Morning all. Looking forward to my first day off Letrozole and hopefully getting rid of bladder problems. Bit worried because doc said, “We need to rule out bladder cancer, um, I mean cystitis.” GP had already ruled out cystitis, which I’d told her. Checked my symptoms and they are the same as for spread to bladder, but it is v rare and my symptoms only started on Letrozole, so hopefully ok.
Morning Mf.
how come your coming off Letrozole? Ive also come off them and your right they do cause bladder problems I was always running to the loo and I had a water infection for the first time in my life …im starting to take my new tabs on monday ive given myself a weeks break from any tabs and felt my self again im gonna give the new tabs 3mnths then back to oncologist and decise do I or dont I carry on with taking tabs these are a lower strenth but still showing all same SE but every one is different will let you know… what tablets are they gonna give you now?

Ha ha the Christ should have been Christine! Surprised it wasnt bleeped a drink had not passed my lips…that’s tonight! Lol Have a good day everyone. Lots of love and smiles x x
Hi Christine. They’ve taken me off Letrozole for a week because of the blood in my urine and bad bladder pain. Have to ring onc’s secretary Monday to say whether bleeding has stopped. I imagine I will see onc and be given different meds, though from what I’ve read they all have similar side effects. Marcella
Mornung Sheena
just call me christ or god of all rads lol ! Strange how these tabs make you pee more …I also had blood in my pee when I had water infection too…I just thought that was normal for urine infection strange how one tells you one thing and another dosnt …its never ending is it…think these darn tablets are doing more harm than good x

Sheena,I’m in a similar position to you - didn’t have chemo, which would have added 4%, due to allergies, and Letrozole adds another 4% with the kind of tumour I had, so worrying to knock off 8% total. Re blood in urine: in my case it’s not an infection as had negative test; GP says it’s due to Letrozole.
10 down, 15 to go. Big hugs to everyone, some of you sound like you’re really going through the mill xx At my review meeting on Wednesday, I showed the Snr. Radiologist the aloe vera gel I have been using, he said it was fine but it doesn’t moisturise my skin so asked me to use a moisturiser as well. I have used E45 for years so used that one. By Friday, my once white skin was bright pink, very hot and my scar looked inflamed. Have gone back to using the gel and it has all calmed down again.
Maria_B hope the last 6 go well, keeping writing, I want to know what happens when it’s all over! Happy weekend everyone xx
Nearly half way Nappinggirl ,nearly over the hump.
Hi Sheena. I do wonder what to do. I’m sure I’ll be offered a different Aromatase Inhibitor when I see the oncologist…

Try using aqueous Cream - it looks like E45 cream but isn’t. My radiologist said I should use that not E45.
Good morning all. Had a better night last night, only up twice. Wonder how long it takes for the tablets to get out of your system hot flushes woke me up again ? I’ve been using aqueous cream during rads and my skin is holding up really well. I can’t use E45 as am allergic to it. I did try some aloe Vera gel at the start but it made my skin sting so had to wash it off. Hoping to catch the train with our bikes today to the coast and then going to bike back. Will let you know how it goes! Need to try and lose a few pounds this week ready for my holiday! Have a lovely Sunday all xxx
Hi Sharnie. I looked up what happens when you come off Letrozole (can’t remember if you were taking this but it’s what I’ve just stopped taking): dizziness, nausea, headaches, sweating, depression, insomnia! One article said it took four days to get it out your system, the other said it varied but definitely within two to three months.
Morning mf
I havnt taken my letrozole now for one week and ive felt great still the odd headache but the yawning my head off at lunch tome has gone I feel myself again my joinys stoll ache when getting out of bed im not running to the loo all night …I supose if staying off them the joints would get better in time …ive even notices I havnt had the bad stabbing pains un my boob just a aliught twinge but not on a daily basis…it just goes to show what these tablets can do to us… im gonna start my new o es tomorrow aee what SE they bring. Not lookkng forward to it though gonna try for three months then if not good im coming off them was talking to a ftiend who works at cristies hospital yesterday she said if you were inly grafe one and your lynthnoids were clear when they removed them dont worry about not taking them if they told you it was just a 1% chance she said she aeen loads of people come off them due to SE …she said people even come off chemo because cant do the SE…

Hi Christine. Really good to know you’re feeling better off the Letrozole. Since stopping them yesterday, I’ve stopped having blood in urine and the bladder pain has reduced enough for me to get up and do stuff, so that’s a relief. I’m stage one but grade 3, which is probably why it adds 4% to survival in my case. I’ve read that 25% come off the meds because of side effects. Hope the new meds are better. Marcella x
Christine ,you have very low percentage increase like me ,I have 1 % or 2% over 10 yrs.The percentages are a lot more significant for some people though.Im guessing even the Onc wouldn’t recommend continuing if you have no quality of life on these tablets.
Morning Jill
true and every one is different I did say to the oncologist Do I really need to be taki g these tablets ?? And he looked at me and said No ! asked me to try new lower dosage for 3mnths then said come off them if still no better…Im not looking forward to another three months taking them bit these are a lower dosage…x

Well if you give it a go at least you will have tried all the options.
I keep hoping joint pain will go,walking my dog is becoming a chore not a pleasure.Tamoxifen does appear to be a lot kinder than the drugs you are taking post menopause though.
