Loving your new jewellery attempts on Facebook. They are stunning.
Iām home, sorry I havenāt caught up with you all yet, I promise I will read back and post tomorrow.
Scan yesterday didnāt show anything untoward, swob test didnāt reveal anything the abscess that wasnāt an abscess is a mystery, itās a hole!
Got to go back on Friday theyāre going to keep an eye on it. Iām so glad to be home but so tired and Mr P is still away so not much support either.
Speak soon xx
Good to hear from you Peacock. Just to say we are still rooting for you and hoping that you will feel better soon.
I have a dental appointment tomorrow because I am starting cehmo again next week and have a wee hole in the roof of my mouth that I want them to check out. Then on MOnday blood tests for chemo and Zolidronate infusion on Tuesday at hospital then next Friday a catchup with my GP. Such a ful and interesting diaryā¦NOT!
Have been feeing tied today so sneeked off to bed earlier for a listen to the radio and a nap. Just what the doctor ordered. Hope you all have something nice in the pipeline to look forward to. Love to you all, Val
Hi, Val I was sorry to hear the tumour markers have raised and agree it is a good thing to get back on the chemo if you are feeling well enough.Good luck for the scans from me too. They are a worry but often they can be reassuring too, so thatās what I am hoping will happen for you this time. Yuk I hate the dentist so you would be dragging me there for a check! How sensible you are Val. A lot of medical stuff coming up on your calendar from the sound of it. Perhaps you can have coffee or lunch out on the day to make it feel a bit more enjoyable. Carole welcome back. While I am happy the scan did not show anything horrible I would have liked them to find something they could fix, rather than in limbo still. Is there a chance they have given too many rads to that area? Good luck with the skin problem. Are you feeling any better this week/ Lisa get back on the computer from the sound of it, far less stressful. You havenāt mentioned your rash and eye, are you better yet? Is there any chance of you and anyone else (will ask Nick when she gets on here) meeting def this time in October half term? I really want to do this if we can love Lily x
Hiya all buddies
Val, thanks re the jewellery, having fun just need to update facebook and my website - maybe this weekend. Sorry you have some horrid things coming up, maybe a wee purchase or two will help ?!?! Hope the chemo brings the markers back down, hope dentist isnt too bad.
Carole, pleased it isnt an abscess but bet you are making they stratch their heads - do you have any idea what it may be?! Have some rest, wish my P was back home to look after you xxx
Lily, when is half term, Im on holiday from 10-16 October, but yeay I am up for it, Iām more than happy to travel down your area, or meet inbetween, Im skint at mo but hey who cares, would be fab to eventually meet up.
Nicky, what do you think? Are you on your jaunts again or is it just your ipad issues (which may I add I am jeleous about you having one!).
Well off to bed soon, day off on Friday and have a ladies vs cancer night, so me and 16 mates are attending for a very girly night, might even have a hair cut⦠been letting it grow with the thought of having a wee perm??? dont know seems a big step mind always had curly hair??? or maybe a colour??? Any suggestions?!?
Night all xxx
Hi, Lisa it was Victor who suggested we went away, quite amazing after holding out so long about our Corfu holiday. I also have a godmother in Newark who I want to see, so we can try to do it all. he also has work up that way so if he gets a meeting in then the petrol is paid for too. Its not important though. Half term down here starts at then end of school on Friday 26 October. So it would have to be between then and the next week. Well lets see who can manage to join us and if they have pland for any particular days already. Would anyone else join us? Nick will be back on here soon so will wait to see her plans. Funny you are twinning me on changing hair. I just had a trim but have had it dyed a much more obvious red. Not the brilliant red that the younger than me folk have. I have such dark hair that it takes a ton to change the colour. She fluffed all my curls up and I look like I have an affro so wondering how it will look for work in the morning!!! Hopefully not one side big and the other flat I love having it dyed as it goes so smooth and really shiny but soon gets back to normal. I am wondering whether to go back to my doc as the lump in my foot keeps making my leg go into cramps and I cannot do front crawl legs at all now without the same. trouble is, I might be referred then and really donāt want another op and recovery
. Lisa have a lovley time at your do. What is the entertainment? Wish I could come with you. carole and Val hoping to hear you are starting to feel brighter. Nick speak soon Lily x x
Hey twinning is defo happening, not to same degree but everytime I go swimming i get cramp in my foot, just one, every time without fail
Ha, I had to look up where Newark was lol!!! Count me if though if it happens might be a few odd days I cant do but hey ho, we may make it at last.
Was thinking of a hair dye, perm too drastic me thinks but i dont like tame colours so we will see, might have to wait to after hols otherwise I could turn orange or something lol!!
Hope everyone is doing okay xxxx Do tomorrow night features men waiters so Im happy lol! Some music, live bands and raffle - ooops forgot to do my jewellery voucher - better get cracking.
Night all xxxx
Hello everyone. Had a pleasant day? I was at Ikea but my OH pushed me around in my wheelchair to make the job a bit easier for me. Didnāt buy anything excitng, a new frame for a picture (old frame fell to the floor) some new towels and some tea lights etc.
Went to see my Dad afterwards and picked up my YD from there as she was at his house doing the chores for him. Then we decided to stop for fish and chips to save shopping, cooking and doing the dishes afterwards. My YD and I had a half fish supper while my Oh had the full one. The girls struggled even to finish that half portion!!!
Came home and watched a little TV but there is nothing on now to take my fancy. So heading up to bed with Stuart Mcbride,āDark Bloodā a MURDER! These steroids seem to be working for me and I feel so much more like my old self again. Amazing what a tiny pill can do. Hope I donāt come down with a bump.
The weather here for the weekend is meant to be really sunny. No plans yet. Will wait to see how the day pans out.
Hope you are all having fun. I know what you are all up to. Have a great weekend. Peacock. Any news for us? Love Val
Hi buddies, hooray friday seemed to come round quickly this week so I can enjoy the weekend again . I was watching a film with son but it really wasnāt very good and we both gave up on it. We thought it was going to be disaster end of the world film but what we got was a possibly mental man with mad dreams and dreams of weird faces and running people over and the dog sttacking him and then he wet the bed! that was the final straw for us, the hero never wets the bed in the films we like ha ha. So I am on here and he has gone to bed. He currently works 6 days a week so he is enjoying bed more than ever these days. We have quite a busy day tomorrow as the tree surgeon is attempting to chop a few of our dozens of trees. So many are over 40 foot that it is an ongoing job. Some days I think we are protecting the ozone layer in our garden!! I will take mum food shopping as usual and it is also my little nieceās party so will pop in for that. Then footy on sunday if the weather holds and dinner for the army in the evening. Val I am so glad that the little pills are brightening your days and improving your appetite. Long may that continue (not the tablets!)and enjoy the book. I like Ikea but the nearest one is such a treck that I have never actually been. Maybe that is a good thing as I am drawn to so many things in the catalogue. Lisa I woke up with big hair but not as big as yesterday. I donāt know how the hairdresser does it as it never does that for me.I had a few compliments and a lot of people noticed the colour change so it is probably brighter than usual. The splats on the sink are really bright cherry/burgundy but dark hair always blends everything. The test will be whether my mum even notices ha ha. I feel very sorry for her as she is on her 3rd cold in a month, just one after another. She has chronic asthma so it always hits her hard. What colour are you thinking of? I am really curly today, like a big puffball with wild curls all sticking out! I hope your lovely do was a sgood as it sounded, a great cause anyway. I have forgotten where are you going on holiday and when? Carole how did you get on at the hospital today? I am hoping they were able to help with the rash/area. Love Lily x
Hi ladies, sorry for my absence, just been so tired since I returned home from hospital and itās been difficult trying to keep up with the animals, housework, school runs etc.
Val itās good to hear that you are feeling so much better, and I must say your fish and chips made my mouth water, it is one thing I miss being here still unlike your weight I donāt think my kilos could handle fish and chips too often.
Lily so what is going on with your foot? Have you been to see anyone with it? Hope it doesnāt stop you enjoying a busy weekend, youāve got a lot planned so enjoy.
Lisa how did the ladies vs cancer night go? How much was raised for charity? Did you manage to get any jewellery orders?
I hope that you ladies ā or some of you ā manage a meet up next month, I would love to join you but unfortunately I donāt think my health is good enough for me to plan anything. I usually visit my Mum around last week of October as itās her birthday but sadly this year I wonāt be able to see her. Anyway I will look forward to hearing all about it if it happens.
My visit to the hospital went ok, I still have the hole which is being cleaned and dressed each day by the nurse who comes, they wonāt stitch it up as it could form into an abscess which they would then need to operate on. Itās a funny hole, I mean it seems to āburpā and make strange sounds. They think it was caused by radiotherapy although no one will accept responsibility. Iāve got another appointment on Friday for them to check it again. The reconstructed boob (this goes back to July) is also still being treated but is slowly getting better. The rashes have all gone and my headache/eye problem has settled down. So apart from feeling exhausted all the time and not having much motivation for doing anything I am over the worst.
Thank you all for your support over the last few weeks, enjoy the weekend ladies xxx
Good to see your post Carole. I hope they manage to sort out your hole problem. I think they always want things to heal from the inside out like you describe so that no infection sets in. Fingers crossed that it will all sort itself out in the end. The weather here has been lovely today and we took the car into town and had a wander round the shops in my wheelchair. But I had my crutches too so I coud get out and look at things when the fancy took me. We came home and I got my reclining seat into the garden, got out my murder book and had a snoack. Thought of you Carole as it was Rilletts on spelt bread. I love the Rillets we buy in France but this one was equally nice from Waitrose here in town. My OH is chopping down an overgrown Buddleigh bush that looks more like a tree that a shrub. He seems to go mad with the cutters thugh and I need to bite my tongue and let him get on with it. The cats are wandering n and out and enjoying the warmth. Hope everyone is well and getting on with normal life. Try not to overdo it Carole. Rest is very important too. Just as imprortant as chores and being a taxi service. Hugs Val
Hi, Carole I have had an abscess in the past and had the hole for ages. They warned me it would be very slow to heal but eventually it did and the hole just got a weeny bit smaller each week. I guess they are waiting to see what happens and making a decision based on what they see each appointment. Surely it canāt have been over-irradiated or they could be sued for negligence? After all these are critical calculations carried out by a trained expert because if they overlap or get it wrong necrosis occurs and it doesnāt heal. Keep onto this one and I think maybe ask the question about the amount and units of radiation you had and if this was defintely calculated correctly. Good luck. I was worried it could be a bug in it but they would know that by swabbing and testing it. Follow up closely. Very glad to hear the eye has improved though. One down two to go My foot has a hard lump in the arch and I have seen the gp. he siad it was a ganglion and hopefully it might go in 6 months but if it becomes a problem I need to see an ortho surgeon to have it cut out. I donāt think it is a ganglion because they are squashy and they draw fluid out through a needle but this is like a rock. umming and ahhing whether to go back to the gp, especially as I have done some research and think his dx is wrong. it can wait. Our meet will be that exact week, end of Oct are you sure you canāt? It would be sooooooo lovely and all your little people to see too??? Val would there be any travellable distance for you? Nick hoping it will be good for you. Val I am really glad to hear you are starting to use your crutches outdoors more. We need to encourage you to get mobile and confident before the wet and icey weather starts. Enjoy the lovely sun while it lasts. love Lily x
hi all, sorry couldnt get logged on properly - arrgggh!!! Glad everyone doing as well as can be! not much sun up here, laides vs cancer was fab! Raised £2500 so all good and my head is still sore and sore throat from laughing and drinking! Catch up tomoz xxxx
Hi, well done Lisa that was a huge amount to raise. Hope you behaved yourself!!! it looks like you and Val are in for some very bad wind and rainy weather, from the weather forecast i just saw, so take care. It i9s rai9ning here and has been for most of the day but not heavy. Son hurt his back at football so he had to come off and we were able to leave a bit earlier and get out of the rain. The pup has just taken 10 minutes to select a spot on the lawn and now looks like a dishcloth with her long fluffy hair all wet. She still thinks she is getting into our room tonight! Did you enjoy x factor this weekend? We were surprised by some of their choices. I think they forget that as well as singing well, they have to attract a fan base to pick up the phone and vote for them or they go straight out, no matter how well they can sing, or how sorry we feel for them. I wanted the guy with the rock voice to go through. Never mind I am sure we will soon have a favourite/s. Take care Lily x
Hi Ladies
Lisa and Val, I hope the bad weather Iāve seen on the news hasnāt been affecting you? It looks pretty awful so Iād advise stay in and keep warm. Lily has it been bad in the South of England too?
No news from me, Mr P will be back tomorrow although weāre not sure what time as his route via Brittany Ferries has been cancelled so heās been diverted to Dover - Calais. Calais to the Dordogne is quite a long ride I think, so his driving time will probably be more.
Quite a nice day here, even managed a tiny bit of gardening.
Hope you are all ok, well done Lisa for raising so much money, Lily how is sonās back now?, Val are you still eating for 6?
XXXX
Hi Carole, I hope things have settled down a little for you now after such a tough time of worry after worry. The weather hasnāt been a problem this way. A bit of light rain and temperatures have dropped in the morning and evenings but nothing spectacular, not even a puddle here, so we were more fortunate than some. Thank you for asking son is more or less on the mend. I think it was sciatica which usually resolves itself after a while. Hope Mr P gets back before too long. Does he get fed up when they change ports? I am quite worn out after a late night at school and I was standing all evening so my aalves are complaining at the extra effort! In my absence I was awarded top slimmer for Sept, which I am really quite amused about and a bit chuffed. I wonder what went wrong for everyone else and why did it have to be the week I was at work and couldnāt stay for the talk! I have lost 17lbs now, some people are starting to notice and trousers are baggy so might be time to move down a size and pack them away just in case I go back up.I think it was seeing the number of stones going down another one that cheered me most. never fear buddies no chance of me disappearing, still plenty of luggage to lose love Lily x
Well done Lily for being slimmer of the month, what a shame you had to miss the presentation you must feel very proud. I would be feeling very happy if I could buy a size down in clothes, well done.
Iāve been forgetting to say, Iāve been taking tamoxifen for 3 weeks now, havenāt noticed anything different but is it too early for the side effects to start?
Hi Girls, Had an unusual day yesterday. Got called from the ward to go in early for 2 units of blood as HB 8.9. Got my usual infusion to strengthen bones while they crossed-matched the blood which took 2 hours to arrive. First unit went fine but the second unit made my temp soar so they had to slow it down and instead of taking 2 hours to infuse it was to be done over 4 hours! The unit shuts around 6 30 so they ad to wheel me over the bridge to the BC ward to finish off the transfusion. Iwent to the ward at 11am and got home last night at 8 30pm and it is only a shortish drive form the hospital. I have started my chemo tabets again this morning so it is all go! But feeling better. But told to rest and sit on my ass! I have lost more weight too and I am getting concerned about that. They said I was 9 st 7lbs and I haveāt been that for 30 years! The size 14s are now a bit loose so hope I do not need to go down another size. That will mean I have 18/16 14 and perhaps 12s in my wardrobe. I was going to clear out the bigger sizes but R says I should wait as it could go back on again. I have to remain on the steroids after Friday but to take one tablet after that on alternative days. I am rattling about with ll these pills in me. Between my painkillers, asprin after op, steroids, chemno tablets and calcuim it is not great fun!
I missed my haircutting appointment last night. 6 weeks ago I missed it as having op and this time I was still in the hosp so fringe will need lopped ASSP. Waiting for bed man to arrive. We ordered a new bed with drawers underneath from JL a couple of weeks ago but there are clips missing from the drawers so they are coming to sort that out between 11am and 1pm.
Not had any floods where we are although the weather is very changeable and today is meant to be good but so far it is overcast and there was heavy rain in the night. Well better go and do something as my bum getting numb. Much love to all DB of M girls. Love Val
Hi, Val what a mammoth visit at the hospital and I remember how tired it makes you feel. Hopefully the blood has given you a little more bounce though. Have you ever reacted to a transfusion before or can each time be different? You would certainly beat me on dropping through the clothes sizes but I know this will also give you some concern. Remember how long you told us you did not feel like eating so maybe it is not unexpected? You can always go back on this site to see how long you were off food for. I would asking to borrow some of those sizes if I was nearer! Hope the new bed is lovely and comfy. Carole I am delighted to hear you have no side effects and as most people say they start very quickly, I will keep my fingers crossed that you nare on the lucky team for once! Long may the no effects last! Are you feeling brighter? Lisa I looked at your site yesterday but a lot of blank boxes with no pictures are you working on it at present? Nicky are you back? Lily x x
HI all, Im back sorry been working loads, in fact till 1.30am last night but enought about me.
Lily - of course I behaved my self at party, there was no men (well apart from waiters lol). Weather was bad on Monday but eased off a bit now, its cold too. Slimmer of the month and 17lb that is amazing, so jeleous, I just cant get into it even though I am swimming loads.
Carole, how are you feeling and how is the rash etc. Glad you have had no side effects to date on tamoxefin, sounds like you have enought to deal with without anything else.
Val, good about the weight loss maybe steriods will put some of it back on, hope chemo going okay and you get your nice comfie bed soon.
Hope Nicky is having fun she seems to have been awol for ages lol1
Lily, been making loads of more jewellery so started taking the pics down but havnet had time to put them back up so planning to get sorted at weekend as have about 100 new pictures to go up⦠keep watching.
Night all xxxx
