Hi there,

Its all ok, it was my rib! How much of a twit do I feel! Doctor is fantastic, had a great big talk with me. Asked me if I was weepy and right on cue the tears came flooding out! Gave me some tablets for hot flushes, Clonidine and wants to see me in two weeks. I’m a bit worried about taking drugs that haven’t been okayed by Onc. Not allowed to have alcohol with them, not really a drinker but cos I can’t have one, I want one!

Thank you girls for your concern. It means alot as I don’t really share with anyone else apart from hubby.

Lulu - We hopefully will be getting our house at Dreghorn. Have lived at Dreghorn twice over the years and I really like it too. Will miss Paisley though.

Sarah XXX

Sarah, so glad too hear everything ok, was just checking thro thread and got worried until i saw your reply.
It’s fine to be thinking you’ve been silly we’ve all done it at some point, I’m still worrying about every lump and bump, it’s only natural.

P.S sis you get signed up for Forum?? It’s a night away in hotel in Cumbernauld.

Hugs Sharon xxxx

Sharon, can’t do that weekend! Got ma big sis coming. Maybe I can make the next one. So relieved about bumpy bit! I’m so lucky to have such a great doctor. Having a glass of wine to calm my nerves!

Hope you are feeling ok. X

Hi Sarah,

So glad to hear the lump is nothing bad…I know how things like this gives us the jitters!! I Have my first mammo on Wed, not looking forward to it, my boob is still really sore…I think my eyes will be watering!!

Helen, have you had your first mammo yet?

Sharon, Good luck for CT on Monday…all my bits and pieces will be crossed!!

Lulu, have you heard anything about Hannah’s appointment yet? hope you are all holding up well?

Sheila, sorry to hear Taxotere is all finished…your poor body must be well and truly fed up with the stuff now…it would be lovely to have a break again for a wee while to let you recover…we’ll need to get another luch organised soon.

Big Hugs to everyone else, hope you’re all having a nice weekend.

Hi All

Sarah - glad everything is OK.

Fiona - I don’t get my mamogram till april - 1yr 6 weeks after 1st surgery. I have to admit my boob is quite sore at the momment too, but I think it’s just the muscles pulling as I start to do more things.

I’m really suffering today - I was at a neighbours with friends last night having a takeaway and a few glasses of wine. I was soooooo ill when I got home - I’m such a lightweight, I think 1 glass of wine is my limit now!!!

Off to get another paracetamol - lol!!

Helxx

Hi girls

Sarah - sorry you can’t make young woman’s forum, they are supposed to have one every year but they never had one last year. Good that your scare cleared up.

Helen - I was at a friends Sat night for dinner party, good food, good wine and such a good laugh, haven’t laughed so much in ages, too much wine drunk but as I’m on chemo I don’t get the hangover!!

Sat my Sky plus boxed crashed!!! I phoned up and they can’t get an engineer out for 2 weeks as I stay in a flat, they need a specialist team, just give me a new box for godsake!!! So that’s me got no T.V and have lost all my good programmes I’ve been recording!!!
To say I’m raging is doesn’t came anywhere close to it!!
Worse thing is I have been on to complain but still nothing can be done as they cannot speak to a human, it’s all done through a computer. I even went onto Virgin to see how quick they would come out, again 2 weeks, I phones Sky back and said I had been speaking to Virgin, still nothing can be done, I am now putting pen to paper, ‘all complaints must be put in writing’, is it me or has the world gone mad, maybe I’m not doing it right!!
I did tell them I was getting treatment for cancer and couldn’t get out the house, now stuck with no T.V, they said they still couldn’t do anything!!! I do have freeview in my room thank god but I wasn’t telling them that.

Moan over!!

Got CT Scan this morning so hopefully results will be ready thurs when I see ONC, they just had to do it without the contrast as they wanted to put needles in arms and NOT use hickman, NO NEEDLES for me!!! I don’t want lymphodema thank you. Results wont be a clear tho.

Carol- hows Ozzy, how did neck go/get results???

Hope you all had good weekend

Sharon xxxx

Sharon, so know where you are coming from with having no Sky, at least you have your freeview box, fingers and toes crossed for you cat scan results

Got results from my neck lump, its and enlarged lymph node which I had already been told and they will check it again in 6 months!!! so no further forward, Ozzy is as mad as a hatter, he done his first wee outside today, I was like a proud mummy

Having a meeting with my boss to discuss my return to work, not looking forward to that one

well the weather is defo on the up and it makes you feel better, so hope everyone has a lovely week

love

Hi All

I have posted this on behalf of new user Margaret:

Sharon, I’m from East Kilbride, Whitehills. I am a bit older than you 64 though I don’t feel it. This is my third bout of b.c. I first had it 6 years ago in my left breast and had chemo and radium and a lumpectomy then Nov. 2008 I took it in my right breast, different type had another lumpectomy and radium now I have had it a third time back in the left breast and have had my breast off and start Chemo this Thursday 4th March but I have got to trail to the Beatson for it this time, last time I got it at Wishaw. Only have to get four treatments so here’s hoping that by May all will be over. I also go to Tak Tent in the Red Deer Centre 2nd Friday of the Month where I get teriffic support from all different kinds of people.

Margaret

Hi Carol

Well done ozzy for peeing outside!!
Before you see your boss, have a clear idea how you want them to handle your phased return to work – take it slowly. The occupational therapist said my return should be phased over 2 weeks!! Even though I told her I still got very tired and thought 2 weeks was way too short. But fortunately my boss agreed with HR that this was too short a period, so my phased return was over 4 weeks; 1 day wk 1, 2 days week 2, 2+1 day week 3, and 4 days week 4 – although I think week 4 should have been 3 days together, before moving to 4 days. After the 4 weeks my boss said he could see I was still struggling some days so we have an unofficial agreement at the moment that I can leave a bit earlier if I’m struggling. My concentration and staying power are improving, but I do have days when I get really tired and spend all afternoon yawning!!. I spoke to the doctor about this last week and she said she would have recommended that I started back working half days and gradually built up on this. I’m still conscious that my work isn’t back to the standard it was previous and it does take me longer to do things, but I’ve been honest with everyone and have told them I’m still suffering from chemo brain!!
I am enjoying being back to work as it really does feel like my life is moving forward. It’s weird I was off for 21months (mat leave & sick leave combined), yet it doesn’t feel like I’ve been off now!

Good Luck

Helen

sarah im so pleased to read your post… and dont think of yourself as silly… its completely natural after everything you have been through to worry about any pains you have… and each time waiting for appts and results your back to that scary no-man’s land of ‘what if?’.

when you move through to edinburgh you can join us east coasters on our regular meets too… although i think there are still some plans to have a super-meet in edinburgh. the girls going to the YWF can maybe make some provisional arrangements when we get together.

Fi no news about hannahs appointment, although they mentioned the 17th or 19th as provisional dates. im googling like mad trying to find information… there isnt much on paget’s disease or other nipple disorders for that matter, however she’s started having some problems in the other breast which is kind of reassuring that its not cancer as its very rare to get bilateral paget’s so fingers crossed its eczema or something like that.

carol good luck starting back to work, i probably wont be long behind you as im thinking of going back in about a months time… not looking forward to all the travelling back and forth to the sandyford, but i love my job so that will no doubt make it easier…

glad your enjoying being back helen, but the issues you mention are the things that worry me… like getting too tired and knowing its a 2 hour commute home, or losing concentration or forgetting things i know and also problems with manual dexterity due to joint pains which may make doing bloods, smears, implanons, jags, etc all a bit more difficult… think ill def try for a longer more drawn out phased return now that we can carry upto 28 days of holidays over too can hopefully mean my phased return can stay phased for quite a while.

but hopefully something that suits will come up in edinburgh soon and i can get a job back through here.

welcome to margaret and Hi to everybody else hope your all doing ok.

Hi Everybody and Welcome Margaret,

Hi Guys

Hiya Margaret - welcome to this great site, it is the best self help thing about.

Good luck with your mammo Fee. My boob is now as hard as a rock and hot to the touch, and thanks to all of you for the forewarning about the stabbing pains… Quite scary till you know that it is totally normal!

Best of luck Sharon. I had no idea you had mets, but you are one touch girlie and you know you are in the best of hands.

Hospital 3 times last week and between that and the PDSA (who are amazing) seems to have been my life of late, it’s taken it’s toll on me, I’m so tired and the steroids have affected the thigh muscles, so stairs are almost impossible. It is so embarressing struggling even to get on a bus.

Carol, good luck going back to work, you must have mixed feelings? So glad Ozzy has settled in so well, puppies are great therapy. Took Whisper for follow up following his op - vet is very pleased but the poor guy is wanting to be upstairs most of the time. Still, early days, but I would love to have my lovely big sap back.

The weather has been great, my garden needs SOOOOO much attention as I couldn’t tend to it last year and the hard frost has killed off just about all of my well established plants. I guess we all have have such a lot to catch up on. House needs work done too. Need to get my strength back bigtime!

Enjoy this lovely weather classy lassies.
