Triple positive - grade 3

Hi there,

I hope someone could help… I got diagnosed with triple positive invasive grade 3 breast cancer a couple of weeks ago. They advised they are treating it as stage 1 for now but only provisionally, is this common that they provisionally stage it?

I have had my contrast mammogram and another lump shown up when injecting the dye. They said they don’t believe it’s anything but had to have a biopsy taken. I’m awaiting the results and treatment plan to be decided on Thursday. Has anyone else had anything similar?

I’m turning 35 this month and also going through IVF currently also so it’s just alot to take in and process.

Sending love x

Hello, I really feel for you as was 36 with the same diagnosis going through IVF. It is a hard diagnosis, particularly with fertility issues thrown in. I’m sure your team will discuss that and give you the opportunity to discuss how to manage your fertility with any treatment offered. Just take it step by step, as there is a lot of new information to take in. Best wishes.

Hi

I was diagnosed with triple negative invasive breast cancer (grade 3) last month. I too have gone through IVF and finished that the week before last. The sheer amount of information and fertility preservation appointments has been a lot. My head has been spinning since this all started but trying to stay positive.

I haven’t been told a stage but I do know someone who also wasn’t told for definite what their stage was at the beginning when first diagnosed. I can’t say if its common but may be they don’t give a definitive view on the stage when first diagnosed.

I know its tough but they have reasons for these tests and probably just want to make sure. I’ve had a biopsy at my underarm because they noted swelling but it came back negative. They were still concerned and so I had to do another one. I really didn’t want to as it would be my third including the breast one but it was what it was.

This is hard time but I’ve tried to just focus on getting through the different steps. First was the IVF stage, now my focus is on treatment. All the best.

Morning @hopeful2025 and @bambi241 . I thought I’d send you a quick message to let you know there’s a great thread for a home with her2 cancer - I’m triple positive too btw. It’s got a wealth of information from ladies at all different stages…I highly recommend reading the posts from start to finish as there are some very inspiring women on there.

Her2

Morning @cass2, thank you so much for this message. I’ll definitely be taking a look at the link you’ve posted. I hope you’re doing okay :two_hearts:

Morning @hopeful2025

How are you getting on?
My second biopsy came back negative and I am starting treatment next Thursday - 6 rounds of chemotherapy and then surgery.

Hoping you’ve had some updates on your treatment plan? :two_hearts:

Thank you so much @edp
I hope you’re doing okay :two_hearts:

Just a quick note to say thank you for your posts of positivity. We’ve never spoken before but I’ve read some of your comments when I was first diagnosed. They helped me a lot. X

Hi. I’m trying to take each day as it comes…I accessed counselling quite quickly as I knew I’d struggle mentally and it has helped immensely. I have my last chemo Wednesday. X

@cass2 - I have done the same too as it’s so hard to navigate and process isn’t it. My brain can’t quite comprehend this is happening. Amazing you have your last chemo on Wednesday! Do you have any further treatment such as surgery or radiotherapy afterwards? Xx

I know. I’m rather excited about finishing and you will all get there too. As I’m Triple positive I’ve got a whole range of treatments left…surgery, rads, endocrine therapy BUT I’m trying to remember that we’re so lucky to have all this available to us. 10 years ago, being her2 was considered a bad thing. But now we have so many ways to fight it. Hurrah. Basically my medical team said they’re going to throw the kitchen sink at it and I’m all for that. Honestly, do visit that thread I linked. One clear thread through it all is that whole non of us would ever chosen to be part of this club, but it is doable. Some of the women have taken this as a sign to take more control of their lives, whether that’s saying ‘no’ to constant demands or taking up adventurous hobbies. They show that life can carry on, which is so important to hear as the start of the journey can be so difficult. X

Thank you for sharing this link.

Hi bambi241

Thanks for asking, really appreciate the message asking how I am getting on. I am ok, some days good some not so good but I think the not so good is due to the waiting for treatment to start. I think it should be better once I get going properly. My second biopsy was also negative (yay).

I’m starting chemotherapy this coming Thursday. Chemotherapy is for 3-4 months, they are not sure yet as they want to review in about 6-8 weeks time. Then surgery but type of surgery will depend on results of genetic testing. I’ve had two close relatives diagnosed with cancer. Then possibly chemotherapy again (I pray they say not needed), and then possibly radiotherapy. Nothing is certain at the moment but understand doctors can only roughly plot things out for me at this stage. Grateful to have some sort of outline though and to get going with chemotherapy because at least I can start to fight back at this thing!

Hope you are doing ok, keep going, one day all of this will be behind us.

Hey @hopeful2025

It sounds like you and I have very similar treatment plans and we both start chemo the same day. Exactly the same about 3-4 months of chemo then surgery outcome depending on genetic testing.

Please do message me how you’re doing. I really am with you on this. We’ve got this. I think once Thursday is happening we can do a countdown with each other and say that’s one chemo done, bring on the other rounds.

It’s my birthday Friday so my consultant checked if I deffo wanted to do it Thursday and I’ve said yes, no time like the present and just want to get started

I am here 🩷

@cass2 you’re absolutely right, my consultant said to me also the other day that people panic when they hear ‘grade 3’. Which is what I have, he said chemotherapy will be more targeted and not to worry or panic that it’s growing every single day. These things can take months/years to develop.

It sounds like I have a similar pattern to yourself once I’ve finished chemo. Please let me know how you get on after Wednesday!! We’ve got this!! You’re doing amazing xx

Exactly this. Chemo is more effective for higher grades! It may be a beast but it falls hard with the treatment. I’m a higher stage than you but holding out hope. I had a contrast mammogram last Monday and the consultant couldn’t see the tumor anymore. we haven’t received the report from the radiographer yet but hoping they can’t see it either.

You’ve clearly caught yours early and yes, you’ve totally got this too. X

Hi bambi241

Happy birthday, hope you were able to enjoy the day even with yesterday. How did you get on? I was there for about 6.5 hours so very long day but they were very busy. I cold capped which adds the time. But overall, was ok with the treatment but did have to have an early night.

How are you feeling today? I finished my final chemo Wednesday. My mood always drops at this point though so trying to battle through but I have a brain MRI this afternoon which is making me feel anxious.

Ahhh, it is so kind of you to write this. I hope you are doing well, that you are feeling ok and starting to come through this journey  x
