Aw Sweetie thankyou feel the love
Just been on a site re pain from R/T and lo and behold there was so many comments re the problems i’ve been having…
No’one will ever know how happy I was to read that i’m not a hypochondriac and the problems are common woohoo happy lady… well maybe not that happy but to read the same comments that have been running through my head these past couple of weeks is such a relief!!
PHEW!!!
Thankyou for the spoons Em I shall use them wisely xxxxxxxxxhugsxxxxxx
-----0 -----0 Couple more I found shhh! I know the feeling this site has been a brilliant support with wonderful flutterbys everywhere! How special is that? I think it made my world make some kind of sense after the mind boggling we went through and think it is you! Only to find that though new to us it is normal!!! Well I am sort of!!! No more worrying lovely give yourself some time I know it is easy to say and not to do but you put yourself in a bad place and I remember someone saying to me about being positive and not looking for trouble Hmmm wonder who that was? He!He! have a stress free weekend and we will catch you soon big hugs Em xxxxx
I agree-I am terrible at beating myself up for not being able to do some of the things I used to do. I think"Oh you’re being weak/useless etc" but then you realise you’re actually just normal (well sort of!) and it really helps.
I’m having lovely lazy half term hols, ready for the onslaught next week. Hope everyone else is okay xxxx
Hiya harp! Glad you are having a lazy one we deserve some quality time with ourselves from time to time! I have given up on the beating it hurt too much and used up too much energy! No such thing as weak or useless we wouldn’t be the flutterbys we are if we had been that, though we none planned this we did what we had to do and got through we just need to remember we are as valuable as those we expend our energy’s on so no more self flagellation it is so not worth it and wastes that commodity we so value ENERGY! take care have a good weekend Em x
Doz - nights! Eeek! Have some of the spoons from my canteen
-----0 ------0 -----0
Em…
I just noticed the picture Doh!!! Is that a new addition to the family??? xxxxxxxxxxx
Jane
Thankyou for the spoons I’m equipped and ready for the dreaded nights tho to be fair I dont mind on the odd occasion (more recently as a night staff Nurse has just retired so were all filling the gap…) we get to chat properly with the patients who very rarely sleep so they pass pretty quick, and its only 2… tho just got shifts for next week and they put me on days from Tuesday!!! So its a bit of a quick turn around sleep day monday then back Tues, not good!!
Have a lovely weekend Flutterby xxhugxx
In my bit of flutterby-world, the frogs are at it!!! My OH is trying to clean out the pond before all the frogspawn arrives and it’s too late (again!) Every time he lifts out a load of sludge, there are two attached frogs on it! (and a newt trying to hide - do you think he’s heard we’ve been fishing for neuts?) Or maybye I’ve completely flipped… possible… possible…
the task and challenge during active treatment was to survive…
the task and challenge now is to learn to be kind to self…
equipment for survival? Humour, gritted teeth and each other
equipment for new habit? humour, spoons, and each other!
have a good weekend, love Jane
PS Doz - what a gift to the patients you are - talking with them trumps anything else! (apart from pain relief and a commode of course!)
Hi Doz no this little beauty is my son’s when she was younger, she ‘knew’ something was wrong with me a while before I did! She cried constantly when round me and would not leave me alone it became a joke as we could not work out what was going on. After my ops she settled down and is now the same towards me as everyone else, she is rather lovely and very clever with one blue and one brown eye but really pretty. I find it reassuring when she is around so can’t wait to have a dog of our own again. We are waiting till after the Aus trip as we don’t want to have a fretting pup and of course owners! Well just chilling done a bit of housework and washing that’s it for today ! Take care flutterbys Em xxx
p.s love it Jane!
Hello everyone in Flutterby world,
I am so pleased that you have your results now Doz and I hope you get good support from your GP for it. I tried to get in touch with my BCN nurse last week but she rang back and I was at work so will try again on Monday. My pain is now mainly on my shoulder blade and the back of my ribs ( areas which I didn’t think would be as badly affected ).
I loved your little saying Gi Jane, how lovely. I will be posting that up for my friends!
I have had a very busy four days off getting ready for my daughter’s 21st and having two days of get togethers. Lovely stuff, but here I am with anxiety creeping in as Monday approaches. Get the spoons out lol! But I am very lucky because my OH will be home all week, so there’s a positive too.
Take care everyone. Carolyn x
Aw Carolyn
Poor you as well… mine is in my shoulder blade most of the time too (hurts like h**l when i’m turning in bed and also driving if I stretch my neck…the rib pain tho is just under my boob but has affected my rib cage front and back, and like you I wondered if it really could affect us there??? But it seems so after reading lots of posts and talking to a few of our Dr’s at work it appears its common??? Now I just want to know why and whats making it hurt so much!
I hope you have some luck on monday getting to sort things out I would have liked to also but i’m at work till 7.15am and will be in bed most of the morning but might try and ring in the afternoon, so keep us informed and vice versa hon…
Sat having a cuppa and all’s quiet so sneaked on here as I missed you flutterby’s… also wanted to know what I might be missing ha ha!!!
Hope your all in the land of nod dreaming sweet dreams of sunshine and warmth… cos its absolutely freezing outside… I’ve just been to feed our Peacock… Percy! He sleeps near the back door to the ward and he taps on the door when he’s hungry how clever, so now I come armed with nuts and seeds everytime i’m here… I’d bring him in if was my decision but not sure it’d go down too well with the Trust!!! Night night flutterbys catch you soon big hugs xxxxxhugxxxx
wow! A tame peacock! Bet the patients would love it, but you’re right the Trust might not! Girding my loins for another week… flapping wings gently…
my shoulder pain seems to have worn off, thankfully…
have a good/gentle week flutterbies
Jane xx
Hi Jane
Percy is gorgeous he appeared last winter just before the bad snow and was still really young (brown and fluffy) Now he is the most beautiful creature and so tame… There is a Mental Health Unit in the grounds of an old house nearby which has around 30 Peacocks, Percy we think was pushed out (male dominance) and has been with us ever since! Our Hospital is in the grounds of another old estate and all the wards are single builds like large bungalows… so there is plenty of grass trees etc between each ward… so pretty!
Percy began feeding out of our hands quite early last year and is loved by everyone (apart from mating season when his bellowing wakes everyone up at dawn) he seems to prefer our ward to stay close to… possibly cos we give him so much food buns digestive biscuits and of course plenty of sunflower seeds and peanuts!!!
Only downside is, he is on his own bless him, so we have been on the lookout for a young female for him… anyone living near Cottingham East Yorkshire who has a spare LET ME KNOW We feel so sorry for him being on his own…
Glad to hear your shoulder is on the mend?? Its a right royal pain having all these aches… but hey ho most of them do ease thankfully, Take care flutterbys and flutter onwards xxxxhugxxx
Wow! An honest to goodness peacock I bet he is gorgeous! We have a male pheasant who struts
his stuff at the moment, it is working a treat! We counted a dozen females trotting about adoringly! I did point them out to one of our grandsons who said he is greedy :0
I hope you’re all keeping warm, it’s been freezing here today we even had some snow flurries
! I do hope it does warm up as predicted I am just about ready for warm! Take care fellow flutterbys Hugs Em xxx
Hi flutterbys hope you are keeping warm as we are summer insects and need heat except when its hot flushes ha ha.Know all about aches in ribs as I feel as if my ribs go into spasm sometimes and it takes my breath away. But its the general aches and pains in knees ankles wrists and left shoulder that bother me most.At docs this Fri so will ask if its s.es from Letrozole and Simvastatin as I had bone density scan last year and presume it was okay as didn’t recommend any extra calcium.Apart from that I am fine and getting out for walks and to gym with help from Ibuprofen.Love the peacock thing how wonderful all we had where I worked were hedgehogs rabbits and the occassional fox.But it was nice to see wildlife around.take care everyone and be kind to yourselves big hug to you all Janice xxx
Love the dog Emmy, she looks so cute! A bit like a lovely PJ case?
Carolyn. Hope your pains aren’t too bad. Did you manage to speak to your BC nurse today? It’s a nice comfort for you to have your OH around this week. Don’t let it get you down, flutterby.
Jane, glad to hear your shoulder’s better!
Janice, like you, my ribs sometimes go into a spasm if I get into an awkward position! I haven’t heard anything either from the bone density scan so I’m assuming I haven’t got osteoperosis after my wrist fracture.
Doz. The Peacock screams are terrible! Some years ago we lived where we worked and had Peacocks in the grounds. They were very noisy and used to peer round the side of the bedroom window and peck on the glass looking in at dawn. Great wake up call!! They were very messy and used to poo everywhere. I used to feed the squirrels with leftovers and they’d come to the kitchen window with cream covered whiskers from buns.
We are all stories,
unfolding day by day -
enjoy your next chapter.
Hugs Ami xx
Hi Flutterbys
Janice so glad your ok apart from all your aches and pains… I… here I go again… I I I was and am the same being on Letrozole and was on Simvastatin but had to go back to Dr’s last Sept, as I could hardly move due to joint ache and horrific headaches… they changed the Simvastatin to Pravastatin… it has’nt eased much apart from the headaches have all but gone, I still struggle to straighten up after being sat for a while hope they come up with a better plan for you as they said its both tablets that cause the aches and stiffness…
At least your being good and going to the gym bless ya xx
Ami what a lovely little quote… where’s the spoons one??? I double dog dare you ha ha xx
Em what an adorable woofy They do say dogs can attune to cancer i’m not sure how… but it has been spoken about in some medical journals and before Alice died (god I miss her she used to sit with her head in my lap but always had her nose to my right side and was very clingy… then she got poorly so I didnt give it another thought…till I read about them sensing it long before we find it… Very spooky xxxx
Well if I thought I was a zombie before… I am now Finished my nights yesterday and i’m back on duty at 12 today AAAARGH!!! Someone didnt check the duty rota when they gave me a tuesday shift after a sunday night its done week by week so it looks as if I’d had monday off when in fact it was my sleep day Sob!!!
Oh the joy!!!
We’ve had sunshine for the past 2 days but its bitterly cold I dont know how the birds and Percy stay warm and survive???
Percy sleeps on the concrete ramp near our back door and the ground is freezing… glad i’m not a bird!!! Though I’ve got the fattest birds in the area in my garden they are spoilt rotten!!!
Oh well housework for an hour then work
I bid you all a lovely day and hope as Ami says Enjoy your next chapter flutterbys xxxxhugxxxx
P.s Canarys are doing really well… they found their song and dont we know it… at 6 in a morning!!! “SHUDDUP”
NO idea how you cope with that Doz! Have some virtual spoons!!! if it happens again, does the rota come out far enough in advance to say “excuse me”… and get it changed?
Hpe everyone’s aches & pains go away… and the dogs do their cathartic/healing thing…
6AM? Shuddup is right! Think I might (lovingly) wring its neck!!! Do the patients like the peacock?
love J
ZOMBIE ALERT!!!
Phew that took some doing… a very half hearted attempt at smiling was the order of the day…
I dont know how I do it either Jane… Dare I say i’m back in morning at 6.45 so me thinks my bed is calling!!
I WANNA WIN THE LOTTERY AND RETIRE… oh how I wish! A little house far away from the hustle and bustle with a big garden and no work BLISS!!!
Until then its same old same old…
Yes we do sometimes get our duty sheet a couple of weeks ahead but this one was late as our senior Nurse who does it has been on Annual Leave… so what was written was too late to swap around oh well a weeks holiday in 3 weeks when Daniel comes home WooHoo!!! on both counts
Percy is adored by the Patients Jane especially when he comes to the doors (full length glass) and struts his stuff with his feathers all fanned out… he shows off till you feed him so he’s a tonic for the patients who can get to the door!!
Thankyou for the spoons… I shall use them wisely
Love and hugs to you all as I crawl to my pit… dont work too hard Flutterbys wherever and whatever your fluttering to do xxxxhugxxxx
Hi ho Hi ho… its off to work I go…
Hope all goes well tomorrow Em xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
