Darling buddies from May - moving on

hi everyone, old and new friends.
lisaf
glad you had a good break, do you stick to the excercises for lymphodema, i must admit im not too good at sticking to them. when i had manual drainage by massage it seemed to help, but not getting it at present. i think theyve given up because its not making a lot of difference. i didnt get a sleeve as my problem is more in the area above my bust and under the arm.

bevvy
love the rose. shame about your veg, its so frustrating when youve nurtured them from seed and then u lose them. im going to try and grow some next year, ive had a few more strawberries off my plants today.

nicky
have a great break. hope hubby improves.

just got back from a wonderful break in Bournemouth. we did a few shows, went pics, and did boat trip and lots and lots of walking. had lots of food but was still a bit careful. i got on the scales in one of the public conveniences and it was on 13 stone 4, i nearly died mine at home says 12 1/2, which is bad enough. i checked at home and mine still says 12 1/2 so i will weigh myself in boots sooner rather than later. its so frustrating i never sit still and am watching what i eat, its getting me down i feel so fat and bloated. along with all the other side effects. and sometimes find myself comparing myself to others, even though i know i shouldnt. hopefully that will pass and i will accept myself again.

take care everyone x

Hi All,

Soulgirl good luck with your mamo and sorry to hear the herceptin has been stopped. Will they be able to continue with it later?

Probably missed you Nicky but if not have a super holiday filled with fun and laughter!

Lorraine re the exercises I really believe they help but like all of you actually doing them is another matter that is why I tend to go swimming at least twice a week and that really helps to keep the arm in check although I still experience a lot of discomfort under the arm and around the back. Some days are more of a problem than others.

Lisa it is great to hear you are having fun in life keep it up!!

Charlie good luck with the mamo.

I too have booked a holiday hooray!! I am going back to Tenerife in Nov with two of my girlfriends (from school way back when) and we will be seeing a girlfriend who now lives out there. Hubby and I went there in January to escape after the treatment had finished. I am also off to Dorset in Sept for a week with Hubs so have some nice things to look forward to.

Have a lovely weekend.

love Bev x

hi everyone

great to hear your all making the most of your days. especially as the sun as come out again, but so have the hot flushes. erghhhhhhhhh.
anyone else been touchy, i can normally ignore my kids when they have a mood on them, but tonight i just started crying. and im also bit worried cause mets in spine is aching. At least family are treating me like its all over, but sometimes you just want them to give you a cuddle. but you dont want to ask cos you dont want them to know how your really feeling.
sorry to go on, told you i was feeling touchy.
everyone keep on enjoying life, thats what its all about. xxxx

Soz you are feeling down - im like that some days just want to cry. I also have achy arm and round the back which was starting to freak me out!

Rain is back today but had a lovely weekend at whitehaven festival, was lovely and nice to have something going on in our town, 80s concert this weekend so busy again!!!

I could get used to this!!!

Love to all on a wet monday morning

hi everyone

lisaf
thanks, im picking up again i think. dont know where that all came from. but like you said its up one day down the next, but thankfully more ups than downs now. glad you had a good weekend, ive been really busy as well, the 80ā€™s concert should be good fun. enjoy!
im sure your aches are probably due to the lymphodema and nothing more sinister, but boy doesnt it ache sometimes. you just dont know what to do with it.

take care everyone, you all seem to be busy little bees at the moment, not spending so much time on here, just hope your not doing too much housework.
x

Im trying to keep my arm up whenever I can but my bras are really painful on that side!!! bu its a small price to pay!!!

Well stopped raining here at last and hoping it stays fine so i can get my new grass cut before mates descend on saturday - thinking of moving my new furniture from my decking to patio as dont want anyone to walk on my turf - sad or what!!!

Someone at work said today how well Id handled everything, not being off sick, not compalining or cracking up!!! Wow, how wierd different peopleā€™s perspectives can be, I remember crying all time, wanting to give in, the lot and maybe I jusyt saved it all up for my poor mam and dad. Especially after Ive had a drink the day after as im a tad low all these symptoms seem twice as bad and I panic, but tyring to not panic and scare my poor parents when just have odd niggle!!!

Oh this weekend then we have 5 mins walk away: Rick Astley, Belinda Carlisle, Midge Ure, Paul Young, Curiosity Killed the Cat, Toyah etc. yipppeee.

Well hope those lot are sunning themselves and having a fab holiday - im soooo jeleous!!

Back to work tomorrow, hopefully haivng an early finish at 2pm as my god-daughters 3 birthday party!!!

Have a good week all xxx

Hi everyone,
well boo hoo had to come home eventually and got cases of stinky things to wash , just to cheer me up lol. I have just had such a fab time. I feel an essay coming on so will have to try to break it up into chapters you can out up with ha ha!
Day minus one phoned taxi to confirm our times and he had forgotten us altogether but said actually he was free to take us - so kind!! Journey out went as planned and no hold ups. Sonā€™s friend had never flown so very exciting to take him with us. Got off the plane and nearly fell over with the wave of heat that hit us. Our suitcases were last to appear, by then just really relieved to be reunited though. So last on the coach and all had to sit at the back so missed all announcements and snored our way to the hotel. Got off at our hotel with one other family and went in. The receptionist said, rather worringly, this is your lucky day, how would you feel if I sent you to another better hotel? It was 3.40 am,by now so feeling rather weary and not in the mood for mind games. So we asked a few questions and were then shown out of the hotel and round the corner into their new flagship hotel and stayed there for the whole holiday. Our resort was overbooked so anyone with children over 14 was offered the over 14s hotel which was a really fab hotel. The other was 5* but this was even better. When we got to the end of the first day and had not been asked for our credit cards we realised we had been very lucky. It had 7 bars to drink in, 5 restaurants and Lorraine I could easily make you feel skinny!! We probably had a choice of about 30 - 40 puddings alone each night. You just know I am not the sort of person who can be given such a long rope to hang myself! It even had night time snacks that offered soup, pizza, rolls, etc at midnight till 2.30 am. Then a final 3 am meal before you had to have room service until breakfast from 7 - 11. It must have been made for happy eaters like me
I am currently big, very brown and freezing. It went over 50 degrees one day and often 36 in shade before 9.30 am. Sorry to hear about aches and pains everyone. Will talk more tomorrow, but then you already knew that,
Missed you all
Lily xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Missed you Lily and your post already cracked me up - where did you go, I want to go there!!! Hoping for a little sunshine break in September but worried it wont be hot!

Enjoy the washing!!! xx

hi everyone

lily 2000
so glad you enjoyed the break, and even gladder your back so you can keep the posts going. cause im sure youve got lots to tell us.
40 puddings a night even i couldnt manage all that, i think i could probably manage about 3. i bet you look great with yer tan, and dont you think our flab looks better brown? so maybe i ought to start sticking on the fake stuff.

lisaf

lots planned have a good time. x

everyone enjoy your week. x

Welcome back Lily, where did those 2 weeks go! Glad you had a good time and will look forward to hearing about it.

Lisa, it sounds like an 80ā€™s gig? I just love 80ā€™s music, my fav period, hope waving your arm about wonā€™t make the LD worse so take it easy but enjoy. I totally agree about the bras, thatā€™s why iā€™ve given up wearing them, plus its just 2 hot here at the mo.

Garden is taking up lots of time, flippin free range chickens prefer to eat the cabbage, brocoli etc than the weeds. Picked our 2nd cauliflower today, cucumbers & melons, much too many, tomatoes are really sweet and delicious. Only problem is the problem with my tummy means Iā€™m staying off of all veg/fruit/milk until we know what it is (hopefully results Thursday).

Take care everyone, enjoy the 80ā€™s and whatever you are all doing have fun

P xx

Hi,(psycho mind searching post today, sorry)
sporting an attractive peeling nose today, thanks to typical British weather. Gigantic mountain of washing almost demolished and ignoring the ironing mountain for as long as possible :frowning:
I have something to ponder over with you. How come, despite being at such high temperatures all the time, I did not have one hot spell while in Turkey? I donā€™t get hot flushes like sweating, in fact something I have had done in the past year seems to have permanently stopped me from sweating at all. In England I get prickly heat rather than flushes and also wake up hot and throw the covers off. So weird, is it psychological ie on holiday so I must be fine. I would be interested to know if anyone else was different when away? I did still have creaky stiff feet and ankles first thing in the morning as usual, thanks to the tamoxifen though.I get the prickles if I rush or panic so is it linked to emotions rather than physical for me?
Another factor was that I didnā€™t tell anyone about my BC, so apart from my family and an occasional squint at my port scar I was ā€˜normalā€™ lol. Do you know what I mean that it was so nice to be normal if only for 2 weeks? I really quite liked posing as a middle aged slightly over-weight (ok more than slight, but a girl can dream :))woman with no worries. The people I met on holiday are the first ones since my dx that I have met who donā€™t know. I nearly told them once and then was glad later I hadnā€™t. What would be the point? What would it achieve apart from making them sad or embarrassed and give me unwanted pity or sympathy.
This is the first time I have managed to forget Bc and really dip back into my old frame of mind, couldnā€™t talk about it or be asked as no-one knew and hey presto, most of my niggly problems vanish. So when I win the lottery I am booking you all a trip to Turkey
Take care
Lily x x x x

ps - some new photos of our dear friend have been added by Tommy.

Lily totally know what you mean - I dont actually sweat but just flush an feel so hot but in Florida not one>!!??? Come to think of it I have really sweaty feet (yuk) but dont over there?!?!? How wierd eh!!!

Heard few good reports on Turkey! I loved being in florida, I didnt wear my sleeve and was very self concious about my cossie as was pretty obvious but still nice to not have anyone staring at you - get back to the washing!!!

Catch up tomorrow - will have a look at photos too

well this holiday talk got me into action, my friend has become single so we have decided on a short holiday and then another two friends (all from work) are coming for 3 nights, so Im off to a hopefully sunny Calahonda for a week of rest and relaxation (plus food and booze) at the end of September, the week after Dublin and the week before Manchester - phew!!!

Happy days all xxx

Hi,
back to earth with a bump or should I say splash, with the amount of rain we had today. Still getting used to the climate change I guess. I have tons of work to do before I go back to school but no motivation to start it. I also have 24 gnat bites and all I can say is the little blighters must really like my newly acquired Turkish flavour lol. They have not ventured near the woolly legs of son and hubby. I was suspicious that the dog might have brought home friends from kennels but I have not spotted him scratching at all. Boy do they itch!
Take care all
Itchy Lily x

hi all, discovered my headaches subside a tad with a large wine, lol!!! Garden like a bog at mo, but still looking forward to 8-s concert on saturday - might even splash out on tesco on line shopping for pims on the patio!!!

Yippee friday tomorrow xxx Have a lovley weekend all !!!
