Hello everyone
Just back today from Cyprus to hailstones in Westhill and believe I missed the snow last week.
Had a good break but forgot how tiring the airport queues can be. Had 2 hours in line as baggage belts had broken down.
Elaine- it was good to bump into you in Sainsbury’s and hope your energy levels begin to pick up soon.
Ann- glad you are sounding a bit more settled and pleased to hear Amy has made it to Paris and Nicz hopefully to Aviemore.
Hope everyone else is doing OK and managed to enjoy some Easter celebrations.
I had my meeting with onc on Friday re herceptin. My first one is 2nd July.
Welcome back Car, You missing the sun? :o)
Good to hear you enjoyed your break Nic.
Well, my veins are just not playing ball at all. At appt on friday it was recommended I have a PICC line inserted. Just waiting for appt. Chemo number 4 tomorrow - yuk.
Anne let me know how you get on with the PICC line. This is someting I’m debating. I had a brief stay in hospital last monday night with a high temp and after the carry on to get bloods and a cannula in I was thinking there has to be an easier way (7 needles in total is too much even for me!).
We will need to get another lunch/catch up organised soon. Will be nice to meet Nic and Alanaa.
Hope everyone is getting on fine and good luck to those about to start radio. xx
Sending good wishes to Alanaa for Thursday. The Radiographers are so nice and you will soon get to know them. I used to sing a song (Raindrops keep falling on my head) that fitted with the time of the blips on the machine and it helped the time to pass as they were zapping me. Daft I know but if it works - who cares! I found the aqueous cream they advise really helped the skin so slap it on. Its brilliant for keeping your feet soft too.
Sorry to hear you were in hospital Amy - you and Ann are having a hard time with those bloods - you will get there! Hope you are better now.
Glad Nicz was able to enjoy Landmark - it is always a good day out and I love the smell of the pine forests up there.
Hope you are managing to keep smiling Georgie- these waiting weeks are a sair fecht- if you understand my Doric!
Back to work yesterday was not so good with hundreds of accumulated e mails to deal with. Having a hard job adjusting to the cold and the early mornings too so treating myself to early nights curled up in bed with my book by 8pm - exciting! I am looking forward to some warmer evenings to get into the garden.
Take care all

thanks for your good wishes for tomorrow. I am just wondering if anybody has been told what to use and not to use at their planning appointment as I was not given any information about soap, cream etc at all. I know not to use deodorant on my left side but that is about it.
Hope you are all feeling as fine as can be and that your respective veins, bloods and treatments are working out just fine.
Elaine I will be at the hospital at the 30th for my rads so let me know what time you are around and we could have a coffee and chat if you have the time.
Alanaa, Car is right use as much aqueous cream as you can slap on. I have really fair skin so looked like i had been in the sun way too long and started to blister and peel. I wouldn’t use anything perfumed as it might irritate your skin.
Had second rads session yesterday and got the weekend off. The ladies are all just lovely there and so helpful and make you feel as relaxed as you can be.
Slapping on the cream and hope that my skin will hold out. I am also fair skinned and have to be very careful in the sunshine.
My oldest girl is home until the end of next week so we are travelling in and out for the treatment but by the looks of it I am staying at Clan House the following week as she has to go back to Glasgow and get packing. She has been offered a position at their London office and has accepted it. She has only to finish her final draft for the PhD and that can be done via London.
Raining again this morning so looks like a cosy weekend in for the two of us (sorry 3 if you count the cat).
Elaine let me know what time your planning session is on the 30th as I will be around.
What a horrid wet day once again. Have been on my travels to Aberdeen for my 3rd rads session today. Will be travelling in and out this week f(app all between 10.40 and 11.10 this week) as my oldest girl is home until Friday. From Monday to Friday next week I am staying at Clan House so if anybody is around and fancies a coffee/chat etc just let me know and I pm you my mobile number if you like.
Hope you all had a pleasant weekend without to much side effects to cope with.
Good to hear from Ann and glad you are hanging in there!
If Alanaa is staying at Clan House next week we could maybe meet up once she knows time of radio appointments. Georgie will be on to her planning by then too- will be good to get it started. Let us know if you are up to it and what best timing would be even just for a coffee and chat at Clan if folk are tiring and can’t face going out.

will be lovely meeting you (and anybody else who fancies a coffee and a good old natter) next week at some point. I don’t know anybody in Aberdeen so will be rather nice to have a bit of a chat. Have already put a heap of books to one side I am taking with me and am going to pop round to Clan tomorrow after rads to see the place and to find out if they have internet access.
My main concern has been my cat but my lovely neighbour is going to take care of her once more for me.
Alanaa, would be lovely to meet you too. I can make any day except the Monday. The clan house is a superb place, you will be very comfortable there. Pity cat couldn’t join you too :o)
Let’s hope some of the other ladies can manage too! Xx
Alanaa my rads planning appointment is at 2.00pm on Monday the 30th. Can be there anytime before or after and also any other day that week.
Needles and cannulas seem to be the bain of our lives and I am so sick of them and think I am developing a phobia about them. At my MUGA scan last week when they tried to insert the dye via a needle I passed out with the pain and was whisked out on a trolley with my feet in the air. God knows what those waiting to be seen must have thought. It hadn’t been a pretty sight thats for sure.
Well thats my moan over and hope everyone is doing okay.
Elaine great to hear from you. My app is at 10.30 so maybe we could have coffee/lunch at the hospital. If that is suitable for you. I am staying at clan house next week so have plenty of time. Looking forward to a good catch up will pm you my mob number.
Good to hear from you Elaine and sorry you ladies are having such a hard time with these bloods and needles! Sounds very unpleasant and you deserve medals for putting up with it!
A wee bit of sunshine would not go amiss just now- it would make us all feel a bit better- these cold damp days don’t help.
Hope the radio is progressing OK Alanaa although the rain can’t be helping your long journeys.
Haven’t heard from Nicz for a while- hope you are doing OK!
My central heating has broken down so I am really feeling the cold.
My son sent me an umbrella from Museum of Modern art in New York last year when I was going through all the treatments. It is black on the outside but has blue skies and little while puffy clouds on the inside. Great for lifting the spirits.
Take care all and hope to have coffee with Alanaa next week sometime.

Just to say I’m meeting Alanaa at ARI on Monday at 11.00am if anyone else is free to join us. I’m also free the rest of the week for any meet up at Clan.
