. I love my food ?
Sorry to hear some of the side effects are kicking in, CK - although surviving on ginger nuts and Galaxy hot chocolate doesn’t too bad ??? Hopefully you’ll be tempted by the home made Shepherd’s pie - what a nice gesture by your friend. I love my food so not relishing this particular side effect. Still mourning the fact that I’ll be off seafood for months too. Ha.
Can’t believe you’ve had sunshine in Cheshire today, we’re in full on Autumn mode here in God’s Own City. Biblical rain this morning and feels like Starbucks red cups are just round the corner this evening… xx
Morning ladies
I managed to eat nearly all of the Shepherds pie slowly thank goodness as was worried about becoming too weak. Then managed a slice of bread, butter and jam. Slept from 10.30 to 5.30am with little wake ups now and then. I don’t think I need to be too worried about a sleeping pattern at this time just grab it whilst I can and will only go to work if feeling up to it. These shannanigans really take it out of you and you are on alert all of the time.xx
Hi Jencat
Cookbooks sound good but it’s getting round to do it! I may have an idea though, go online and see what’s there and get someone to make it for me!!!:) Hope you are ok.xx
Hi Chaffinch
Get the hubby to do it. Rest time for you. My friends have been doing my shopping, my daughter the washing and my nails, my mum bots and bobs after all she is 81!!! I spook need the rest.xx
Hi Cheery
Weather not so good today but I guess being indorrs doesn’t make a difference.
The Shepherds pie went down well.
I have 3 left. Going to try steamed fish today which will be a trial to see if can cope with the fishy smell!
We can have seafood but just not shellfish e.g prawns, crab, lobster if that’s any better. Fish is good if it appeals.
My taste buds are so different day to day.xx
Hi Rhona
Murray mints today. They last longer and don’t make my mouth sore and don’t leave a sour taste. Managed some steamed fish for lunch, just a little but better than nothing.
Asked my friend to get me some oreo ice cream cornettos later.xx
My Chemo is scheduled to start on 20th too Cherry and Jencat. I was diagnosed on 29th August. I am seeing the oncologist this eednesday 13th to find out what chemo i am having and to meet with a chemo nurse. I am in Liverpool and things do seem to happen quite quickly. Taking all of the advice being given here. Thank you x
I don’t think they’re going to meet their deadline with me then. I see the oncologist for the first time on Thursday which will be 28 days since diagnosis. So unless they’re starting chemo over the weekend they won’t hit that target.
Is it a target for chemo commencing or does it depend on your plan
Diagnosed 21st June
Op 1 8th August (I delayed 1st op for holiday)
Op 2 7th September
Not met onco yet
By time I get results from axillary clearance will be 3 months from diagnosis
My consultant did say if he was questioned on delay in first op I might have to sign to say it was my decision as it put him outside government guidelines x

CherryB is having treatment at Clatterbridge hospital I think. So you 2 are quite near each other.xx
CherryB
Is that right, Clatterbridge? Today I’ve managed steamed fish and another Shepherds Pie…the best day for eating and liads of Murray mints in between.x
Ck I slept today but think it’s the pain killers and yes I am eating x really hungry today as didn’t eat Thursday and yesterday felt A bit sick but had pork chops salad and jacket potato for dinner tonight as hubby could manage that. My daughter coming to cook dinner tomorrow x
Hi ladies
Had a very tight chest and neck and back earlier today and was quite breathless when I talked and just wanted to lie down. Temp also a little high so I rang the Christie hotline and they sent the Paramedics who did a DCG at home which was fine so no heart attack but they wanted me to go to hospital to get checked over. Another DCG fine, X ray fine, Bloods fine and they were happy to let me come home. They feel that with it only being day 6 of first cycle of chemo it’s a big shock to the system so things can go a bit haywire, plus I do panic! Anyway home now and seem to be fine. In a weird way it was kind of good to be out for 3 hours this evening so my sleep pattern may get better orherwise I wouldve been napping!
Came home to another home made Shepherds pie which went down quite well…and Sue W how strange I had a Pork Chop in between too. Xx
Ali
Glad you are near some good hospitals. It makes a while lot of difference like tonight…it only takes my under 10 minutes to the nearest hospital in Stockport.xx
