Biopsy result waiting & so scared

Thankyou for your reply. It just seemed so quick and to get a phone call today at 4.50 for an appointment tomorrow at 4.50 seems quick? Maybe urgent? Especially as the MDT meetings every Wednesday. She just said it was a cancellation but maybe they say that not to panic you. I said surely it’s in priority order of who needs it, She just said there’s a list. She didnt really say much else. I’m absolutely terrified. I feel physically sick. It must be bad to be in that quick for them not to make me wait until my booked appointment :sob:

Or it may be good news and they want you off the books?

Or maybe they want further investigations so want to get that started. I had to have an MRI prior to my surgery.

Whatever it is worrying won’t change it.

Cancer treatment isn’t instant so a couple of weeks doesn’t make a huge difference.

Thankyou for replying and your advice. I’m all over the place. Just feels so quick. I felt like the nurse knew something. Did you have to have treatment after your MRI and operation?

I have 5 days of radiotherapy next week then I’m done. I was on hormone therapy but had horrendous side effects for little gain so am not taking it anymore.

Bless you. Did your treatment start quite quickly after diagnosis? Sorry for all the questions. Hope you don’t mind.

Hi @321_cake

I know exactly how you feel. They thought my lump was going to be benign at the biopsy appointment so scheduled a telephone appointment for the results two weeks later. Then I got a phone call a few days before to change it to a face to face appointment and Iwas a wreck from then on until the day of the appointment.

Once I received the news though, that anxiety melted away because knowing the bad news felt better than not knowing anything and I’ve felt very supported in dealing with everything going forward.

I really hope you get a positive result tomorrow but if not, just know you won’t need to go through it alone. Hang in there! x

Thankyou for your reply, Bless you. I had a face to face booked already but they just called and think she said was a cancellation so don’t know what to think but she seemed a bit I don’t know like something was off. So I’m just terrified they have brought it forward because of the news.

Have you started treatment? How are you feeling?

Yes, when they change the appointment type or bring it forward or something like that, it really does get your mind cooking! I’ve had it happen a few times and I’ve always grilled the poor booking agent, but they really don’t know anything.

I was actually diagnosed in November last year and admittedly have had a bit of a twisty journey so far, but things have settled down into a, so far, manageable treatment routine now and I’m feeling pretty good at the moment. Thanks so much for asking!

Hope you managed at least a little sleep and I’ve everything crossed for you today. :crossed_fingers:

Hello.

I think its good they called you for the cancellation. Write down some questions before hand.
I went in saying tomyself its cancer and it was. All I can say treatment has moved on from even 5 years ago.
Stay strong. We are all here big hugs xxxx

Definitely don’t mind.

I was prescribed Letrozole at my biopsy results appointment and started abou 10 days later once GP actioned and pharmacy filled it.

Sent for an MRI a week later, another appointment a week after that to arrange my surgery 3 weeks later. Then about 7 weeks to results of that. A week to see oncologist, a week until radiotherapy planning CT, ten days to start of 5 therapy.

First appointment breast clinic 11th Feb-last day radiotherapy with be 19th June.

Do you think if they are brought forward they are always probably bad news? I’m not with it at all today. I feel so sick.

Bless you, I hope things are going well and it’s good that it’s manageable for you. Sorry to hear it’s been a twisty journey.

Thankyou for your kindness bless you.

Thankyou for your advice. It feels the fact I’m called in early like it could be bad :sob: I hope all your treatment went well and your doing well.

Gosh bless you. That all must have been so hard for you. I hope you’re ok and the treatment is doing well. Bless you. Thankyou for your advice and explaining.

Not necessarily. As @bluetit11 said they could have just taken the opportunity to fill the cancellation with your case to wrap it up quickly.

At this point only those who know know and that is absolutely the worst bit. I also hate afternoon appointments because you also have to wait all day instead of getting it over with first thing!

Try not to worry too much you will soon know what your results are either way you will feel better. It is exactly the same feeling when they ring you and put your appointment back because your results aren’t back yet, it is your mind going into overdrive.
It might be you being called back because others results aren’t back yet, try not to overthink it, believe me I do know exactly how you feel.

Thinking of you today

Bless you thankyou for your reply. I just feel like all the evidence is pointing in the same direction. I think when I’ve spoke to the nurses they can sort of see that too when I’ve explained. I’m in such a state :sob: Thankyou for being there and replying.

Thank you for your reply. I just feel like surely they would offer those cancellations to those who need to get started on treatment and things. Rather than the people that would be discharged. I just feel like it’s all pointing that way. i know what your saying, Only they know.

I just have to wait :sob:

Thankyou for being there

Not neccessarily, you are just as important as those other people and need to know your results just as much as anybody else. Now is the time to be selfish and look after number one, if there ever is a right time it is now

Sending hugs

I hear you but you don’t have cancer until your told you do.

I had a spread to 2 lymph nodes which was a shock for me as they didn’t think it had gone there, I had to go back for results after having a full axillary clearance which was then delayed as results weren’t back so I guess my appointment was cancelled and given to somebody who they did have results for, it was also more waiting over the Christmas week, I was then convinced it would be in all of them to finally be told the others were all clear.

Are you taking somebody with you this afternoon?
