Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Girls,

Yvonne, Re vouchers for lunch, I have a spree book, which is packed with lots of 2 for 1 offers for lots of restarants in Glasgow. I’ll bring it with me.

Sharon, Pauline + anyone else who hasn’t answered - can you make it for lunch next Thursday? hope you are both well and good luck Sharon for Sunday. I think you sent me link for sponsor? will go on today and do that.

Annie, How you getting on? haven’t heard from you in a while… Have they whipped you in and done your Boob?

Jo, Good luck with the run on sunday…Hope you had a nice holiday.

Tracy - great to hear you are kept really busy and getting on with life, bet it feels good to finally finish chemo…

Helen, hope you are resting and taking it easy… I’m a bit nervous about starting a new chemo. As much as I hate TAX, at least I know the side effects now and I can deal with them as they trot along. Ciaran’s award night is 6 days after chemo so that’s a relief… just hope like you I’m not sitting trying not to throw up.

Lesley, Hope your meds are starting to work for you now. Will be great if you can see us next week. If we all meet up about midday, we’ll still be in town, just in case we don’t choose restrant till we meet, I’ll PM you my mobile no and you can ring me when you get out of hospice and I’ll tell you where we are. would that be ok?

Linda, How are you getting on? hope things are well with you after the op…

well off to get some breakfast!!

Take care

Hi girls - weather not so good today. Missed sitting out in sun.
Started Xeloda on tuesday - Dr Yoself says I have to get two more lots then I can have a break over the summer. I’m really tired so ready for a break to get my strength back. Only thing is tumour will eventually start to grow again when chemo stops.
My sister has chipped a bone in her foot so probably won’t be able to do Moon Walk. She’ll be so disappointed.
Look forward to meeting up with you next week.
Sheila

Evening…

Still over at my mums for r&r.
Implants and arm still sore…getting there though.
Got appointment next thursday but currently in process of rearranging the time.
Back at my own house tomorrow.
Take care everyone
Big hugs

hiya all

sorry not been posting for a wee bit… just been coming to terms with the results of my histology.

my cancer is triple negative… which was the first shock.
it was also almost twice the size that they scanned it at the day before and was measured at 1cm on ultrasound but came back as 1.9cm extending to 2.5cm including high grade DCIS.
the 1 node they took was negative but i was found to have lymphatic invasion.
its also a basal cell type which is more common in genetic mutations :frowning:

all in all not the worst diagnosis but not the best either… was hoping it would be the same as the last time :frowning: so was feeling really down about it all at first.

now just trying find information as going to see my onc next fri as they think im gonna be on E-CMF for the next 6 months and rads after this.

also need to stop my tamoxifen for my first cancer while i have treatment for the second one… makes life all the more complicated…

i have also developed a seroma and have an internal stitch poking through my scar which is now red and inflamed so going to the WGH for a check up with the seroma nurse specialist tomorrow afternoon.

sorry this is an ‘all about me’ post :frowning:

id love to come and meet you all on the 11th but just not sure id feel up to it… but its a week away so hopefully be better by then.

will try to post a bit more now too

Lynda xxxx

Hi Lynda

Just wanted to say sorry that your path results weren’t what you had hoped for. I know how down that can make you feel, just be kind to yourselfand take the time you need. Hope you get relief tomorrow when you visit the hospital. Will be thinking about you.

Hi girls

What a rotten day it looks like it’s going to be, off out to the pub tonight, will stay in tomorrow save myself for Sunday.

Linda - Sorry to hear your news but stay positive, you are getiing treated for this nasty thing and these people know what they are doing. Angela is also triple negative
As with your Seroma, its nothing to worry about that’s me had mine drained 4x now and I’m 5 weeks down the line, also have 2 stitches poking out they just cut down for me, they are dissolving stiches and will go away themselves.

Fiona, Pauline, Sheila, Tracy - thank you for sponsoring me, really appreciate it.

Pauline hope you enjoyed your rest at your mums, my arm is still sore also.

Sheila sorry to hear your sister will miss out of the Moon walk, I’ll maybe try that next year.

Hope you all have a good weekend

Big hugs
Sharon

P.S I should be ok for thursday

Hi All, I havent been on in ages, I’m back at work and have been a bridesmaid at a wedding etc so it has been a very busy time for me.

Lynda, Im tripple negative too, if there is one concelation, you know the cancer is not encorraged by the hormones we have. It does mean there is one less treatment they can give us, but apparently tripple nagative cancers respond really well to chemo so there is a bright side. Hope you feel better about it all soon.

I still havent heared from Glasgow Royal about geting a recon, my surgeon Mr Musa said I needed to lose 2 stone in weight before I would be considered. but he would refer me anyway. So I dont know if he has, or if there is such a big waiting list that I will have to wait ages to hear.

Had the DLA Dr here yesterday. He said that he doesnt make the desissions. but he can almost guarantee I wount get it as they look at it for people who cant go to the loo by them selfs and cant heat a tin of soup. Oh well, guess Id better get those hours at work up a bit to pay of the debt accumulated while I was being treated, great eh!

Im doing the race for life too, so far I have raised £847, I really wanted to make it to the £1000 mark, but I think im pushing my luck now hehe. Oh well. I cant beleive they want us there at 8.30am, thats bothering me more than the walk is lol.

Im off work today and sods law the sun has gone in, my fault girls… if id been at work it would have been nice and sunny. Oh well!

Hope everyone is ok.

Take care

Angela

Angela your right…its good to have a more optimistic slant on it… unfortunately i was just looking at the negatives… but have been finding more information about triple negative and feeling a wee bit better about it.

was at the hosp today and apparently my serona isnt a seroma after all but an internal haematoma from what she was saying… no bruising on the surface but a large hard swelling under the skin… the nurse thinks it will get worse before it gets better.

she also cut my dangley stitch which feels an awful lot better as it was jagging into my arm.

Angela and Sharon i would like to sponsor you too… if you can point me in the right direction for a link to your donate pages ill oblige.

fingers crossed for your DLA app too Angela… my daughter gets DLA and the applications are a nightmare.

Hi

Sorry, Just having a freaking out moment!!! a second year pupil at my eldest’s school has swine flu!! now what do I do? they’re only sending the 2nd year pupils home with tamiflu…I’m thinking of just keeping him off anyway, there’s no way I can even chance catching this. I have just discovered a new level of paranoia!!!

Fiona xxx

hi Fee

I understand your concerns its something i have been a bit worried about too… but tamiflu can be given as a preventative measure so perhaps speaking to your onc or gp and seeing if you could get it yourself.

im a nurse and work in glasgow, paisley and port glasgow which seems to have the majority of cases but im signed off work and dont intend going back till after iv finished chemo just in case…

its really worry cos people i know now know people with swine flu… its just getting that wee bit too close to home now.

i think it may be wise to keep him off as the child in second year may have siblings or friends in other years… think id tend to err on the side of caution.

Hiya Guys

Annie here, still chopping away on this Jurassic PC, as my wee laptop is still sick!

It was great running into Fiona and Yvonne at Maggie’s on Friday.

I got my date for surgery – Thur 18th and Yvonne reassured me that the Wire loop and total node removal is ok, thanks Yvonne, it sounds like a strange procedure, doesn’t it. I just hope the margins are ok and that I will not be recalled for a full mast. No point in trying to 2nd guess the outcome though. Will be in for about 3 days, Thank God, hope it’s less!

I am looking so forward to meeting you all on Thursday, but I might be late as I am waiting to have a new meter installed in the morning. If I’m held up, could someone text me the venue? Mobbie is 0788 88 303 17. Ta much!

Trying to tidy up garden before I go in, so back to the weeding!

Blessings and take care all.

Till Thursday,

Annie xx

Hi girls - had a good weekend at my sisters. She raised £550 at her coffee morning, which was really good but hard work. Doesn’t think she’ll be able to do Moon Walk but at least she’s made all that money towards it.
FIONA - what a scare you must have had when you heard about swine flu. Just thinking today about it as it seems that are a lot of cases in Paisley and Glasgow. Did you speak to your Oncologist for advice.
JO - hope you have a good week in St Andrews and don’t suffer from side effects from chemo.
LYNDA - so sorry to hear your results were not good. Takes time to some to terms with this, but would be good if you could get to lunch on Thursday.
PAULINE - are you home now. Hope you can rearrange your appointment so that you can get to lunch on Thursday.
How are the Race for Life girls. Are you suffering with sore feet today. Bet you were tired.
Love to everyone else
Sheila

Hi All
Hope everyone is doing OK. I’ve managed to avoid the nausea after this last chemo, in fact I only took the anti-sickness tablets on the first day and then totally forgot about them. But I’ve traded the nausea for a disgusting taste in my mouth and really don’t feel like eating – so it has some benefits – ha!

OMG Fiona – swine flu - I’d be freaking out too! I think you need to speak to your doctor or oncologist for advice – and then let us know what they say!. I can’t believe they’re only sending the 2nd year home with tamiflu – just seems crazy. The whole swine flu is such a worry, isn’t it.

Lynda – Sorry to hear about your new diagnosis, I can’t imagine what you must be feeling. But as Fiona said, it’s important to keep positive.

Sheila – I’m glad your sisters coffee morning was such a success.

Annie – Its good you now have a date for surgery.

Sharon & Jo – How are you feeling after yesterday? Hope you aren’t aching too much.

Pauline – how are you doing? Is your arm improving?

I’ve got an appointment at the lymphodema clinic in the morning, as I’ve got slight swelling in the thumb and 1st finger, then off to school sports in the afternoon. At least I’ve got an excuse this year not to run in the mums race.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday.

Helen

Hi Girls

Slight panic.

Got call from Grace, the BCN at Hairmyres.

Seems my bloods are low, they need to take some more to see if surgery can go ahead.

My Hg started out at 15, which is the top of the scale. T my last chemo, it had dropped to 10.9 and now it is less than 9! Just leaving for hosp now. at least I now know why I am so very tired and breathless. I got my pre-assessment end May, taken ages for them to get back to me! Has this happened to anyone else? I so want this all to be over, I am living in fear that the bloody thing will start growing again!

Sorry it’s a ‘me’ post. massive kudoa to all you wonderful ladies who completed the run - do not know how you could do that getting chemo! Even post chemo, what strength!

Looking forward to meeting you all, like I mentioned, I might be held up, could someone text me if I . Grazie amigos!

Any advice???

Gentle hugz

Annie xxxxxxxx

Hi Girls,

Feeling a bit fed up with all this swine flu malarky!! I spoke to BCN on Monday and she said to keep Ciaran off. The school were fine about it but I’ve since found out that most of the school has been kept off due to worried and angry parents… Parents can’t understand just excluding the one year. They share all the same facilities and do not have a very large area when it comes to socialising. it’s too small a school for 1200 pupils and we’ve all been very aware of this since it was built.

My BCN stressed her concerns over the lack of information even given to health professionals, she’s had nothing!!! she’s advised me to limit my movents and to exclude busy places, shopping centres and public transport, ect… so I’m now wondering whether to come in tomorrow?.

Pupils from an infected class at the local college about a mile away have been given Tamiflu and told to go in Today as normal. I think they’ve stopped trying to contain it here, there’s too many confirmed cases with a possible 380 cases in this area today alone…

Sorry I’m ranting!!!

Hi Annie, Hope all goes well with you today. Maybe there’ll be time to get your HG up before the op… fingers crossed… x

Jo, Hope you’re not feeling sick now and are having a good time in st Andrews…

Helen, The rotten taste is awful, my taste is just starting to return. Not that it stops me from eating of course… wish it did!!

well I hope everyone is doing ok… don’t know what to do about tomorrow??? I can drive in that’s not a problem… My dad’s coming up today, got a feeling he’ll have an opinion… I’ll be locked up till Xmas!!!

will come back on later and let you all know…

Luv N hugs

Hi girls

Once again thank you all for sponsoring me, I walked the 5k in 52 mins and met Jo at the end. I’m so proud of Jo for running it, she looked great after it too.
I fell asleep on couch when I got home and had great sleep that night, Mon I had sore hips but felt better yest. So proud of myself for completing it, especially as my joints have been aching loads recently.

Fiona - What a worry for you, maybe we should just cancel lunch tomorrow make it another time.

Annie - My bloods were good before surgery but had to get a blood transfussion couple days after as they weren’t going back up at all, just needed a wee hand. Felt much better after that.

take care all
