August 2024 chemo starters

Hi @anne3 ,

Hope everything goes well and you have good news :crossed_fingers::pray:

You atr right , the syringes did make me think of those oversized clown props, was waiting for the nurse to squirt some liquid out as the clowns do :rofl:

I found my 1st EC the worse one by far, like the biggest mother of all hangoversā€¦ couldnā€™t walk on my own was to lightheaded and dizzy. The ones that followed were much better although 3 and 4 were harder at treatment time because i was cold capping. I wish i hadnā€™t but done now :muscle::muscle::muscle:

Iā€™m not cold capping anymore because i came to thw conclusion that i already need to cover mt head to go out in public although i do still have some hair all over, just extremely thined out. At the end of the day, itā€™s just hair, doesnā€™t define me, who i am and my personality does, and i have bigger battles to fight. If my hair takes longer to grow back so be it. Whith this being said and just for understanding, Iā€™m not a girly girl, far from itā€¦ but i do wish i wasā€¦ i kinda envy all those beautiful ladies with their hair and lashes and nailsā€¦ oh wellā€¦ Iā€™m who i am simple as that

Wishing everyone a good day with maybe a bit of sunshine, because sunshine makes everything better :people_hugging::kissing_heart:

Was that your first EC @anne3? You should just feel a bit out of sorts until anti sickness and steroids end. Then i find I have a rough day or two. As @dhmb said, its like a terrible hangover. The first was my worst too but 2 was okay. Hope that it is not too bad for you. Its been ok for me.

I am bracing myself for docetaxel. Got new meds for that to take a gazillion steroids before and also different anti sickness. But for now, Iā€™ll just plod on with my EC side effects.

Weirdly, my hair has stopped falling out. I am virtually bald, but the last covering on head is holding on. Reckon that in a few days this EC will take it though. Ive got stubble on legs. Dr said docetaxal will get my eyelashes and brows though.

Saturdayā€¦hope its great for you all. Iā€™m going to take kids to the skate park. Iā€™d say this results in a trip to casualty at last 30% of the time so fingers crossed for a hospital free day! X

@dhmb you have to look at the funny side sometimes! Itā€™s good to know how others find the treatments.
Iā€™m not a girly girl either, always feel I missed out the sophisticated phase! Mainly because I like doing things. However I did like having hair, even though it was never very thick it was always shiny. I still have some but it needs covering. My wig when I wear it is better than my normal hair so when I was offered false eyelashes at Maggieā€™s I thought that would just be a step too far!! Still have lashes and brows but thinner I think. Yes you can still be you, hair or not! xx

Hi @bluesatsuma yes it was my first ec, strange to have new side effects! My feet and stomach problems seems to have gone but itā€™s more sick/dizzy/headachey now but yes as you say then, Iā€™ll see how it develops!
I found paclitaxel has only taken 1/2 of my hair but not sure if the docetaxel youā€™re having is worse than paclitaxel?
Enjoy your day at the skatepark! Sounds fun if a bit scaryā€¦. my boys used to go up to the ā€šrampsā€™ when they were youngerā€¦ Hopefully no hospital visits today! Have fun :two_hearts:

:100: @anne3 you are absolutely rightā€‹:blush::kissing_heart:
How did you find paclitexel as treatments gone on? Asking because i found that as treatment goes on therenis a certain build up and not a total reset between them if that makes sense. Iā€™m going to have 12 , one each week.

@bluesatsuma hope the day goes without incidents, accidents or near missesā€¦ as Health and Safety would class them, either way, may it be a fun filled day without any hospitals in sight.

A huge hug to everyone :people_hugging:

Hi @dhmb I was two weekly so perhaps a bit different for paclitaxel but I found the first day or two were fine (when on steroids and anti sickness) but then I got some symptoms. The first cycle was the worst with stomach aches/bowel issues but then that calmed down (took buscopan and anything I had). Had leg pains but that was the felgrastim jabs. Later in the cycles I got some peripheral neuropathy - tingling and then itchiness in feet which did drive me a bit mad. They did reduce my dose for the last one so that is something to bear in mind. I found I got more tired as weeks went on but was never really fatigued. Was out in town the last week at museum and a restaurant and did walk more than usual. So I would say it didnā€™t really build up just changed over time. Wishing you the least possible side effects and a smooth ride. Take care :two_hearts:

Hi Anne do you know what make of eyelashes they offered you ? X

Hi @jules8 ooh I donā€™t know, sorry. It was when I went to Maggies in Cambridge for a wig fitting. The nice lady who made me a cup of tea and chatted when I arrived showed me them but my eyes are very sensitive anyway so I didnā€™t look properly. She did give me a very nice large starry scarf though which was lovely. Are you looking at various eyelashes? Welcome to our group by the way! :two_hearts:

Hi @sievehead exactly! How funnyā€¦. hope youā€™re doing ok xx

@anne3 Iā€™m all good thank you. Hope you are too. Iā€™m in one of my good weeks and have just mowed the lawn. That took more out of me than usual though but the fresh air and exercise was good for me!

Hi Anne thank you Iā€™m not sure what Iā€™m doing and which group Iā€™m in !! Just thought I might get a couple of lashes in to try if I felt up to it are aware can cause sensitivity bern told magnetic maybe better might just leave it unless I hear positive stories. Too many other things to worry about ā€¦ thank you

@jules8 good idea if you feel up to it. I donā€™t think I could cope. When I wear my wig or false fringe they sometimes slide up a bit so Iā€™d be useless with eyelashes! Good luck! :two_hearts:

Having hair cut off Sunday so one step at a time I suppose

Not loved my NHS wig, so ordered a couple of cheapo ones off vinted. Ā£10 each. One came todayā€¦totally nothing like my real hair, but thought itā€™d be fun for the odd night outā€¦quite like it! Not sure if Iā€™ll brave it in daylight but i could do it for a couple of family or friend nights coming up.

Morning ,

Looking great @bluesatsuma, I really like the colour :clap: Youā€™re so braveā€‹:face_holding_back_tears: You look amazing girl, of course i donā€™t know the ā€œbeforeā€ you but you got it lovely :kissing_heart:

I got a couple of wigs from Shein, and although they look good, havenā€™t even tried them on, best I managed was take one of them out of the package and brush it. Havenā€™t tried it on and by how needs to be brushed again :disappointed: i think Iā€™ll just keep to my headscarfsā€¦

Wishing everyone well, hugs xx

@bluesatsuma. I love that! I like the colour too. Actually think it would be good for me . How does it feel? My wig has been good some of the time but others it starts creeping up, same with my pretend fringe :face_with_diagonal_mouth:.
