Hi girls
Congrats to Sharon and Jo for doing race for life. You have done so well.
Pauline - I had zoladex injections but had to go to GP for them. My daughter is a nurse but wouldn’t let her do it.
Sorry you won’t manage tomorrow - maybe you’ll feel better in morning and decide to come.
Lesley - going tomorrow - does someone have your mobile.
Fiona - yoou have enough to cope with without this Swine Flu. Hope you can manage tomorrow - we’ll try and cheer you up.
Annie - hope all OK at hospital. My bloods are always very low - on iron tablets for HG and white count is always less than 0.5 after chemo. Sometimes I get injections for this.
Helen - sorry to hear about sore arm hopefully Lymphodema clinic will help
Look forward to meeting tomorrow - 12 o’clock at Central Station - is that right
Sheila

Linda and Lesley - hope you can manage today. Text me and I can let you know where we are

Hi Guys
I hope everyone is doing OK.
I’m really sorry but I’m not going to be able to make today. I’m really struggling this week with a totally lack of energy which has taken me by surprise. I think I was hoping that I’d bounce back by today, but I even struggled to carry Seren upstairs this morning, so realistically I think coming into Glasgow will probably wipe me out. This is just so crap!
I’m off for a bath now, so if I’m feeling a bit brighter I’ll head through.
Have a lovely time.
Helen

sorry girls that i wassnt able to make it after all feeling a bit lousy with an upset tummy.

hope you all had a lovely time and hope to make the next one.

Hi Girls

Sorry I wasn’t able to make yesterday, I was totally shattered and spent the day in bed. I think the tiredness is one of the hardest SE’s to deal with when you’re so used to running about everywhere - I’m just feeling totally fed up with it all at the moment. I’ve just gone through my 3rd really bad hair loss week and was really worried whether it would all survive this time, but it seems to have stopped today – thank god. My hair is now really thin on the crown and I really couldn’t go out without something on my head, but at least it’s still there for the evenings - my unglam look!.

Sorry to have a moan, but at least its a lovely day and fingers crossed it’ll stay nice over the weekend.

Take care all

Helen

Helen - sorry you didn’t manage yesterday. It was just Yvonne and me but we had a nice time. Went to Ad Lib. Hope you’re feeling a bit better today. It must be so hard for you with a young family to look after when you are feeling so tired. I don’t know how you manage. Try not to feel too down - you’re halfway through chemo and that’s good.
Hope you all have a good weekend and the sun shines for us.
Sheila

sheila glad you and yvonne had a nice time and apologise again for not making it… but will def try and make the next one.

helen sorry your feeling a bit crap… hope youll be feeling a little bit better soon.

i have a date for my chemo… its starting on 25th, having a bone scan next wed and heart scan next thurs.

also have to cancel my holiday to benidorm as chemo lands in 1st week and would mean a 10 day delay so been advised thats too long a gap.

theres always next year… and just thankful im still allowed to go camping at t in the park.

take care

Hi Guys

Bit of a roller coaster this week, so sorry didn’t make it on Thur, or to Maggies on Friday.

Got call on Tue - a week before my surgery - to say that my bloods were low at my pre-op assessment a couple of weeks ago. They were 8.2, so the op was cancelled. Gave more blood on Thur, told to expect call after 10 on Friday, might have had to go in for transfusion on Friday(no wonder I was so awfully tired) That’s why I couldn’t make Maggie’s on Friday.

Anyway they are up to 10.9, so the op is back on for Thur. So much to do before I go in, including buying and having installed a new shower, as my existing one is just about done!

My laptop needs a new motherboard, so it’s now basically junk, less than a year old and cost me £800, cannot afford to replace and cursing the naff neff who baptised it with lemonade. He is brassic so no chance of replacing it. Could cry, so much expense this year, including a burst boiler, and naff all coming in courtesy of this useless shower who govern us. Keep trying to remember how many mirrors I smashed, ladders I walked under and cracks in the pavement I stepped on to have deserved this plethora of shiity luck since January!!!

I am just praying now that the margins are clear and I have full use of my left arm after the lymph surgery as my right arm is pretty compromised due to my accident. Finger crossed, eh?

Anyoldhow, that’s the news from the front guys. Will let you know how the surgery goes. fingers crossed and that’ll be another milestone is this journey passed.

BTW, you might have read in the papers about the restaurant serving Buckfast cheesecake? Yep, it’s 3 minutes from my house. make that our next venue??? Actually, it’s really superb (the restaurant, not the cheescake)

With love and best wishes to you all, hope your are all feeling better, because we are all having a hellish time of it just now, are we not? Be extra careful Fiona about the flu? Is there any advice, should we ask for the vaccination? Helen, Lesley, Lynda and Pauline - hope you splendid girls feel better soon. I keep telling myself “This too shall pass” - and it will. I already feel the worst effect of FEC gone, except for the sore, numb, feet and hands, and the tiredness now has a cause!!! It will be the same for all of you. I will probably have 2 courses of the Yew Tree chemo after surgery (I have been told to expect that) Any feedback on that girls? Forewarned is forearmed I feel.

Enjoy the rest of this lovely weekend my dear brethern, and speak soon.

Love and lollipops!!!

Annie xxxx

Hi girls - how was everyones weekend. Weather was OK and managed to sit out Saturday and Sunday for a short time.
Annie - glad your bloods OK and you can go ahead with surgery. What hospital. Hope you get everying organised before you go in. Take care and don’t tire ourself too much.
Helen - are you feeeling a bit better. Tiredness is just the pits. Nothing you can do for it but try and rest.
Linda - sorry you had to cancel your holiday - that must be a big disappointment. Did you manage to get your money back. What chemo are you getting.
Yvonne - how was your chemo. Hope you felt OK at weekend.
Fiona - what’s happening about swine flu. Hope you’re not too stressed about it.
How are all the rest of you girls
Take care
Sheila

hi sheila

im in a bit of a dark place right now… lots of worries on top of the cancer.

my chemo is gonna be e-cmf… not 100% happy as not getting a taxane as nodes are clear… even thought that seems to be a common treatment (neg nodes or not) for triple neg.

i have travel insurance from a company that specialises in patients with existing medical conditions… my annual policy was £65 including the BC for my family of 4… so hopefully i wont have any problems getting it all sorted out… they havent actually cancelled the holiday yet as im waiting for the docs from the insurance co.

hope everybody is doing ok.

Hi Girls,

Sorry I haven’t been on for a while, been a bit preoccupied and stressed with this flu thing… Did manage to get away to my friends caravan at Largs for the weekend, it was lovely, weather was perfect so that helped a lot.

Lynda, sorry to hear you’re feeling bad at the moment… I feel the mine field that is chemo is very confusing… so many different cocktails…!! I hope you feel better about your treatment. Is it right that you can never have the same chemo twice? I had heard that.

Good luck for Thursday Annie, will be thinking of you… PM me your address or ward address and I’ll send a wee card… oh I’m into that buckfast cheesecake by the way!! we’ll go there when you’re better…x

well I’m getting FECed tomorrow!! ooh can’t wait… nervous as hell as new chemo!! no steroids tonight which is lovely!! I might be getting marrow boosting jags, think my immune system needs a help!!

My oldest was put on Tamiflu this evening as his friend was confirmed after school today…there were 11 cases on Friday so God knows how many today. The doctor was very good and got him treated immediately, I have to speak to onc tomorrow about me but doc has given me a box to have in case… I am trying my best not to get stressed…easier said than done!!

Hope all you girls are doing good and keeping well… everybody seems to have lots going on.

Lots of Love

Hi guys sorry i didn’t make lunch but have been rather unwell. Mix up with my meds and i ended up having a toxic response so i haven’t been on this planet. Top that off with week of constipation and latterly vomiting and you have a not pretty picture. Need to get things fixed as we fly out a week on Friday and whilst i have medical insurance couldn’t get cancellation cover, keep everything crossed for me. Will catch up when feeling better.

Take care all

Lesley

gosh fiona the flu thing is such a worry especially now its really getting close to home… especially with the recent events at the rah.
iv been hearing good things about the gcsf which is the bone marrow stimulating facting… good luck getting fec’ed ;o)

lesley my travel insurance is with a company called ‘get my’ and they cover cancellation as well… might be handy to know for future ref… hope you have a nice time and that your gastro symptoms sort themselves out.

Lesley - sorry you haven’t been too well - will keep fingers crossed fo you that you manage to get your holiday. It will do you so much good to get away for a while.
Fiona - what you must be going through just now is just awful. Glad you had good weekend at Largs. Hope chemo went OK. I got GCSF injections and they were good. Kept white cells up and I didn’t seem so tired.
Annie - hope all goes well on Thursday
Lulu - sorry to hear your struggling just now. Sometimes everything gets too much to cope with and you can feel so alone and no one undersstands. At least all of us here know what’s it’s like - we’ve all had good times and bad times. I was initially diagnosed
almost 12 years ago and I’m still here.
Hope all the rest of you girls are OK
Love to you all
Sheila

Hi Girls

Sorry I haven’t been about for a few days (so another long post - ha!), but I’ve been falling asleep when I’ve been putting the kids to bed. My eldest thought it was great last night as I fell asleep putting his brother to bed and didn’t wake till 9:45 and he was still down stairs watching TV. He’s normally really good and wakes me if Jon’s out, but I think he’s cottoned to the fact that if he doesn’t wake me he gets to watch more TV – wee monkey. I’m not as tired this week, but I’m still in shock at how shattered I was last week.

Annie – Good luck tomorrow, I’ll be thinking of you. Can you PM me your ward details so I can send you a card – what’s your surname too. I hope you’ve managed to get everything sorted so you can have a good rest when you get home. Can you claim for your lap-top on your house insurance – if someone tipped something on it? If anyone else has Annie’s details can they PM me them.

Fiona – OMG I can image how worried you must be right now about swine flu, it’s just a bit too close for comfort. How are you feeling after your chemo? Its just a bit scary moving onto another type isn’t it – I’m not looking forward to moving to CMF next week. I hope you don’t get too many side effects this time.

Lesley – sorry you haven’t been well, you sound like you’ve had a really rough time. Fingers crossed you’ll be able to get away. Are your girls looking forward to their holidays.

Sheila – how are you? Have you been out and about recently?

Linda – sorry you haven’t been feeling too great. Do you have anyone you can talk things through with, sometimes it helps? Are you able to talk to your BCN? I’m really lucky that I have a great Health visitor and if I’m ever feeling really crap and need to talk to someone I give her a call and she comes out. I saw her a lot after I was first diagnosed as I needed to stop breastfeeding quickly, and find she’s easier to talk to than my BCN.

Pauline & Sharon – how are you both? Are you getting mobility back in your arms yet?

Yvonne – how are you feeling? How many chemo’s have you had now?
Well,I hope the weather stays dry tomorrow as we’re off to a breastfeeding support group summer reunion and I’ve promised not to laugh at any new mums who give health reasons and lowering the rate of breast cancer as a reason for breast feeding!

Take it easy girls and look after yourselves.

Hugs

Helen
