PS - had a check on down there and it’s there but very sparse. My niece’s friend says hers has hardly come back ! xx
I never thought I’d miss my hair “down below” as much! I wish it would hurry up and return.
Jibby - just seen your dry scalp question - anti-dandruff shampoos can be quite harsh. I put some E45 cream on initially but then started washing my “hair” (all 3mm of it) with aqueous cream. I rubbed it in well then washed the excess off. Aqueous cream isn’t v expensive and you can get tubs of it from places like Boots and Superdrug. It says on the tub that it is for skin conditions and can be used as a soap subsitute. I was quite dry and my scalp and this has pretty much cleared up the problem. Hope this works for you as well.
I’m sending good hair-growing vibes to everyone’s follicles! I’m thinking of my hair as being in tune with the seasons. Barren in winter but growing as we head towards spring and I’ll be blooming by the summer!
Nicola
PS Not tried this yet as aqueous cream working well for now but when my son had persistent cradle cap, we would put olive oil on it (as you use in cooking!), leave it for an hour or two then wash normally. I’d then use a nit comb (very fine teeth) to gently comb out the bits of dry skin. Hair left a bit greasy for a day or so but it would clear up the persistent bits.
Hi All
I have just contacted a woman who I spoke to very early on in my treatment and again after my hair loss. She has a company called Cancer Hair Care and the website should be up by May.
Anyway, she’s great and she recommended that I don’t clipper my hair to encourage growth, rather to massage daily with a very mild shampoo (she recommends an organic lavender one from Waitrose) or get an Indian Head Massage which stimulates the blood cells, growth etc. Sounds great too!
I have her email address which I don’t think I can heand out on the forum but if anyone wants to private message me I’ll pass it along.

Lucy - I notice that there’s a list of wig/hat suppliers at the end of that leaflet. It doesn’t include the US site that a lot of us have got headcovers from - you know the one I mean! They post to the UK and have a huge range of indoor and outdoor hats that are a much younger and trendier style than some of the other turbans available. Could their website address be added to the approved list of wig/hat suppliers on that leaflet as I feel it would benefit a lot of women?
Nicola
Hi Lucy and Nicola
Agree totally. I have been asked on at least seven occasions where I got mine from. They are superb, and not dear at all. And incredibly responsive.
Cheers

Hi Nicola
Yes - I agree with you about anti-dandruff shampoo being too harsh with chemicals etc. I’ve put a thin smear of Vaseline aroung the hairline and that’s taken some of the dryness away from that area. But, I don’t fancy putiing grease/cream all over (I’ll leave that as a last resort!). I used to use olive oil too when my babies had cradle cap.
The hair coming back is so different from my previous hair. It’s grey and dry and Brillo Pad-ish and I think it’s developing the “chemo-curl” which I hate. It’s the complete opposite of what I had before and is taking some getting used to! But, I’m just so glad to have it back. Anyway, I’ve ordered some Organic Rosemary shampoo from Green People. It’s for normal/oily hair but it’s for an itchy, flakey scalp. Fingers crossed it works!
Concerning headcovers/wigs, I agree with you and Dilys about the US site. I got alot of things from them. I also phoned them once for advice whilst placing an order. They were very friendly and helpful.

If I say the site I think everyone is referring to is called headcovers & it’s American will that get me into trouble with the moderator?
Hope not, but it certainly is the site I was thinking of.
Cheers

hi everyone
Only just joined the site. With regard to hair regrowth I used a product called nioxin. This can be bought off the net or some high street hairdressers. It is the starter pack that I used, cleanser, scalp therapy and a treatment mousse, costs around £30-£40. However use it twice a week and it lasts approx 3 months. I used this as soon as my hair started to grow back. It returned a bit fluffy, but the texture soon changed and I had no patches at all. My hairdresser recommended nioxin and thinks this is why my hair came back equal all over my scalp.
However was burnette before chemo, it came back white and grey, so now I’m blonde lol!
Hi All
Mine is doing great with no help. But seems to be black. It was blonde before. What is that???

Mine is the same colour but I noticed yesterday that there is also a few grey hair in there still, amongst my natural brunette. Oh well, I plan to dye it blonde when it’s long enough anyway! I’d never dyed my hair before but I got a huge amount of extra grey hairs between diagnosis and hair dropping out.
I keep willing my hair to grow faster but it’s not playing ball. Soooooo slow!
Mine is growing like weeds… so are my fingernails and toenails…what is happening here. My hair has been growing for about three weeks and it is noticeable by the day.
Today it has gone a bit lumpy rather than flat and sleek. I think I have the starts of curls and It grows to a bit of a point in the middle, A bit of Mr Beckhams old style. I think it is paler than before but has two " Mallen " streaks but still very short on both sides although left is now thicker than right…are you picturing this???
Hi Topper
I am picturing this - I am getting Mallens and badger - am I on the right lines?! I have one FEC to go - friday - can’t wait and am desperate for my hair to come back.
Was dark and straight before - so I bet I’ll now be grey or ginger and curly - but I just want hair.
Are you still wearing a wig, or letting it all hang out now? What about your eyebrows?
Tracey
Hi Tracey
Last FEC oh well done!!!
It’s a big milestone. My last was on 30 th Nov.
My hair started to grow about 3 weeks later and visitors at Christmas were saying yes it’s growing…Oh it’s showing darker than yesterday!!
Yes you are right on the badger… mallens but it came through blonde before light brown so has white ends on the dark. Wondered whether to shave it but I think I rather like it.
The last week or so it has really taken off and so nice not to wear a hat to bed. The eyebrows have only just got going this week.
I didn’t wear a wig, just a selection of hats. Mostly I get quite hot so didn’t wear it unless it was cold and usually take it off in shops. Nobody seems to bother, take notice or stare.
Does this give you any hope!!!
Good Luck for Friday. I’ll be thinking of you.
hi, i ve got 2 tax t go but can’t wait for hair to grow back, i was taking to a lady a while ago who had chemo 2 years ago ,she said she was advised by her chemo nurse to take sea kelp tablets and rub coconut oil into scalp at night, she did exactly that and has a full thick head of hair now it looked great! haven’t heard of this anywhere else but it seemed to work for her.

Hi All
How is everyone’s hair doing now? Mine is getting better by the day though is not allowed out on its own yet. Still dark instead of fair but I really don’t care! I have those annoying hairs on my big oes again, and the irritating ones round the remainng nipple!
Loads of love

Hi Dilys,
I’m up to nearly 1cm now. I thought it was shorter than that but on close inspection…
I can’t wait until it’s long enough to be combed and need styling again. I was looking at photos the other day and whereas before I would have thought oh my hair doesn’t look so good, now I look and think how fantastic my hair was back then!! I will never, ever complain about a bad hair day again!
My lovely husband keeps saying why don’t you go hatless now and even though I think no way, it’s nice to know that he thinks I look ok.
It’s nice to get back hair down below as well (sorry if too much information!!!) - I hated feeling like I was 10yrs old again.
Sending good cyber vibes for quick hair regrowth for everyone!

Hi All
My hair looks like its getting darker each day - could be wishful thinking ! but I do have the badger traits. And I’m sure it’s starting to curl. I have a picture of the colour I want it to be - I had dark brown hair before and just going grey at the sides but now is White/grey but as I said I THINK its going darker. It growing quite well and starting to come over my ears !
