I see BCN has had a makeover and gone even more pink. I truly hate all the girl power pink breast cancer stuff. I run but will never do a race for life thanks to the pinkness. Really sorry to see this BCN. We need to be seen as adults not children.
I think BCN does fantastic work and I love this forum. But even before I was diagnosed I thought all the pink associated with breast cancer was infantalising. But I assume I’m in the minority so I grit my teeth…
Speaking as someone with a visual impairment that can’t be cured with a new pair of specs I’m finding the new format with the pink writing on a pale pink background means that things aren’t standing out so well it’s not as clear for me as the old one - definitely too much pink .I know what you mean but the media took hold of it quite a few years ago and the pink ribbon came out and that was that xx
I agree, I find the pink patronising, but I ignore it. That said, the forum new layout is not great to read, very wishy washy on the eyes.
I agree. I don’t care about the pink but I’ve found it hard to find the new topics on the forum etc. I liked the old format and would much prefer to go back to it ![]()
I agree it’s less clear to read too. A pity.
Yes I agree about it being hard to read, layout a bit odd. To me it’s less pink than previously and much more white which I think is better.
Perhaps I’m just an old dinosaur but I don’t like this new format at all. It’s too white and clinical. The previous branding had a cosier more friendly feel.
Yes I agree .
I present to large groups using PowerPoint and was told dark text on white backgrounds isn’t dyslexia friendly, and causes visual stress in quite a few people. Although I would have thought all BCN literature and resources would have to be accessibility checked.
I get that the pink isn’t to everyone’s taste, but I think it’s really just branding, the same way red is often linked with blood cancers and purple with pancreatic cancer. I think the pink ribbon is more about having a recognisable symbol people can connect with than anything else.
I also don’t think pink is an inherently childish colour it might not be everyone’s favourite, but at the end of the day it’s just a colour. Lots of adults wear pink!
And honestly, with everything else we are all dealing with when going through breast cancer, I’m not sure the colour of the forum is the most important issue. It has been so good for me to connect and hear other people’s stories while I have been going through treatment, I couldn’t care less what colour it was.
I do completely understand that it could be difficult for anyone struggling visually though, and hopefully there are settings that can be adjusted to make it easier.
Hi everyone! Thanks for your thoughts on the new look for the forum, we’re always happy to hear feedback from our community.
We can share a little bit of background on the choice of colours: Pink is an important part of our colour palette. We know it has a huge association in people’s minds with the cause, which we can use to make us more noticeable and more memorable. Purple also remains an important part of our colour palette, and we’ll continue to use this alongside our other colours.
The new colour combinations have been tested. But we’ve let the team know some of the feedback here. We’re now looking at how we can improve this to make it easier to read. We want to make sure our forum is accessible to all.
