I did wonder what a first sister was ?
Hi ck I will try not to nap as was awake 4 times in the night have had a wonderful 15 minute untethered shower absolute bliss … just a simple thing I have always took for granted.
So glad you had a restful day yesterday and sun shining in Birmingham too. Hubby still off work so going shopping for some new cushions ?
I am more comfortable but still popping pills
My consultant has told me the ct scan has discovered an enlarged adrenal gland this is not cancerous or cancer related and would probably have never been discovered without the ct scan. Today I have received an appointment to at the endocrine centre so another medical cycle I am about to jump on by the looks of it x
Hi Sue
It’s better to find it now than later so that it can be treated too. It will all seem too much at the time as what we are going through is hard enough but at least it’s been picked up. The earlier to treat the easier… I came back with a positive cervical screen and need to have a Coloscopy! At first I though Are, what else is gonna be thrown at me, but then I’m thinking at least if there’s something there it can be treated! It’s just a lot to deal with but we will do it!
We need to be grateful for the brilliant healthcare we have.xxx
I must admit I did think can anything else be thrown at me and I thought no that will be it but then was side swiped when my daughter saw fertility consultant yesterday she has been told her only hope of having a baby is ivf with egg donor we are gutted especially as she does not qualify for NHS ivf we are meeting a private consultant on 28th September to find out costings etc but think it will be about 17 thousand for 3 attempts but I will move hell and high water to ensure she has a chance xx I feel like there has got to be a let up somewhere x at least worrying about her has shifted my focus from my health x
Sorry meant to ask when is your coloscopy? X
Hi Sue
Again, at least your daughter still has the chance of having a child. I know he money will be raised somehow as you are as determined as me! It’s a small price to pay for a little bundle of joy!
My coioscopy is first week in October but I will discuss with my oncologist on my next chemo Sept 27th to see whether to postpone til later late or she feels I can do it.
I must say though when I opened the letter I thought DRS! What now??? and got frustrated hut then I rang my BBC and they put me at ease.
We are most certainly being challenged!!!
Sid you get cushions? I got a flask and 2 bobble hats!!! Want to find a new V pillow as the one I’ve had is since I was pregnant. My daughter is now 20!!!xxx
I got a v pillow from dunelm really comfy … pillow was £16 and pillow case £12 but I boughtb1 pillow case in the shop then ordered s 2nd one of ebay for s fiver x my mom has knitted me s lovely wioolly hat x
Suppose if we git to take time out we might as well do it all in 1 go x
Oh no!! So sorry to hear those bits of rubbish news. They say if there is a God, he only throws at you what you can cope with. I think when you get a cancer diagnosis you start to think about more existential questions. My jury is out on God at the moment as if he exists he’s kipping on the job a bit right now. Why do evils like (Sir) Philip Green, Jeremy Hunt and Donald Trump skip along a daisy strewn path in life, whereas the rest of us are on a rockier road in six inch heels??!! ?
CK, when did you have your smear test? It wasn’t after you started chemo was it, only I think I read that chemo can lead to a (false) positive result, so they recommend a smear before any treatment starts. I’m due one but haven’t got round to it. Had my fill of tests for one month.
Sue, if you don’t mind me asking why doesn’t your daughter qualify for IVF?? Is this another Jeremy Hunt special?! I honestly think I’m going to have to go round and torch his house. Only a week to wait and I’m sure I’d get away with it - chemo brain, she wasn’t in her right mind m’Lud…
Cherry her husband has a 10 year old from a previous relationship so in Birmingham if one of the couple already have a child you are automatically excluded from qualifying. It is so damn unfair as if she was with a partner who didn’t have a child she would be entitled to 1 nhs ivf. If the problem was with him I could understand it but the problem is with her she is only 26 and they have said she will have gone through menopause by 30 and her eggs are such a poor quality they would not be viable for ivf naturally she has 1 per cent chance of getting pregnant. If they use her eggs for ivf it only goes up to 5 per cent which is why egg donor is needed. If she has her own donor the price drops a little bit and my niece had volunteered straight away for testing to see if she would be a suitable donor x
I know it’s bloody frustrating I have tried looking into rules etc but can’t seem to find a loop hole I even said she should try saying he has discovered previous child not his but apparently they would want to run a DNA to prove the fact grrrrrr x
CK they have got great v cushions in Matalan. Memory foam!! Xx
cherry ? You do make me chuckle even in moments of despair …, well appointment with private is 28th September its just a discussion no commitment so will see that they have to say then xx
Sue, why only in Birmingham? What unfair reasons!!! How about moving away so different address?x
CherryB
My cervical screening was just over 3 weeks after my lumpectomy in August. 2and half weeks b4 chemo. There is a chance is will go negative but main thing is whether to wait until after chemo to have it or not.xx
Ali49
Thanks for that. I may pop down to Matalan for a browse. Are you Ok?xx
Not sure if it is only Birmingham but definitely a rule here x
If different in Cheshire she can say she lives here!!! How unreasonable if different for areas too!x
Sue, sorry to hear about your daughter, life can be cruel as many of us are finding out. My younger (and only sibling) was also diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer the week after me (we are talk of our local hospital as chance are so slim for such close diagnosis) we are now being tested as though we are unaware of any history of breast cancer in family they can’t take any chances due to our ages (me 50, her 43) if we are braca 1 or 2 we will both need further surgery, hysterectomy and further mastectomy. Still trying to get my head round everything, you do wonder how much more you can take some days
However on a positive note chemo 3 done on Wednesday so in words of Bon Jovi im half way there and living on a prayer!. X
Oh Shirley what a worry for you x
Hope you are okay ? x
Not nice for you both. I hope that you get better news from the tests and that it is just a nasty coincidence.
I have 2 daughters and I worry about them going forward but my consultant told me that the braca gene family connection is much more rare than it is portrayed
Hi all
Jen have s fab break … his has school been last few days?
How is dveryone this evening? X
Jencat
Glad you are having a good time! Restaurant sounds wonderful overlooking the sea!! I’m so jealous! I know what you mean when you feel ‘normal’ and then it’s treatment again but the sooner the treatment the sooner we are healed.xx
Hi SueW
I’ve had a really lazy day again but did a little work on laptop and then went into work for a few hours just to see a few friends. Are you recovering well from ok? How is daughter? My customer is starting IVF and said in Stockport we get 2 goes! Can she move?? Just an idea!xx
Think I’m eating too much belly getting big??
