Essex Girls!

Hi Daisy

So far I am not at all red or sore but slightly swollen! This is only week 1 of course, may be well done burnt and crispy by the end of week 4!!

Hi to everyone, hope you are all well. Hope to see you all Thursday.

Hx

Hello all - I am on the scrounge!

My Y10’s are preparing for their mock GCSE Drama exam and want to set a scene in a hospital but are short of props. Does anyone have any medical items they want to get rid of?

I have bits left by the District Nurse that I never used, tweezers, dressings and my empty syringes, but anything would be most appreicated. I am going to ask the chemo unit on Friday if they have anything they dont use, not the chemo itself obviously!

So, if you have ANYTHING please bring it with you Thursday. I have volunteered to be their patient, so no needles required!

Hi
I saw I think the lady you all talk about under Prof Davidson, think her name is Pricilla? Dont know her sir name but she saw me instead of Prof D >Anyway I went through all the side effects i have and mentioned my breast hurts and feels more swollen , she felt around and other one and then felt neck and other glands i think! Not sure what she was feeling, Anyway I mentioned my eye having a flashing light go down the side of it and she said its not a normal side effect so i am having a brain scan! Great! So one more thing to worry about! think she is marking it urgent so as may get it done before next chemo, but i am going away mon to wed so bet its then! I suppose she is thorough! Said breast was ok just early days after op and it will be painful and swollen still, oh well jst got to put up with it!
I am seeing Prof D on the 6th before my 6th chemo! Said I should get a letter from Radiotheraphy in July.
I am looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday eve about 6,30 ish
How was 1st week at radio p Helen?
Daisy/Sharon , have you seen Pricilla? Think you have is it Dr leone?
I think you had another scan ,she wanted it?
Well i have a daughter who has come back burnt from 3 days at Yarmouth one side of me and Shane the cat tne otherside!
see you Thur eve Love juliexx

Hi,
looking forward to seeing you all, sadly B cannot come as I totally forgot it is a parents evening and she has to attend. I managed to miss that one as no classes in that year group. My son passed his driving test today and is over the moon. I think he will use a whole tank of petrol just cruising to visit friends and show them his car. Bliss no more picking him up late at night and dropping him at work at 6am on Saturdays and Sundays.
Daisy I need some inspiration, what sort of things? Will have a look about. Julie I am very sorry to hear that you are being sent for a brain scan, which must have given you a lot of stress and worry. Will be keeping everything crossed for a good result and an end to your worry x. Helen hope the microwaving is going ok, and that you are getting on ok with that journey each day. I went to the bank at the start and got bags of small change and pound coins. Costs a fortune.
See you Thursday

Hi everyone. I have finally managed to sort my computer out and get round to posting on the forum. Hope that you all had a nice meal last night. I am currently enjoying my ‘day of rest’ as I am only on a 4 day week at present. Looking forward to my daughter coming home from uni in th morning, though will prob be moaning by the evening about the amount of ‘stuff’ she leaves all over the place.
Best wishes to all. Sandra.

Welcome Sandra

The evening out was good and the food better than next door, company as always great. Hope you will be able to join us next time. I was sitting next to you at HR. You will soon sort out which of us is which.

I’m just sorting out last minute things for my hols on Sunday and shop for a few things tomorrow.

Tracey will speak to you tomorrow to see if you are up to the race. Helen will meet up with your friend and daughter on Sunday. Not sure if you have been before but the traffic queue is massive so leave plenty of time to get in.See you there.

Hi all - I have partial electricity, but no lights, fingers crossed the electrician is back later today. Looks like the overdraft is about to take a hammering!

Chemo 5 went well, just took ages as usual, but they are very busy bees.

Write more later as my man is here!

Hi All

Lovely to see you all Thursday, shame the others couldn’t make it (Daisy, Tracey, Angela & Bev - we missed you!)

Flora - If I’m not too late, have a good holiday.

Daisy - Glad no 5 went well, nearly there! Hope you get the lecky problem sorted soon.

Lily - We have done the race before and therefore plan to leave loads of extra time before. Will phone you, or you phone me when we get there. If I don’t answer its because I’m still driving or stuck in traffic!! Forgot to mention to you, my friend that you’ll meet tomorrow lost her Mum to bc about 5 years ago.

Julie - You look great, love the hair!

Tracey - Hope to see you at the race if you are coming, if not hope to catch up with you soon.

Sharon2 - I think you are doing a fabulous thing organising the Pink Party. If there’s anything more I can do, you have my number so please give me a call.

Hi to everyone else, welcome to the site Sandra (I sat next to you at the meeting before last).

Love and best wishes to all
Helen xx

Hi everyone old and new,
hope to catch up with the rest of you very soon. Helen I am scared stiff about tomorrow as my feet are hurting and I have new trainers! Tracey is not feeling up to the race so my youngest daughter is doing the race for her and will walk with us too. The other 2 daughters are going for a personal best and will probably be back before we get up the first hill. Quite a few paople going to cheer me on so I have a horrible feeling I might end up crying a lot. Oh well better out than in I guess.
Daisy hope you are behaving with all that romantic candle lighting going on and that full services resume soon. I guess you had an old system when you moved in and the storm was more than it could cope with? What a pain. Can’t believe you are on numero 5 already. Well done.
Julie have a fab holiday AGAIN you lucky thing. Sharon2 I will sort that letter out next week as we have visitors descending from USA and the race tomorrow. I think your hair is going to be wavey when it gets longer. It looks just like Bev’s did. I popped in to see Tracey this evening. She must have been working her socks off day and night as it looks like she has been there for years not just a few weeks.
Enjoy the weekend if you can

Hi,
anyone got a cure for aching feet? My word they hurt so I am trying to tiptoe everywhere as under the heels hurt most lol. Well I am really pleased I completed the race for life but the hilly bits and rough ground was quite tiring. Helen’s friend kept me going by pretending the finish was closer than it ever seemed to be. I believed her EVERY time lol.The 2 little girls skipped off fairly quickly and then we lost my youngest to try to run it so I was glad of her company. You were all with me, written on my back so I was thinking of you all.Tracey thank you for the place in the race and my youngest ran/jogged it with both your names on her back plus mine.

Hi everyone

Race for Life was a lovely day, fantastic atmosphere but extremely emotional. Lily - you did really well, my friend was glad of your company too! I have a few good photos, so I’ll let you have copies when I get them developed.

Sharon2 - I phoned the Helen Rollason about getting a letter sorted out with my name on, so that i can show potential prize donators, they said it was fine to just show the headed paper. They asked me if you want the event publicised in their magazine or on the website, I gues you probably have that in hand but if not give them a call, I spoke to Ann, she was very helpful.

Julie - good luck for numbero 5 this week. If my brain is in gear I’ll give text/ call you before.

Daisy - hope you have your electric sorted out and are recovering ok after chemo.

Just to let you know tickets for the ‘Masked Ball’ on 31 October go on sale next week, I have reserved a table for 10 of us and so far I have the following names on my list:- me, Julie, Sheila, Angela, Sharon2 + 2 friends, Tracey and Lily…think that makes 9. Could you please let me know if you still want tickets and if anyone wants to fill the 10th place. Tickets will be £40 as we are filling a table, if I can’t make it up to 10 then the tickets are £45 each (includes 3 course meal & entertainment). Lily perhaps you could ask Bev if you see her? I will have the details next week and think my friend is happy to accept a cheque from everyone.

Well, I’m on week3 of rads now and all ok so far, saw one of the Prof’s team and she seems quite please with my skin etc (not too frazzled yet!!). I’ve rambled on enough for tonight so will say ‘bye’ for now.

Love Helen xx

Hi all - have been off for a while feeling sorry for myself! Nothing like a bit of ‘poor me’ time. Chemo no 5 was harsh, nothing nasty, just battered my body more than usual. I spent almost 4 days lounging in bed or on the sofa, very unlike me.

The electrics issue and now redundancies at school are looming has just made me feel very blue, but, hey-ho, never mind.

Well done to all of you that completed the race, you should be very proud of yourselves.

Got my planning appt July 28th, hoping to start two weeks later. I bet my first zapping will be Aug 10th…yep, my 40th!

Love to all.

Daisy xxxxx

Hi,
Daisy sorry to hear the chemo is building up steam, I think Sharon2 found that as well. Try to build in more take it easy time till you finish if you can. I know it is not always that simple but the heat and chemo are a bad combination. Always come on here and have a good moan if it helps. I used to all the time, oh still do actually
Why the redundancies? Can’t imagine they would reduce the tough job you do and the Disability act should help cover you too.
Helen I would love to see the photos. I have some too. I couldn’t even look at you as I started as I was booing just from the atmosphere there. Glad I did it and hope lots of us can do it next year together. You can all carry me as you were all on my back this time lol. I haven’t done the letter yet, really sorry but the Americans descended again and that always means lots of guests and food, also got exams to mark by a deadline. Keep forgetting to ask B about the ball and sat with her today too, my pea brain!
Hi everyone else, enjoy the sun
Lily x

Hi all,

Daisy, sorry to hear you are feeling a bit down, it’s not surprising though. Just think, one more chemo and then you’re done!! rads is really not bad at all. Helen, hope you are doing okay with the rads, have you nearly finished? I’ve lost the plot as where everyone is as usual.

Sharon2, hope you are having a lovely well deserved holiday! and Sheila too.

Lily, you did so well on Sunday and I’m so sorry I was unable to join you. I think it would be great if we could all do it en masse next year! I hope your feet have recovered now, you should of come round, Ralph seems to like your feet!

I had my check-up yesterday and actually got to see the Prof.
I had a 2hr wait in stifling heat and by the time I got to see him it was lunch time and he was tucking into a large piece of cake!
He has put me onto six monthly check-ups now so I guess that must mean he is not too worried about me! Have got a mammogram in August and will probably see surgeon. Next time I see Prof. it will be xmas eve!!! hope he doesn’t expect me to bring him a present.

Have had one of my ‘usual’ hectic weeks with everyone giving me cause for worry like they do. Even little Ralph joined in by vilolently vomiting making me think he had swallowed a stone again, turned out to be gastritis. He has made a full reovery thank goodness, that was a swift £80 but well worth it.

Sorry I missed the last meet-up and hope I can join you for the next one. Hope everyone is well

Hi everyone

3 weeks of rads out the way, 1 more to go! Not sore but looking a bit red today. I love the heat but combined with wearing a wig or headscarf does not mix well!!! Maybe its the hot flushes that have started to kick in, who knows… but I am bloomin’ hot!

Julie, poor you. It’s horrible if you feel ill while you are having chemo. I felt a bit light headed on my last two, but think that was because it was so stuffy and oppressive in the chemo unit. I had a lovely day with my friend in Suffolk thanks, glad you enjoyed your weekend too. Try not to let yourself get down and fed up, we all get those moments but like you say, come on this site and have a good moan.

Tracey, good to hear from you, good news that you don’t have to go back until Xmas eve. Hope to see you soon.

Daisy, good to talk to you today, glad you are feeling a bit better. Enjoy your day at the wedding tomorrow.

Sharon2, enjoy your holiday, you’ve certainly got good weather for it. I am sure you and your family need the break.

Hi to everyone else, keep well
Love Helen x

Hi everyone,
Helen I did not realise you had 4 weeks of rads, still nearly there. I would never have made the 4th week as I was on fire during week 3 and my skin smelt burnt when I touched it. Wonder if anyone has ever spontaneously combusted lol! Your hair will soon be back in, hopefully for the end of the summer. I found mine looked much more when i used an organic dye on it as it blocked together better. Can never work out how the hairdresser cuts my hair and I end up looking like I have twice as much?
Oh Julie, I can remember just how you feel. You must tell someone (did you at the time) that you feel dizzy and sick. It happened to me when I changed drugs half way through. I thought it was really scarey and thought something really nasty was going to happen. From then on I had to have piriton in case of a big allergic reaction. It makes you sleep through the chemo and afterwards so not a bad thing reading your post on ‘steroid eyes permanently open’.We all used to do jigsaws at night as they keep the mind active but you can sit still and rest.I really think you should tell them. When I did they stopped immediataly and waited till I recovered and then gave it to me much slower. If they push the drugs through too fast you can go really yuk. Had to have mine through a drip so that it was smoother and on the slowest time setting.Have you got something for the heartburn? I had 3 different sorts by the end.Not sure whether to hope your appointment comes through soon or not? Hoping you will not be poorly for too long on this dose and will soon be back out of the dark hole smiling  .
Tracey never thought of Ralph for foot therapy, oh well next year then!!I think we should all do it together in some sort of costume next year, any ideas? Glad your check went ok, any little genms from him? bet it was hot in there waiting too. B is on 6 month checks too, not sure why I am not and maybe better not to ponder over that one too long or silly ideas might start popping up. It may of course be because he likes to talk to my hubby about his new house. I see him again in July because my lovely surgeon wants to leave me for 7 months and prof likes 3. Had to catch the summer hols:( so no day off. What were your tumour markers and blood counnts like?
Daisy hope you are starting to pick up a little. TAC seemed to get the others more in the later ones, whereas FEC seemed to rollercoaster up and down. Take it easy, Sharon2 got hijacked to Broomfield for ages after her last one and we used to have to tell her off for walking into town. Sharon2 tell Daisy to become a sofa vegetable:) Will get on to letters asap.
Flora, hope Canada was fab.
Lily x

Morning all

All well with me and am no longer feeling sorry for myself or sitting in my room wailing about how unfair life is!

I am resting up and being sensible, drinking lots of water and staying out of the heat.

Hope everyone is feeling good.
