Darling buddies from May - moving on

Thanks for all your comments x

Glad the yellow party went well, sounds lovely x

Ascot eh, you should post a picture with your hat, lol!

Lily hope the race went well today, its emotional but sure you had a blast but tired.

Love to all and enjoy rest of weekend xx

Hi,
first of all Lisa, with you buddy all the day tomorrow and hoping to hear something better than you are imagining this might be. I would be wetting myself ringing up. Make sure you think about what you want to ask them and maybe write some questions down. They may want to push your recon forward. Tons and tons of luck and please let me know when you can, I will be anxious for you.
Bev hope you did not have to look after everyone if they went a bit mad. I had no idea everyone got so out of it there!
Lorraine the party sounded lovely and hopefully will be some nice memories to look back on, something positive that came out of this BC rubbish. I am squirming about all those mice, yuk yuk yuk! I would have left home.
Well I did it, the race for Life that is, walked 5km around Hylands Park. It took me about an hour and my legs were aching going up the hilly parts and on the rough ground. I did not dare stop in case I couldn’t get going again lol. I burst into tears at the start with all the messages on people’s backs and the enormous crowd cheering everyone through the start. It was really overwhelming the support from people all around. I had survivor one year on my back so people often chatted as they went past. Two girls from my tutor group had finished and waited to cheer as I went past and so did ED, MD, son, SIL2b, hubby and my YD finished and ran back to find me and walk the finish with me. That was the high bit. Tonight my feet arggh!!! They are killing me, can hardly bear to walk on them despite soaking them and trying to keep them up in the air. I guess the muscle pain will come in tomorrow.I am not sure I have ever walked that far before and not sure if I will again lol. Rather took the edge off Fathers Day unfortunately but hubby was pleased to receive 5 cards (a special Grandad one too)and 4 parcels to unwrap. We let him off clearing up after dinner this evening too and he spent hours watching the grand prix. Angie are you able to get out for walks or are you still waiting for everything to settle down. Have you been able to give dex the boot yet? Hoping things are manageable for you x.
Love
Lily x

Congrats Lily and well done x

Hi Ladies
Sorry I missed all the posts this weekend.
Firstly Lisa - I know what you must be feeling right now - terrified. I’m also crossing fingers and toes to wish you luck today. The waiting is always the worst bit as your mind plays such tricks on you. Hope everything goes well today but, as Lily says, ask all the questions you need whatever they tell you.
Lily - well done. I expect you will ache today but it would have been so worth it. It is so emotional the atmosphere at R 4 L - that’s partly why I don’t want to do it again! Hope OH had a lovely day even if Jenson didn’t win. My OH did just that - watched tv then went on a bike ride then had a lovely meal cooked by his darling wife. Plus he got out of the washing up (yep, dishwasher broken again). We had both sets of parents round on Saturday eve for a BBQ for Fathers Day so he didn’t get out of the chores after that one!
Bev - didn’t realise Ascot was such a p*ssup! Ruins it doesn’t it? No wonder they have been trying to set new standards this year. HOpe it was a good day out though and you had a flutter on the GG’s
Lorraine - the party sounds fantastic - well done you! What’s the theme for next years and when do we get our invites? LOL Hope you can relax now as you’ve put so much effort into this but I bet it was worth it.
Must dash now, repair man due AGAIN this morning so need to get dressed.
Love to all but especially big hugs to LIsa and really really hope there’s nothing to worry about.
Nicky xx

YYIPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE clear!!! Apologised for scaring me, who cares, happy days xxx

lisaf
wayahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! wonderful news, so gladx

Faaaaaaaantastic! So so happy for you - get on with everything now and by the way you’ve not told us about Take That - I think you had something else on your mind?
Nicky xxx

Take That was fantastic, Ive always liked them but never besotted but it was by far the best concert Ive ever been too, there was sooo much effort put in by them and the entertainment and staging was fabulous - got the concert bug I think!!!

Well not putting me down today, managed to get approval to take on my little trainnee who is 18 rather than him going ondole, only an apprenticship but he was chuffed to bits and its triple what he currently gets, and means I get some help!!

Hospital again tomorrow for lymphodema clinic, I have been naughty and havent wore it as much but feels much better without it.

Soooo. mind back on track so I can read all your posts properly, soz if havent been with it x

Hi,
so I guess hopping 5 km with my fingers and legs crossed for you did the trick Lisa.LOL. Brilliant news and hang on to that aren’t I a lucky girl feeling and stop worrying for a bit x.So pleased.
I have sore feet but no aches. It might be because I took a few of my anti inflammatory tablets last night. Told the other staff today and they all started sponsoring me after the event so my fund is going up still. Tonight we had visitors from the US so been out to dinner all evening. Might have to sleep with 4 pillows as feeling very full still and still get reflux if push it too late at night.
What a nice day it turned out to be
Lily x

Glad you had a nice day Lily, deserve it and thanks for thinking of me, I would rub your feet if I was there (not, hate feet) but thought there!!!
xx

Just a quick note

Such Great!!! news Lisa so pleased for you what a relief.

Well done Lily!

Be in touch soon

hi girlies

what a beautiful day its been, decided i was not going to rush about today, and stay in and do jobs that are piling up. i was up about 8.30, whilst waiting for brekky, which i have 2 hrs after tabs, i started on my hanging baskets outside,in fact i was still in my dressing gown. hubby warned me, i ought to get dressed, because i would b carted off to the loony bin, it didnt look quite right he said doing the gardening in my mr blobby housecoat, its pink with all colour spots on, so i thought he might be wise and went and got dressed.
i dont really worry about what anyone thinks anymore, but he does.
bless him.
then my sister came and dragged me out visiting other sis who’s still going through chemo(tablet form)
glad we went though, i think she needed company, and even managed to get her to come back with me, and sit in garden.

so only just got jobs done, but i can enjoy day out tommorow, now i know there done.(plenty more to do, but who’s worrying)

take care , hope your all enjoying the sun rays.

x

Just wanted to say to Lily “wow” big pat on the back, what a go-er. Hope the sore feet don’t take too long to ease, you must be so proud of yourself. I couldn’t run at the moment, so I take my hat off to you.

Lisa thank goodness your news was good, fantastic.

Hope everyone else is doing great, are you all enjoying sunny weather? It’s been 32 degrees here today, bit hot to do anything.

All the veggies are growing nicely, I seem to have the slugs and snails under control so they’re not eating too much. We have picked our first cucumber. I am so looking forward to tasting the sweetcorn when it grows (if it grows, fingers x).

It’s like a quarry here at the moment, we’ve had a digger in making a trench to bury all the electric/phone and water cables and we’ve just finished painting our bedroom, the first room of the house to be done. Nearly there and hopefully not too much longer.

Off for an early night now, as have an early start tomorrow

nighty nighty all

Px

Hi,
Lisa the nice day was because of your news :). I don’t think anyone would have ventured near my feet after the race lol. I am pleased to say they are feeling normal again now. Lorraine I think I love your eccentricity a lot more than Victor does you know. You go for it. I had a chuckle as us page 3 girls who are permanently expected to get them out at every appointment, wouldn’t bat an eyelid at things like that. If men had children?? what a thought.
Peacock, thank you but I have to put you right I walked it - totally unable to run too x. Any chance you can turn the quarry into a swimming pool? So much more fun but glad to hear the house is progressing. Don’t know how you can go to bed so early as I am an insomniac. Enjoy the sun x.
Well my concerns about reflux were well founded and I have a really yukky throat after waking 6 times to acid trying to escape out my mouth, my nose, anywhere it shouldn’t be yuk. Spent a few hours with enough pillows to make me vertical almost. Next I had the shivers all night, absolutely frozen and woke every half hour it seemed. Then woke at 5.30 boiling hot and when I got up later my face was bright red. When I developed aching legs I have to confess I went and read the swine fever leaflet to see if I could have got anything that quick from my US guests. They had been in Florida buying a new home.Lol. Hubby reckons they must have accidentally got me with prawns in the restaurant as I cannot go near them.Anyway fine now apart from having a weird elbow after a violent act by a student when my elbow was wacked by a door, which hit my funnybone. He is now doing time at home!
Oink oink
Lily x

oink oink there!! Weel nothing every simple, good day bad day, went about my arm today, was 13% bigger when went, well now 26% bigger nd cos I mentioned swollen wirst have a not nice sleeve that goes from shoulder to thumb end and nuckles, not going near a gloove but sooo pissed off about it, dont car what they say it doesnt make my arm more comfie, unfomfie and bliss without it but ehy how
 nite all xxx

hi Girlies,

Sorry to hear about the arm Lisa what a bloody nusience (I am sure you will be thinking stronger language would be more appropriate!) I still have trouble with my arm but thankfully at the present time my hand will swell if I overdo the gardening etc but will then go back down again. I have days when the arm feels heavy and have an uncomfortable full feeling under my arm but some days are worse than others but it really is horrible being constantly reminded itsn’t it.

Well even if the the weather has been lovely I have been feeling really awful I must be coming out in sympathy with you Lily. (hope you are feeling better as it sounds horrible have you tried Zanprol tablets for acid reflux I used these during the chemo days and they really helped) I think I must have picked up a bug from somewhere (probably Ascot!) but I have had a raging sore throat, headache, general aches and pains and feeling absolutely poleaxed again no energy at at. Thank goodness I don’t need to go into work until tomorrow so hoping I will feel better by then. Whenever my poor old mum (82) comes to stay for a few days and I intend to take her out I end up being ill. It really freaks me out now when I don’t feel well as I just can’t bear being back in that place again does anyone else find that now?

Hope you are all enjoying the good weather (at long last)

love Bev x

Hi Lily, well even walking that distance is a feat in itself, so well done. Sorry that you had a few uncomfortable hours with reflux, I still have to keep a gaviscon sachet by the bed just in case. Violent student - uhm, don’t like the sound of that one.

Lisa how horrible for you especially with hot weather (in UK at the moment???) it must be unbearably hot and so uncomfortable.

Sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather Bevy, there must be something going around - is it in the water? LOL

Our German exchange student went back today, hence my early start she had to be at the school for 06.45. Glad to have the place back to ourselves. Weather has been 32 deg, so hot, I spent 2 hours planting cauli’s and cabbages, it takes me so long because the ground is so hard and full of rocks. C’est la vie. I don’t actually go to sleep early Lily, I usually watch TV or play on the pooter, and finally feel tired about 1 am. I am restless all night, especially as I’ve been getting bloomin cramp in my legs, its so painful - has anyone else had this? Just wondered if its another SE from chemo?

To all the other girlies, hi, hope all is as well as can be and you are enjoying warm weather.

P xx

Hi P yes I too kept getting cramp in my feet and my calf muscles which is horrible as you well know. I have been taking vitamins and mineral drops (advised by the Haven Trust in London) and since I have been taking these the cramp has disappeared so it may well be due to a deficiency after the chemo so may be worth investigating a bit. I was intrigued to read about all your gardening work as I am too scared to do too much digging (although I would love to) as I am frightened it may kick off lymphodema what advice have you been given on this? I would really like to be doing more in my garden than I am at present. I went to Merriments Gardens today and it was so lovely to be in such a well ordered and colourful garden. I felt I needed to take my poor mum out after looking after me (yet again) for a few days.

Lily hope you can get the reflux under control and keep away from unruly students little horrors. I worked with special needs youngsters for 13 years and know some of them can be very challenging.

Hi to Lisa, Nicky, Lorraine et al! and a big hug to Angie xxxx

Hi,
sorry to hear about your arm Lis. Now if it could be a 26% wage increase instead that would be much better news. I think you need to read FBs posts on lymphoedema as she wrote some good posts with exercises to do to help. In our area you can go for manual lymph drainage , which is nicer than it sounds! You could ask about it in your area. I had an interview about my ‘disability’ and they were surprised to hear about the danger of lymph, I don’t think anyone else has heard of it. Bev sorry to hear you caught oink oink flu too.I am fortunate to not have an aching arm but i don’t do any gardening at all as i feel writing on the board all day is enough of a challenge for my arm these days.Hope yours continues to allow you to do most of what you want. I trotted downstairs for a ranitidine tablet for the reflux and the box was empty. Who on earth would take the last ones? Yes I get really pood off when I am ill. If I get a cough it drives me mad, no patience with illness any more. just don’t want to waste another day. Hope the cold is improving.
Peacock, sprechen sie Deutsch? Cramps yes I wake up so often with it that i now find my feet forced into a toe pointing up position to straighten the muscle every morning before I am fully awake. Are you still having check ups? Hi Angie, Nicky et al x.
I feel fine today. It all drifted away nicely without any more tablets, so back to just the hothouse nolvadex! Hooray holiday fast approaching and boo hoo left it too late to turn into the svelte person I imagine is waiting round the corner to appear when i put my mind to a diet.LOL!!! So it is bigger cossies and big floaty wraps and jump in the sea quick for me.
Big Lily x

Hi everyone
What lovely weather we’ve been having. Where are you Peacock as you are obviously in far hotter climes that us? I made the decision a week or so ago to have a well earned week off from work and it looks like I chose a good one. I really needed some down time just to catch up at home, sort YD out before she goes on hols and generally be around as she’s now finished all her A level exams - hooray. The challenge today is to get her to move all her books, folders etc out of the lounge! She’s off with about 30 mates to Bulgaria and Friday - God Forbid! So am making sure she takes all the necessary things that teenagers wouldn’t think of but Mums do.
Hope everyone else is doing OK - Lisa - hope the arm improves - maybe get to a special clinic if you don’t go already for exercises etc as Lily said.
Bev - hope you are feeling better after the lurgy got you! I’m not sure if you had lymph removal or a few taken but when I had my 1st op I had a sample taken. I forgot about all the lymphodoema (sp?) stuff and carried on as normal (except for blood tests etc) and haven’t had a problem. If it’s infection you’re worried about - which is the main cause if you’ve not had them all removed then a thick pair of gardening gloves may do the trick.
Lily - what are you like - always getting in scraps with the bigger kids LOL Hope the elbow improves quickly - you don’t need any more things to get you down. Bet you’re counting the days until the end of term, I know one of my friends does. The a lovely long break which you can enjoy this year.
Angie - hope you are OK and taking it easy on yourself.
Well, sun isn’t shining today so no sitting in the garden doing absolutely nothing for me then! Off to the opticians for the appointment I thought was yesterday, turned up and, wrong, it’s today!
Have a good one
Nicky xx
