What a beautiful day it is - Seren is in a summer dress that I nearly packed away. I think I’ll slap on the factor 50 and sit out for a while.
Annie - What an awful time you’ve been having, but its great to have you back.
Angela - How are you doing? how are you coping back at work? How long did you leave it after your rads before you went back. I’m planning to have about 5 weeks off to recover, get christmas over and start a fresh in the new year.
Hope everyone else is OK and enjoying this lovely weather.
Annie, good to hear from you… Taxotere is hard work and has loads of side effects but as hard as it is, it’s do-able… The hard thing with you is that you’ve already had a load of treatment as well as surgery before Tax so it’s doubley hard on your body… so take it nice and easy and it’ll soon be all over…
Helen, hope you enjoy the sun, I’ve packed all my parasols in the shed!! can’t be bothered to dig them out and it’s a bit hot not to be under one!! if I bring them out it’s sure to rain!!
Angela, good to see your still checking in on us now and again, hope things are returning to normality for you now…
Carol, Good luck for Monday… everything will be fine, by the second week they treat you as an “old Hat!!” Only annoying thing is that my appointment is 11.50am and they’ve been running an hour late due to the computer. 1.10pm I got out on Friday… Here’s hoping next week will be better…x
Pauline, Good luck for Monday, sending good vibes and positive cyber hugs!!
well Girls, Dad has arrived from Ayr!! peace shattered…he’s the victor Meldrew of the family so there’s lots of noise and loud “I don’t belive it’s”…oh well…maybe a wee glass of wine later will soothe my soul!!
Lots of love and Hugs and hope you all have a lovely weekend
Thanks Fiona, just be glad to get it started, a wee bit anxious but ok, another step in the right direction, sorry to hear about your appointments running late.
If its nice tomorrow again, think we are going to go to Largs for the day.
Thanks for all the well wishes. I went back to work about 5/6 weeks after finishing rads and started 1 day a week for the first week, 2 days a week for the second week and then did about a month of 3 days and a month of 4 days. Im back up to the 5 days and im doing 10 till 4. I fel as though Im coping well, I do get tired every so often, but overall, im doing good.
I still ahve to wait for a reconstruction, so I will be back in hospital at some point, but I dont know when!!
I hope everyone is keeping well and that the treatment isnt too bad.
Hi Woolark, Sorry you had a s***y day yesterday. Nothing worse than “heid doon the pan”. I am usually sitting on it for hours as have IBS!! So am just here to wish you a better day tomorrow. I have lived in the east and in the west so hope you don’t mind a message from an eastcoaster. I was over at Gourock visiting my brother-in-law in the week. Am very fond of that area as was living there when I met my hubby way back in 1967! But that’s a different story. Hope you feel better when you read this in the morning, love Val (Scottishlass)
Hey everyone…Helen, it all went well with the self injection, feeling good. Scottishlass, you are welcome to be here you are Scottish afterall…we have to stick together LOL xxx
Just a quickie tonight…hope you are all feeling good
Well done, for giving yourself your injection. Remember to get a good pinch of skin and pull it tight. If it hurts as I jab it in I now pull it out and try again, but I think it helps that I’ve had three sections and have very little sensation in the low part of my stomach!
I have a slight upset stomach whilst I’m having them and then on day 6 I get cronic back ache and my hip joints are really sore - so be warned! I’m sure you’ll be fine.
Hi Val, welcome to our thread, all the girls here are all great and we’re all give each loads of support.
Carol - I think chemo brain is kicking in! - are you start your rads tomorrow? I hope everything goes well. I start mine on the 12th Oct for 6 weeks, when do you finish yours? Hope you had a good time in Largs.
Fiona - How are the boys after your swine flu scare? I hope your rads go OK tomorrow too and you don’t have another long wait.
Sheila, Annie, Angela, Yvonne - I hope you’ve all had a good weekend and have managed to get out and enjoy this good weather.
What is parking like at the beatson?
My wee boy starts school full time tomorrow - will be totally lost without him.
well thats it, first radiotherapy done and dusted and back home already!!! the joys of patient transport, dont think ill be that lucky every day, it was actually ok, quick and painless.
one down 18 to go!!!
remember the breast cancer documentary is on tonight, look out for my sister in law Lorraine who is one of the nurses in it.
hope you are all good, Pauline thinking of you today x
What time and what chanel is the documentary on tonight Carol?
hope you are feeling fine today xx
Helen, shame you will be missing your wee boy, but he will have lots to tell you when he gets home, the parking at the Beatson can be a wee bit tricky, Ive been lucky up to now, I just go round and round until someone moves…it is a busy car park.
Feeling very much like sh*t today…all my bones are achy, my gums are sore (actually feels more like my jaw than my gums) it’s hard to swallow and a nasty niggly headache. The district nurse is coming at 4.30pm…Im gonna let her know how Im feeling. Hope she can recommend a little pick-me-up !
Hope you are all ok.Maggie, hope you are feeling a bit better too.
Well got good news.Saw scan and neuro surgeon this afternoon and advised me that the scan had picked up an incidental finding and was congenital. No follow up appointment either!!!
So we are delighted with the news…tucking into a nice shiraz at the mo.
Going to be watching hartson doc tonight followed by my new breast.Hence the reason why I am making inroads into the shiraz just now.
TAKE CARE ALL AND THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT.

I’m so glad you had good news today - I’m so pleased and relieved for you. Enjoy your wine!
Maggie - I found the SE’s from the G-CSF injections were actually worse than the side effects of the chemo the first time I had them, but it has improved.
Carol - I’m glad your rads went OK today. I’m starting mine 4 weeks today.
Good news Pauline!!! was just on your farm visiting and was about to say Hi and you disappeared!! (Facebook) to all those not in the know!! So pleased to hear you are tucking into the shiraz, that’ll be why your ploughing is all squinty!! Ha Ha… get it down ya girl!!
Well Just to let everyone know that Andreana in st Enochs square is no longer trading… By chance I noticed that Sharon Francis who does the scarf tying sessions at the Maggie’s centre has just opened a hair loss management shop in Paisley. I have been in touch with her and she is supplying wigs as well, I’m off to see her on Tuesday next week so will keep you posted.
Radiotherapy going well but getting held up with a couple of patients needing extended rads who are just in before me but it should get better in a day or so… these things can’t be helped.
Just thought I’d say thank you Carol for letting me know about the programme tonight,… overwhelming, tearful, shocking, inspirational, but in the main…fantastic…we are lucky to have such geniusus looking after us…thanks again.
Hope (really hope) you are all comfortable tonight.
Hi Maggie
Just a quick note - I forgot to say if you are in a lot of pain and your temp is fine take paracetamol for the pain, not ibrufin. The Oncology pharmasist said we should avoid ibrufin when having chemo.
Take Care All
Helen
Just getting ready to go to Rads, boob a bit hot and “nippy”, nipple feels “chewed”!!! jut like the early days of breast feeding!! but apart from that skin holding up ok and the cream seems to be really helping. probably too much information just before lunch, but ahhh what the heck!!
well another lovely day. Hope you get out for your drive Maggie, the fresh air will certainally do you good just don’t over do it!!
Pauline, hope you’re not suffering to much after the shiraz!! what are you getting up to today?
I really enjoyed last night’s documentary, very well made… the boys came waltzing into living room only to make a very quick exit, banging into door frame on way out!! way too much surgery for them!! I had my fun when shouting about seeing Tatoo’s…HaHaHa when they saw it was a nipple, HAHAHAHA, oooooh I’m nasty!!
Ok I’d better go… got to stake out a parking space!!! I’ve got my gun!!!
Fiona …you are soo funny…those poor boys of yours.Have to admit found it a bit gory myself…and I am the girl who loved all that blood and gore from an early age.Think I was thinking about it was me be on the table. Are you really getting the tatooing done?
It was Dr Maylon who done my surgery…will be seeing him on thursday this week. Its just to see if I can get my water balloons further inflated post rads.I will also get his autograph…he is a very clever chap.
Hope everyone is doing ok.Get out if you can for some sunshine.
LOVE
