April 2024 chemo starters

@ivegotthis01 @isthisreal how you both feeling today, hope you managed some sleep, I slept ok was just up lots in the night for the toilet, think it’s all the water in trying to drink to flush it through, woke up with what feels like a hangover this morning :face_with_head_bandage:, not too bad though, going to really try and take it easy , my sister had my daughter sleep at hers last night and is taking charge of her dance classes today so she won’t be home till lunch time so hoping I’ve picked up a bit by then :crossed_fingers::heart:

@isthisreal morning ladies, again similar night with the toilet vists as yourselves, however (too early for this chat, but am still sharing :face_with_peeking_eye::face_with_peeking_eye:) these new :poop: tablets are really helping me (dioctyl) compared to laxido, I’ve went yesterday & again this morning & there is no lava ass situation as yet :partying_face: I take 2 at night about 10sh, but have been told take for 3 days & see how I am. Heartburn & indigestion not as bad with the omeprazole tablets either & mouthwash helping as well.
Head not as fuzzy yet today, but the horrid taste in mouth is here & can feel the start off metallic taste again, just having morning meds & will then get Alfie out for a wee walk in the rain. My son will be 24 next month & he’s away to work so thankfully I dont have the classes etc to take him too (you lot are amazing who do this) & hubby works nights so I can please myself with how chilled a day I have today, but am feeling ok in the grand scale off things, but I know how quickly this can change.

Have a brilliant weekend xx

Yes I had this but was only for one day and it went again the following day. Drink loads of water if you can! I am on AC-T. Xx

I’ve not felt as nauseous as last time🙌🏻 I woke quite early so feel tired and a bit fuzzy headed and I’m feeling a bit funny stomach wise but just eating smaller meals/snacks regularly today till it passes☺️ just back from an hours walk and trying to drink plenty to flush it all out! Glad to hear others are feeling not too bad too

Good to hear how everyone is getting on after chemo, forgive me I was trying to answer a few people but have given up as head feels a bit mush, glad to hear side effects are manageable
It’s been a bed day for me, Fuzzy head has well and truly kicked in today feel like I’m on a merry go round. I really admire how well everyone with young children are coping. Ice lollies have been my go to today.
Raining hear in Northern Ireland all day so don’t feel like I’ve missed much, next few days weather seems nicer.
Hopefully wherever you all are the sun will be shining :sparkling_heart:

Hi @pollyanna1 my day sounds like yours, it’s really kicked my ass this time, I’ve done absolutely nothing all day except eat, sleep and trying to get through the water :disappointed: sun is shining in the midlands but hopefully it’s still out tomorrow and I will feel better after taking it easy today, hope you will be feeling better for your rest too, sending lots of love xx

I am so grateful that I’m feeling so well this cycle, after the initial nausea. I’m 10 days post EC number 2, and have achieved what my oncologist said I was unlikely to do. I have just completed a half marathon! I started this journey v fit as I’m an ultra runner and am determined to maintain as much fitness as possible. It was tough, and a lot slower than usual, but I had friends behind me cheering me on. And the medal is awesome

Great to hear that people are doing ok after their rounds of chemo.

Massive congrats to @gromit12 on your half! That is just superb! I plan to restart c25k (have done many half’s and one full - but never an ultra) so this is really inspiring! Thanks so much for sharing :grinning:

Thanks for all the tips on the blisters on my sole. Rest and patience’s seems to be the only answer (unfortunately!!) Swelling is starting to go down so hoping to get back to getting up and out asap!!! I’ve spent so much on plasters and dressings but nothing really makes a difference.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday!

Hi @gromit12
I think it helps to share to good stuff alongside the crappy bits (for me anyway). It’s good to celebrate achievements :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::muscle:t2::grinning:

Wow :clap: well done @gromit12 , incredible achievement, so proud of you and hope you are so proud of yourself,
You are an inspiration for me this morning, keep sharing the amazing achievements as it’s these that keep up the positive spirits, we all need to vent our frustrations and I appreciate those too, nobody’s alone on this chat, good or bad, side effects or remedies, problems or solutions, funny or sad, everything is helpful and will get us kicking this cancer up the ass!!!
Lots of love to you all :heart::heart:

Omg AMAZING @gromit12 super pleased for you, you will be feeling on cloud 9 I bet & very rightly so.

What do oncologist know anyway right :thinking: you know your body better than anyone else & you’ve totally smashed this out the park :raised_hands::raised_hands: such an inspiration right there.

I hope the rest off today is spent resting & others running around after you

Again congratulations on such a massive achievement :partying_face: xx

Amazing!! Well done😁 definitely share - I absolutely believe this forum is for the good and the bad… no point just talking about all the sadder stuff when we also have other things to be grateful for and celebrate!

I posted on another topic (HER2+ one) the other day as I got a call saying my genetic results were negative and I literally burst into happy tears after it. I hadn’t even realised how anxious I was about it for my family/surgery options till I got the news and I was the same as you not sure about posting but I was so happy I just wanted to get it out.

I spent 5 hours at A&E this morning after phoning the helpline as my right forearm is quite tender/a bit swollen and the vein on upper half was raised and white with bruising around it so they wanted me to get checked. The doctor wasn’t sure said it may be thrombosis or irritation and I’ve to keep an eye on it and come back if it worsens. I wish the helpline could just get the NHS24 doctors appointment at the hospital for stuff like this instead if it’s just for a doctor to have a look as it’s not great sitting in a busy waiting room with loads of sick folk for about 4.5 hours before being seen as it gives me the major fear for catching stuff😷 fingers crossed it’s ok as I’m otherwise fine. Oncology are going to phone and speak to me tomorrow too☺️

@belle1 thank you  hope your arm resolves  it is a nonsense that we are expected to sit in A&E when we are so vulnerable - there ought to be away if getting a fast tracked doctor appointment. Take care xx
