Thanks @gromit12 for the advice! I’ve just spoken to the nurse she’s told me to carry on taking the metoclopramide and up my laxido. Managed my first little. since Weds ! I’m sure that’s not helping things either. Next time I’m going to start the Laxido the day before and have 3 a day. I hope everything’s goes well with your next session x
I had my 1st cycle same day as yourself. I’ve had a fuzzy head since which has started to clear abit today however the past 2 nights my stomach has had major bloat (been for a the past 2 days so its probably not cause of that) I had to get my hand checked out yesterday as it started to become swollen near the cannula site, bloods taken & showed no raised infection markers & showed white cells are starting to do their thing. Got sent home & told to monitor it & if things change etc call the number again. Taste buds are shattered & can’t taste anything, which is better than the metallic taste I did have, however the watery mouth I had at the beginning is now gone. Feeling abit more sleepy today but could be due to sleep pattern changing & only getting a few hours sleep then feeling like am wired to the moon again. Only 2 more days left off the injections so not sure if this is all combined or not its a feet up watch tv kinda day for me xx
Just back from drs and I have a UTI, chemo has been deferred until 1st May. I can’t believe I’ve another infection. I told my GP I’m worried that chemo deferred now 2 weeks in a row but he’s reassured me this can happen. To all you experiencing indigestion and heartburn I take an omprezole everyday and had been taking gaviscon. My fuzzy head only started clearing last week. My chemo is every 3 weeks cycles of AC
Hi @pollyanna1 sorry to hear you’ve had to delay your next around again I can imagine how fed up you feel about it. However you don’t want to get really poorly so I’m sure before you know it you will be back in having your next round. Thanks for all the tips, omezeparole is definitely helping. Big hugs H x
@ivegotthis01 i hope your hand is starting to feel better and you managed to watch some good TV😘
How did you get on with the hair net? Keen to get anything to stay cool in the summer
To be honest I took it out of the package and haven’t tried it on yet! I will let you know later. Typical tried to go to bed early about 930 and now been awake since 2.45 urgh! Chat later H x
Omg ladies, what a night I’ve just put in. So hand is still the same & am not concerned about it, however the toilet issues its went from 1 extreme to the next. If this is chemo belly I really will struggle as been to the loo literally every few hours last night. Think am potentially loosing my nose hairs & now have a salty taste in my mouth everytime I breathe in, going to be another easy day & will try get fluids in me. My friend has recommended watching baby reindeer? Anyone watched it yet ? How’s everyone today ? xx
That sounds awful @ivegotthis01 - the stomach / gut issues are a real challenge! Hope it starts to settle down soon for you Ive not watched Baby Reindeer, I’ve heard it’s quite a difficult watch and I’m far too emotional and pathetic to deal with anything remotely challenging right now. It’s supposed to be very good though x
Sorry to hear about your nighttime. I’m also having a rubbish day (don’t know if that helps others to know or not!!), not managed to get out of bed yet. Day 6 for me and remember it was a particularly bad day last round too. Tiredness, shaking, mouth issues, anxiety, and PICC soreness and weeping. I’ve had some pooping issues too. For goodness sake this really is a roller-coaster I’d like to get off. I need to have a stern talking to myself regularly about why we are putting ourselves through this. It’s hard to remember that just 3 weeks ago I felt totally healthy (ignoring the nasty lump).
Love to all, take it one day at a time and gradually (glacially!) getting through it!
Oh and I started shedding yesterday and hair is looking all hanging and loose today don’t dare touch it.
Bettysmum have you advised your team you have a uti? You must isn’t you haven’t already it’ll probably need antibiotics Shi xx
Please just check with your team to ensure it’s not an infection Shi xx
@isthisreal sorry you are feeling so pants. Be kind to yourself and just get through the day. Round 2 for me tomorrow - slightly more idea of what to take with me at least!!
@ivegotthis01 sorry you’re having such a pants time. Trying to get happy balance with guts is such a challenge isn’t it? Just make sure you stay hydrated. My taste has changed as to what I want to drink. Cannot bear coffee currently. My nose hairs seem to have gone too - coat the outside of nostrils with vaseline to act as filter
Hang in there xx
Hi yes thanks have got antibiotics - and team are fully aware thanks
Hi Everyone,
Hope its okay to join this thread… i was expecting at least another fortnight to get my brain around this but I took the call today today to say they’d had a cancellation and i’m starting chemo on Friday.
I only had my consent yesterday so to say I’m feeling overwhelmed would be a massive understatement. I haven’t even had all the scans etc but i’m up at the hospital tomorrow for bloods and echo so i assume they’ll try and force me into the MRI machine tube of doom as well
I’m having Docetaxel/Carbo with Phesgo - 6x21 day cycles… I’m not thrilled about the Docetaxel as I’ve heard less than nice things about it, but I suppose everyone is different and I’m really trying hard to take this all a day at a time. I’m just in an absolute state of shock and disbelief.
I’d also wanted a PICC line before this started as I’m difficult to cannulate so the speed at which this is happening means I can’t have this done first so that’s also adding to my panic.
I don’t know why I’m writing. I just really don’t want to do this on my own
@tsoph welcome to the gang! We’re a friendly supportive group. I’m having cycle 2 tomorrow but I’m having EC. Docextal for cycles 4-6. I had my PICC line in the morning of the first chemo. I suppose at least you don’t have long to anticipate, and I felt better once I knew what was happening. Don’t anticipate the rough stuff, we are all different and deal with things in a day to day basis xx
Welcome @tsoph to our little group. It is such a shock to find ourselves here I know, and I’m sorry you’re in this situation, but this is a great group to rant and also get info and support. Mine started quickly too but I don’t think you can ever be prepared and wonderful to start hitting this blasted lump. I’m on EC but will be moving to Docetaxel-Phesgo for round 4 onwards.
Welcome @tsoph - like you I started chemo super quick, saw the oncologist on Thursday and was told the following Monday I was starting chemo the next day! Looking back it was probably a good thing as I didn’t have time to worry about it and the sooner you start the sooner you finish. This group is really supportive and has helped me so much, it’s good to have you joining us x
@tsoph, you’re welcome to our April Gang (none of us wanted to be here either but I’ve got so much from these lovely people already) I hope all goes well with your chemo, try to be prepared and plan but also be ready to take things as they come along. There have been many curve balls and we need to roll with them (is that even possible? I’m not exactly the sporty type! ) Take care and all the best x
