Hi There,

I’m cooking nicely!!! Joanne, bet you can’t wait till it’s all over…how many have you had so far? I’m in treatment room I, my appointments vary between 11am and 12noon. I’ve got a spot of physio tomorrow after mine…

Well It looks like my eldest may have swine flu!! we thought it was just a bad cold when he got up this morning mind you he must have felt rough to not want to go to school. By tea time he had temp of 38.6… Bad cough, achey bones and sneezing… Just what I need… Waiting for out of hours doc to phone and NHS24 nurse has given me advice. They don’t test for it now and They won’t actually do anything I don’t think till I develop any symptoms. I might find out a bit more when doc phones. Either way he’s in his room for the next week!!!

Away to rub cream into my really itchy boob…

Take care everyone!!

Hi Girls

How is everyone? I’m doing fine just tired after Tuesdays chemo as I’ve only managed to get about 2 hours sleep the last few nights, but hey, only 2 more to go, so should be finished in 4 weeks time – yippee!.

Well, I think it’s now officially autum weather - Seren’s got her winter tights on today and I think her Summer clothes will all be getting packed away later.

Had a bit of the nightmare on Thursday morning – my rads start half term week so rang up the Beatson on Wednesday and tried to rearrange them to early morning that week, so I’ll have the rest of the day with the kids. I also asked if there was any chance I could bring forward my other appts at 1:30 as I’d be pushing it to get back to pick up from school. Anyway the computer was down so they rang back on Thursday morning and said good-news they’d been able to re-arrange all my appointments to 9:40! – panic! So explained I only wanted the 1st week early and asked if I could get the original appointment times back and she said they’d already been taken as they were so busy, so … I promptly burst into tears, which just wouldn’t stop – first time for a long time! Anyway, they were nice and eventually managed to get me late morning appointments again, but I just couldn’t believe how upset I was, the poor woman must of thought I was a right looney! I picked up another sick note from the doctors yesterday for 4 months, which’ll take me to the New Year – so I can just write this year off and start a fresh in January.

I haven’t been up to much else, apart from having a rant at the estate agent for never answering the phone; our house is on the market at the moment .

Maggie – you look fantastic, I hope you’re feeling OK now.

Fiona & Lulu – I hope your boys are doing OK, what a nightmare. I was asking the Dr today what I’d do if it was at the boys school as it’s at a secondary nearby and she just said she’d give me Tamiflu if either the kids showed any symptoms. Hopefully we can avoid it for the next 8 weeks.

Yvonne – Sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling too good – I hope you’re starting to feel better.

Sheila – I’m glad you got your computer fixed. How’s your wee grand-daughter?

Carol – I hope your cold is better.

Pauline – how are you doing? Your new car sounds great.

Jo – It’s great you’re nearly at the end of your treatment, I’m sure a holiday will do you all good.

Well I hope everyone has a good weekend, I’m just off to check my selling on ebay; I’ve got Seren’s last winter’s clothes on as I’m starting to have a sort out in the hope we’ll be able to sell and move soon – fingers crossed!.

Take care all.

Hi Everyone,

Maggie you look great!! bet you feel liberated now!! Take you a quarter of the time in the shower!! I’m in the Beatson on Tuesday, radiotherapy 11.40am, clinic at 12.45pm and Hopefully herceptin at 3pm… gonna be a long day… Wednesday I’m there for radiotherapy 11.50am.

Helen, 4 weeks to go!! not long now girl!! glad you managed to get the beatson sorted out. I have to go back to work by 19th Oct, if I don’t I loose all my Tax credits as they only allow you 28 weeks off. I can’t live on £100 Employment support allowance so I don’t have any choice… pretty pissed off about the whole thing but there’s not much I can do… Where will you be moving to? are you staying local?

They have cancelled my herceptin on Monday as my results have come in from the muga scan and I have to go and see the oncologist now. So I see him on Tuesday and take it from there…

Doctors have decided that he doesn’t have swine flu!! thank god!! He didn’t develop sickness and diorea which is a main symptom of swine flu. He is still quarantined in his room as it appears to be a real nasty virus and wouldn’t be good if I caught that!! poor soul is quite miserable and coughing his guts up!!

well I’m off to tidy up…It’s a thought!!

Hope everyone else is doing well…

Hugs Fiona xxxx

Hi Fiona
I’m really glad the doctor doesn’t think the boys have swine flu, although what a shame he so rough and is quarantined in his room.

When do you finish your rads? I have my planning appointment on 2nd October so if anyone is there that day it’ll be great to meet up.

What a shame you have to go back to work so soon. I don’t go down to half pay til mid October, so I’ve been really. My CI policy also paid out which was great, that’s why we’re moving house. Just staying local, but moving to a 4 bed.
Have a good weekend.

Helen

well thats the house gutted, hubby took a maddy today and has cleaned everywhere, magic, I just cant do it the way I used to, think he now realizes that.

looking forward to a night out with friends tonight, they are coming over for a chinese then the local pub to see a guy called Savage, he is brilliant, so camp but some singer, I havent seen him for months so looking forward to it, as long as I last the pace!!!

weather doing my head in, heating back on as house is freezing.

Fiona, glad to hear your boy doesnt have swine flu, are you ready to go back to work yet?

Helen, glad your ci policy paid out, mine did too but didnt put it all to the mortgage, I bought wee Freddy Fiesta, why not, we only moved to this house two years ago and all going well will be back at work in January.

Maggie, Sheila, Pauline, Annie, Yvonne and anyone else enjoy rest of the weekend.

Hi All

Just thougtht I’d share a really sweet momment with you all …

I was getting changed last night when I caught sight of my lob-sided boobs in the mirror, so I sat on the bed and stared at them for a few minutes, asessing the difference between them. My 4 yr old who was getting his PJ’s on too, then appeared and started telling me a story when he caught sight of my scare and he suddenly stopped and really gently cupped my boob in his hands and gave it a big kiss, then gave me a big hug and said ‘I love you Mummy’. How sweet is that!
I’m sure he’s definately going to be a boob man as he gets older!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend - lets hope for some nicer weather today.

Hugs

Hi Helen, Well it certainly brought a tear to my eyes. What a sweety he sounds. Reminded me of a story I only found out years after it happened. My daughter now 34 used to go into the coat cupboard when I was at work at night and wrap herself in my coat which was hanging up on a peg so that she could smell mummy…Ever since she tells me when she smells Rive Gauche perfume she remembers the feeling and the memory of it. I never knew at the time only years later. Love following your posts girls though strickly not in the Glasgow area as I am in Edinburgh. But have lived all over the central belt and as far West as Gourock so feel a part of this thread too. Love to all, Val ( Scottishlass)

Hi All,

Aw Helen that was really sweet!! It’s nice when they do things like that…Aidan is a bit like that too, all caring and sweet. Would be good to step in their shoes just for 1 day, just to see how they all feel about what’s happened to us. I was devastated when it was my Mum… she was a big lady, gentle and cuddly and old enough to be my grandmother and I just remember burying my head in her lap and crying for what seemed like forever…I was 28 but felt like an 8 year old. The worst thing I’ve ever had to do was to tell my kids I had cancer, and I now know how my Mum felt that day… when I had Aidan’s head burried in my lap.

There’s a gorgeous wee 2 year old boy who comes in for radiotherapy every day, all smiles and chatter!!. They have to knock him out so as to keep him still, he gets rushed out afterwards on a trolley with monitors beeping… There’s not very many female dry eyes in the waiting room by the time he leaves, very difficult for all of us trying not to cry what with having no nose hairs and eyelashes!! God it’s hard sometimes…

Lots of love

Fiona, hope you get on ok with the oncologist this week.

Helen, your wee boy cheered me up today, bless him, the joys of boys

Maggie
PS thanks for the compliments on my photo.
Must post a pic with me and my new wiggie. LOL !!!

Hi Maggie,

I’ve got rads at 11.20. Onc at 12.45. Might just be ships that pass in the Beatson!! Will look out for you anyway, clinics never run on time!! I had to wait 2hrs to get rads today because I never got put on the pile when I went in!! Was a bit frazzled by the time I got out. Got a long day on tomorrow, hopefully herceptin at 3pm if it gets ordered up and taken to chemo suite on time. I’ll be sitting in the cafe for a while I think.

Helen, I finish rads on 25th. But hopefully I’ll be getting my herceptin every three weeks on a Monday so I can meet up with you then?

Well off to make tea. Hope everyone is well

hugs
