Darling buddies from May - moving on

Thanks all, im not stressing anymore, will see my nurse on friday and thinking of putting complaint it - heard today from someone that he does private work and her friend just come round and he came in her private room still in gown and aksed for the £5k for the recon as she went private - bet he doesnt complain about those patients and has time to talk to them!!

Anyhow my garden coming on - im actually excited, its looking lovely!!!

Hows everyone doing - any goss??

Angie hope you still reading and bearing up xx

Hi,
been out to dinner tonight with hubbies relatives. The lady was 89 and away from home so we tried to make up for it. I am really full so need to sit up for a bit longer. I had lasagne, fries, followed by toffee cheesecake with ice cream and I am popping. Tomorrow I have the second school prom and another big meal. Did I tell you i found a Jasper Conran dress that FITS YAHOOO!! It is black with grey/green leaf like swirls on and a big slash down the front so won’t be leaning over lol. I am now officially on an undiet, there is no point even thinking about being thin before i go on holiday so I am embracing it and giving up for now.
Good luck on Friday Lisa and write things down before you go in case you forget. Do you really want to be unconcious with that bloke in charge of your op? Ask the BCN who she would go to as she must see plenty of boob recons, good and bad
hugs everyone reading

wow Lily meal and future one sounds fab!!! My diet out of window too as dad’s 60th and going for really plush meal and stuffed them all week, however I have a jasper conran dress, multi coloured linen for a wedding in 3 weeks, havent wore a dress for ages, only time is bridesmaid, aunty has but insert in but tad tight now - so diet here I come next week, bowt 7lb in to week needed.

Yippeee, tomorrow last day at work, hols and hospital on fri and then off to Durham Sunday for James Morrison with my friend - happy days xx

Hi everyone
Lisa - glad you’re not so p*ssed off now! May be better not to be seeing red when you see your BCN so you can ask all the right questions without exploding LOL. Hope that goes OK and you get some good answers and a way forward with your recon. Lucky you to have some days off - it’s so nice to have a few treats and you seem to be packing them in - good for you and a HB for Dad  Can my eldest come with you to James M? Hope the short diet goes well so you look glam in your dress. Also garden sounds great - can we have a photo when it’s done?
Lily - how did I know you’d manage a cheesecake? Even if all around you failed ha ha. Glad you’ve got a dress so that you also feel and look glam at the prom. Can’t be many days left of the term now can there? I lose touch as we’re on ‘exam’ time so finished ages ago. I only really notice when the traffic gets less and my walk in the mornings to get the paper becomes less risky as all the littlies on scooters stop whizzing past me on my way back!
I’m feeling much better thank goodness. I had a really bad week or 2 which I put down to the bisphos tablets as they were the side effects listed. For some reason they all seem to have got better with or without cutting out dairy. I was so uncomfortable that it did get down to me wanting an IV once a month again even if it meant a silly game of hunt the vein. At least that would have only been 2 bits of discomfort! Other than that only other news is that ED has managed to get a job on a film! She will be working as a trainee in the special effects area which she really wants to do and it fits in just right with her starting college in Sept/Oct. Great experience for her and it’s one of her favourite SFX guys who she’ll work with. If and when I can give more details I will but it has some big names in it! Only problem is she most likely won’t be able to come away with us in August :frowning: Just need to check this out though. Also, sorry about the meet up, I really can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel until both D’s are sorted out in Sept or Oct. Just one of those full on times that we have to get through. However October half term is looking clear!
Hi to everyone else on here, Lorraine, Julia, Angie, Bev, Peacock, hope you are all doing well.
Love to all
Nicky x

Oh Lisa it sounds as if you really have had an awful experience bloody cheek of the man you should complain about him not only for yourself but for other women too. He should learn some compassion. I really hope you can sort it out with another surgeon. So glad your garden is coming along nicely though. We will need a pic! Good luck tomorrow with the BC Nurse and I hope she gives you positive advice.

Nicky glad to hear you are feeling a bit better now and how exciting for your daughter sounds like a wonderful opportunity.

Lily your new dress sounds very smart! and daring with a big slash down the front!! you hussy

I am off to Marlborough Jazz Festival tomorrow for the weekend with friends which I am really looking forward to. They all went last year but obviously we didn’t join them so it will be good to back in the swing of things again. It is an exhausting weekend but great fun. I will report back next week.

Love to you all and have a good weekend.

bevvy

hi all

Wow nicky, your daughters job sounds potentially fab!!!

hope everyone bearing up - will update on news from BCN tomorrow!

Enjoy jazz festical sounds fab bev

Happy friday all!!!

Hi,
Lisa how did you get on with the BCN? Hope she had some helpful advice for you. Lets face it she couldn’t be any worse! Concert sounds fab. You make me feel tired just thinking about doing all of that. Have a lovely time
Well I was quite pleased with the dress and people seemed to like and then!!! My friend knocked a large glass of iced water all over me and I spent the next 10 minutes under the hot air hand drier. I had a great time though and I am walking very carefully today after overdoing a few moves on the dance floor. Fab dinner too with an out of this world hand made cheesecake which was so rich I could hardly finish it and so yummy I couldn’t stop myself.Hope I danced some of it off lol.
Nicky yes another cheesecake day. Might write a book about them seeing as I am becoming an expert.Sounds like a great opportunity for ED as it is a tough business to get into.Shame about the holiday. Can you take a friend for YD instead? I finish work next Friday until September yahoo.I did not realise you were struggling with the tablets. Must be bad to make you reconsider the vein diggers! Hope it continues to improve now :)Meet up can be whenever we can all manage, something to look forward to. It will have to fit round Lisa’s next treatment. Bev have a great toe tapping time at the concert. I love live music of most sorts even though more recently I was over doing grease lightning and Michael Jackson moves!!!Lorraine, good to hear from you but poo to your problems. Is that normal for side effects to suddenly start after all this time? Just wondering if you could have a bug or something else. Hoping it will improve very soon. Is it worth trying a very bland diet to settle it?
By the way we have oink oink in school and have to just ignore it and carry on. What do you think? Are you concerned at all? I was a bit anxious and tried to find out if I had had a direct contact and the beast of a bloke was just grinning and making out I was trying to get off work! never even occurred to me. Just thought I would speak to GP if a kid in my class.
Have fun. I have a busy weekend again
Lily x

Hi Lily
You’d love the cheesecake I’ve made  I know the words ‘cheese’ and ‘cake’ in the same recipe means you’d love it anyway but it’s a really good recipe from Jamie Oliver. We’re off to one of my closest friend’s today to celebrate her ‘boys’ being 21, 18 and 16 all in the same year and I’m taking a pud to the party. The cc is so substantial that I know it will travel well lol ED is so looking forward to it she’s already said she’s not going to eat to much tonight when we get back from the lunchtime ‘do’! We’re still checking out options for Florida, Virgin unfortunately don’t allow name changes so we had blown that one out of the water. However it sounds like ED can take some time off so we’re working around getting her home a bit before us so she’s not off for too long. She had her 1st day helping out to clean the workshop - a nice reality check! That, plus a 3 hour drive there, nearly did her in. But a nice meal at home and a chat with us did the trick and she’s raring to go on Monday. Main project starts in about 10 days but they’ve got one of the actors coming in on Monday for some ‘lifecasting’ so that should be more exciting than clearing stuff up! Glad the prom went well and at least it was only water that got split - just imagine if it has been red wine? (as happened to me once!) Talking of Michael Jackson, we had got tickets as we’ve grown up with listening to him and despite all the allegations we wanted to see him perform live - or hope that it was him performing live! Now just chasing the refund rather than the ‘collectors’ ticket they’ve been offering.
Lisa - hope all went well with BCN and you know what the next stage is.
Bev - have a great weekend and hope the sun shines.
Lorraine - the curse of the trapped wind! As I said, mine seems to have calmed down after a really awful week or so, so I hope yours does. There didn’t seem to be anything in particular that started it and also nothing that stopped it. Also, remember the bisphos are only strengthening our bones not treating our BC so if a scan shows all is well and solid enough I’m sure you could have a break - excuse the pun LOL. Hope you’re feeling more comfortable though and it goes away of it’s own accord.
Angie, Julia, Peacock and anyone else on here have a good weekend.
Nicky x

hi girls

hope you all have a good weekend, plenty of fun and laughter.
brought some more plants for garden today, but must stop spending soon. bank balance not too healthy. got to go and empty a cupboard been waiting about 12 months to get it repaired (and thats not joking) x

Hi,
quite a busy weekend with 2 parties on Saturday. ohh why do I have nothing and then 2 on the same day? One was a work do through the afternoon and then had half an hour before a 50th party in a field in the rain! The work do was nice and the food was yum, dare I tell you they had another homemade cheesecake. Even I will get fed up of the bloomin things soon lol. Came home and felt terrible so had to have a sleep before next party and all the symptoms vanished weird. Party was nice but couldn’t touch the meat, made me feel sick looking at it so was FORCED to settle on meringues and strawberries. Today the Americans were back along with the Australians and nearly had 15 for Sunday roast but 3 disappeared last minute. I am a bit cross with hubby as he just sat there chatting and left me to do 99.9 % of everything. They were all very complimentary and I just hid my annoyance but I was really tired and so hot. This is the 5th weekend of them to dinner and what did he do for an encore? Only invited some back on Tuesday so now need to do shopping and another meal straight after work! Might give him a good kick when I get in bed and say my leg jumped ha ha!!
Lisa how did your appointment with the BCn go? Nicky well good job you aren’t near enough for me to have an excuse to pop in and test your cheesecake too.Did you have a good time? I have been recordinf the MJ video programmes on skyplus so I can listen to them and watch the videos. You forget how many great songs he had don’t you? Lorraine I have been buying a lot of plants from supermarkets and even got azaleas for £1.69, real bargain. Hope they grow lol.
Take care

Hi all
the party we went to on Saturday lunchtime was really nice, not too busy and we even got to sit outside despite all the rain happening along the route. I met my friend at college when we were doing an HNC and what with her and another friend (male) there we had a bit of reminiscing! We could believe our ‘kids’ were now older than we all were when we 1st met. As the chap said ‘way back then we thought 50 was old and we all knew everything at 18 - how wrong we were’! My girls get on really well with my friends 3 ‘boys’ so they didn’t feel out of place amongst all the young men - why did no-one have baby girls in those days? LOL We came back and had a relaxing but wet walk to our local pub to meet with some friends who we are going to south Wales with next weekend. Looking forward to that as it will just be a walking, doing nothing in particular break and even better won’t involve children. Sunday was also relaxing but also trying to sort out what we do about our holiday. It sounds like ED will be able to get some time off from her job but we may need to change her ticket so she comes back a day or 2 earlier.
I’m sorry you have had so many visitors over the past few weekends Lily - Victor definitely needs a kick somewhere! I really don’t feel I could cook for that many right now, no reason, just laziness, let alone doing it several Sunday’s on the trot. It’s all the clearing up that gets me, not the preparation - which still takes time. Plus it gets damn expensive cooking for that many - you must be owed a really expensive anniversary present now!
Well, I’m off to work soon, only a half day today which is good. Hoping that ED has a better day at the ‘office’ than Friday and that her travel times have been reduced - we’ve told her to take a different route which may or may not work out.
Hope everyone else had a good weekend, however back to the grindstone for some of use today.
Take care
Nicky x

hi all all this cheese cake talk is making me want one!!! Had a lovely meal in fab restuarant on Saturday and I wanted the special almond and praline cheesecake - booo hoo had none left!!!

had a nice time in durham yesterday but wiped out today 3 days on trot, exhausted so diet tomorrow and takie it easy!!!

Sounds like everyone had a good weekend!!!

BCN said the waiting list in my county is 14 mths but newcastle about 6 months and only refer to their but the nurse is the plastic surgeon I met nurse so no further on really!

Off to lie on sofa… nite all x

hi everyone,

really nice day at york today, we went to Betty’s tearooms, £15.99 my hubby paid for his cream tea, which consisted of little posh cucumber, and ham sandwiches, and scone, clotted cream, andminiature cakes. i was a good girl(well nearly) i had a pistachio tartlet, i tried to nick some of his scone, but he said it was toooo nice, and he was thoroughly enjoying it, cos hes been on the atkins diet, and was having a day off. i can remember a time he would have give it me( im lying i cant really!)

any of you working in schools, i hope your all looking forward to holidays.
take care all, god bless x

Hi,
funny how I realised that apart from a hand down the shirt regularly (will I ever stop doing that? Really scared I will do it in class one day lol) I have totally changed my focus on BC. Not sure whether it is the stretching out of appointments or me moving along a little. I didn’t think I would get to this point. Anyway my ‘little bit of peace’ seems to have been shattered by pig flu. Thought to myself be sensible, don’t want to look like a paranoid hypochondriac. So I checked it out with my GP, while there to ask about holiday jabs and get more tablets. He said shouldn’t be a problem, just see how you are if you get it - fair enough. Then we had cases at school, which mildly ruffled my calm and now I have had a direct contact from the do on Saturday, although it was mostly outside which should limit it. Then had a call to say I need billions of injections (oh ok not quite billions) so now I need injections as it is short notice but it would be a problem if I was about to go oink. Not sure where I am going with this one? How are the rest of you getting on with it?
Lisa that is a long wait. Why don’t you consider travelling further to a specialist recon unit. Sorry about the cheesecake I would have been gutted too :frowning:
Lorraine I see I have got you going with food too and greedy old Victor!!! How long before you see the doc about whetehr to stop the tablets? Must write a large note to pack mine.
Nicky hope you have a lovely break in Wales.the catch up party sounded like fun even if it did make you all feel ancient lol. I don’t mind age at all now. If someone teases me about approaching 50 I just say i will be jolly glad to reach it. Rather flattens the conversation though!!I got Victor by turning the cold fan on full blast and he leapt in the air and buried himself in duvet, while I was shaking with laughter as I was HOT! Made him take me shopping for foor tonight so that should deter him a bit as he hates shopping. Hope work is ok, you usually say you enjoy it. Know what you mean, going back is a drag until you get there.
Hugs everyone
Lily x x

Hi All,

Had a great weekend at the Jazz Festival and had a really good bop about (drunk and disorderly!) ate loads of nice food (no cheesecake though pity as it is my personal favourite!) came back to friends staying for a few days so life is fairly busy what with work and entertaining I will be cooking for 10 a couple of evenings aghhhhh! As you say Lily it is clearing up that is the real pain and should certainly be done by someone else such as hubby!

Not sure what to think about the oink oink flu. I work with joe public and that is one of the reasons my onc wouldn’t let me return to work whilst on chemo (although quite frankly I don’t think I could have done anyway as I felt so damn awful all the time) I guess we may be offered the vaccine on a priority basis but maybe not?

Lisa sorry you have to wait such a long time that just seems so unfair.

Nicky sounds as if you have been having fun too and hope you can sort out the travel plans.

Love to you all and have a good week

Bev x

Hi,
got the sniffs eek. Too mild to be anything dodgy but not sure about my injections tomorrow. Every time someone sneezes at school a big ooohhh runs round the room and everyone looks to see if it has been ably caught in a tissue and then what will will they do with aforesaid tissue after the sneeze?? It is like dial M for murder lol.
Well another meal over and not too much work as bought cooked chicken breasts(how expensive are they?) and had new pots and salad, then bought lemon tarte with strawberries and thick cream. All seemed happy and not much work at all for me  I am going out to dinner tomorroew   at last!!!
Bev glad you had a good time and thank you so much for taking over the catering!! I will retire from the kitchen, I hope.
Hooray 2 1/2 days left at work and then throwing the alarm clock away
lily x x

Hi all
Bev - were you looking as grungy as everyone who usually goes to festivals? Any mud bathing? LOL I really hate the idea of camping (not sure if you did this) at festivals - all those problems with the loos - yuk! However there was a lovely yurk (sp?) all set up and glamourous at Glastonbury that looked like MY type of camping. It’s the looking awful the next morning pre-makeup etc and the trips to the loos and shared ‘facilities’ that I don’t like. Glad you enjoyed it though and got to go this year after such a horrible summer last year.
Lily - I expect you are nearly cheering, how nice to have 6 weeks off and be well for it - sniffles and oink oink aside. Hope the last of the mass catering is finished and you enjoy your meal out. I think our schools don’t break up for another week, by which time I think one of my close friends - a teacher - will also have broken up mentally as well as physically. She has little brats in her class of primary kids and there’s so little teachers can now do to reprimand them. There’s a lot to be said for the discipline we used to get.
Lisa and Lorraine - hope you are both OK? Any further news on the recon or is it driving you mad having to chase around the medical profession again? Does my head in!
I’m off today for the joyous job of sorting YD’s bedroom prior to her leaving here for uni in September - just get the dust masks on! May manage a pub lunch though to spur us on. ED has started her work in the special FX workshop but only a few days atm until the budget is approved and she knows that she can be paid! The journey keeps getting to her however it is for a short time only, not as if it’s a permanent job, and the opportunity is incredible for her CV. Why do all the youngsters want it handed to them on a plate? We’ve sorted our hols and are still going to Florida after a lot of checking things out. ED will come home a couple of days before us so she’s not off the work side of things for too long. We (OH and I) have a few days away next week with friends and then the following weekend off to see the MotoGP at Donington. Not exactly my kettle of fish but I had promised OH that I would get tickets this year as his birthday present for last year. I was thinking more of Portugal or Spain maybe but Derby it is
Hi to everyone else I’ve failed to mention. Have a good day
Nicky xx

Hi Nicky,

No I certainly don’t do camping tried it once that was enough. We stayed in a pub B&B where the food was fantastic so it was a very civilised festival, far too old to do mud and campsites. Glad to hear your florida trip is going to plan now when are you off? You will have a fabulous time there. It was years ago we went but we loved it are you doing the disney park?

Lily lucky you, I do remember the joy at the end of term knowing 6 weeks of not having to look at your watch. I should have stayed with it really but just decided after 13 years of special needs support I needed a break from it and have our holidays at cheaper times. I do miss the kids though. Certainly hope you manage to escape any of the bugs going around.

Love to all and catch up again soon.

Bev x

Hi all ladies

Well sorry I haven’t been on lately, just been busy getting on with the house while OH is home - I’ve been oiling the wooden floor today so, good exercise for my at risk arm I think (?) then OH had the cheek to moan that his boot print was noticeable! I nearly threw the tin at him. It’s looking really good and hopefully, after a trip to Ikea on Friday (I’ve got the hospital for Herceptin & the hospital is virtually next door) we will be in our bedroom by saturday evening. Mind you, no toilet or water connected yet so it will be a “pee bucket” for a while, just hope my funny tummy holds up at night LOL.

Sorry to hear about the oink oink flu risk, our son’s housemate has recently had it diagnosed and our son has been advised to get some tamiflu just in case, it must be a real scare for you ladies. Here in France we are so rural that I haven’t really given it a thought, but it is worrying. My sister won’t visit here just in case, she lives in London. Is it more risky for recently treated cancer people?

Yesterday was Bastille Day, a big celebration for the French with lots of fireworks, I was too tired to enjoy though so we didn’t go to any functions.

The garden is doing well, picking off quite a few caterpillars every day from the green veg, little uggers, and picking 6 or 7 cucumbers every day, even the guinea pig has had enough now! I’m researching for a cucumber chutney recipe. Tomatoes are STILL green, despite our temperatures of nearly 40 deg for 4 weeks. Still trying to swim every day, but the pool has turned a bit greeny coloured now, so had to buy some product to clear it.

Well take care all, have a great week and happy holidays to all those going off on one.

Love P xx
