I seem to get changes to my taste and a dry mouth, and some days my appetite is normal, but others I canā€™t face food. Iā€™ve been eating things like soup, ā€˜softā€™ ready meals, casseroles, eggs, soft fruit, plus itā€™s worth having some things that might help with nausea: anything with ginger in it, sweets, herbal tea.
Also if any neighbours or family offer to make you anything, accept it - itā€™s so nice to have a fresh home-cooked meal.

Yes Iā€™ve not been able to face tea or coffee since this all started either and usually I survive on it!

Hi @tsoph welcome! Hope that you are doing ok! This is an amazing group of ladies and weā€™re all here to help support each other, ask questions and generally talk with peeps that get it.

Iā€™ve been told Iā€™m really bad at allowing people to help so reaching out and talking is difficult for me but this forum has been a lifeline.

Sending hugs!

I read (somewhere) that pineapple can help with funny tastebuds. I have been buying Tesco pineapple ice lollies as itā€™s nice and cool after a chemo session(with hot flushes and beetroot face) and it helps me a bit. In case that helps anyone x

@tsoph welcome to the group, Iā€™ve found it very helpful and reassuring as lot of us has experienced similar side effects and you know yore not alone. Iā€™ve mostly ate soft foods. I found mouth was sore first 2 weeks. I ate pancakes, soup, pot noodles, scrambled eggs. One tip I can give is make sure you take anti sickness meds for as long as you need them.
@gromit12 good luck today and praying all goes well for you x
@hc1973 the day before my hair started to come out I had a tingly feeling over my head and hair started to feel coarse.
@altoan thanks for the link hope your feeling better.
Hope everyone else is feeling ok. Just to let you know Iā€™m now 8 days past when my second chemotherapy was due and tastebuds, appetite feels so much better, this is reminding that when chemotherapy finishes hopefully most things returns to normal for us all. Xxx

Good Luck @bettysmum H x

Iā€™ve just had my first docetaxel and phesgo last week and Iā€™ve got multiple different forms of frozen and instant potatoes that Iā€™ve been living off for the last weekā€¦ :joy: Frozen stuff is great because you never know what youā€™ll be craving at any given time and itā€™s really easy just to whack it in the oven and top with whatever toppings take your fancy. Also, make sure to get some imodium and some electrolytes because youā€™ll probably get diarrhoea. I thought I had escaped from that particular side effect but was up all last nightā€¦ :joy:

Thanks @kartoffel - Iā€™m so anxious about the switch from EC to Docataxel! Iā€™ll make sure Iā€™m prepared for the diarrhoea :flushed:

@ivy-cat I was pretty anxious as well, but the only real difference for me so far has been the switch from constipation to diarrhoea :joy: The first couple of days after my infusion, I thought I was constipated and took a few laxidos which now Iā€™m kinda regrettingā€¦

Hope today goes well, I nearly gave up on cold cap last week as 20mins towards the end it was getting too much. Am going to try a head band (if I can) next week just to try & help with the cold on my forehead. Am with you regarding the drinks as I know have shares in ribena, its really the only thing I can drink at the moment & am also eating what I fancy - hubby bulk bought angel delights for me last night as I said ā€œI fancied 1ā€ currently 10 in the kitchen cupboard now :face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth:, but at least heā€™s listening :grinning::grinning: xx

I feel you, I had that the night before, but today I feel like a new woman :raised_hands::raised_hands: well Iā€™ve slept & so far stomach definitely not as bad, it was 1 week today that I had my 1st session off EC, keeping a diary so I can look back on the better days x

Hiya, I am sure you will be fine. The less time you have to think about it, the less time you will worry about uncertainty. The positive is, it will be over quicker, so you can move forward. It is all overwhelming. The way I dealt with it all, was to only read about the current treatment I was having and not to dwell on google. Remember, everyone reacts different to the drugs and your teams are all there to help you. We are all here for you too.

@ivegotthis01 thanks. I do feel a bit rough alas. Went to bed when I got in and dozed for a bit. Have just taken another metoclopramide and tried a bit of chicken and pasta. So hoping nausea will settle xx

@tsoph thank you- tucked up in bed yes, but so much for metoclopramide :nauseated_face:still feel nauseous. Did manage a bit of supper and a yoghurt, but Iā€™m now struggling to get fluid in me. Have a headache too. Just need to sleep and tomorrow will be another day. Other halves do get the brunt - but hey ho Iā€™m sure heā€™s got broad shoulders!!!
