April 2024 chemo starters

@hc1973 & @altoan hope both your days go really well! Sending hugs!:hugs:

@belle1 Iā€™m on a 3 week EC cycle and have found I get a sore throat in the final week - a few days before my next chemo session. Itā€™s just scratchy and inflamed and never seems to develop into anything else so Iā€™m guessing itā€™s a side effect x

Good luck with your 2nd :sparkling_heart:

Good luck :sparkling_heart:

@belle1, Iā€™ve had sore throat on both cycles lasts for about 10 days. I had a uti in first cycle and have felt it starting again yesterday. Iā€™ve no temperature same as before GP thinks it chemo related cystitis. Feel the same as you, is things just inflamed or is it infection like before. On a plus, sun shining here in Northern Ireland. Hope everyone keeping well :blossom:

@pollyanna1 @ivy-cat thanks for letting me know about yours too! Things have been ok today (sore throat going into ears still but no further sign of infection) so I had a chat with my BCN. She had said it isnā€™t a side effect of the EC but described it as that if Iā€™ve got a weakness in my immune system then my body will try to exploit it when my white blood cells are low after chemo so some folk find if they get tonsillitis once theyā€™ll keep getting it or a sore throat each cycle as thatā€™s what their body is prone to. Hope it makes sense as it made sense to me when she explainedšŸ¤£ she just said to keep doing everything Iā€™m doing and let them know if it does change at any time. I actually used to get tonsillitis a lot years ago and am prone to throat/chest stuff so just need look out for my body trying to get one up on mešŸ˜œ

Itā€™s cloudy but warm hereā€¦ Iā€™ll take some heat though and canā€™t wait to get out the garden in the next couple daysā€¦ that must mean ice cream too?!

@tsoph Itā€™s crazy how quickly the Phesgo can work, isnā€™t it? Mine was about the same size as yours and after one round of that and the docetaxel, my husband said mine feels much less like a bad boob job :joy:

Thanks. Will have a look at that website

Well my oncology appointment was whistle fast!!! Asked what side effects Iā€™d had, couldnā€™t believe Iā€™d done a half marathon, and predicted docextal will wipe me out :weary:and I wouldnā€™t need anti nausea meds :thinking:Asked if theyā€™d put a marker in on biopsies as chemo may have completely zapped it, but as itā€™s not palpable need ultrasounds to check size.

@gromit12 - yes the nurse told me docetaxel is brutal and Iā€™ll be pumped full of steroids but that it doesnā€™t cause nauseaā€¦.so thatā€™s a small win I suppose! Iā€™m really struggling with nausea two days on from my 3rd EC so will be glad not have it any more.

@belle1 - thatā€™s interesting, I had a terrible throat infection just before I was diagnosed with BC, so maybe itā€™s just a flare up of that as my immunity is suppressed? It always happens when my neutrophils are low, so I guess it could be.

Thanks to everyone for all their kind words and support. Just got back from my second EC, got a bit worried as I started feeling hot again and they all paused the treatment for a while but in the end decided it was just my blood pressure and my sugar levels had gone crazy (Iā€™m diabetic) so then carried on. I think I was also a bit paranoid from the Docetaxal. However Iā€™m now back home number 2 is ticked off the list yay. Sending love and support to all my fellow warriors Helen xx

@ivy-cat it would be nice to not have the nausea, as thatā€™s my main side effects post chemo. Though v apprehensive not to have all the anti emetics,.just in case!! Bit letā€™s get the 3rd round of EC done first!!

@kartoffel absolutely right! I was shocked at how fast it has changed. So i finally got an update today on whatā€™s next after my reaction to the Docetaxel. Iā€™ve been changed to nab-paclitaxel. I need to be consented with oncology again but the nurse said they might just consent me on the day!
Hoorah to moving forward. Lets hope itā€™s more successful than my last attempt.
@hc1973 well done for today! Hope youā€™ve got your feet up now

What a difference a day makes eh? Today I had my 4th accelerated-EC and am officially Half Way Through (it deserves a capital letter IMO):partying_face::partying_face:
I also used the cold cap, the nurse was wary but very supportive and used some gauze on the b**d spot. My next drug is Paxlitaxel and they explained how long it takes to administer and why. So I have just under two weeks to make my peace with hair loss and bid farewell to the salt & pepper, wavy, pixie cut of the past year and see what comes back in a few months :person_bald:t3::woman_curly_haired:t3::person_white_hair:t3:
And, Eurovision Semifinal is on :notes:

@hc1973 well done for today! Hope youā€™re doing ok!

@gromit12 sounds like we need to be prepped for oncology apps! Hope you had time to ask any questions and got the info you need.

Sending hugs to you all!
