Hi Jackie, I think they tend to only think about the other one if you carry one of the BRCA1 or 2 genes…but others may know different.
Night night, Maggie x
Hi Jackie
Hope you are feeling a bit better today and its good to see you still have your sense of humour intact [lets face it you’re gonna need it] Christmas dinner will never be the same again!!!
I was DX in May 07 with IDC so slightly different to you, I had WLE with full axilliary clearance [nodes], I was grade 3 so had the chemo. I then had rads and am now on Tamoxifen for 5 years. Its all done now and I am out the other side in one piece [sort of]. I have had a mammo and scan recently and both were completely clear so hopefully that is that although convincing my head of that is another story.
Best of luck on Monday and just try and take it all one step at a time, be careful what you read and stay within your own DX because we are all different.
Let us know how you get on, try and chill over the weekend, easier said than done I know.
Lots of Love

Hi AJxxx
Thanks for message and advice.
Still been down indumps today but have decided tomorrow gonna get my act together with a sprint round Asda first thing. Does anyone else push the trolley to the speed of the background music in these shops!!! Fast music and I’m nearly dancing down the aisles, slow music and it can be a three hour trip, lol!!!
Had a Chinese for dinner tonight, thought blow watching the weight, tut tut.
My eldest daughter is off to Dominican Republic on Saturday for two weeks on a FREE holiday! But feels guilty cos of my situ, so we had some quality girl time tonite. Told her not to be daft and go for it!!
Gonna be looking after my 7year old grandson so hope all goes well on Monday
How is Tamoxifen for you? My friend is on it and gets loads of hot flushes, permanently got a fan on her.

Hi Jackie,
Sorry you’ve been feeling down today, but I’m right there with you. My son (16) is off next week to Eygpt and he is really worrying about me, bless him. I told him same as you, don’t be daft, I’ll be fine (???) and he’s to go and have good time.
We had a Kentucky tonight! but that’s because it’s just down the road and I really couldn’t be bothered to cook anything!!
Funnily enough, I’m off to Asda tomorrow - do you think we could do a trolley duet to the music as we go round Ha Ha
Will be good for you having your grandson around - he’ll help take your mind off things.
Talk again soon
Take Care

Good to hear from you Moonshine!
Just got back from Asda, danced round to Amy Winehouse on my own. Any time your up for a trolley duet, just say the word, ha ha! If I go with any of my daughters I love to start to dance down the aisles with the trolley. It makes them cringe with embarassment, lol!!!
I couldnt be bothered to cook either last night, hence the Chinese. Best make up for it tonight though .Going to make a home made curry. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no Delia Smith, its two jars of Pataks curry sauces with chicken breast fillets, whacked in the oven!
Definitely up beat today and counting down til Monday. Sun shining here and what a difference it makes to my moods!! I love the sun and getting out in the garden.
Good luck with your trolley dash. Perhaps speak later??
All the best

Hi Jackie
Sorry not to answer last night, daughter arrived home with the usual amount of news to fill me in on about her evening, that girl can talk for England.
Glad to hear you got yourself out this morning even if it was for the weekly Asda grind, although I suppose dancing in the aisles is one way of improving it, my daughter would walk off if I tried it!!
I would like to tell you that the tamoxifen is Ok but that would be a complete lie cos at the moment I hate it. The flushes are awful but the hot weather is a part of that I think. They make me panic and feel sick especially if I can’t get the heat out. I have started using rubber gloves to protect my hands with the lymphoedema risk and got so hot when washing up [only a couple of bits cos have got a dishwasher] and the gloves were new and tight so I couldn’t get them off. In the end I had to run into the garden cos I thought I was going to faint LOL!! My family didn’t bat an eyelid, I think they are so used to my odd behaviour now they just ignore it.
The other problems are the creaking joints and problems downstairs but I have read on here that there are things you can have to help with these side effects so I am going to see the nurse at my surgery about that. Its all well and good having this menopause stuff but I just hope this is it cos if it isn’t I will have to do it all again after the tamoxifen when my body decides its the real time. I may be 43 years old but if you saw me getting out of bed in the morning you would think I was 93!!!
So having cheered you up about that [I told you not to get too far ahead didn’t I LOL] I had better get back to work as I have come home in my lunch to see my dog, who hasn’t bothered to get out of her bed!!
AJxxx
Hi AJxxx
Good to hear from you!
Sorry to hear Tamoxifen is not so wow for you. My friend mentioned the creaking joints as well. You said about doing it for real, the menopause stuff. I’m 49 and was just starting to go through the menopause before all this BC stuff. Any consolation I had not had any hot flushes, I dont think all women do, so maybe when its for real you might not. Just everything drying up if you know what I mean!!! God the things we girls have to go through! They had just put me on HRT but after this diagnosis have had to stop it immediately.
How old is your daughter? I’ve got 3, they are 24,23 and 18!!
Just chilling this afternoon, perhaps speak later?
Take Care
Jackiexxx
My daughter is 18 and my son is 19 [13 months between them, didn’t realise what was causing it!!].
I had a busier than necessary afternoon at work, cant believe they needed that much doing on a Friday afternoon but its the weekend now so everything is good. OH is working away at the moment and both kids will be working all weekend it will be just me and the dog, and the washing and the ironing.
Hi AJxxx
There’s only 15 months between my eldest two. They started speculating the other week whether we just couldnt keep our hands off each other when we were young or a plan to get as much board money in as poss, lol!!! How’s that for cheek!!
Eldest has just started packing for tomorrow and grandson playing pool with OH so thought I’d come upstairs and check the forum. Its great to be able to chat like this. Just been to see my neighbour but she wanted to tell me all her friend’s side effects of Chemo, best I don’t know yet,as you said, so made excuses and came home. They have had new bathroom and OH has just siliconed it all in for them, what a star!!
Anyway he’s suggested we go out for a meal tonight so I’m being a “Neglectful” mother and they can all feed themselves! So much for the curry I promised, oh what the heck! Better go and get ready but if we are back early, i’ll be back on later. They joke I’m always home for about 9 o’clock wherever I go!!
Take Care

Have a good one, dont eat too much
Hi Jackie and girls,
Just imagine you doing an Amy Winehouse round Asda, did you say No No No!! I didn’t even recognise the music playing in mine? Bumped into a couple of people in there I know who said they can’t believe how well I look. Felt as though they were almost disappointed. Oh well, give me a few months down the line of treatment and I’m sure that will cheer them up.
I will be on hormone treatment after, AJ you say it makes you hot and panicky, blimey, I’m like that now! so god knows what I’ll be like then. I’m 47 and very hormonal - have been for a few years. I think the posh word is peri-menopausal. I’ve got three fantastic kids, boy 16, girl 14 and a little surprise one!! who’s 10. I’ve also got 3 cats and a puppy that poops on the carpet. So plenty to keep me busy. The mornings are always the worst for me, but I seem to get better as day goes on.
Hope you have a lovely evening out Jackie and that your’e feeling Good, Good, Good!!
Lots of love to you all
Traceyxxxx
Hello lovelies,
Been having a bit of trouble with the PC (no not you Chrissie)
Am now on Sons - haven’t been in this black hole for some time, am sitting with an array of old coffee cups with various strains of penicllan growing on them.
Have also got something unmentionalbe stuck to my shoe!
How are you all - I started off a bit low this morning - but you know me - like a rubber ball - I keep bouncing back.
Love Traceyxxxxxx
Hi Tracey
I was very hot all the time with the chemo, could hardly have the heating on in November and December. I walked around in t-shirts, family kept their coats on LOL!!
The tamoxifen heat comes in waves, it wooshes up through you and ends with this horrible burning face sensation. i think I panic cos you know whats coming but you can’t stop it, some are quite quick but others seem to take ages and there the ones that make you all sweaty and sticky, yuk. The weather def doesn’t help though, I reckon the answer to global warming is tamoxifen. If everyone took it we wouldn’t need any heating!!
Hi both,
Just got back. Went to local pub and had Hunters chicken followed by chocolate brownie and cream! Funny thing, OH couldnt wait to get me home to see if I had any messages from you guys!! Think he knows you’ve cheered me up or he is just glad I’m off his case!
Gonna have a bath shortly, getting shooting pains in SNB wound.Cant decide if its the lymph nodes healing or the dreaded cancer on the move round my lymph nodes, now I know its still in there. Does that make me sound a complete nutter?? Had cervical cancer 10 years ago so already get stick in my leg from lymph node removal there. How unlucky can you be?? Never mind, seriously I feel on a high tonight, not sure why but not complaining,eh!!!
What are you up to, anything good??
Jackiexxx
Hi Jackie
Glad to hear you have had a good night and glad you are getting some help from here. I was the worse head in the sand type last year when I was DX and only joined the forum this year after treatment all finished, but I have only recently started to accept what actually happened last year and talking to people going through it now helps me come to terms with it all as well.
Sorry to hear you have already been through acancer trauma, that really is a sh*t, I wouldn’t worry to much about the shooting pains, its prob just everything settling down from the op but add it to your list of questions to put your mind at rest.
Hi AJxxx
Thanks for advice about puting it on the list. You know I would’nt have thought of that because all I can focus on is what is going to happen next. Kind of forgetting to mention side effects of what has already happenned, does that sound mad??
I guess I like to know what might happen so I can prepare myself for all possibilities. My OH is in for a shock I think because he so desperately wants it to be good news each time, when its not its hard for him. he is really supportive and affectionate but he cant even contemplate what could happen after Monday, bless him.
Better go and check bath has not flooded!!! Try and get back on here in a bit.
Jackiexxx
Hello Jackie,
So glad you had a nice time tonight, it’s important to try and do nice things. Your hubby sounds very caring and lovely.
I agree with AJ that the pains are most likely to be healing from surgery. I had really bad aches and shooting pains in my boob for 2 weeks after biopsies and was convinced it was the cancer. You seem like me, to have had more than your share of the dreaded C. I had menanoma 10 years ago and I lost my lovely hubby 10 months ago to cancer.
Anyway on to a more cheerier note - and cheerie we must be - I took my puppy Ralph round to see my 94 yr old Nan today. I said I won’t stop incase he chews your furniture. No she said - have a cup of tea - realised after chatting 10 mins Ralph had disappeared and found him in her bedroom and he’d pooped on her lovely white rug!! | felt awful, but she loved him and thought it was funny. My daughter has taken some lovely photos of him and said she will put me one in a special holder to take in hospital with me.
Hope you have nice relaxing bath, might do the same in a while - it helps me sleep.
Thinking of you
Traceyxxxxxxx
PS - asked my friend today who is an oncology researcher about what if it’s in my lymph nodes and she said then we’ll just blast it away with chemo, and it does not mean that it has or that it will spread. Hope that helps.
xx
Hi Moonshine
Thanks for asking your friend about the lymph nodes. So sorry to hear you lost your hubby to cancer and have had this shit before as well. Sometimes life seems so bloody unfair, doesnt it!!!
I’ve been looking after my grandson all weekend so I’ve not had a chance to come on here. He is so funny, he knows Nanan(thats me) has got a poorly arm(did’nt mention the boob, he’s fascinated with them, lol!) and has been so thoughtful and gentle when he has had any contact with me. Amazing for a normal boisterous little 7 year old!
I also had my confused 77 year old mother in law round for the day yesterday. She repeats herself continuosly bless her and forgets everything so conversations can be hilarious but draining!! She thinks I have had a small lump removed from under my arm, didnt mention the cancer. She thinks everyone that gets cancer dies, great!!!
However the big day has finally arrived and after waking up all night feeling sick with terror, I am now going to compose a list of questions and try and get a grip!!! Appointment at 11.50, so I’ll come on later and let you know the “good” news, what they are going to do to me next!!!
Take Care
Jackiexxxxx
Hi Jackie,
I wondered where you was!!!
Sounds like you Grandson has kept you busy - probably a good thing though.
I can imagine how you are feeling now, hopefully they will be able to reassure you. My appointment for result of MRI and find out what type of surgery I’m having is tomorrow (hope there’s a toilet near by!!)
Wish you all the best I’m sure it will be fine, don’t forget to ask those questions!!
Lots of love
Traceyxxxxx
