Hi Fuzzyface…

DVD and popcorn sound good.I currently access Accord Hospice complementary therapy services initially to help with the SE OF CT and stress associated with this illness.Have to say find the girls great there.Which hospice are you going to?
Fiona…Have you reached the heads of Ayr yet?Did you phone up BCN and get referred to Accord Hospice ?
Helen…Sorry to hear you DN had a strop. She must have been having a bad hair day…not like you with the glamarous irish jig!!!Reckon she was jealous.
Maud day…I am not a bankie myself but welcome to our gang and of course you can come along to our wee eat as much and drink as much as you like days.
Planning on going to the beer festival in paisley tomorrow…wish it was a wine festival though.

Hope you all have a nice weekend and take care of yourselves.

Hi All,

Feeling a lot better Today. Me and the wig went to meet a friend for coffee yesterday, I did ok. Very concious of looking different and felt everybody was looking at me and they probably weren’t. I’ve came down to Ayr today to my dad’s, the sun is shining and it’s very nice.

Great news Yvonne about the Her2. One less thing to worry about. How did the wig fitting go?

Hope you’re feeling better Helen and the throat is ok. How’s all the family been? Not still suffering with any bugs I hope. X

Pauline- I’m going to get on to BCN next week about hospice. Think I need some complimentary therapy now!!

Welcome Maud Dav. Nice to have you on the thread. Let is know when your up here and well definately meet up for lunch.

Fuzzyface - hope you had a nice girly night with your daughter. Nice to chill out and relax before bedlam returns. My youngest is away on school trip on 11th may for 5 days. The house will be so quiet when he’s away as he’s too noisy for his own good!!! He’s not even allowed a mobile!!! BLISS!!

Well I’m off to B&Q. Woo! Think I’ll sit in the car and have a nap! Sun is lovely and warm!

Hope everyone else is doing good, Jo, you heard any more from Sharon?

Take care for now

Love Fiona xxx

Hi All
Hope everyone is OK and had a good bank hol weekend.

We just had a quite one, baby got her second tooth and is now pulling herself up and trying to walk around the furniture – yep proud mum here! My tonsillitis scare turned out to be thrush spots, which was a huge relief.

Yvonne – my wig is a ‘Rene of Paris’ wig, style: Laine, in ginger brown. Its quite a long style, but I had it cut to shoulder length.
Fiona – Did you have a good weekend in Ayr? How are you feeling about your wig now? Do you have your second chemo tomorrow? Good Luck I’ll be thinking of you.
Jo - Have you heard from Sharon?

Take Care all

Helen

Hello All,

Getting ready for 2nd chemo tomorrow. Will be glad when it’s all over, the thought of the side effects are making me a bit anxious. The wig is ok, I’m not wearing it tomorrow as it’s too itchy and tomorrow is another long day. Mind you I had it on all day today but then I was rushing about and I had the hat over it which helps it itch less.

Annie- great you’re having a good time in Blackpool. Hope your weather is better than ours!!! X

Helen- Seren will be up and off soon now that she’s cruising the furniture. Did you get some nystan for thrush. I getting given some tomorrow incase mine comes back. Along with some mouthwash. I was hoping they’d reduce the dose a bit to help with symptoms but the stomach trouble is down to the steroids and understandably they won’t take me off them. Fingers crossed the omeprazole works miracles. How have you been feeling other than the thrush?

Yvonne- good luck for Wednesday, just incase I don’t get back on tomorrow.

Everybody else - I hope you’re doing fine. Xxx

Love and hugs

hi everyone

Still no chemo for me on fri, bloods are low back again this fri, I am feeling great not had any chemo for about 5 wks, only things is its just prolonging the time.

Spoke to sharon a over the weekend and she is doing great she got one drain out on sat, still got a bit of pain going to see her on wed again i will let her know you are all asking for her…

Sheila, sharon got her card and she says thanks…

take care lol jo x

Been at my sisters in Melrose for the weekend. had a really nice time/ Did some shopping and had a nice meal out on Friday night. Missed keeping in touch with you all so it has taken me some time to catch up.
Was at hospital yesterday. Bloods marginal but starting on Xeloda again today. Still don’t know for how long I’ll be on it. Need a break as I have been so tired.
Hope you’re all doing OK. I know how hard it can be especially to stay bright and breezy for friends and family. Sometimes we just need a good cry or to feel sorry for ourselves.
HELEN - hope you’re feeling OK and the tonsillitis isn’t too bad
FIONA- hope chemo OK today. You’ll feelrubbish for a few days but should get better. Glad your getting used to wig but I know how self concsious it makes ou feel.
YVOYVO - pleased that you got good results
Sorry to hear that Sharon had a bit of a setback. Hope she’s doing OK now
Love to all the rest of you
Sheila

Joanne - just saw you were on forum. Sorry you didn’t get chemo. Know how you feel as that happened to me every time. I eventually got an injection Think it is called Neulasta. You should ask if you can get it. It really worked and didn’t make me feel so tired. Hope all goes well on Friday

Hi all,

Back from chemo. Only 4 hrs this time but I was there 7 in total so I’m knackered!!

Couldn’t reduce the dose due to being on trial. So the side effects will have to be managed as best as possible. If it doesn’t work this time i’ve to go back in and see them.

Sorry Jo you’re not getting chemo. Sounds great to get a nice break, but as you said it’s just prolonging things. Good to hear Sharon is getting there slowly but surely. Tell her I’m sending hugs! X

Sheila- good your getting xeloda today. It must take lots out of you too. My symptoms kick in Day 4. But I’m going to take it very easy for the next few days to try minimise side effects. The doc came round to talk about my mouth and gave me loads of tips and hints and food to eat. Porridge a sure winner!!! Hope you rest and take it easy too. X

Yvonne- good luck for tomorrow. X

Helen- hope you’re doing fine. Your White cells on the increase now!!! The only way is up. X

Ok Girls I’m off to bed. Take care to everyone else I missed. Xxx

Hugs

Hi Guys,

Back from Plackpool and into a wee bit of a bomb site. Just a wee bit. Electricain is doning work today and getting ceiling finished on Sat, but looking grand.

Dn was in this am to give me jab, I too get the neo thing ( I have given myself 2 jabs in emergencies, when I couldn’t be home) they do seem to buck you up, but last month I gor the bone pain, across my breastbone and hips. Was told that just proves they’re working.

Was advised to call doc as the throat is gearing up for an infection, and the tongue too. I had Nystin last course (still have some left as it seemed to work so fast) So sorry they delayed your chemo Tracy. They did that for mine and it just prolong the process. The jabs boost your blood count through your bome marrow, so perhaps you should request them? I have only had one incident of discomfort with them.

No probs with the feet this time, so far.

Helen, sweetheart, don’t know how you can cope with a wee baby at this time. Your are a hero, and obvoiusly an adoring mum.

Fiona, I am in chemo for no more than an hour, and I am on a 3 combo (FEC) Why is your treatment so long, tiring and arduous? This is even when they can’t use the prevoius vein and had to use my other hand!

I am seeing my onc tomorrow and thuthfully, am sick with nerves. Don’t quite know why. Lack of control probably, and the now unknown. I wa scheduked for 4 FEC, so last Fri was meant to be my last, but they have scheduled another ‘just in case’ as they are so busy. Mr Yusef, who also treated my brother is, I know, hard to read, though I beleive brilliant.

I know this is early stages for most of us, but if here is anyone (Sharon apart) who can give me clue as to tomorrow,- and beyond! well there a large swallie on next lunch - courtesy of moi! I am having real concerns if they found anything in all the tests etc and are waiting to give me the news now that I have been through a stage of this journey.

Does anyone know when Sharon is coming out? I sent a card but didn’t know her last name, hope it reached her!

Well that’s my catharsis over! It does take it out of you being positive the whole time when we are beset by fears of the unknown. Still know nothing about rads, by the way! Or herceptrin, Or even if I am to get a mast or lump. Save questions for Yusef (not espectng definitive answers tomorrow re chemo, will I get more, will I need more post surgery etc, and will pass on my experience to you guys) Hopefully will see Mr Musa soon to discuss surgery options. I don’t really know what a drain is!! Och well, life is a discovery.

Was Sharon meant to be in hosp or a fortnight? Seems ever such a long time.

Going to the Haven with the nephew now while the house is being electrified. Be good for the lad to get some councilling, having lost so many family members to all sorts of thing in the last 2 and a bit years. Tells on kids (he’s 21! and 6’1")

Speak later girls. Hope you are all keeping well. Hope your bloods allow you the strength to get the poison, hope your partners, kids and babies are thriving, hope your wigs bond to you like they own you (mine’s is now scabby, need stiching etc, due a new one next month) hope you keep your lovely chins up and your sense of humour right up there. And we will beat his.

Love you lots like jellytots

Annie w

Hi girls - hope you’re all ok and putting up with this dreadful weather. Can’t wait for sunshine and be able to sit ourside.
Annie - I hope you get on OK with Dr Yusef and he answers all your questions. He’s my consultant too and althought he’s a great doctor
he doesn’t have many people skills. I’m always asking questions but he dosn’t always give you answers. I quite often write down everything before I see him.

Hi all
Good news today no spread got all clear get heart scan next week before starting Epirubicin for 4 treatments then 3 in 1 of Cyclophosphamie + Methotrexate + 5-Flurouracil for 4 treatments anyone had this treatment or any of these drugs. What are side affects, how quick hair loss, any bit of info would be really appreciated

wowo,

Sorry for butting in.I’m from Glasgow and was treated at the Beatson June2008-Jan2009. Had my yearly appointment today with surgeon. I had Epi-CMF too. My hair started to come out a week or so after my 2nd Epi.Last chemo in Nov, followed by rads.Back at work and look as though I’be had a crazy home perm.I’m happy to pass on any info you need.
Good Luck with the treatment.
Tricia

Thanks Tricia its really anything you can think of that worked well
any tips you were given that you thought were good. It sounds bad but I am trying to make life as easy as possible for me in any other context that would sound so selfish.

Morning All,

Feeling ok this morning, trying to manage stomach symptoms as best as I can, Feels a little better than last time. Heartburn not so bad, I took final steroids this morning so by tomorrow I will have a better picture…I feel a bit more confident about side effects, If they happen at least I know what to do… hopefully!!

Welcome Tricia, nice to have someone else on board… you’ll be a good help to Helen and Yvonne and Jo, who are going through the same treatment you had.

Yvonne - great about you having no futher spread, hope you had a good wee drink to celebrate!! you’ll feel better about what treatment you’re getting and now you can prepare yourself. When does your treatment start? Helen’s had 2 Epi so far and she has been very good as you saw… Jo is onto the CMF, so a wee bit further down the line.

Pauline - how did you get on yesterday, another long appointment. Hope you got things sorted out…

Helen - How you getting on? how’s the hair doing? I’m nearly completely bald now… down to soft blonde down now!! funny thing is I’m not that bothered now…ok so i’m still weird when I look in the mirror but I just think ‘ah well, whatever’ now !!

Sheila - I’m with you on the weather thing!! I’d love some sunshine even just to look out the window at…I think it just lifts everybody’s spirits…

Annie - sounds like you had a great time on hols… hope your house is up to scratch soon, you’ll feel much better. Lots of luck with the onc today? hope you get all the information you need. I only had lumpectomy so if your having a mastectomy, I’m not so clued up on them. my best friend had one and she did just fine. she had 4 fec before the op and 4 fec after, but then no rads and went on to tamoxifen, now on arimidex. I have one last TAX and herceptin then I have 3 FEC so it’ll be great to be in and out in an hour instead of 4.

well, lots of love to all
