What a lovely forum,** virtual hugs to you all ** has been so comforting to read, though sometimes it frightens the life out of me ( forgive the pun :))
Found out 3 weeks ago after my first mammagram that i have a teeny lump radialogist called it the size of a petit pois which was rather sweet of him,Iam thinking at least its not the size of a marrowfat much to the amusement of my freinds.all pretty scary, feeling very anxious more so with all the waiting for results afterwards. Anyone in same boat? if so drop us a line would love to hear from others.Been told that if all comes back clear then i will start rads early nov.Fingers crossed all goes to plan as booked a 5 week solo trip to Bali/australia Feb 2010 and that is something i do not want to miss! ~ Deb ~
hi suffolkscouser ! am sorry you are in this pickle but you’ll find loads of support on here. Am ahead of you in terms of treatment as I had my diagnosis at the end of April and surgery in May (WLE and sentinel node biopsy) followed by radiotherapy in July and now on tamoxifen…
Will keep fingers crossed for you for op and good results - your trip sounds amazingly fab.
xxchipperxx
forgot to say - mine was dx after my first mammo too !
Hi sorry you have to join our club but as chipper says this is a brilliant site, I really don’t know what I would have done without it. I was diagnosed in early August with a small lump, 7mm, found on mammo (bit of a shock isn’t it, even though that is the purpose of mammos you never really think anything might show up somehow!) I had my lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy on 25 August and it wasn’t too bad at all. Now five weeks on I am feeling “good” most days. Waiting to start radiotherapy which seems to have been a bit delayed (now I’m worrying about that!) looking like end of Oct. I am taking Arimidex as my tumour was hormone positive, you will become more familiar with all the terms as you go along this journey.
I found it helps just to take each step as it comes.
Good luck for the 7th and also for your results we really are lucky that it has been found at an early stage.
Chris xx
Deb, you really want to take that Bali trip! And you will. Rads are easy. Might get a bit tender to the end, but you’ll certainly be fine and dandy for Bali. Drink lots of water to flush your system, and stick on copious amounts of aqueous. Only thing you might want to consider is not flashing that bit of you to the sun when on hols. Then again, were you really considering going topless? ![]()
It can be a bit scary reading ahead on the forum. I’ve been here since last December, through chemo and just finished rads. Choose where you read, don’t read ahead if you don’t feel like it. It’s a fabulous forum. I couldn’t have done this so well without all the support here.
Chris, don’t worry about slightly delayed rads. You’re already on the Arimidex and the surgery was your first best thing, especially with such an early stage. You’ll do fine kiddo.
Congratulations on getting through the active treatment part chipper! I’m now on tam too. Not so bad so far. Hope it’s the same for you.
thanks Carole - so far so good, only been 3 weeks almost on tamox. but it seem alright - am very tired though…but can’t decide whether that’s just me !
Agree with Carole’s advice too on not leaping too far ahead - I think taking things step by step is the best policy.
Hi Carole thanks for the reassuring words re my radiotherapy - delayed due to bad bruising and redness but has now recovered. Had my schedule in post this morning rads will be from 3 - 24 November. You have managed to put it into prespective for me now.
Take care Chris x
Awwsss, how lovely to come back from my weekend in Liverpool and finding all your comments, TY Chris,Carole and Chipper. And yes all these terms and abbreviations can be a little confusing, tho no doubt as i go through the stages it will all become obvious, sound advice, after initially surfing the whole site it makes sense and of course depends how strong ones feeling to keep it within my limitations. All still very surreal though Im sure it will kick in once Ive had my op.I shall think of the lapping waves of Bali whilst i count to 10 !! I do worry about how big the scar will be and whereabouts. Is bio oil good for the scar? as i scar so easily. Hugs to you all xx~Deb~xx
thinking of Bali and lapping waves etc sounds a brilliant idea !
There is a thread on bio oil somewhere, possibly in the radiotherapy section - people do seem to rate it !
As for the scar, I suppose it depends again on size of tissue being removed and where on your breast it is…are you having a sentinel node biopsy too,or any lymph nodes removed for checking ?
My scars are nice and neat I think and not too alarming !
hi good luck on wed will be thinking of you, have been newly diagnosed myself following routine screening mammogram.
Will be off to theatre 15th oct for guide wire excision and node sampling. Cant seem to stop crying at moment hope this scary feeling gets better quite anxiousabout rads too
heyups chipper !! yah having SNB done aswell… omg i even seem to be picking up the lingo of abbreviations !! LOLOLOL. i hear i wee blue but it wont last forever… *giggles* as you can tell iam in that sort of verging on slight hysterics… or prolly its just me ! as they say you can take the girl away from liverpool but you cant take the scouser(and humour) out of the girl *huggs* ~Deb~
oh yes, you’ll be bandying the abbreviations around before very long. Turquoise wee is quite amusing I must say ! SNB scar is very small but was more uncomfortable than the WLE because of where it is - but it was all tolerable ! Where are you in Suffolk (nosy old me)- I love Suffolk - don’t say,if you’d rather not !
hey chipper… i live in woodbridge, suffolk. and yes a lovely part of the country x
hey Zea… ty honey… I just sent you a garbled message on your thread… i have found it so difficult concentrating off late, and yeah like you … all over the place emotionally. But is fantastic to actually write it down these feelings on this site, and to find that others feel the same… take care and i will be thinking of you xx Deb
Woodbridge -lovely !
Do you go to hospital tomorrow or on Wednesday ? I had to go in at crack of dawn on the day. Will certainly be thinking of you and sending good thoughts and love x
Hello Deb, just come across your posts and wanted to wish a fellow scouser good luck for the op. I hope all your results come back clear and you can start packing for Bali. You’ll never walk alone on this forum…!
Sheila xx
Hi Deb, After your SNB You will be peeing & No 2.s blue for about 3 days or so after your op, it’s very weird, and your boob will be blue too, mine still is 3 weeks post op! I had to have a lumpectomy on both boobs, (just my bad luck! having cancer in both boobs)
Zea - The Wire excision thing is not a very nice procedure, I rate it about the same as core biopsy, both of which I had to have. They will give you a local though before putting the wire in and they leave it taped in place so the surgeon can be guided where to operate. Good luck, will be thinking of you. Jackie xx
