Hi,
gosh it was cold today wasn’t it. We laugh because it nearly always snows on either my or my son’s birthday.Oh for a summer birthday. I have ordered a cake like a book with the page on one side for me and the other for him so hope that is nice. very concerned about getting it home in my car in one piece. Better remember not to go too fast that day! My nice night in with ED visiting when we watch tv and drive Victor crazy as he hates Holby City on the new big telly as he can’t avoid the gore. I am planning a school trip, taking 33 kids out for the day and the forms argggh. Its enough to put you off but they get so excited and it is local so hopefully not too stressful. Peacock I thought you would be having fabulous food with him being a chef - how disappointing. I agree hope Lorraine is improving and not feeling worse on xeloda. it seems to suit some people more than others but nice to not go into hospital every time. I am abandoning good eating until I have run out of invitations and arrangements to celebrate. Should be a fab week ha ha
Lily x
hiya all, yum lily cakes sounds nice, having withdrawels from chocolate and wine, had a blow out at weekend but need to try and control it, lost 2lb though and in my 4th week of no drinking on school nights!!
Peacock hope you get a nice meal at the weekend.
Well im shattered, been on a major tidy up and didnt realise how messy my house was, its hard work, i need to find a place for everything and keep it there, i can never find anything, so on ratch for jewllery holders, shoe boxes, with making jewellery you would think i always had it on but its all over the place, so tidy time and my 80 odd pair of shoes needs to reduce, its obsence and had 1 clear out and end up wearing the same till they fall apart.
Got 15 mates coming on Saturday night for my birthday before hitting town, wow, need to be organised, bit of a wierd day my birthday as think it is the exact day i found my lump. Boy with all this tidying im aching like mad, struggled to get out of the bath - but hey ho its coming out the bath is coming out, however, once it starts i will have no loo for a few days so parents I think!!!
nite all, from a hyper lisa xxx
Hi ladies
I was half way through a posting yesterday but got called away from pc and it never made it on here! Just a catch up with everyone. Hoping Lorraine is getting the benefits from xeloda, plus none of the SE’s that come with every chemo
Lily - I bet you are excited. You may have said but what/how are you/both celebrating these big birthdays? Are you having a party? Or a lovely meal out? Although you say you’d love a summer birthday having one earlier in the year when the weather is so awful is nice. I have to wait another 6 or so weeks and it’s not a big one this year - without being morbid I just hope I make my next big one! Then that will be a celebration
Lisa - hope you can see the light at the end of the tunnel with the clearing out. Once you start you know you have to finish, which is why we all put it off I suppose! Again, you will have something to look forward to - a clear house and a new bathroom. Plus a birthday at the weekend, I’m sure you will have a great time and look on the fact that finding the lump on your birthday hasn’t stopped you having many more - another reason to celebrate!
Peacock - have a good time when Mr P comes back
Very cold here as well as everywhere it sounds. Hopefully we don’t get a Snowy Wednesday as the last 3 have been. Just spending this week working and catching up on things, yes my car got through it’s MOT - I’d hope it would as it’s not that old. Plus got door mirror replaced on D’s car. Now onto hair cut and blood tests! After that a few things will have been ticked off my list of to-do’s. Decorating our bedroom to start at the weekend, it shouldn’t take too long as there should be not much preparation as it’s all fairly new and there’s not a lot of wall to cover once the doors and windows are taken out of the equation, plus a sloped ceiling.
Hope everyone else reading or writing on here is doing well.
Take care all
Nicky x
Hi all – am trying to have a catch up with you but there is soooooo much to read!
I hope that Lorraine is coping OK and not having too much trouble with the SE’s.
Bev: really sorry about pusskins – I remember when our first Airedale went, cried for days and the house was so quiet. Couldn’t stand it and had another one who is now over 11 and getting very creaky – bit like her owners! Hope your ankle is better. Once again (so far) I have been lucky with no joint aches except my hip which is really caused by having had two bad falls on that side and nothing to do with the drugs. I do have creaky fingers but that is caused by nodules on the tendons – had a second one injected on Monday – hurt like hell. My Onc changed me to Aromasin from Arimidex because he said it gave better long term protection against recurrence and had fewer achy SE’s. One of the other SE’s is anorexia – can’t wait for that to kick in for a few weeks! Saw my GP on Monday about the migraine thing – we decided that since it was so sporadic – haven’t had anything for three weeks – we would bin the optician’s letter and wait and see.
He also gave me antibiotics for a terrible chest infection – coughing like a 60 a day person – which make my mouth taste vile and vino likewise. When talking about my cough, he mentioned the rads and wondered if that could have affected my lungs – I know it can do that. Oh joy, just another thing to worry about! He also thought that rads were evil and should not be inflicted on anyone – can’t say I disagree there!
Peacock – hope your arm is better now and have a great weekend for the anniversary. We get to 40 years in February – yes you would get less for murder and be out now with good behaviour! Sorry I missed your birthday – belated happy wishes.
Lisa: happy birthday for this weekend, and good news about your check up. When I have a mega-clear out I warn OH to keep moving or he could end up in the bin – you have to be completely ruthless don’t you? No use keeping stuff just in case. Just clearing up the rubbish around the house is bad enough but when you get to the cupboards/attic etc it really is hard work.
Lily: good news with the bloods and your check up. Interesting about your scans, apart from the bone scan, I have not had one – will talk to my Onc in March. How is your son? Did he get checked out for whiplash? Are you looking forward to the birthday next week? Have a note on Outlook to remind me to send you a suitably rude greeting!!
Nicky: Haven’t been to Cheltenham for ages, it is getting to the time when some shopping is due when hopefully we can look forward to better weather – not this weekend it’s going to be about -2 around here.
I’m working full time for the next two weeks as my co-worker is off to her timeshare in Gleneagles. I don’t mind being here but getting up early each morning when I have had a crap night’s sleep (like last night) is a bit of an effort. Could easily fall asleep over the keyboard at the moment (3.30pm).
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all keep away from hospitals, etc, for a while – like say ten years? I really get sick to death of it all.
Anyway, better try to look busy.
Hugs to all, particularly Lorraine if you are reading this.
Julia
Hi,
Lorraine just sent me a text to let you all know that she is back in hospital for the ascites to be drained again.I don’t know anything else as it was a brief message and she has not replied to my text back yet. Hospitals vary about phones so much. She has said that her tummy has been uncomfortable so I am really hoping that they can make some improvement for her. She is still offline and said she dreads to think what we are all up to!! I told her we were all up to no good without her.Our poor old buddy is going through it at the moment.
Julia fab to hear from you. I have such mixed feelings about routine scans. I know you feel fab when they go well and get some solid reassurance from it but I hate having it done as both are vein diggers and I am worried about the side effects of them a bit. has anyone worked out the dangers of all this radio active material and radiation is huge from CT scans I read. Anyway as usual I will be a sheep and put my trust in the Onc as everyone says he is brilliant. I actually don’t have too many wobbles but so many appointments keeps it in my mind a little. I will go with the flow and see what happens.
Julia if aromasin makes you stop eating so much I think I will insist on having it keep us posted. Is your heart ok or more settled now? Also hope the cough eases up - try inhaling vic and stuff like that, it often helps for a while. My son is fine and so unlikely to have been a real whiplash. He is frantic to get another care a sreliant on evryone just as he turns 18 and can go wherever he wants. Suits me lol. Love to get rude greetings from you ha ha. I have a week of fun planned so getting into the party mood and chamoers ordered tonight ready for the weekend. What did your ons say about aromasin being steroidal based? Just wondered as you mentioned not sleeping. Take care x
Nicky it is quite a busy weekend. Well CVictor and I couldn’t be bothered to cook so started our bean fest by going out tonight to a local pub. Then family all in tomorrow for a take away, 14 of us out to a carvery, a family party, more take away on my birthday, cakes at work, dinner with my local BC friends and tank top terror taking me out as well!!! I am going to be soooooo fat and think I might get my indigestion tablets ready now. This sounds like my kind of birthday. Also Victor says do we want to meet up so he can arrange the days? Anyone? What ere your blood tests for? Are you having checks? Good luck if yes and keep us posted.
Lisa what have you got planned for your birthday on Sat? Make sure you tell us all about it. Are you saying how young you are? have fun x.
Hugs and hi to everyone else
Lily x
just a quickie as clear out still underway and want to climb into bed. Love to Lorraine, will text her tomorrow!!
nite nite, might be more with it tomorrow - arrrgghh 37 almost!! xxx
Hi all,
Lisa have a lovely birthday weekend! it certainly sounds as if you have a fun timed planned. I am having a clear out of my house too well as best I can hopping around. We have certainly accumulated a lot of rubbish over the years.
Peacock hope you had a day of spoiling yourself even if the other half wasn’t with you for your wedding anniversary. Ours will be the 31st in March how can we be that old already. Hubs will be 60 this summer but ofourse he married a child bride!
Lily so sorry to read about your son and his car accident what a shock but thank god he is o.k. and that is all that really matters. I hope his mates are being a bit more reasonable about it all now things may have calmed down. The birthday cake sounds great enjoy!
Julia lovely to hear from you again and interesting news re the aramotose inhibitors possible having the side effect of not wanting to eat now that would be a novelty!! I could do with that. My bloods have shown I am not yet menopausal (which seems crazy to me) so that is why I have to continue with the Tamoxafen. I don’t sleep well with this so can’t imagine it getting worse with another drug. I normally wake 6 times every night and can only sleep better if I take a sleeping tablet. Such a shame as I have always been a really good sleeper so it came as a bit of a shock.
Nicky gosh you do sound busy which is great enjoy!
Lorraine thinking of you and wishing the medication to take effect and make life more comfortable for you.
House still seems very quite without Oscar.
Have a good weekend all.
love Bev xx
Hi,
first of all have fun tomorrow Lisa and as I am going to be 50 I think 37 sounds pretty teenage to me ha ha. We got to another one eh cause for celebration. We have been making wedding invitations and they are all done and in their envelopes ready for posting now. A mammoth task as they are quite intricate. Well I will miss Big Brother as I have been glued to this series every night with a lot of really funny things on there. BTW LOrraine has stayed in hospital rather than go home or to her sister’s so she can have a drip. She was cracking jokes so hopefully feeling a bit brighter and the drain procedure had gone well, thankfully. Its going to be a fun busy weekend here too with my son turning 18 on Sunday. We have the champers ready to sit up on Sunday night. Don’t think I will do that for mine though! Annoying being a tecaher when you would like to have special days off and can’t. Oh well we win at other times with holidays so shouldn’t moan.
Bev is there any improvement with your ankle? You must get fed up waiting for it to be back to normal. MY Onc insists that taoxifen mucks up menopausal readings , said well its been 2 years so you must be and then said he wants me to have 2 years on tamoxifen anyway so I am staying on it too. He says there is evidence that 2 years on tam and then changing is the best option for my status, so I am guessing you are the same. He says if I have any aches on Tam they will be far worse on an AI very often. Better the devil you know maybe. I have tons of appointments to go to grrrrr.
Nicky what were your bloods for, have you been for a check?
Better go as its getting chilly so hetaing must be going off. Have a fab weekend Lisa.
Lily x
Thanks all ; lily hope your son has a good one - when is your big day, is that the day you disclose your name…lol!!! xxx
Love to you all have a good one, will text Lorraine tomorrow. feeling quite good for a change but might be the wine. wierd cos its my finding the lump anniversary but i would rather celebrate it as finding the lump and dealing with it…
happy birthday Lisa and have a great time tonight celebrating. You are only a baby 37!! what a great age enjoy it.
Lily hope your son really enjoys his 18th after the horrible business of the car. And Happy 50th!! it really isn’t that bad (once you get use to the idea) enjoy the bubbly!
Lorraine if you can access this we are all thinking of you and wishing you comfort and recovery.
love to everyone and have a good weekend. Just off swimming with a friend to do my exerices for this damn ankle but getting there slowly.
Bev xx
Hello ladies
Firstly Lisa I hope you had a great day today, not too many horrid memories of finding the lump, but a really fantastic birthday - hope I’m not too late.
If I don’t manage to get on line before your big day Lily, well you have a good one too, being 50 is only a day BTW, once you’ve gone past 50 then 51 isn’t so bad (or 52!) LOL.
Bev, what a pain that you have to stay on the tamoxifen, I sympathise with the bad sleeping as I am a dreadful sleeper.
Nicky, Julia and anyone reading, have a good weekend and will catch up next week.
Lorraine, thinking of you buddy and hope your abdo is getting some relief now.
xx
Hi ladies
Firstly a belated Happy Birthday to Lisa - I’m sure you are up bright and breezy right now reading this LOL. Hope you had a great day and night out with your mates. As to the lump -well, you’re here and it ain’t, guess that makes you the winner
Lily - a Happy 18th to your son and I expect you’re having a great weekend celebrating. Don’t have too much cake - leave some for the others!
Lorraine - I hope you are improving and getting some relief and that the chemo is starting to do it’s job.
Peacock - hope you and Mr P have had a nice weekend - I think he’s back now?
Bev - hope the swim was good and your ankle is gaining strength all the time so you are fully mobile soon. Just watch out for the icy patches still around.
To everyone else on here I hope the weekend finds you chilling out (not literally - we have minus 1 here atm!) I’m stuck in the bedroom all weekend! And before any smutty comments get fired back it’s decorating time not hanky panky! Second coat of paint in a minute and wallpapering tomorrow - what fun - just hope all of your weekends have been more exciting.
Nicky xx
Ta for the messages all had a fab birthday, much better than the last two anyhow! i got lots of lovely presents, my parents and brother and wife and kids all got me a nintendo wii with some games, was chuffed, not usually my thing but had a few good party nights with them. Got lots of other goodies then had 18 friends round for food and drinks before going into town where we danced and sang all night and tottered around in high heels and have full memory and no drunken antics - must be growing up. Was almost in tears as my friends also chipped in together and bought be the wii fit and balnace board - was really touching and a nice poem about me!!
Well hope everyone had a lovely weekend and Lily you are celebrating today!! xxx
Hi,
Lisa glad to hear you had a good time and fab to have so many friends and family around too. My son’s friends saved up and bought him a wii and games and he was totally knocked out by them doing that. I have been playing golf today and annoyed all my competitive males by having a hole in 2, beginners luck they reckon ha ha! I would like the wii fit, let me know how you get on with it.Mine is on Tuesday.I am 60 on 02/02/2020, what a crazy date that is.
Nicky I love that, about the lump gone so Lisa is the winner. Lovely thing to say Yes we are celebrating a lot and a lot of cake too eek. So was your weekend in the bedroom productive lol. I can’t resist the opportunity to ask!! Your room or one of the girls’? We like details about colours and things. Thanks Peacock for your birthday wishes too and I am fine about 50, no-one has even managed to ruffle me yet. Even the kids at school said Miss you can’t be 50, so I am just being a bit smug about that I guess. A little while ago I wondered if I would be here when I was 50 and of course we all know many fab people who aren’t so no complaining on that score.
Well we all went out for a meal Sat night, son brought 3 friends and then the girls and partners and little chap. ED had sneeked in and asked them to put helium balloons on our chairs. We had the most enormous ice cream sundays for dessert, so yum, then back here and we all sat up to see his 18th birthday in. All played on the wii and then crawled into bed very tired. Don’t you love going to bed really tired, doesn’t happen often for me. I could give up sleeping for good and cat nap occasionally. Today we had all the previously mentioned gang and all the relatives round so lots of food preparation for me with a little help. Then we had cake and champagne and speeches and my Mum told everyone every story she could think of about me while growing up arghhh. Nice day though and we are left with a mountain of glasses that don’t go in the dishwasher and Victor is the only one home tomorrow ha ha ha! Did you know you can renew your passport online, well at least apply and they send you forms etc to sign. Beats queuing at the post office as only the larger ones stock them.It also means (if you read between the lines) that Victor now thinks we are going to America too - hooray - these things take careful, determined, persistent and hard-core planning The trick is making him think he made the decision. Son sold his crashed car for nearly as much as he paid for it - how does that happen? So now on the look out for a replacement. He has his last exam tomorrow so bed early on his 18th and no doubt making up for it later. I have already had to take in his passed out friend who did not dare go home and was sick here all Friday night. Mine doesn’t seem to worry about how he comes in, is that good or bad? I can’t decide.
Must go as heavy day tomorrow and a heavy Lily by the end of the week with so many dinners out.
Lily x x
Hi Lily: I promised you a rude birthday greeting but unfortunately most of those on cards are either pathetic or vile!
However, below is a word of warning for your partying tomorrow – the words of the great Dorothy Parker (whom I love):
I like to have a martini,
Two at the very most.
After three I am under the table,
After four I am under the host!
Have a great birthday – along with all the other birthdays we are celebrating at the moment including your son’s 18th.
Enjoy!

Hi Julia
loved it ha ha ha. You know I think it is the pretty floral old person sensible cards that spook me most! Well I have been pondering being 50 and leaving behind the naughty forties. I blew my candles out and you know what I wished for but included a lot of other people in that wish with me My son was standing next to me blowing out the candles on his side of the cake. I reckon he wished for a win on the lottery or similar. How great to still think that one lucky break is all you need for divine happiness. I remember it well. The kids at school thought I meant I was going to be 40 when I said it had a zero on the end. Crikey you know you are a rubbish maths teacher when they think you can have an ED of 26 and be approaching 40!! Well I suppose that is possible in their eyes hadn’t thought they had put me down as a teenage Mum lol. Asked the boss if I could take a slightly longer lunch if I wasn’t needed and as not teaching anyway and he said no it would set a precedent. I said to one of the others I would sit and glare at him through school lunch but apparently he isn’t in school, out and about doing things!!Maybe moving jobs will be on the horizon for my fifties then hmmmm.I thought he was really mean and just turned on my heels and left him standing there. Anyway one miserable old meanie won’t spoil the day.
Signing out for the last time in a decade that has brought me great happiness (little chap) a new career (teaching), technology (you cyber friends) a car I always wanted (Audi TT) and my biggest fear (cancer). Wondering what the next 10 will bring. Take care everyone and sending you all a cyber piece of my birthday cake
Lily x x x x x
happy birthday Lily, have a fab time and here’s to life being more fun and healthy in your 50’s!! Sod the mean old headmaster, grumpy git! Have lots of laughs and cake an dhope you get lots of lovely treats and pressies - 50 eh! Not bad when they all think you are 40!!
Yum looking forward to that cake and hope your wish comes true you deserve it xxxx
Happy birthday Lily - have a great day - sounds like the weekend was really good as well - keep on celebrating and enjoy all those cakes

Will catch up on the news later - off to work early today for a seminar.
Take care all

Hi,
thank you for all your kind wishes and I am stuffed full of chinese tonight. All the family came in and we had bucks fizz and played on the wii. At school they had put balloons and banners and confetti things all over my desk and filled my pencil case so expect I will be finding them for months. They bought me jewellery and a chocolate cake which we all tucked into. My tutor group sang happy birthday every time they saw me and bought some little pressies. My older students had broken into my room and I was greeted by them blowing bubbles as I went in which went straight in my eye so didn’t see a lot after that ha ha. The little devils had hung things from the ceiling, put pink balloons everywhere, pictures of me they had got from prom photos on the wall, sparkles on every table, whistles, cakes to eat and bubbles everywhere. I didn’t have the heart to make them do any work so we had balloon competitions and ate cake. The when my little ones came in they went potty with the balloons too. I crept out so I did not have to face the cleaner eeek. So a fun day and on a school trip all day tomorrow so fun day tomorrow too. I sent Lorraine a cyber bouquet and she said she is still in hospital and has to get stronger.
take care
Lily x
