antibiotics seem to be kicking in a bit, still really rough though.i had to go hospital again yesterday my drain had got blocked. they promised i wouldnt have to sit around, but of course as soon as i got there they uttered those fatal words"take a seat" i sat for 10 minutes and i was so weak i thought sod it, im going to bloody lie down so i got three bloody chairs together, and lay down. 20 bloody minutes later they saw me. (lilys fault about the language)
the two nurses tried to flush it, it wouldnt so the consultant come and had to play about with the entrance of the drain, it seemed a bit mucky so they took a swab.(maybe another reason for awful feelings ive got)
eventually they got it emptying again, and they laughed when i said they should have used cilat bang! the consultant who is foreign said what is that, i told her drain unblocker and then she saw the funny side
anyway ive had loads of fluid drain since.

Hi
Lorraine - what a bloody palaver. I hope all of this has not left you feeling worse and you start picking up with the anti biotics. It would be typical (of infections - not you!) for something in your pipes causing the problem. Cillit Bang - great! Donāt suppose you are up for a bit of Mr Muscle Take care - rest as much as your body tells you and hope the menfolk are behaving.
Lisa - yippee - have one for me - forget that, Iāll have one for you!
To everyone else sorry if I forget to answer any comments - itās been a bit of a busy week and by the time Iāve read the next chapters Iāve forgotten the plot - so to speak. A meet up would be good and half term should be OK with me. Not visiting YD until we have to move her from one apartment to another. Having said that it could be about half term but I donāt know yet until we give notice to her landlord.
Bev - sounds pretty good to me all this hydrotherapy lark - I expect itās going to take quite a while until you feel better Also I used to get migraines from sunlight as well except I didnāt develop the headache part so for years had no a=idea what these flashing lights were about. I donāt get them much (at all) now but am careful not to let bright sunlight catch me unawares.
Lily - sounds like a plan with the jewellery - what have you got in mind? What a lovely momento as well from the big day - yours and then the wedding later on. Hope school has been OK and the driving alright. We still have alot of slush on our road and our drive is pretty bad. Not driving my car as itās rear wheel drive but have used OHās and the Dās little C2. At least Iām not housebound anymore - hooray - and Iāve managed to do all my days work this week so get paid - which is the most important bit! On the swine flu jab I was sent an appointment for a couple of days before Christmas. With all the problems Iāve heard you all having I decided not to have it - hopefully a good decision!
Also tumour markers seem to be used by some oncās only - I have asked mine but she doesnāt use them - it doesnāt appear to be anything to do with the actual cancer, just what they use as indicators.
Hope everyone else on here Julia, Peacock, Scottishlass and any newcomers are doing well and the weekend is good. Happy Birthday for Monday Peacock and Westie x
Take care
Nicky xx
Hi,
carumba lots of news to read tonight! Lisa fantastic news and long may it last x Now do we get a few weeks off you worrying? Have fun wonāt you x.
Lorraine how are you doing? I can spell its my typing thats rubbish and I am too lazy to edit it, sorry about that! I am surprised you havenāt noticed the hundreds of typos before!!You must have felt bad to lie on the chairs, poor you. Poor you for all the faffing around with the drainage, sounds horrible and good for you for still being able to make a joke. How are the family politics going now? When do they look at if you are up to chemo? Will it be next week if you are ok? Start asking big questions buddy because if you are like me actually get quiet and placid at the very time you should be jumping up and down and asking to go to the top of the queue. Keep battlingx
Nicky how are you going with your tablets? Have you sorted out a routine that suits you now? Right plans everyone please are we meeting Feb half-term so everyone can book hols, sort dogs out, etc? That is Feb 15 - 19 and the weekend either side. Victor says not 18 and 19th as he has a meeting. Well I found some pearls I liked from an online store and they arrived today. I am really pleased with them - a quite chunky necklace with 3 rows of pearls twisted round in a sort of rope effect - looks better than that sounds and a bracelet with 3 rows of pearls and little gold bars at intervals. I am not allowed to wear them yet!! I did mention that earrings and a ring would look perfect with them lol!! It is our 30th wedding anniversary this year, which is pearl so you never know. Heaven hel Victor when we get to rubies Julia!! Nicky glad you are out and about again. I just had one swine flu jab and no problem healing for me. I think it is dropping off at the moment isnāt it? Funny about the tumour markers. MY Onc does them for everyone but when you ask him about them he says oh donāt worry about those unless they get into hundreds. So then why when it is an expensive test does he do them? I think most decisions come down to money these days and the extra time in the lab. My friend who is treated privately is having hers done every week. That makes me think it is a financial decision but maybe not a very important one. I am hooked on them now and canāt forget the bloody (hooray)things so always ask.Must remember to go for blood next week.Crikey Julia I almost donate blood, the number of bloody tests my onc does. The only ones not ticked for me this time are bloody vasectomy and bloody pregnancy!! Neither of which I feel like experiencing in the near future:)Please try to meet up with us x.
Bev hmm which was nice - the undivided attention of the young man or the treatment, you werenāt quite clear, ha ha. It will get better bloody pain waiting though!
Well better go as coffee getting colder by the minute. Start thinking about those dates and lets bloody do it
Hugs everyone
Lily x x
Julie ā yes that is the swine flu vac. I was going to see my dr today but when I passed the surgery she had so many people inside waiting I didnāt have the heart to stay. It has been better today though, for the first time in 10 days my arm has no longer been throbbing. What a coincidence, two Capricorns with birthdays on 18th. You have a great birthday too and thanks for your wishes.
Lisa you have a bigger will than me, I havenāt had a drink free evening this week and now itās the weekend but am drinking less than before (only a couple of glasses instead of 3 or 4). Must try harder next week. Good news and celebrations for you, enjoy!
Julia your village sounds like ours, weāve thought about buying a generator in case of power failures, which happen pretty often here. Donāt blame you for not having the pig flu vac, if Iād known how bad my arm was going to be I donāt think I would have bothered. Iāve never heard of visual migraines but they sound pretty awful, hope it clears up soon.
Bev keep up the exercises and stop ogling young men in the hydrotherapy pool LOL.
Lorraine, if cilit bang doesnāt work you could always have a go with Dynarod, seriously how bloody awful, donāt blame you for lying down. Hope the ABās make you feel better over the weekend.
Lily the pearls sound lovely and 30 years ā you would get less for murder wouldnāt you. That really is cause for a celebration so hope you are doing something nice.
As for tumour markers, well I usually ask my GP every 3 months to do the CA15-3 when I have my blood tests for diabetes and thyroid done, and as you may remember mine have been gradually going up since last Feb. However, they are still within the ānormalā range, which is 32 I think, even though they are going up they say to take no notice of them. The highest level when I was having chemo was 28, and my last marker was 27! I canāt make head nor tail of them really, but still find it a bit concerning that theyāre going up and not down.
Well, thatās me done for the evening now so have a good weekend everyone and hi to all I havenāt mentioned too.
xx
Hi,
well I will be busy tomorrow because I decided to ignore work and do what I want for a change. Had a lovely morning helping ED look for craft items for her wedding invitations - she has decided to design and make them herself. Victor is the main one doing it with her as they are both arty. I do try but I donāt think they believe I am up to their high standard of card-making!! Sounds like I wonāt be making them all then lol. We have also been buying blue vases as the florist suggested that the barn and wooden beam setting of the venue would look nice with informal slightly different vases of flowers, so each table is individual. This appeals to EDās designer nature so we are looking for suitable vases everywhere. Colour scheme is blue and silver with stars so we have comet trails all over the place, looks very pretty. Then little chap came shopping with me and also my Mum. He is so funny - he choose a fresh baked loaf of bread;carefully checking which variety he wanted on the shelves. Then it was a box of jam tarts, Cadburys caramel bars and 2 toy cars. He usually has one car but we couldnāt find a VW beetle (his obsession) and I had done such a good job of selling him a petrol tanker that he said āNanna I just canāt decide which one to pick!ā He is staying overnight and has been giving me impossibly hard projects to complete in lego! I have tucked him up in be with the wombles on sky and hope he will drop off. He goes to bed early at home but is far too excited when he stays here. So we have been watching Walle. Do you remember when Angie saw that when it first came out? Always makes me think of her and how much she said she laughed watching it.
Did anyone else get rained on all day today? Every tiem I went out the door it started or maybe it just never stopped. WEll hope you all had something nice happen this weekend. Keep smiling.
Lorraine sending you a big big bouquet of cyber yellow tulips, the real things are on my fireplace looking at me

lily

HAPPPY BIRTHDAY PEACOCK, AND JULIE
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HOPE YOU KICK YOU KNEES UP AND HAVE A GOOD TIME
Hi,
Lorraine sorry to hear you still feel rubbish. I know how long the days drag on without enjoying meals or at least some little nice thing to brighten the day and take your mind off it for a bit. You need to power yourself up or take someone with you who will fight your corner for you. I am not sure who you take with you, but maybe even one of the boys to say look after my Mum? Or you could write down how you feel and take a letter with you. Try to find the strength to ask or you will be back home still thinking about it. I wish I was near enough to offer to come with you. What about your BCN or Macmillan nurse, they are supposed to be there for you. In fact I would be inclined to ask for a second opinion from one of the top units if you can face the journey. Hugs and hoping to hear they have a good plan for you x.
ED came round and tried her wedding dress on today. I had forgotten how beautiful she looks in it, just like the fairy on top of the cake. I havenāt been to a wedding for years and this year I have 3 to go to. All the talk this evening when they came in for dinner was weddings. Suits, invitations, bills, flowers, cakes, menus, stag nights, hen nights. Hmmm should I be let loose on the town in a tutu - probably not!
Love
Lily x
Hope you donāt mind me quickly coming into your strand - just wanted to say Lorraine Iāve been following your posts and so sorry to read about the bad time you are having at the moment. I hope you begin to have some better luck really soon.
Lily your shopping expedition sounds lovely, and little chap has got such good taste in cars hasnāt he? Heās def going to make it big in life. Your description of your daughter is magic, she sounds like a princess and you will all be beautiful on the big day.
Lorraine, lots of hugs, so sorry that you are feeling so nauseas, is it your enlarged tummy causing it and canāt they give you some wonder drugs to help like the ones we take on chemo? Lily as always has some sound advice. Hope you get some good answers tomorrow, and thanks for your birthday wishes.
Hi to everyone else and hope you all had a great weekend.
P x
hi all, soz been absent had no pc access for a few days.
Peacock, happy birthday to you!!! Have a lovely day.
Lily your daughters wedding plans sounds lovely, my dream job would be wedding planner. Good on them making invites, thatās how i got into card making, made all my invites for my wedding, we loved black and white cards with kids on and flowers but couldnt find anything nice, mates kids posed in garden with gerbra (my fav) and was a theme. Since then had my own web site and done normal cards for people but made about 50 lots of complete wedding stationery for friends and people i hadnt met. Theme sounds really nice!
Lorraine hope you can take someone with you tomorrow to fight your corner xx
Quick post from me. Happy Birthday Peacock, and Westie. Lorraine - hope you are doing OK, fighting the infection/cold and getting some treament really soon to help get you back on track - big hugs.
Hope everyone else had a good weekend, wil catch up later.
Nicky x
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday dear Peacock and Westieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Happy birthday to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Hope you had a fab day and that some of your nearest and dearest spoilt you and made a fuss of you
Peacock I just wondered if your problem, down under had been resolved? I have been worrying a little for you. I guess you are a beetle fan too then. We have to stop and look at every one we pass. His Dad has done one up and says it belongs to little chap, so thats what probably started it. Did you have some nice pressies or a cake? Dare we ask which birthday it was.
They are talking about more snow, watch out Nicky!!Hope it is not coming your way again.
Lisa I missed you, so welcome back. We did actually send off for some to be made but the layers were peeling off when it arrived and the ribbon didnāt reach the end of the card, so they decided to try themselves. It is a cream envelope with a pale blue wallet inside. When you pull the ribbon at the top up, you pull out the invitation, choice of menu and directions all ted in silver ribbon. Then there are comet trails and ribbony bits. Actually quite a simple design but lots of bits to it. We are all doing them next weekend apparently. They are so fussy I may go shopping for urgent things. I am the only one in the house who is not artistic although I think I am careful and neat. Victor and the double sided tape and the envelopes!!! OMG was he fussy. I timed him and that means he will take 8 hours just to put the tape on. No wonder they are not keen on me. If I see a pile of things to do I have this urge to get to the end no matter what!!
Lorraine how are you matey. Hoping that we will hear that they have done something for you and not that you are detained by the NHS again. Brightlight nice to hear from you too.
Bev any progress with your ankle? I bet you are cursing more snow this week.
I am off to have blood taken tomorrow. Not really looking forward to it as I have an enormous number of tests this time and wondering how much blood they will take for them. I have arranged to go in school time so at least i feel lucky to be bunking off. Then the Onc on Thursday.
Take care
Lily x x
Good luck Lily with the bloods and onc - what are all the tests for, just routine?? Know what you mean about the invites, i used to love designing them and seeing them finished but the bit in between was hard work, thatās why I moved to jewellery - maybe you should be waitress and just keep them supplied with tea and biscuits!!
Lorraine hope you arent in hospital and you got sorted xxx
WEll hope you have recovered from your birthday Peacock and Westie and you got spoilt.
Ah, no more snow, Nicky hope it hasnt caught you yet.
Bev hope you are hobbling less.
Well better go to bed, starting to obsess with bathroom funky ideas, eyes a gog, who would have thought such a small box room could cause me to stay upā¦ hee hee
Thank you kind cyber friends for all my birthday wishes, I had a nice day, went out to lunch with a friend (she had BC 8 years ago too)and that was about it.
Westie hope you had a good birthday too?
Lorraine how are you feeling now, how did you get on yesterday at the clinic?
Lily I am now the grand age of 52! Yes, I am a Beetle fan, we nearly bought one a few years back but decided it was just a bit small for a family of 5. Good luck with your blood tests. I didnāt have cake but did have some creme brulee at the restaurant, then I had some flowers delivered from our son and I had a nice pressie from YD (sheās 15).
Nicky lets hope the snow avoids Basingstoke this time
Hi ladies
I hope the birthday girls had a good day - sounds like you did Peacock - creme brulee - one of my faves
No snow yet but keeping an eye on it. I have a weather function on my new phone and bore everyone at work with the 5 day forecast! It was very handy over the snowy time to know exactly how low the temperature was outside in case of ice etc. We still have odd, some very big, piles of snow left over where it was pushed into heaps. Overall itās milder and damp - so really could do without any more snow for another year at least. Rushing around on my day off to do all things I should have done in the last 2 weeks if only I hadnāt been snowed in.
Lily - doing your own cards sounds wonderful - a lovey personal touch. Like you I am not artistic at all so would leave everything like that to ED and possibly OH.
Lorraine - I really hope you are not on here becasue you are being sorted out - eventually - with chemo/tablets. Hoping you feel better soon and they work wonders.
Lisa - hope you are OK, planning that bathroom, how lovely - it menas it doesnāt need to be cleaned very well now as itās going to be ripped out! That was my way of thinking in our last house!
To everyone else, hope you are well and keeping busy - roll on the brighter weather and Spring.
Nicky xx
Hi,
well after 8 circuits of the main hospital car park and with cars driven up every available bank, corner or space big enough for a car to fit, I gave up and drove to the little hospital blood unit. It was Ā£3 for 15 minutes parking but by then I was just glad to get my foot off the clutch. A good move as I was clearly in the hands of an expert. The chap was very good, it was barely noticeable and done really quickly. I think the worst part may have been pulling the tape off as I react to it ha ha. So now just have to wait to hear what they find from all the tests. Lisa they are routine, which for our area are done before every meeting with the Onc, so 6 monthly. It was full bloods, ESR, full liver profile, full bone profile, full electrolyte profile and Ca 15-3 tumour markers. Then this time they added 3 tests to check my menopausal state to see if I move off Tamoxifen.I was not sure how much blood might be needed for the new tests and was being a baby about it! I still donāt like needles although my pain level has definitely improved :)ED has a black and white check bathroom with bright red accessories - that looks nice but particularly unusual or different. Mine is full of seagulls, puffins and seaside things so a bit nautical. Peacock you are just a spring chicken! Well you must be because I am right behind you and I am def not owning up to being old. Glad you had someone to go out with as I remember hubby is away. Yes I like creme brulee too Nicky mmmmm. Might have to buy some now you have made me think about them. I agree I hope Lorraine is ok but think maybe she is encarcerated. I meant to text her today and donāt want to do it too late and make her jump if it is near her bed. Lorraine missing you buddy and hope they are bloody doing something!!! It is making me so cross for you. Donāt be nice they listen to loud people.
Hi everyone else and take care
Lily x x
Lorraine hoping you are feeling more comfortable after being drained which must be a bloody draining experience too. Thinking of you.
Sorry I missed your Birthday Peacock hope it was a good one!
Well I have a bloody horrible day today as my poor little cat has taken a turn for the worse and we have decided to call in the vet. I am waiting for the phone call to see if they can come out to us or whether we need to take him down to them. I would prefer the first option (although it is expensive)as the animal is less stressed.(aswell as me!)
Also can anyone give me advice on whether taking Tamoxifen has given them a permanent discharge? I have spoken to the onc about it and my doctor but they donāt seem overly concerned. I find it a bit of a worry as it is unrelenting. Sorry to speak about such personal matters but I think this is one place I can do that and get advice.
Gosh itās quiet on here tonight, if everyone is like me and having problems itās no surprise! Everytime Iāve tried to go into posts I get the usual message IE cannot display the page ā¦ oh so annoying.
Bev I understand how you must be feeling its upsetting when our pets fall ill especially when they are getting on in life, (what is it for cats and dogs, is it 7 years = our 1?), well they are part of the family arenāt they? I know nothing about tamoxifen so canāt help, but, maybe the discharge is something else? Is it itchy or red around that area? Hurt when you pee pee? Someone is bound to be along soon who might be able to help.
Lily it sounds like youāve got no blood left after all that, phew. I hope I havenāt started a new addiction now, crĆØme brulee!
Lisa youāve been quiet lately.
Lorraine thinking about you as always and hope you are comfortable and that the nausea is better.
Bye for now
