Hi,
Julia congratulations on 40 years, a great achievement ha ha! We are 30 this year and as Ed is getting married in May she will turn the decades with us too. I am going to a valentine day wedding on Sunday so will think of you then. Have a fab trip and hope it is not too cold. What a worry the cough is but at least they are talking about it being ok sort of things and not nasties and they should know what they are talking about. Draining having abad cough though, poor you and hope it improves soon. keep us posted.
Lisa how was the big squeeze? Hope all went ok although they donāt say anything usually.
Bev I have no idea why I have so many appointments as they told me the last 2 times, that I had been given a lot of treatment and that I was not very much risk anyway. Any risk is bad enough for me to worry about. I donāt think BC has heard of stats! Oooh good luck and hope the pelvic u/s was not too grim and that everything is as it should be. Noted the film as I like a good laugh and giggling at you in flight socks too. Has anyone asked you where the emergency exits are yet lol ?
Nicky look out more snow coming. Hope its not on your head again.
Take care all
Lily x
Just a quickie - my Prof phoned me this morning to say he thought it highly unlikely that the rads had anything to do with my cough as the rads didnāt go down far enough to effect my lungs. Having checked my CT scan done for the rads planning they only went down 8cm which was not far enough to cause any problems. Hooray - one less thing to worry about!
LOL
Julia
Hi ladies and congrats to Julia and OH. Have a fab weekend you old romantics - and I donāt mean āoldā old if you get my meaning! Hope the cough is sorted soon - there seems to have been a lot of coughs hanging in there. My manager at work has now developed pleurisy - probably being a smoker hasnāt helped her but it started as a cough and then chest infection - so do be careful and definitely get it all checked out.
You will all see my new bedroom āfeature wallā now that Iāve updated my profile - hope you like it. I have also uploaded a load of photos so may get round to changing them more often, well, possibly
Off work today when I should be at work as I had a terrible nightās sleep with my palpitations giving me hassle for hours. Not sure what exactly caused them but they do seem to be worse when I am getting a lot of acid reflux/burping, which I was all day yesterday. Eventually they have gone but they are so difficult to deal with even with the medication. I saw my GP yesterday and all blood ābitsā are OK except cholesterol which is a bit high but a lot lower than it was last time it was taken so hopefully that is under control. BP was ridiculously high when he took it but I took my own monitor in to be checked against the official one and they were pretty much the same so it does seem to be āwhite coatā syndrome as all my readings at home have been OK. Weāre checking it all again in 6 months so hopefully no more needles for a while.
I had heard about the Meryl Streep film - might just go and see that. We saw Up in The Air - George Clooney - this also was very good but not laugh out loud. We saw Nativity just after Christmas and that did make me laugh loads. Whatās really funny is the director just gives the actors a scene to act and thereās no script, she also did āConfettiā, and when you bear that in mind itās even funnier - but its a bit sad as well - in a nice way!
My feet have just recovered from Saturday so have all the other aches! We were all complaining about our knees etc as we danced to all our old faves - how different we were then!
Take care all, hope the mammo wasnāt too squashy Lisa, and all the other tests being done are not too challenging - and thereās us all thinking treatment had finished?
Nicky xx
ps Love your bedroom Lisa x
Good news Julia - we were posting at the same time so I didnāt read your news.
N x
Hi ladies
Just a very quick one, as have been busy all day and am just about ready to sleep now, so will catch up with everyoneās news another time.
I also read Juliaās post and just wanted to add that in the end, my coughing was put down to acid reflux, and believe me, I had been coughing persistently for about 8 months before they diagnosed this. So much so that I even fractured a rib. Since Iāve been taking medication for this the coughing has all but gone.
Hope you are all ok, those having tests are fine and sending Lorraine lots of cyber hugs.
xx
Hi,
just a quick reply. Well done Julia and glad they have worked that out for you. Now you just have to get rid of the bloody cough! Lisa and Nicky the rooms look fab and make me want to decorate. No they make me want to make Victor decorate actually
Nicky is it the wine starting the palpatations again as I seem to remmebr you saying alcohol affected you before. I get acid and have to be very careful about how late I eat, especially chocolate or I am sick in my sleep, so horrible. When I was preggers I had high blood pressure and I think just having the sleeve round your arm sets it off. You just canāt stop thinking about it and then bomp off it goes racing away. Maybe your bad acid attack came from eating or drinking late at the party? Gets me every time Hi Peacock x
Well I have a cold and they drive me potty. I am working hard on not coughing as if I let one start it takes forever to go. I have taken a lemsip in the hope that I will nod off despite the constant drip and big sneezes. That was my thanks for going to help my Mum who was bed ridden with her cold and then thought she was better and went out so I had to go and rescue her. Oh well you canāt not help so sniff I will have to grin and bear it. Son has a new (only to him) car so once the documents come through I can stop driving him around again hooray. Lorraine has had to have the drain put in again and is having terrible trouble and pain in the lower regions, still from the chemo I think, and still in hospital poor old love.
Better be off take care
Lily x
Hi everyone
Lily- I actually didnāt drink that much on Saturday due to my constant presence on the ādancefloorā LOL However I was getting a lot of acid reflux on Monday for some reason, it happens every so often and seems to be linked to the A Iās. Typical, Iād just told my friend who stayed over with us on Saturday that the tablets were doing fine! Anyway all back to normal now thank goodness, so back to work. Hope the cold isnāt too bad and you can keep the sniffles and coughing to a minimum - guess you are counting down the hours now until half term?
I eventually got around to texting Lorraine and she said she is hoping to see her onc tomorrow (ie today) - still sounds like she is not getting on at all with either chemo or general pains, poor thing. Hope he does turn up - sounds like itās a bit hit and miss from earlier comments from her about followups etc.
Take care all - we had a blast of snow yesterday evening but nothing else happening with it atm - itās just teasing us! Hope itās not too bad as YD is back on Saturday for āReadingā week ie half term. Then we have to drive back with her the following weekend to move her out of one place and into the next - what fun - a quiet drive with no arguments in Paris - hooray
Nicky x
hi all, sorry for absence stayed at friends last night and had a nice time, but curious now, my two best friends text me to ask me to keep two days free but need to ring them to find out why but will only tell me a little as its a secret, cant be anything big cos they all have lots on and children - maybe its a nice meal as my final night out before the big operations lol!!!
Julie great news - i was totally freaked out about my cough from whooping cough as it went then came back and lingered for months and my friend who had it (and no immunity) went much earlier - but without realising its gone - maybe it still takes us much longer to recover.
Big squash was defo a squash nothing like it being lifted and slapped on that cold plate - doh mummy dearest asked me if they done both sides - dohhhā¦
Well love the photo Nicky - we have frost this morning but i want rain or snow because then my friends partner is painting my hallway and dad putting new door handles on but only doing if rains as they work outside if its fineā¦ rain dance i feel.
Speak to you all later, lets hope Lorraine gets something moving today xx
oh its quiet hope everyone okay??
Well my friend wont divulge what they are up to but apparently i have to pack a wee case for two nights away and they are paying, not expensive and i have to take along some 80s gear!! hum, well i think it might be something like a butlins adult weekend 80s theme??? dont know really wierd as im the organiser and they are enjoying keeping it secret from me, makes me realise what fab mates i have, they are doing it cos i wont be able to do much after operation etc. how sweet.
Well better get some beauty sleep i do need it and hope everyone just busy xx
Hi Lisa
Well Iām OK - so I hope everyone else is! We all know what good mates you have - including your cyber ones LOL! Sounds like fun though - sit back (or stand up) and enjoy it! I took a great CD to the party I was at on Saturday which was āDisco Feverā so although a few years earlier than an 80ās theme we really enjoyed dancing to it and remembering where we were the first time round with all the tracks! Interesting Hope the 80ās theme, whatever it involves brings back some good memories for you and makes some new ones. Photos Please!
Hi to everyone else, as Lisa says, hope you are all busy. Lily must be cheering as itās Friday and half term beckons.
Iām off to work today and then picking YD up from Heathrow tomorrow with OH, having had a nice lunch out en route in Windsor - our little Valentineās celebration. I managed to save a load of money yesterday by buying some shoes and boots in the last bits of the LK Bennet sale! I canāt justify buying stuff in there at full price but they did have some brilliant reductions. The boots are more for next winter but I will wear them a bit now and the shoes are lovely black evening shoes which I needed. Better work hard to pay for them!
Have a fab weekend and a lovely Valentineās if you are out celebrating - especially Julia and OH - 40 years - wow!
Nicky xx
love the pic Nicky! and glad to hear you are feeling better. My friend who suffers a lot with acid reflux was advised to put a book under the the end of her bed so the feet end is slight higher maybe worth a try? Have a fun weekend with your daughter.
Lisa well it all sounds very mysterious! how exciting hope you have great fun whatever it entails. and well done on the squasing aghhhh!
Lily thanks for the update on Lorraine and lets hope they can give her some comfort soon poor love. thinking of her.
Peacock hope you are keeping well and have a good weekend.
Julia good news re the cough hope it clears up soon have your tried manuka hone and lemon? may help a little and manuka honey builds the immune system up.
Well girls I am sitting here freezing as we are having a new boiler put in and the cement has set enough to continue with the work until tomorrow so NO HEATING!! aghhhh thankfully the job is being done by a friend and we are now staying at his house to sleep. So I am having a mini bed and breakfast break 5 mins from my house. Makes a change!
I havenāt had any of the results back yet re density scan or pelvic scan will report back when I do.
Have a good weekend everyone.
love Bev x
Evening ladies
Everyone has had a busy time in the last week or so, what with anniversaries and birthdays. The pictures of Nickyās and Lisaās rooms are great, Iāll try and post one of our new bathroom. It is so nice to be able to say that, after living in a mobile home with no bathroom for so long, its just lovely now to have one.
Julia and Nicky, how is the reflux doing? Hope you are both not suffering too much, Lily how is the cold/cough? Bev what a good idea to have a mini break while the heating is being sorted, I wish I had had that idea during the last 2 years whilst weāve been building, never mind LOL.
80ās music is my favourite era, I just love it. It just makes you want to bop around doesnāt it. Nicky hope you manage the drive in Paris ok.
How is the weather for you all? Itās been really cold again here although we havenāt yet had snow, just below degrees temperatures for a few days. So much so that this morning our water pipes were frozen, so had yo get the hairdryer out to defrost them, then we kept getting power cuts!
I had the results of my blood tests today: cholesterol up slightly (so must cut back on toast & butter in the mornings), tumour marker down from 27 to 22, diabetes check better than 3 months ago, but, there is definitely a problem with my thyroid, probably the reason why I am feeling so cold and tired all the time and canāt lose weight. I am going to see the endocrinologist on Monday so will see what she has to say. Anyone else had thyroid problems before?
YD has taken her exams for 2 days so we await the results after the holidays.
On a sadder note, my friend died on Monday, I was shocked as it was so quick from getting the news that things werenāt good.
Anyway, have a good weekend all and hope it isnāt too cold for you all
xx
Hi,
Peacock I was very sorry to hear about your friend and I think if it has to be, then quick might be better for them. Still such a shock though and it never really sinks in, human spirit always optimistic.Well I bet those tumour markers cheered you up and stopped you worrying about waiting for the next test, brilliant that they are so low. May they sink right down into their boots and never pop up. My bossāBc has triggered thyroid and she had to have a radioactive implant to kill her off as over. Canāt lose weight well, I donāt want to disappoint you but I have no thyroid to balme and well not a lot moving!! Hope you have better luck and keep us posted how you go. Good luck to your daughter with her exam results.
Lisa I agree your and Nickyās rooms looked very smart and made me think about doing some here. Victor not very keen. How exciting to be taken away to a trip away with friends. We are going to a 70s place with a Saturday night fever style floor for Edās hen night plus a dreamboy stripper! I have never seen a stripper so not sure if I find it hilarious or plain scared I might get picked on and photos taken argggh. Oh miss we saw you on utube! When you have your recon you will have the pleasure of an extra squeeze or two on the mammos boooo.
Bev I am surprised at propping the foot of the bed up as I have to keep my head much higher or it starts. Maybe a different sort of problem. Good luck with all your results and hope that heating is back on very soon. I have been freezing this week and have an extra heater as well as the central heating on when I get up.
Nicky, would have loved to see you going for it on the dance floor. I love it and plan to spectacularly bad this weekend at the wedding. Have fun with littlun back home. Has she strated spouting French in conversation yet when talking to you?
Texted Lorraine and her neuts are under one now so still in, drain is out and she says she is in great pain. I suggested a second opinion but that is not for her, so suggested asking for neulasta jabs to bring them up. I hope someone is speaking up for her and rattling their cage. I always have the urge to look for solutions and I am very bad at just waiting. Poor old her.
Sorry I did not get on last night. I had parents evening and talked non-stop from 4.15 to 7.45 can you believe that? Ha ha I am expecting jokes about this!!! Worst thing was I kept guzzling juice as my cold was really heavy and couldnāt get to the loo. Neraly burst and reckon I could beat the world record for a non-stop wee by the time I got home lol. I couldnāt go before I left as I was the last one and they were locking up. Hooray I am on holiday but with a mountain of marking but have not booked much up so going to take it easy mainly. One of the little boys in my class said to me today āyou really donāt look 50 miss, I thought you would be in your 30s.ā I have of course referred him to the optician for immediate help or could it be he is trying to tell me has done something bad hmmmmm. Time will tell. Had dinner out on Thursday with the tank top terror, remember those stories!! Yes he does still love me, hug me, kiss me whenever he can and we now have clenched long embraces as he wonāt let go!!! Dinner was nice though
Take care
Lily x x
Hi
Really sorry to hear that Lorraine is still having so many problems - I havenāt sent her another text yet but Iāll get in touch later to give her some support.
Also a very sad time for you Peacock with your friendās death happening so soon but I do hope she didnāt suffer too much, I suppose thatās all you can hope for at such a terrible time.
Are you sure you didnāt talk any longer than that Lily? Funny that you were the last one to leave At least you have a break now, even if there is still work to be marked.
OH and I picked up YD from airport yesterday and luckily no disruptions so it was all nice and quick. We (OH and I) decided to have lunch out en route and booked a table at a small bistro in Windsor as a Valentineās treat. We had a mooch round Windsor 1st which was nice, but very cold and then went to the bistro. We walked in and who was sat there having a meal but Andrew Lloyd-Webber! Well, if was good enough for us it was obviously good enough for him LOL A very nice place, weāve been there before, lovely food but no silly prices - just perfect! A quiet night in with YD watching Revolutionary Road dvd which was very good.
Hope you are all having a nice weekend. Very cold here and a bit of snow overnight but nothing settling YET - even though it tried a few minutes ago with some heavy snow.
Nicky xx
May I gatecrash, quietly, to let you ladies know Iāve been following your thread for news of Lorraineā¦Iām sure Iām not the only one.
Iām just so, so sorry to hear things have not improved for her.
xx
Hi ladies
Lorraine, I wish you the best and hope that your treatment soon brings some relief from all your discomfort, and hope that you are keeping up to date with all our messages. Keep your chin up!
Iām off to the hospital tomorrow, to see my endocrinologist/diabetic consultant.
Itās been a quiet weekend, and quiet on here too so hope youāve been having a great weekend.
xx
WEll ladies you may have your get-to-gethers here in the UKā¦but āpeacockā and I may be meeting up in the back waters of Franceā¦only an ideaā¦but if all works outā¦we may just be able to make it happenā¦fingers crossed. Love to everyone, Val
Hi,
to oldies and newbies, everyone always welcome on our thread.
Lorraine said today she was feeling low and scared. I felt like driving to the hospital and kicking up a fuss for her. It seems to me like she is getting very little attention but then what do i know from texts, so maybe thats not fair to judge them. Lorraine says I should believe and trust in them. I totally understand that as i am very docile myself when on my back in a hospital bed but I feel like a raging bull for her right now. This is making me feel very sad. Her hubby was going in today so I urged her to get him to rattle their cage. I mean why canāt she have neulasta or equivalent if her neuts are the problem or a transfusion. She is her usual kind gentle self and far more patient than me.
Val how fantastic if you and Peacock meet up, let us know how it all goes. Peacock good luck with your appointment and hope they can improve things for you. Hi Belinda we have spoken in the past and will try to post news on here, hopefully something better.
Nicky and Lisa I think we need to keep talking to Lorraine as it must be lonely in a side room and with such low neuts she may not be able to see the boys. Nick how exciting to lunch with a celeb, must have been great fun ear wigging. Have fun with littlun.
I have just come back from a wedding, we went to the evening reception. It was fascinating to think it will be Edās wedding before long and watch all the things going on. It was my friend with Bcās daughter. Can you believe someone wore the same dress as her!!I am now concerned the same might happen to me. She did not mind but I think I would.
Speak soon
Lily x
Hi Lily, yes Lorraine has always struck me as such a patient gentle lady from her postings. I will continue to check in hereā¦I hope for better news. Take Careā¦xxā¦(this is such a lovely supportive thread buddies)
hi all, soz had no computer access all weekend! hope everyone okay and will catch up later.
Text Lorraine and sheās feeling very low and scared - scared about having another chemo after how bad it effected her but the need to fight on for her family. Will keep in touch and update you all.
Speak later xx
