Hi ladies
I see that Lily has flown the nest for a few weeks - lucky her, but I’ll be on my way in a couple of weeks which we’re all looking forward to. OH and I have just got back from watching the MotoGP at Donnington. A bit wet yesterday but it made for some exciting racing and a few fallers - luckily no-one was hurt, other than their pride!
Hope everyone is doing well and not too down with the weather (Lorraine), it’s due to pick up again, which would be nice especially for all the school kids who now have to be entertained during the holidays.
I’m due a bumper crop of tomatoes soon so will need to use them in everything, along with a few herbs maybe. I planted some called 100’s and 1000’s and there definitely will be hundreds! All little ones which will save money instead of buying them at the supermarket.
Well done for your family doing the Race for Life, Lorraine, a really good cause, as we all know. You should have celebrated with a cake The chocolate one that Bev’s friend made sound’s just the ticket. I’d also seen/heard about the recipe which isn’t so odd when you think of carrot cake. A belated HB to you too Bev. A lovely walk by the sea - just what the Dr ordered. We went to Eastbourne last year during my chemo and it was so lovely to sit there and breathe in all the fresh salty air. We also had fish and chips by the pier which was the best I’d ever had
Anyway, must dash as have all my washing to do, sorry if I have forgotten anyone. And also, if I haven’t missed it, can someone PM me details of Angie’s funeral? I really want to spend some time reflecting but don’t know the details, if I have missed it I’ll set aside some time anyway.
Love to you all, look after yourselves
Nicky
ps - Peacock - don’t relish your hot days, my YD is in Spain atm with temp of over 40 - ouch. Hope you can cool off.

hi there
if anyone still about, everyone seems to be going on hols, or just busy living life to the full. im so shattered today been catching up on some housework and got a bit carried away now im soooooooooo tired. weve got a leather suite bright red and just noticed what a sorry state its in, so trying to give it a clean, did about half hour and gave up for another day, i think i will do it in batches.why is it somedays you just notice all the jobs youve left for ages?
at least now we know when angies funeral is we can be still and pay our last respects to a lovely young lady.
hope everyone else isnt wearing themselves out, i must be mad!
x
Hi Lisa, thanks for letting us know re Angie’s funeral I will certainly be thinking of her tomorrow.
Lorraine I hope the weather picks up for you when you go to Bournemouth I just love that stretch of coastline. Dorset is my favourite county with Lyme Regis being the tops. Take it easy if you are feeling very tired or maybe you need some supplements. I have been taking vit pills recommended by the Haven Trust and liquid Zinc which has really perked me up and my energy levels are much better but when I am tired I do try to rest now whereas before I would have carried on.
Well Lily is on her hols now luck girl hope she is having a super time.
Well done Nicky with your Toms I am still waiting for mine I don’t think we have had enough sun.
take care everyone and be in touch soon.
Bev x
hi everyone
bevvy
i too love dorset, well in the sun anyway, but a breaks a break so i will make most of it if weather stays wet. maybe ill have to buy some wellies though. im feeling lots of niggly pains at moment, in other boob, and in scar, and my thumb as played me up for a week now, i woke up one morning and it was stiff and had clicked i clicked it back but it aint right. probably side effect of tamoxifen, most things normally are. but i do feel little concerned, still waiting for scan appointment. i may try some vits see what they can do, but i am eating a lot better at moment. so shouldnt be short of vitamins but it cant hurt.
nicky hope you looking after the toms, i bet your even talking to them. ha ha.
take care all x
hi all
Well no rain for a change today!! I know what you mean about niggles, my arm feelsbigger and the flap round my scar feels chunkier as well as my middle has majorly spread and bras are really unfomfie. Hopefully its just niggles, Im driving my parents bonkers coplaining every day but wont go to docs as too scared and then deep down hoping its just my mind with angie and everything but just so scared that your life an change with a niggle - sorry girls, twine over.
Hope Lily is having a lovely hols and I think the site will be quiet this weekend with all these holiday makers - im just off to liverpool for 1 night and god-mother for someone in my husbands family which is a bit strange as havent seen some of them for ages.
Here’s to a bright day for Angie’s funeral tomorrow and we can all live our lives as she would want us too, im really gonna try by not worrying too much!!

Hi everyone
What awful weather! The sun is here atm but not sure if it will last. I’ve quickly hung out the sheets to dry as I hate them in the house and hate using the tumble dryer as well. I’ve been feeling rough the past few days with either a summer cold or a mild dose of oink oink, who knows? Feeling a bit better today so, with any luck we’ll still be able to go away next week! I think the weather will put paid to all the red tomatoes I’m hoping for, just loads of green ones again! Or lots of green tomato chutney (again!)
Lorraine - enjoy your break, whatever the weather. If you take wet weather stuff maybe the sun will shine the whole time - I hope so. Also that your aches etc go. I seem to have an ache for a while, panic like crazy, then it stops for some reason, so I hope yours do as well.
Lisa - same for you, see how things go, it’s amazing how our minds work overtime. Look after yourself and enjoy the christening. I hope seeing your husbands family isn’t too upsetting, even though you’ve met some of them since he died (I think).
Bev - hope you are keeping well, thanks for the tip about vitamins etc. I think we underestimate what we’ve been through and how chemo can affect us for a long time after.
I’m sure we’ll all be thinking of our lovely Angie today and I hope her funeral is a celebration of her life, how we all miss her, I can’t imagine how Tommy and her family must be feeling.
Love and hugs to all
Nicky x
hi everyone
lisaf
i know what you mean about complaining about aches and pains, i tell myself im not going to grumble, but sometimes you cant help it when your worried.i hope were all just having these niggles cos its what wed probably go through on the menapause, and the meds have chucked us into it early. hope you enjoy christening, and have treated yourself to new outfit. (any excuse i say).
nicky 08
poor thing, i hope you feel better soon. thats the thing with this swine flue, people cant tell if theyve had it or not. i was thinking though, glad it wasnt about when we our immune systems were low last year. hope you manage to get your break, and im determined im going to enjoy every moment of mine. bet lily is, wonder what shes tucking in to? sure she’ll tell us when she gets back.
everyone take care x
Thanks for that its thi bloody lymphodema too tying best ith sleeve and wearing nearly everyday 12 hours but its my arch emeny and never gonna grow to love it, think its doingmore damage than good, even making underrm andback ache!!
Twine over - spent some time thinkin o Angie tonight and hoping it all went well for tommy and her family, hopefully memories of all her tips will stay with us all!!! So regret not speaking the day when we thought we were sitting next to each other in waiting room.
Well off to Liverpool tomorrow with family and staying over, hopefully might get some fat clothes shopping in!!!LOL, so if not in touch hope eveyrone has a lovely weekend.
PS v jeleous of Lily rite now!!
Hi Girls,
I am almost relieved to read that you are feeling fragile too. I thought it was just me I seem to have lots of little bits and bobs bothering me. Such as ulcers in my mouth (why?) and a sore shoulder, aching arm and niggeling pains in my boob and underarm. Maybe it is the time scale after our treatment that these things are occuring that could be due to us all doing so much more than we were doing.
Lisa hope the lymphodema sleeve settles down and you can get relief from it. It is such a bugger that BC leaves that legacy so unfair for the constant reminder
Lorraine hope you are feeling a bit better now I think the medication we are all no plays a big part of our problems.
Nicky hope you are brighter now.
How strange that we are all feeling a bit sensitive and off colour at present. I hope our lovely lily is enjoying herself on her hols and no doubt she will have some stories when she gets back!
Take care everyone and have a good week.
love Bev x
Hope you don’t mind me posting on this thread - an avid follower but never posted - but I feel exactly the same Bev - shoulder pain, achy arm, feels like cording, but I thought you only got this post op not 18 months on, achy boob and armpit. Maybe it’s all normal and part of the healing process, but it does nothing for the anxiety levels. I think Tamoxifen has a lot to answer for in the aches and pains department, my brand has been changed recently to the one beginning with W and I definitely think the joints have been worse since I was changed from APS.
Jules
Hi ladies
I did a really long post at the end of last week and then it went and got lost somewhere in the system, so sorry about that.
I too envy Lily but hope she is having a fab time, getting lots of R & R.
Bev, Nicky, Jules, Lisa, Lorraine sorry to hear you are all feeling a bit off colour, maybe it is something to do with that time since finishing treatment and the body going through some changes/repair. I too have been feeling quite tired again, still on anti depressants but whereas at first they seemed to help I’m almost beginning to think they’re not now. Seen my GP today, she says the hospital are going to do a scan if this coughing and breathlessness doesn’t stop. I’ve also been given some tablets to try and control the persistent diarreah I have, which again could be a symptom/SE of Herceptin. As I am over 50 I get the invite to do a test to check for colon cancer, that’s going to be such fun (I don’t think) have any of you done it before?
How are you all getting on with your gardens? We have only just had some rain after 6 or so weeks without any, so it was a welcome relief not to have to water the plants/veggies for a day. I’ve started to pick melons now as well as cucumbers, and made some cucumber chutney the other day, it tastes ok but is a bit runny, any tips on how to thicken it up welcome? How are your tomatoes Nicky? I bet they taste wonderful, any luck with yours yet Bev?
Did anyone make it to Angie’s funeral? Hope the day went as well as can be for her family.
Lorraine,do you have a date yet for your scan? Lisa is your arm feeling any better? I can’t wear bras either, too uncomfortable, rubbing and squeezing, all for the sake of vanity - so I’ve been brave enough to venture out with one big booby swinging about and flat the other side - who cares, if anyone stares I’ll be tempted to ask “what are you looking at”, in French of course (when I’ve translated it on the internet - hee hee).
Well ladies, I think its time I caught up with “doctors”, I’ve got no TV in my bedroom for now so am watching any old c*** I can manage to download (don’t tell anyone though)!
Take care and hope you all start to pick up
xx
Hi all
Lucky Peacock to have some sun! It’s few and far between over in Blighty. My toms are still nicely green as I imagine they will stay until our next heatwave, hmmm, could be all year then!
My aches are just what I expect rather than anything extra, it’s when all the oestrogen gets stopped, so nothing that I hadn’t expected - but annoying all the same. My cold has just about stopped and didn’t develop into anything sinister however OH now has it. Far worse, as you can imagine, and a particularly bad form of Man Flu I’d say! Only prob is going away to USA on Friday could be a problem if he’s sniffling or worse. We’ll have to see. I’ve already checked out the insurance point of view and we all will be covered if we have to cancel. My 2 D’s will be so disappointed but there’s not much you can do is there? We’ll just have to book something else another time.
Other than this, nothing to report, all very boring!
Hope everyone else is coping with the bad weather and not letting it get them down or stop them doing things. Also that all the aches and pains are just in passing and will go away.
Peacock - I don’t think any of us got to Angie’s funeral. We all live quite a distance away from each other , but I think we all had a quiet moment on the day to remember her and her lovely wisdom and words.
Take care all.
Nicky x
Hi Girls,
well my toms too are still green like Nicky’s as we don’t have the benefit of as much sun as you Peacock and I am jealous! I have however had wonderful success with radishes and keep pulling them and planting more as they develop so quickly it is really pleasing. My other veggies though have been nibbled lots of little holes in the leaves of my rocket, lettuces and bean leaves. I think it is due to having my compost too close by and the little fruit flies that live in there come out and attack! not sure how I can deal with that as the compost is too big to move at the present time. Would covering it over be of any use? any ideas.
Regarding the uncomfortable experience of wearing bras I am fortunate that I did not have to have a full masectomy like some of you ladies but I often wear a crop top type bra that has nothing structured to it at all, it may not give as much support as a normal bra would do but doesn’t dig in anywhere either and hopefully would feel o.k. with just one boob, may be worth a try. I got mine from John Lewis so they may be on their website.
Jules I find that swimming really helps and that is where I am off to this morning. It just takes that aching away and makes the arm feel more normal again, even if it is for a short while it certainly helps so maybe worth trying depending on where you are in your treatment. Hope it improves. It is so difficult to get the balance right of using the arm enough without overdoing it really tricky.
Have a good week everyone!
Bev x

Hi everyone
I’ve not gone yet but have had a couple of busy days and we are leaving on a jet plane tomorrow - can’t wait. A few nervous moments with OH’s cold but that’s clearing up so we should get through the checks at the airport and I don’t expect he’s any more contagious than half the people there. We’re staying on the Disney resort as I’ve put my bonuses to good use and paid the differences on accommodation plus there was a very good offer on so we went for it! We’re all very excited as it will be a great (I hope) family holiday - especially after all the cr@p of last year and everything else we have to deal with. Also we should get away from this weather, even though it often rains in August in Orlando it tends to clear quickly and still stays hot.
Hope everyone is well, not too wet, not too uncomfortable and keeping their spirits up.
Will be in touch when I get back.
Nicky xx
