Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
sorry Bev I can’t help with your problem as it is one thing I have managed to avoid so far (touching wood now). Why not ring up the BCN as it is much easier to talk about over the phone and she won’t be able to say I better have a look eeek.So sorry about poor catty and what a shame but good that he had such a charmed life with you.
Peacock no internet problems here or maybe I missed them. Like the new photo - nice hair  Yes 7 human years for one of a dof, not sure if cats are the same. I have never had a cat as my Mum is allergic to them and MD inherited it too. I do like them especially ginger cats and my friend has Persian’s that I am fond of and climb on my lap. Has your snow cleared yet? Hope driving is getting easier this week on your school journey.
I have insomnia as you can see from the time, stupid hospital appointment tomorrow. Also laughed too much watching BB and wide awake now.I am starting to really like Dane on this series, I think it is the funniest I have watched for a long time. Parents evening tomorrow too so quite a long day until I get back and means going to the hospital in my best suit which is a pest.
Lorraine big hugs munchkin

hiya all

Lily good luck with the appointment tomorrow. insomnia tell me about it 3am all this week, my own fault prob for workign late then on web looking for bathroom stuff. Totally know what you mean on BB, i howled at Dane and really grown on me to the point where i would vote for him i think, bless him to do that chilli and everyone liked it, hee hee and the nightmare thing, finding the tree quite funny!!! Brain dead when is your birthday again??

Peacock liking the new photos. Well i know im dieting this week bt even my desperation wouldnt send me to a cream brulee, yuk its the texture, give me a good old meringue anyday, thought i o/d on them but still work for me! Hope you get your internet problems sorted.

Bev, im on arimidex so cant really advise you, hope you get it sorted though and your poor cat, oh i would be soo traumatised as my pooch has such sad eyes as it is and not sure i could deal with it, he’s my first pet and at 10 i still think he’s my puppy dog. Hope it goes as well as can.

Well off to try and get some sleep, need it for work - hey wonder if insomnia is down to all the lettuce leaves ive eaten and the lack of week night wine - i’ll try any excuse.

Lorraine been thinking of you - hope you are just logging in too read to way to tired to post. I was going to text you but didnt want to interupt you in case you are sleeping xxx hugs

Well the ghastly deed is done. He was a massive cat so needed quite a heavy dose but all in all it was a peaceful as it could have been and at least he was in his own home. Really weird today though the house completely to myself first time ever as we have always had pets. Still I am going to have a little break from the responsibility of them for a while.

Thanks for advice re the tamoxifen I have been doing more research and unfortunately it is one of the side effects that you have to put up with and should only freak out if there is a bleed. I had my blood results from the Onc and I am not yet menopausal WHAT how can that be? 54 years of age only one ovary and been blasted by chemo. and what about all the hot flushes aghhh if I am not there yet does that mean there is worse to come? That is why I have to remain on the Tamoxifen and cannot go onto the Aromotose inhibitors yet. Oh it is all so confusing isn’t it.

Lorraine hoping you are feeling better and coping with life and that you have enough support around you. Remember we are always here to listen.

Lily good luck two fold with the hospital and the parents evening not sure which is the most scary?

Lisa yep a proper nights sleep is so difficult now isn’t it. I think it must be something to do with the medication. I actually resort to sleeping tablets every now and then when I feel I really need a better nights reast although I still wake up even after taking those but get off again quickly. Maybe worth trying not that I am suggesting you take more drugs but just now and again.

Peacock thanks for comments re my cat and he did live a fairly charmed life thankfully but still very odd without him. Empty nest syndrome the kids have all gone and now no one to look after apart from hub (not quite the same is it)

Nicky are you snowed in again? hope not.

love Bev x

Bev, just sending you a hug, you must be gutted about your wee cat, I remember when we had to get our dog put down, its horrible.

hugssssssssssss

Carol xoxox

thank you Carol that is very kind of you.

Bev xx

Hi ladies
Bev - I know how you will be feeling, missing your dear cat but also knowing he is not suffering anymore and had lead a good life. Off to the great hunting fields in the sky with my Tigger and Jet :frowning: I love cats as do my daughters who keep saying they’d like a kitten (or 2) but I’m the same as you and don’t need any more responsibility. We still have Jet’s sister with us who is a lovely black moggu but once she joins them all ‘upstairs’ we won’t get another cat, like you we’ve always had one or two on the go so it will be strange.
Lily - hope all went well today - checkup mainly but also parents eve - do you tell home truths? or just praise them all?
Lisa - get some sleep! I’m sure you’ll need it for the weekend as you are usually busy. I’ve also been waking at night - can get off to sleep initially but then wake after an hour or so. My overall temperature seems higher - not hot flushes but I can’t sleep if my feet are too warm, which is what’s been happening. Oh well, that and a dry throat from all the meds :frowning: Counting backwards from 99 is quite good - your brain gets so bored it switches off.
Lorraine - I hope you are being looked after either at home or in hospital if you have had to go in. Hoping treatment has started and you feel better soon.
Peacock - I’m not getting any problems with my pc - just not able to get on here so much this week. Maybe your friends and mine, France Telecom, are playing up again? YD had more bills from them, which we’ve paid, and her phone not working but luckily internet was still OK. Another load of phone calls from us and her before it got sorted. Hopefully all OK now.
We did get more snow yesterday - can you believe it? Another ‘snowy Wednesday’ It did settle but didn’t come to much and disappeared quite quickly as it wasn’t too cold. We are all getting a bit fed up with it now and I hope it doesn’t go on till April which is what’s forecast, brrrr.
OH and I are off to our 1st trip of the year, to Cheltenham for a night and a bit of shopping over the weekend. Hope you all have something to look forward to at the weekend - only one more day to go!
Bye for now
Nicky xx

Hi Ladies
An early post from me this evening as I’ll be busy watching telly all evening until late - I really am so sad!

Well done Lisa with the diet which sounds as though you have been really good, and you’ve been keeping off the wine too, I’m jealous! I’ve cut down but not stopped completely, still I suppose cutting down is better than not - who am I kidding! How’s the swimming coming on?

Bev i’m really sorry about your poor cat, I remember the sadness well each time we’ve lost one. I don’t think I could ever NOT have a cat, with 3 at the moment 2 brothers - 1 black and 1 ginger (how did that happen?) - aged 7 this year, and one tortoiseshell aged about 13 - we don’t know his real age as he was a rescue cat.

Lily hope you got on well ok today and expect you will be needing a glass or two of wine after parents evening.

Nicky, France BLOODY Telecom are a nightmare! I am now onto the 4th livebox since Oct and it still plays up. We only have 2 mb speed of broadband which is so slow compared to UK.

Thinking of you Lorraine, chin up buddy hope to hear from you soon.

Hi,
news from Lorraine. She is on her 3rd day of xeloda and is staying with her sister,as she used to before when on chemo. She feels yuk and tired but not as bad as when on FEC. She wanted you to know she is ok but has no internet there. Her drain is out so she is feeling discomfort from that. I am glad they are doing something at last although we all know it doesn’t feel so good when you are the one it is inside. Hugs Lorraine x.
Lisa yes for some mad reason I am loving the tree!! I will be in my forties until 2nd Feb and after that I guess I am lying about my age ha ha!Victor bought me 2 pairs of boots and is trying to wrap them up but I want to wear them. Hmm who will win this one?
Bev and everyone else thank you for your good wishes for me but sorry about catty. Sorry you are feeling sad too.I am staying on tamoxifen too, snap x. Hi Carol how are you?
Nicky why are we all waking up? I really don’t understand it as I am not hot when I wake. You are doomed to be snowed on forever it seems. You Basingstoke lot must have been very naughty to be so singled out lol. Have fun in Cheltenham.
Well my appointment went well and saw the top guy this time for my hands on experience!! He says no problems, blood counts are fab. Oh my tumour markers are down to 12, which is less than some people without cancer. He says it means nothing but I found it excitingly good news and so do all the family. Hooooray and long may it last (please). Then we discussed my hormone tablets and he wants me to stay on tamoxifen as he says the biggest success is showing as 2 years of Tam and then changing to an AI for my hormone status. He said he doesn’t really know if I am menopausal as tamoxifen affects the readings and so I am on it for 24 months in total. The other reason was my stiff ankles as that would prob get much worse if I change. Pea brain forgot to ask what i do now there is no nolvadex!!! So looks like I am in for a change anyway. He then told me he is sending me for routine scans as it is 2 years since I last had any so poo bloody CT scan and bloody bone scan to put up with and both are bloody vein diggers. Will have to miss school as radioactive! Ok that was a plus  I did frown at him and say are you sure you’re not checking for a reason and he said absolutely not. Guess it is the trial? So despite the good news I am back to see him in 3 months (April) with all the blood tests again, the surgeon in 6 months, annual mammos in April too and a CT scan and a bone scan. My final comment to him was ‘my school are going to think I am about to kick the bucket!’ which he had a good chuckle about.
Parents evening was fine, not many to see so back by 7.30. I tell the truth in an optimistic way. So today told them what grade they are heading for if carry on in current good/mediocre/ vegetative state and the best they could reach if they sat on a stick of dynamite lol. The kids all promised me the world and now I wait to see how long their good intentions last. They are all nice kids but not nearly as motivated as their parents/carers would like them to be. Hmm a lot of us can relate to that one.
Take care
Lily x x x

Glad to know Lorraine is out of hospital will text her tomorrow.

Bev so sorry about your cat, its really sad but glad it happened at home. Know what you mean about the flushes, mine hit me in bed and sweating but as soon as fully wake up it goes? Eased off since been off wine too.

Peacock, i havent had a wine again, scaring myself now but wont last out its friday!!!

Nicky cant believe you have snow again, mind im sitting here and the rain is lashing down and wind howling - gales planned for tomorrow. hope you have a lovely weekend break. Know what you mean, dont think i ever fully sleep, but never have done when things on mind and cos sleep with bad arm held up and cant sleep on my side i think im maybe concious.

Lily good news about results, must put your mind at ease a bit. Wow we have to fight like mad for a scan so think it must be your trial, its good they keep close eye on you as we have nothing like that. Oh boots, get them on, cant beat new shoes, im a horder wether they hurt or not.

Well even though wine chilling in fridge ive been good but sure i will ruin it all at weekend but going to try and limit it. Nothing planned for a change so looking forward to it, get caught up on paperwork, chill on sofa and housework. Work wearing me out, got so much on which is way above the level i work at, im taking the lead on new H&S systems and procedures with a consultant and making sure mangers take responsiblity for what they need to do, write what they should be doing and check up and monitor them, lots of work and suppose that’s what you get when you are the Chief Execs secretary but most other teams staff at a higher level would do it so tired and worn out - made a blunder and have a compulsory course on my only weekend away planned for this year, so im going to a concert if i can change my date, all my friends staying over and im going to come back with sister in law and loose out on hotel room , boo hoo!!!

Swimming given a miss this week but signing up tonight so committed to go and mate back next week.

Thank god its friday!!! Wine time

Lisa well done you on the wine front! I am going to cut down too and have decided not to drink during the week unless a special occsion but then look forward to indulging at weekends (in moderation) I think that might be doable after all there must be some pleasures left. You certainly sound as if you are busy at work I am quite jealous which I know sounds crazy but I have really been going stir crazy and need some motivation.

Lily great news from the hospital but what is this you have been told about Nolvadex? as my GP said it was no longer being made but my onc said it was??? at the present time I still have it not looking forward to going back to the original if that is the case. Thanks for the update on Lorraine too really hope she is feeling easier.

Nicky we could be joining you with the threat of snow as it has been suggested for the coming week Aghhhh we have really all had enough haven’t we.

Peacock hope you are keeping warm and thanks for wishes re moggy.

have a good weekend all whatever you are all up to.

love Bev xx

Hi,
son has just crashed his car! They are surveying the damage and his is really bent up at the front and he has neckache. I am glad he is ok but you tell them and tell them and they think they will never do anything wrong.
Going to bed and no doubt will be having nightmares about this
Take care
Lily x

Lily, oh what a worry for you. Is he ok? It’s late for me, I will write more tomorrow.
Try to sleep
Night night xx

oh lily you poor thing and your poor son, cant imagine, well can i had one years ago and can remember how upset my parents were never mind mad!

Hope everyone okay will catch up tomorrow, in rant mood with Corrie xx

Evening ladies
Hope everyone is ok, Lily is your son alright? What’s the news re the car? Lisa I agree, Corrie has really driven me nuts… want to make a complaint… Lorraine, it was good to hear that your chemo has started and hope you tolerate it well…

No news here, boring day really, looking forward to Weds night when OH comes back after a month.

It’s our 18th anniversary tomorrow and he’s not here!

Take care all

Hi
happy anniversary Peacock, even if you are on your own. Mr P owes you alot of pressies doesn’t he!!
Thank you for your concern my son is fine but taking paracetamol for a slight neck pain. He is learning a hard lesson in life unfortunately as his friend seems to be turning on him. It was all amicable but as in so many insurance claims, someone says you could get a fortune and friendship goes out of the window. He sent a text to say he may have to claim off him. Well in your first year of driving that is it, they will really up his premium. The other one was complaining about his back but has played football today so I hope that means he is ok. As I said to my ‘big little boy’ it is just inconvenience and money and all that can be put right in time. If it was a person injured or worse killed, we could not put it right and would be trying to live with far worse.I hope we can make him an offer to keep both sides happy.
On a happier note we have been making wedding invitations all day, which was fun even if Victor and Ed only let me do cutting and sticking jewels on ha ha. Son is 18 soon and we bought him an Armani watch that he had seen and he is having an iphone so the day cheered up considerably for him. Surprised ED with a necklace like a star for her wedding day. Chose right, she loved it. Right off to bed.
Hope everyone is having a more peaceful weekend than us
Lily x

Hi,
had a message that Lorraine is still feeling pants and her tummy is still uncomfortable. I was hoping the chemo might have started to slow down or stop the ascites but no change yet. She is still away and without the internet.
Busy weekend on school work as it is my mad time of year when I have class reports and form tutor reports and I have not known them long really, so I had to ask them lots of stuff. I had 12 for dinner tonight and thank goodness I have a dishwasher or I would still be out there lol.
Have a good week if you can
Lily x

Hi ladies
I’ll try and get a message to Lorraine - I’ve only just been able to log on and check that I still had it from Magsi before. Hopefully the tablets will kick in soon, I’d imagine they would take a time if the dose is over 2 weeks instead of 2 hours.
Lily - glad your son was/is OK but what a bummer! As you say it can all be fixed but it’s the cost and what it does to the insurance that I get worried about. If his passenger is likely to claim maybe you should get down to the football field with your new camera you got at Christmas and film how ‘injured’ he is? Hope the week doesn’t get too busy or bog you down with all that writing. You are quite the saint doing all your large dinners! I haven’t done anything for ages but feel I ought to, must get my head round it!
Happy Anniversary Peacock - 18 years - pretty good going and I hope you get to celebrate when Mr P is back. We are 25 years in September so hoping for a nice holiday to somewhere exotic.
To everyone else I hope you had a good weekend. We had a lovely time in Cheltenham, just pootled around to shops after a fab meal the night before. When we got back I didn’t want to cook so we had one of the Sainsbury’s Meals for £10 and it was really great. Trying to work out if it’s worth going to a restaurant these days. The Gu puds were sooooo lovely I could have eaten both of them but OH decided he did want his after all, spoilsport. We also watched The Proposal on dvd, if you haven’t seen it it is well worth a go, very funny and to keep the men interested in this semi-chickflick Sandra Bullock gets naked!
Will catch up soon, working odd hours again this week to fir in hair cut, blood test (nothing major, just routine for all the heart pills I’m on) and a leaving drink. Today was the only full day off so I’ve been sorting a few things out for a friend’s 50th as well as getting my car MOT’d. My 2 D’s shared car goes in tomorrow to repair the wing mirror that YD managed to damage over Christmas - what are they like?
Nicky xx

Hi,
Nicky did you buy any nice things on your trip to Cheltenham? Thanks son is ok just a little achey on the neck. Other chap sent a text saying he is better so hanging on to that:) I am still hopeful that we can be generous as his car has taken a bashing but not get bashed ourselves! Time will tell. It had to happen in the middle of his big week of A2 exams!! I got all my reports completed so that is my biggest job of the school year done, after this it will just be individual classes and someone else can pick up any mistakes from me instead! I had a late night and Victor managed to do sausage and casserole and tagliatelle - with a lot less instruction this time. So I guess that means we have a choice of 3 dishes when he cooks now lol:) Mustn’t complain as he just goes out and washes my car without being asked. Not much news just on a countdown to turning the decade and I am a bit excited about it now
Love
Lily x

hi all, just quickie as been on the housework all night and trying to get some sleep. Lily glad your soon is better. Nicky glad you had a nice time. Peacock, happy anniversary.

Text Lorraine - lets hope chemo kickcs in soon.

Nite all xxx

Lily I’m so pleased your son is ok and how relieved you must be too. What a problem for you all with the difficulties between your son and his friend, like you say, you find out who your friends are when you need them. Good luck with all the reports. Lucky you with Victor having a repertoire of 3 meals! I’m married to a chef and he very rarely cooks for me, so I’m hopping over to one of yours soon LOL!

I hope Lorraine is soon feeling better, how rotten for her and I’m sure she is being looked after by her friend, she probably misses the internet like mad. So Lorraine, if you manage to read this go kick those blighters.

Nicky it’s great you had a nice weekend in Cheltenham, one of your many little trips eh? I’ve got the proposal on DVD but haven’t watched it yet, I do like Sandra Bullock films she is such a good actress. Hope the car has passed the MOT ok?

Lisa how’s the diet and exercise plan going? I’ve been walking most days and can feel the muscle’s in my legs being used, so I think that is good. Am trying to keep off the biccies too but need to go shopping for some fruit and when I hit a hungry patch today I had no choice but got the biscuits out.

Thank you all for your anniversary wishes, Mr P and I will go out for a meal probably on Saturday, am counting down the minutes now until he arrives home tomorrow.

xx
