Hi Lily, I’ll have a look at trains tomorrw, virgin trains site was down earlier, i can do any I think but will look for cheapest deal on train, will have to ratch back for hotel details, exciting and nervous. What would be best for me to land on you, your poor husband. Anyhow, stop with the bloke crack, making me sound like a hussy, ooohh wonder if there will be any nice barmen!! Looking forward to a chill/food, sod the diet and a nice chilled white wine.
Lorraine, glad you have been okay, tittering away about your poor mam’s breakfast.
Love to everyone else, hope some others can join us, what else have you got planned when you are thre Lily??? Glad results okay.
Havent thought about recon or read the info, having a few days break from itto think if something just comes to be about my preferred option as dont want to make a final decision as consultant might say no if hes in mood like last time.
Hi just me again, only night I seem to be able to book in only a room on a Wednesday night for £99, dont know wether it is getting full or not!!! I can get a train to get me there for about 1.30pm and I can get one back at either 4 or 5pm on Thursday, let me know what you think best.

Hi all: Wow lots to read – have been away and have been working full time since return so haven’t had time to catch up but you all sound very busy.
Lily: doesn’t look like I will make it to York – boo hoo. It would have to have been Tuesday night and now I find OH is away similar time and someone has to babysit the old dog – that will be me then! Will definitely try for another time. Check out Mulberry Hall in the Shambles in York – three floors of timbered building containing the most glorious china, crystal and silver – if you can’t buy you can drool! There is a McArthur Glen outlet on the outskirts – just off the A64 – which I gather is pretty good but York is so gorgeous I am sure you will have a great time. When I went there on business with the University we stayed at the Parsonage which is fab but then someone else was paying!!
Had six month check up with Onc last week, all OK except creaking fingers due to Arimidex – am off that for a month to see if that is causing the problem, if so he says he will find something else – still got to think about that. However, dropped 4lbs in the first week off it and, thanks to bad tummy bug, lost another 4lbs this week!! Trousers hanging off me – oh joy!
Will be in touch later. Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely autumn weather – better than the summer.
feeling a little rough again, i just dont seem to be able to pick up at the moment. my eldest son is full of cough and cold so i think ive probably got a touch of that coming. i feel as though everything is too much effort, and its hard to keep positive and not imagine other things. i need to get well for monday off to butlins minehead. so im trying to do little bits of ironing at a time. never mind tommorows another day.
lily 2000
dont know how you manage to carry on when your feeling rough? i admire that, which part of the country do you come from? i ask because i wondered what made you pick york for meet up. dont forget, your number just in case i make it. i doubt i will but you never know. i hope some manage to, it would be a shame if only you and lisaf make it. but im sure youll both have a great time.
carrieann
glad six month check up went well.
lisaf
ive given up on arm excercises, are you keeping up with yours?
Hi,
Lorraine sorry to hear you are not feeling too chirpy and hope you are not under the weather for your holiday. I am sneezing and feeling a bit worse today, throat had got better and now back with avengeance so cough cough all the time. Very annoying.Everyone I know has got coughs, etc and a lot of bugs around so there is good reason to be ill at the mo. Try not to worry x. I live in Essex and we planned it as Vcitor volunteered to drive me and disappear for one of the days if we chose somewhere interesting like York. Mentioned this online and Lisa said yes she could make York. At the time Angie was still with us and so - well I never gave up hope despite knowing it was a miracle we needed. I would have gone to see her if things had been different. I think Lisa and I could both talk forever but I think you probably could too so what a great natter we could all have Must remember the number! Julia what a shame but we all plan to have plenty of other meets don’t we Thanks for the tips and I hope to purchase some nice china from that shop if I don’t get sidetracked by clothes. I am suddenly a huge John Rocha fan as he makes nice things in big sizes and lost all reason and bought everything as I was so pleased they fitted.Better not go back there for a while! Glad your appointment went ok and I was just wondering, does it matter to be off tablets for a month? The surgeon told me to expect more aches on the Ais. Fab I was hoping to feel better than the Tamoxifen effect!Congrats on the weight loss. You better send me those trousers ha ha! Lisa I have not booked yet but will get on to it asap. I did not realise it would be so busy eek.By the way my name isn’t Lily which will drive you mad when we meet but I do answer to it now!
Hi Nick hope you enjoy your trip
Lily x
Hi,
will be back later but just to let you know I have booked Tues 27 and Wed 28 Oct at York marriott, leaving Thursday morning. They told me they were full but they have an online shopping deal and if you book for 2 days you get breakfast included and dinner on first night and a cosmetics makeover, personal shopper for 2 hours and taxi to and from shopping outlet. So I will be there Tues night and Wed night - Lisa hope you read this asap as the hotel is pretty busy. We can do the shopping bit
Lily x
Hi all: Monday morning again and I am working extra two days this week as my job sharer is on hols -AGAIN!
Re coming off Arimidex - the Prof said it wouldn’t matter as I would already have decent protection and it would build up over the five year period. He very much has the view that the odd delay here and there does not cause any problems - guess I have to trust the guy!
arrrghhh no computer access, will see what I can do in the morning, when I have access to PC, which day shall I book for then, tue or wed??? Cant believe you have kept your name hidden all this time, shame on you, not…
Hi ladies
Well it’s all go go go on here, sorry I’ve not been around to follow it all. Very busy and fairly stressed week last week - what’s new? OH’s b’day so I was dashing around in any spare time to sort out some pressies fro someone who didn’t know what he would like. Eventually managed to sort it all out with a few pressies for the day and then some IOU’s for things he will need to choose. Then sorting out lightening visit to YD’s and getting all the extra bits she needed. Very, very tiring, especially as I was working every day I wasn’t rushing around. However it was lovely to see her and how she has settled in, a few teething problems with the flat (room?) and still no internet but managed to help her out with a few things. OH and I stayed in a lovely hotel near her and managed to blag an upgrade due to his birthday - well worth it! We did have a good, if busy time, and OH really enjoyed seeing his youngest again. In a week or so she is back for her ‘half term’ so it will be nice not to be so rushed.
Sorry about all the colds and stiffness. I have had a tickly cough on and off for a week but it got worse over the weekend - I expect everyone thought I had swine flu -oink. A bit of a sore throat today but not feeling too rough - let’s see if it develops, hopefully not, but as Lily says there’s alot of it around. Lorraine I hope you are feeling OK, it’s so difficult not to worry about things, all the aches and coughs and things we get start our minds in overdrive. I’ve got my next lot of scans coming up so not looking forward to that at all. I saw a new consultant last week and he asked how I felt and I said ‘fine, between scans’ as that’s the only reference point I’ve got.
I hope Lisa and Lily have a great time, sorry I can’t be there, hopefully some of the others can make it as well? Hopefully I can managed another one if we have one?
Bev - hope you are OK after all the worries you must have had.
Julia - again, hope you are OK?
Will say bye for now, dinner beckons
Nicky xx
Catch up later, Lily I can get a room on the Wednesday only for £99, or £109, or £149 with dinner but think I just might book it bed and breakfast as the £149 for two people sharing - is it just me and you cos if you would rather just have a romantic break with your hubbie I dont mind delaying until another time, anyhow let me know and I will book or not book in the morning, cant get access after next 5 mins xxx love to everyone else and roll on getting lap top back tomorrow!!! xxx
Hi Lisa,
the trip was always especially to meet you and possibly some other buddies so you book that room quick. We just booked 2 days and the rest came with it. No problem, Victor and I can be romantic any time lol!! I think Lorraine is the only one left who could possibly join us? As we will already be guests the day you arrive (Wed) you can get there as early as you like but guess you would like a bit of a lie in if off work Shall I stand in the door with a red rose between my teeth ha ha ha ! Will pm my mobile number so you can say where are you Lily? Getting very excited about meeting you so book quick.
Nicky well take it easy or your blood pressure will be zoomin up with all that rushing around. It must have been lovely to see littlun and that was probably his best pressie despite all your hard work looking for things. I just have a slight cold that won’t go and mine is a silly cough too. I am just spouting some great Maths explanation and it starts and I have to just stop talking and get a drink or strepsil otherwise I cough all over the front row - nice! When are your scans? Did you like the new consultant?
Hi Julia I think these oncs know their stuff so I always trust mine (so far). Are you sure you can’t get a dog sitter for a night. Think of that shp hmmmmmm? Lorraine I hope the aches are going and maybe some York air would bounce you around a bit too Hope your break with the family sees some good weather.
See you soon
Lily x x
Hi,
oh ?!?! something big has come up at Victor’s work and I have to cancel no delay our meet next week until another time. I am sooooooo disappointed but hopefully Lisa you will see this before booking. It was all going so well but the people we planned to see have gone away that week too so billy no friends is staying home (large raspberry noises)
Lily
Oh dear - what a real shame - let’s hope the meetup is being cancelled for all the right reasons! I’m sure Victor wouldn’t be doing this lightly. Onto the next possible date and see if more of us can make it this time?
Hope everyone else is getting over aches, coughs etc. Mine (tickly cough) has now developed into a cold with blocked up nose to cope with as well so no work for me today and yesterday. Not much good as I don’t get paid. Maybe I’ll just have to go in tomorrow and spread it all around and sound weird on the phone when I call out
Had my CT scan yesterday, all very quick with hardly any time to think about it as it was a cancellation they had called me about the day before. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing - the ‘not being able to think about it’ rather than the cancellation being so quick. Now I have to wait a few weeks for my followup appointment as I booked that in advance thinking the CT would be at least a couple of weeks off. Will try not to think about results day arghhhhh!
Love to all
Nicky xx
Hi,
Nick well we all know the waiting is yuk and results day argghhh. I will everything crossed for you as always and think this will be one that sails by ok. My antenna didn’t go off when I read your post so I am feeling good about it.
Lisa I hoep I have not let you down too much and it will happen I am fed up at not going away but in credit crunch land clients take looking after these days so just accepting that. I think I am also fed up because it means I have no excuse to not get stuck into my masters huge essay now. Oh I was so putting that one off but if I can write 20,000 words by Dec I can graduate in March and finish with the people I have gone through with. Little chap will prob come to stay too so that will be nice. He had his first parents evening yesterday, he only goes for mornings this term. Apparently he is a bright little bunny and way ahead on lots of things. His Dad came back and said well he didn’t get it from me! Hmm we all worked that one out:) MD was a real smarty pants at school. I had a nightmare day at school with emergencies left right and centre. Told the kids it was a good job I wasn’t sensitive or I would need a month off for stress. They were amused. On the second week of my cold and now also into stuffy nose and a cough that appears from nowhere at bedtime and drives me potty. Ok pottier Nicky hope yours improves and I should probably take it easy but really hard to be off when you teach as you have to try to set work for them all to do without you. Easier to drag yourself through the day mostly. Went out to dinner tonight and got a nice full tummy of lasagne, fries and salad. Couldn’t even manage dessert - must be slipping.
Thinking of you all out there x
Lily x
Lily - I’m really worried now - what, no pud?
Hope you are improving, my cough really gets to me at times, yes, in the night mainly! Also hacking away like a good 'un during the day. Well OH is off to hospital (makes a change from me). He’s got a repeat knee op and I think they only have a lifetime of 5 years! He definitely wasn’t looking forward to it, as if anyone can, but he’s so scared of needles I expect he’ll be out for the count before he knows it. Luckily the local HHS hospital has an agreement with the local private one so he’s there this time around. No waiting in the waiting room to be called, he has his own ensuite room and a nurse came in to take his food order as soon as he arrived! I can see him making a slow recovery and asking to stay in overnight at this rate.
Other than that, no real news, I’m feeling grot so have been off all week and probably won’t bother with tomorrow either, not that I think I should with my germs flying around. I’ve made the most of the unexpected time off and have pickled some onions and just making some chutney - how domestic of me!
Take care all, hope everyone is doing well and that Lorraine has enjoyed herself in Minehead.
Nicky xx
Hi,
quite a long day with a parents evening tagged on the end. I ordered a salad roll and got a salad in a tub with coleslaw - yuk you just can’t avoid it if you don’t like it. Perhaps I ought to eat there every day, I would get slimmer really quickly Son has just walked in fed up of school and wanting to drop a subject so need to talk this through.Get well soon Nicky
Speak soon
Lily x
Hello to all
Sorry that I haven’t been around for a while, I’ve been having a bit of a difficult time so decided it might be best to stay away for a while. I’ve only read the last few posts, so forgive me if I’m a bit vague.
It’s nearly one year since I had my mx, as each week passes I can’t help thinking back to last year and reminding myself of what stage I was at. Do any of you have days like me? I feel soooo tired most of the time, still don’t sleep very well but of course always manage to doze off at some point during the day when I most don’t want to. My coughing episodes have resulted in a fractured rib and I am in some pain with this, especially when I bend forward, cough and sneeze, it’s been going on for some time now, well the coughing since about April and the pain on the BC side forever it seems, so I can’t believe that if it is a fractured rib it would take this long to heal. Anyway, I am off to see a lung specialist on 3 Nov for a diagnosis – it seems it might be rads damage. Although I’ve been told its not mets, I can’t stop worrying as in the beginning I was told I didn’t have cancer and they got that wrong!
Last week I saw a dishy and extremely young surgeon about recon for next year and he was gorgeous, just like Jenson Button but better. Oh the embarrassment as I had to have him feel all down my back for fatty bits, and then do some abdominal exercises whilst he pinched all my spare tyres – he decided that I am probably ok for the tummy tuck type of recon, so hopefully I will lose a few pounds when they do this. First they will do an angiogram to check on the state of the vast tummy! He told me that “young, slim, fit ladies are not suitable for this type of recon”, sounds like he was telling me something, cheeky b***err.
We are finally living in our house – hooray – it’s not finished yet but is liveable now so I am like a pig in muck enjoying so much space, and especially having a bath – bliss.
I will try to keep up now with your posts, when we moved into the house we didn’t have internet for a while and it was horrible – I felt cut off from the world.
Lots of good wishes to you all, I hope you are all doing well and are sorry if I’ve gone on about my health problems.
hiya all, still not got lap top back so just a quick catch up on dads.
Peacock you poor thing coughing sounds awful, know what you mean and rib sounds painful, i was panicing about coughing so much and gave myself black eye and bloodshoot eye and turned out to be whooping cough. Im sure it might be rads damage as do tell you it can cause damage. Think you should take it easy the tiredness does take a long time to wear off my first op was two years coming up in March and with pills does tire you out and Im only feeling much livlier now. I think Im looking at double recon using tummy method but sounds like a really serious op. told me I need to loose at least two stone to be more healthy as its major major surgery - soooo week 1 4lb off, poor supermarkets profits will have gone down with my reduction in white wine!!!
Nicky hope you feel better soon, rest!!! Its that time of year when we all pick up stuff i think.
Lily (or whatever your name is)lol! No pudding, must be feeling crap, sure you will pick up soon.
so sorry to read so many of you are feeling grotty with colds and poor Peacock with that awful cough. I too have been feeling a bit under the weather with feeling absolutely shattered for no apparent reason. I really can’t be bothered to do much which is really not me at all. I saw my GP and it maybe that I am a bit low in iron which I am now supplementing. Also I keep getting a pain just below my shoulder blade on the the BC side so that freaked me a bit but he thinks it is muscular as my lungs sounded o.k. and it too could be rad damage.
Thinking of you Nicky awaiting results and keeping everything crossed that all will be well. As with you Peacock hope that examination into the coughing goes well in Nov not too long to wait thank goodness.
Maybe it is the time of year that has made us all feel a bit on the low side physically (which then in turn has an emotional effect too) but we must dust ourselves off and start all over again after all the crap we have been through. Let’s have our fighting spirit back!! We will get over these grotty times and feel good again.
Sorry the trip had to be cancelled Lily but with any luck when the next one is planned I may be more in a position to come along too.
