Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi All,

Yep fine by me, I’m doing a hair cut for my neighbour at 10am and I said I’d stay for a coffee… but I’ll be able to make it for 12.30 ok…I get the X8 bus which lets me off bottom of Bothwell street, station is only across the road. I can get the train, but I think bus is quicker. Pauline I’ll PM you my mobile, just in case I’m running late…

Look forward to tomorrow, hope everyone can make it. xxx

Hi All

I should be OK for tomorrow - as long as 4 yr olds tummy is ok. I’ll sign in tomorrow morning to confirm.

I got my wig today and have ‘bonded’ with it already! I got it fitted and trimmed today and will go back again and get it re-fitted once my hair is no more.

When I’m organised I post a new photo.

Hope everyone is OK

See you soon

Helen

Hi
would love to meet up going for a wig fitting in the morning

Hi girls - sorry I missed you all today. Getting new Broadband on computer so didn’t get message till now. Hope you had good time and would love to meet up with you all at some time.
JO - how is the training doing. You are amazing doing this.
FIONA - are you getting used to wig yet. Once hair starts to come out in handfuls it is better just to get it shaved off. Drastic it seems but much better.
ANNIE - what a great feeling - your last chemo. Hope you get on OK when you see Dr Y. He’s my consultant too and sometimes he’s not easy and hard to know what he’s thinking. He always just tells me he doesn’t have a crystal ball!!
HELEN - hope you getting used to wig also. As I said to Fiona just shave hair off if it is coming out in handfuls.
Just been for a facial and feel quite relaxed. Ready for a wee glass of wine to complete the relaxation.
Going to my sisters in Melrose tomorrow for the weekend . Really looking forward to that as she really looks after me.

Hi All

I’m really glad I was about to make lunch today, it was great meeting up and having a good chat. The food was lovely and I’m still stuffed. Sorry I had to dash off but just panicked a bit when John said he was still rough and had got a Dr’s appointment and the baby hadn’t been well at nursery.

I had to laugh when I collected 7yr old from after school club, I bumped into a mum I hadn’t seen for ages and she said she loved my hair cut, and asked if I’d just had it done today – so I had to enlighten her that it was my glamorous new wig! Just in case you didn’t notice today, we’ve totally bonded – I love my new look!

Jo / Tracey how was Sharon today?

Well, my friend is coming over from Ireland for the weekend, so I’m off to give the house a good ‘visitor coming to stay’ clean!.

Hope everyone else is well.

Helen

Hi All,

Really enjoyed today…so glad we all got together. I must admit I’m quite tired tonight, will prob hit the sack and watch telly shortly. Sorry you missed today sheila, I know you were keen to come and meet up, we will just have to do it again real soon. x

Helen - I hope John and Seren are ok now? Good about the wig, you definately suit it and it does look very natural, and for me to say that about a wig is good… we are so goona have to peel you away from it when the treatment’s finished…

Jo- I am so pleased to hear that sharon has managed to text you and that she is doing good, did you manage to visit her Today?

Fuzzyface - Sorry you couln’t make lunch, How did your Rads go today? what treatment are you getting for the secondries? are you only having rads?

Think I’ll bite the bullet and shave my hair off Friday night, I need to wash it in the morning, and I have a feeling must of it will be in the plug hole… my friend has offered to do it and I can trim it short first before the clippers… Thought I was going to handle this better than I am, but never mind I’ll probably feel better when it’s all gone, it’s just the doing it…

Pauline and Yvonne good to see you today, looking forward to doing it again…

Annie, Tracy and Angela hope you are well…

Love and hugs

Hi all

Well I did it. The hair has gone!! Number 4 with the clippers. Having to have a camomile tea to recover!!! Decided I was only prolonging the agony. It was coming out in handfuls. Now I do feel a bit better. I have to bond with the wig now wether I like it or not!!

Love

Spoke to her after she came back up fron surgery and they have put in another drain in to clear the fluid there was nothing blocked, she now has 3 drains in and she is feeling alot better now, she is still in a lot of pain but spoke to her this morning and they were giving her some morphine to help her with the pain…

Fiona and Pauline, sharon got your cards and says thanks very much…

Will keep you all posted on her progress

Hi
good result today HER2 negative. fiona glad you bit the bullet think i will need something stronger than tea. i am sure you will look as glamerous as helen and pauline (just stop playing with it
Enjoyed lunch so much i did it again yesterday- make hay while the sun shines- going for wig fitting tomorrow.

Hi Fiona

Take it easy, I think we’re all allowed to have off days, but you know you’ll bounce back. I’m sure when your hair falls out is when you finally have to accept the reality of what’s happening, maybe thats why I’m not ready to give up on my hair quite yet.

I have to admit I felt a bit crap this morning too, as the kids were both up in the night so didn’t get much sleep and ended up shouting at them and feeling really guilty!. Woke with an ulcer and 2 white spots on my tonsils, so think sleepless nights have finally caught up with me on my low w/e - great. Temp ok but checked with Dr as didn’t want white spots to turn into tonsillitis, so she’s sending the district nurse up to take my bloods tomorrow and check throat as she doesn’t want me to go down to the surgery.

Wore my wig again today and luv it!

Jo – thanks for keeping us updated about Sharon, poor thing having to go back down for surgery.

Yvonne - glad your test results are HER2 negative.

Take care all.

Helen

Hi Yvonne…

Thats good news about your Her2 status.
Having difficulty sleeping…think I over did it today…fired into the housework…tut, tut.
Happy wig fitting…reminds me to take up my second voucher for irish jig.I really like Andreana at St.Enochs Square.
Makes all the difference when people can empathise with you.

Hi Everyone

Glad you enjoyed your lunch, would be really interested if you are meeting up again. Cyber chat is great but it’s nice to meet people in person.

Fiona, it is a traumatic time but i found shaving it off was the best thing to do. My kids felt really sensitive about this issue and always wanted me top have my wig on when their friends were over or if i went to school. However when it was just us in the house i went Au natural or i wore a buff. They were great easy to put on, no seems so very comfy. Hope it gets easier.

P thanks for the message, Rads now over. Must admit it was harder this time but because of where they were targeting it hits the stomach and bowel so side effects likely. Onwards and upwards as they say.

I can’t yet remember everyone else’s names so hope you are all well and doing something nice for the weekend.

My husband left this morning for a walking weekend with friends to Noidart and the youngest leaves for Brownie camp tonight, so only eldest and i left. I sense a trip to the DVD shop and some popcorn coming on. Have a trip to the hospice planned for next week to look at day services. I’m no planning on popping my clogs just yet but seemingly they offer a really good range of services to help you cope so i am prepared to give it a go. Got to go cleaner is in so i need to move rooms. Best thing i did at dx as she does all the heavy stuff.

Take care everyone.

Hi All

Well I’ve just had the district nurse up to take my bloods and she thinks I’ve got a touch of tonsillitis – but feeling fine, so not panicking … yet!. She was really stroppy when she appeared & demanded to know why she should have to do a house call to someone who is obviously very mobile! – I then lost count of the number of times she apologised after I explained I was having chemo and the Dr didn’t want me at the surgery on day 11, if I already had a possible infection lurking.

Fiona – how you are feeling now?

Pauline – take it easy, the housework can wait.

Fuzzyface – I hope you have a nice girly night tonight.

Yvonne – how are the wig fittings going.

Jo –are you having your chemo today? I hope you’re feeling ok.

Annie – Have a good time in Blackpool

Hope everyone else is fine and has a good weekend.

John and kids have just headed off to feed the ducks so I’m off for a lie down.

Hugs

Helen
