Hi,
Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear loraiaiaine, Happy birthday to you! How lovely the little chap baking a cake for you. That would have made me cry. Enjoy your shopping days later on in the week after the celebrations on the day are over.
Well I have to say things are starting to ache a bit tonight. My middle daughter came with me and we did enjoy it. It is a small gym that only has 7 people at a time and you always have a personal trainer. It was another guy and he just constantly goes round encouraging you and checking if you are ok, pushes the speed and gives you mini targets. That is their selling point that you always have someone with you. Everyone else there was fat and jolly, which was nice and reassuring. My daughter nearly murdered me because I told them she had been a county gymnast and he gave her really tough targets. Woops. He kept us going for 80 minutes and I was terrified we had to do 2 hours instead of one. We are going back for our second session on Thursday if able to walk still! Meanwhile the cloakroom is tiled floor and ceiling and I am really pleased with it or will be when I can get back in to use it. Bev I am hoping this will help me with the race for life as we start off with a long walk on the treadmill. Are you practising? Lorraine no fear, I came home and had a piece of coffee and walnut cake. My daughter said she is going to tell him!!! I am just trying to find my stomach muscles and improve my stamina very slowly. If I keep it up that is. The lodger is a second or third cousin of my husbands. Hubby is showing signs of strain before me ha ha. Lisa poor old you, hope it goes really soon. All my lot have bugs and feel lucky to have missed it but had a grotty one a few weeks back. I really begrudge getting stupid normal viruses and bugs now, donāt you? I feel we deserve an amnesty from them. Hope you are much better by the long weekend and being sick means not working at all in case no-one ever told you, not bringing it home!! Nicky please donāt expect to see any change in my physique will you! I think I may be walking like John Wayne in the morning after the inner thigh cruncher, ooh feel pale just thinking about it. Getting use to an extra person in the house now and he goes to bed early so then I can carry on as usual. A bit worried about his ulcerated legs as they are just being left till he goes home again. Bet that will be a rotten job for someone! Anyway we are all looking forward to our week in Ampshire and it will be even better to meet up now you know where you stand and can relax a little. I know till the next one!
Angie we are all missing your posts, big hugs.
Lily x x
Well done Lily what a trooper! I am also trying to increase my stamina level by swimming and I have been on few rambles but my legs really start to give up, I am noticeably less fit than the rest of the rambers (and a lot of them are older than me which is a bit depressing) Your guest sounds as if he has terrible problems it almost makes me feel we are healthy in comparison. Well we are getting there anyway.
I find out by the end of the month what hours I will be offered at work but I suspect it will only bye 8 which is a drop of 12 hours which will make a lot of difference to my pay and give me a bit too much time to spend thinking! ( I donāt do that at work ha ha well I do but you know what I mean) so I am really fed up about that as I was just getting back into some kind of structure and looking for a new job isnāt easy in todays climate. Still as we all know things can be worse.
Hope you have all enjoyed the nice weather while it lasts.
Thinking of you all and especially you Angie.
love Bev x
hi everyone
thanks for the birthday , i had a lovely day. today i went out with my son and 13 of his friends and one other parent, we went to alton towers. they were a really nice bunch of teenagers, i dont go on the rides, so i was walking around gardens, and just meeting up with them occasionally. i was sweating after walking, youād have thought id run the marathon. and im really in pain tonight, and absolutely shattered, my mets dont normally play up but have give me pain in neck, back and legs.
and the usual scary feelings keep surfacing.
nicky
do you get much pain, with your secondaries?
short post tonight, girls to tired, speak tommorow.
goodnight god bless x
Hi,
Lorraine so sorry to hear you are in pain tonight and hope it has eased a little (preferably a lot) by the time you read this. It is not long since you had a lot of tests, so try to stay calm as you probably just overdid it at Thorpe park plus the journey. If you think about it, you have been really busy. Take care x.
Bev well done for the swimming and I know what you mean about the legs going. I was surprised how much further I could go on the treadmill than on grass, as less resistance. I am noticably less fit than everyone I go out with except my BC friends! The drop in hours is rotten just as you are getting back to normal too. Shout disability act at them. It means that no-one can be treated more favourably than you even if it means treating you better than colleagues. So if anyone gets less of a cut than you, you can take action. Easier to mention it beforehand though. Good luck. Will it be a problem financially? I hope not and good luck to you too x.
Quite a busy day here again, man came to fix the chair and failed and took it back again, son took the first part of his driving test and failed by 2 marks. Went out to lunch with 2 of my lovely BC friends and failed to resist pudding. Hoped to go out to dinner but failed as friend had projectile vomiting and visitor said his legs hurt too much! He waited until I was actually ready with my shoes on so not impressed. So we had to buy fish and chips and he did not even offer a share. Been very childish and ignored him for most of the evening. He didnāt notice. Asked him when he was going - Friday lunchtime. We have arranged to go out for lunch so will shuffle him along asap Friday morning. Hubby gave him a key so he was on the sofa before I even got home. Never ever again!
Must stop moaning. Lisa hope you are not too poorly and take it easy over Easter
Lily x x
Hi All: Am going to try to do catch up with all that has been happening in the last couple of weeks ā this should be a marathon!
Nicky: Hope you have settled down now and are feeling calmer about the scans etc. I think we are all OK until they want to check up on us and we start to get the āwhat if???ā feeling. Great news about the mets ā things donāt always go badly!
Lily: You seem to have a lot on your plate what with the visitor, etc. You must be a saint ā I get sick of the sight of people when they come for dinner if they stay after midnight ā donāt think I could cope with a whole week! One reason why I donāt have a spare room!
Hope the mammo results are good ā guess I will have to have one in the not too distant.
Re garments for being in the sun ā I understand that silk is better at keeping away the burning rays than cotton and it is not too difficult to find cheap silk baggy tops these day ā just a thought!
Love the personal trainer! I think it really helps to have someone there urging you along ā it is so easy to think āI canāt be bothered to go todayā.
Lisa: The night hots are a pain, arenāt they? I remember from my proper menopause but now starting to get them again with Ari. Not too bad at the moment ā tend to get up and got to loo to cool down and try to get really cold before getting back into bed. Iām getting shoulder pains with Ari but am trying just to work it away rather than take ibuprofen or whatever.
Lorraine: Happy birthday for Tuesday ā how nice having a cake made for you ā only problem is it encourages you to eat it!
Bevy: The job thing it a bitch, hope you manage to sort them out. Whilst you donāt want to overdo things, the financial side is important.
Well, I had some nice news last night ā my BCN called to sign me off from her attention. She wonāt be calling each month to check on me now, but is there if I need anything. I asked what my technical status now is and she said āYou donāt have cancer, it has gone, and all we are doing now is checking on you to make sure it doesnāt come backā Good news or really good news??? Just keep taking the pills and doing the checks. She mentioned that some women feel bereft when the support goes but I just want to be left alone - a touch of the Greta Garboās!!! OH was out last night so will keep the champers until the weekend ā it might offset the horrible Easter weather.
All I have to do now, is lose the stone in weight and get my lardy backside into gear ā the personal trainer may be the way to go - just difficult finding the right one.
Hope you all have a great Easter and you have a good week away, Lily. Will keep in touch.
LOL
Julia
Hi Ladies woo hoo a few days off for Easter and then a couple more to chill out and catch up with things, then onto the next Great Meet Up with Lily. Hope you have my numbers to hand and we can organise ourselves for next week. Iāve had another thought about where you are staying - there is a steam train there that runs short journeys and they often do āspecialsā for Easter etc - worth checking out. t runs from the town centre and is called the Watercress Line.
Great to hear from everyone (except Angie - where are you?). Hope you are all looking forward to some time off away from work or chores or hospitals. Interesting Julia that you get pain in your shoulders from Ari - I do as well but of course assume the worst until my latest scans showed nothing there. I take Glucosamine and Chrondroitin for aches which I think help but not too sure as I ache still, especially in bed for some reason. I also get up and go to the loo to cool down when I get warm/hot - luckily no hot flushes as such though.
Lily - I hope you guest leaves you in peace for at least half a day to get on with packing etc. Also that thereās not too much work for you clearing up bedding etc after heās gone. Maybe Victor will think twice before offering the Lily DB & B service next time
Exercise-wise Iām still going for several long walks each week and doing some light weights etc at home with my iPod plugged into my ears. I used to go to a class that did Tums Bums and Thighs so can remember what I should be doing. My ED bought Davinaās latest exercise DVD after Christmas and even though sheās a fit athlete really feels it afterwards! There are some lower level workouts on there as well so it may be worth looking at if any of you want to do a bit at home.
Anyway, must dash for now.
Take care everyone
Nicky xx
hi everyone
still recovering from aches and pains, from having a full day out yesterday, with son and friends at alton towers. i couldnt sleep last night, i was feeling really strange and so hot and bothered.
anyone doing anything for weekend.
i went lymphodema nurse today, for help with lymphodema, but she says its going to be massage she thinks, because its in my shoulder area, top of arm and above where my breast was. weve tried certain garmants and they dont seem to be helping.
Hi All and Happy Easter
I notice a few of you are suffering from aches and pains due to your medication, not sure if it will help but I have a friend who swears by the following health drink so it may be worth a try?
the health drink to help ligaments and swollen joints is
Mug of hot water
dessert spoon of Apple cider vinegar
" " Honey
drink 1st thing in the morning and last thing at night , If you can`t face it twice a day then morning is best
As I said it takes 6/8 weeks to start noticing an improvement . Good luck Guys !!
Hope you feel better Lorraine but if it is any concilation my back really aches after going on one of my rambles (attempts at getting fit) and again after a day at work or any small amounts of gardening I may do (just hope to goodness that is an indicator that I have a prob as I am just assuming it is due to the extra weight and the general lack of mobility over the past months)
Lily sorry to hear your son didnāt crack it this time but he will our daughter ended up taking her actual test 5 times!!! aghhh it was such a drama but now she is 25 and is a really good driver far more aware than our son. She often has to drive a mini bus in France transporting people from their Chalets to the ski slopes.
The drop in hours will make a big difference thankfully Hubby is responsible for the bulk of our living costs but my bit helps out with my petrol, phone extras etc so it is a real shame as I feel better when I have to work to a structure. I use to be a teaching assistant for 13 years so will may try to get back into that if there are any vacancies! Still hey ho as we know worse things happen.
Hi to Nicky, Lisa and of course Angie always in our thoughts.
Happy Bunnies to you all! Bev x
hi girlies
how many hot cross buns anyone eaten? i will confess ive had 2 for brekky. and an easter biscuits from gregs.(yummy) as you can see not started diet yet. well started and stopped a few times.
feeling little better today, but some strange feelings just lately, im putting down to the tamoxifen, but others tell me arimadex is just as bad in another way.
wandered around town today, and chatted to people i know, somedays its nice to just will your time away.
bevvy
how much weight have you gained during treatment? i was 111/2 stone before, now 13. like you said aches and pains can be down to the weight gain, and lack of movement previously.
nicky 08
hope you ok, and enjoying yourself, after good news of no further spread.
lily 2000

angie

hi all, hope everyone has a lovely Easter.
Defo have sholder pain which worried about but if others have it maybe is tablets, going to try that stuff for aches and pains as feel sooo old. Went out with friends last night but Im feeling really crap, think I have tonsellitus again, glands are huge and look crap, want to enjoy days off too. On good side, Im due to be an aunty again any day now!! Yippeee!!
Glad everyone doing okay, Angie hope you are okay!!!
Have a nice time all - just cracked open my easter egg and going to have a quiet weekend xx
Hi,
Lisa sorry to hear about the old tonsils, I hate that, so uncomfortable. Get better soon so you can see the baby when it arrives, might need to see the doc if white spots on the tonsils. You are braver than me, always too scared to try anything ādifferentā. My boss who had BC asked me if I had been for a detox to remove the chemo. I said I want every last drip of the powerful poison to fight the bā¦s so not doing anything. Lorraine I can be really good as I donāt like hot cross buns!! Now Easter eggs well thats a different story. I have a large Lindt one which is beckoning me as we speak. What do you mean by strange feelings, emotionally or physically? Take care I am sure you will be fine. We all seem to be getting things from the tablets. Bev great tip but as you will have read I will be far too scared to try it. Hope it helps the others though. Son has rebooked test, we are only on the theory!! You have to get 43 correct out of 50 and they asked about electric cars and he didnāt have a clue. x x Angie.
Well he has gone, at last but not before eating all the bread so I had to go shopping to have my breakfast this morning. Not amused as he was sitting with a huge bowl of cereal and mountain of toast. His final comment was āwell Iāll be back later on this year as I have to come down again.ā Arggh. Not can I, is it ok,just heās coming. Oh no he is not. Even hubby said i think he will find we are busy. I said well I am going to stay somewhere else if he comes and you can stay off work and look after him. Such a relief to have the house back. We all exchanged eggs today as off on hols. Mind you nearly everyone is coming with us. Owner of the house called and said the outdoor pool is ready and really warm, in the 80s so packing my cossie and a large t shirt to cover the overhanging blobby bits. Taaking the laptop so if there is internet I will pop in, if not speak soon and enjoy this lovely Easter week.
Nicky Iām on my way!!
Lily x x
Hi Bunnies of May and a hoppy Easter to you all - what dreadful puns or should I say buns?
Hope you all are having a good break. Weather is pretty awful here, not pouring with rain but too drizzly for my liking. Hope it doesnāt put a complete dampener on Lilyās break as she wonāt be far from here.
Sometimes I do wonder what I read on here - I seem to miss huge bits of peopleās news and only realise and re-read when someone else comments on it. So, sorry, about sonās theory test Lily, itās not the end of the world but itās quite nice to get it out of the way. Only thing is heād have to pass the driving part in the year if he had passed it, so weāre all safe for a bit longer!
Am I the only one that doesnāt really like Easter Eggs? I do like chocolate every now and again but Iām not sure disguising it as an egg helps! Lorraine,Lily and anyone else -tell me where I should send mine - if I get any.
Aches definitely seem to be one of the worse carry on effects from the hormones and some ladies seem to suffer more than most. Thereās been quite a few posts on the forums about it and it may be worth checking out. SOme have been so bad theyāve stopped taking them. Unfortunately a āluxuryā us secondaries girls canāt take eh, Lorraine. BTW (another comment Iād missed) - yes my mets do ache from time to time but seem to play up in the same way osteoporosis would ie damp or cold weather. Othertimes I donāt feel them 1 bit - having said that I didnāt notice them before dx either so maybe Iām not such a good judge! I also get tired if I do too much walking or anything! Not too bad but have learnt to slow down a bit.
Lisa - hope itās not tonsillitis - you do seem to be going down with a few things - get that immune system up! Maybe go back to the chicken soup recipe of Angieās way back when.
Bev - thanks for the tip on cider vinegar, Iāve heard before itās good for allsorts of things but didnāt know a ārecipeā may give it a go if itās not too disgusting!
Lily - bet you enjoy your break - well of course you will as we will be meeting up again! Even more so since your rude visitor. I know itās easy to put it down to his illness but politeness never cost anyone anything did it? Bet you let out a little (big) cheer when he went. Iām sure you will be away or busy with another visitor next time Or maybe just decorating āhisā room which can take forever!
Take care all, a bit miz here again on the weather front, hopefully it will brighten up later.
Nicky xx
ps had some retail therapy yesterday - how lovely - and what else can you do when itās raining?
Soz all think ive missed a few posts what iwth the tonsils crap!! Lily and Nicky hope meet up goes okay and weather picks up, its been glorious here today proper nice t-shirt weather (well if I can get my chest sorted!!).
Had a nice day but bit fed up at mo, totally stupid and god I should be soooo lucky to be alive so should never twine, but the best girly night of our year is tomorrow and no-one going out as all my friends are settled down with kids and just got a bit weepy bowt it tonight, which is sooo feeble I know.
On good point watched Britian Got Talent, thankfully didnt see us in Glasgow audiance but boy did I laugh at Stravros and cry at the Woman who sang opera, sad or what!!!
Lily glad visitor has gone, phew, enjoy next week and your meet with with Nicky, who, ohhhh my god, how can you not like Easter Eggs?!?!?! Love the crispy chocolate, however, cant do hot cross buns twin!!!
Love to everyone and have a fantastic day tomorrow, cant even remember easter last year, wasnt too long after op so was probably a grouch (hey whats new then!!!) xx
p.s. soz if that was a bit of a mizz post!!!
Has anyone heard from Angie, just getting a tad worried, hope its that sheās just having a honeymoon or something nice ir hasnt got broadband sorted - angie if you are out there, hope you are okay xxx
hi all, hope everyone had a lovely Easter! just popped onto say Ive just become an Aunty again! my brother and his wife had a little baby boy tonight, all well!!! yippeee xxx
Hi Aunty Lisa and everyone else.
You must be so happy - but I know itās tinged with a bit (a lot?) of sadness as well. How lovely a real Easter Bunny to hold! Hope this cheers you up but itās no wonder you feel so low, itās that awful time still where weāre all thinking about last year. Iām just happy Iām here and feeling better than last year - which is a bit strange given my circumstances.
Hope everyone had a good Easter. A very wet and miserable one down South so I hope Lily hasnāt been washed away. I spoke to my brother on G Friday and he was in the garden in shorts - heās also Up North in Bolton! Bit better weatherwise yesterday and today. Luckily OH and I have today and tomorrow off so a bit of a break - at last! Off to some garden centres later after my walk and his (long) bike ride.
Take care all and hope youāve only been away from here because you were busy.
Nicky xx
Hi Nicky thanks! I was a bit weepy but the baby is soooo adorable, boy cost me a fortune already, lol!
Hope your weather improved, sun gone here today!!!
Hope everyone all okay!!
Hi,
managed to briefly get online. We are staying in a fab house which is in a tiny dip between a ploughed hill and hilly wood all around us. The views out of the windows are to die for. Havenāt chanced the pool yet, mainly due to being seen in my cossie - not a pretty sight! If you hear of a tidal wave in Hampshire you will know I jumped in lol! Meeting Nicky and her Oh tomorrow so another BIg chat on the cards.
Lisa congrats, fab news, what is his name?
Speak soon
Lily x
Lily hope you have a fab time and your meet up tomorrow goes well!!!
Baby boy is called Taylor Stephen!!
Penicillian again for throat, had back and chest and heart tested today s the nurse was worried how I was breathing as one side of my tonsils is swelled so much thereās no gap and its resting on my tongue (now I know the reason behind the gagging!!). Plus side lost 2lb - diet time tomorrow, trying a slimming club maybe!!!
Hope everyone okay and having a nice week!
xx
