April 2024 chemo starters

@steph1969 they advised me to do in the evening for the same reason, but like you poor sleeper, but I assume I’ll be buzzing with steroids for next 3 days as have to take those for next 48 hours. What antihistamine are you taking? Xx

I wasn’t told to take anti histamines pre injections. Wish I had been and I will ask the medical team about it before my next round.

I was told the evening too - although obviously I was kept awake most of last night with back pain @steph1969
I think some people do them at lunchtime

I am taking Loratadine, over the counter at pharmacy, one a day. Fingers crossed they help.

Unfortunately I have had an awful night with nausea- just sat propped up in bed all night- this is despite all the meds they sent me home with :woozy_face:all I can tolerate is sipping cold milk. And I need to start the injections later :woozy_face:hope everyone else is ok xx

Fingers crossed for you today @isthisreal xxx

Sorry to hear this. I hope the nurses have something extra up their sleeve they can give you.

The emergency line was lovely- need to take all the antiemetics regularly to get on top of it, for 3-5 days. One of the pharmacy labels was wrong!!! Have managed a couple of crumpets. Hope you’re ok x

Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough night @gromit12 i took so many anti nausea meds that I never felt sick - although obviously I’ve had other issues! I think it takes a bit of tweaking to get it right but hopefully you’ll get there x

Can I ask what people do that are getting mouth ulcers please? I’m on week one and day 6 of ec they’ve started.

I haven’t had this yet but was told to clean my teeth after every meal and swill and gargle with mouthwash. The hospital gave me a huge bottle @mlp74

I was advised this by my dentist too, they saidnit really did work, i havent needed it yet, thankfully. Sorry to hear all your side effects, i am having gaviscon before bed and filling up on prunes and figs and sennakot throughout the day.

Thanks!

@isthisreal so sorry you had that reaction, does that mean you can’t have the cold cap again? Have you got dexamethasone to take at home for the next 3 days? Hope you have a decent night. Anticipating the injection now, I’ve taken some Loratadine -hoping it might help. Forgot to ask the emergency line about that this morning

I had it before chemo but not sure what dose - it was a pretty large pill though, definitely bigger then the ones I took at home @steph1969
Glad they were able to continue with the chemo but sorry to hear about the cold cap

Sorry that message was meant for @isthisreal - I’m losing the plot :see_no_evil:

I had the dexamethasone via the PICC line @isthisreal pre chemo. No idea of dose
