Essex Girls!

Hi girls
I hope you are all keeping well and that you are recovering well Diamond. I can’t believe how much better I feel this week. I’m no longer feeling sick- however my taste seems to have changed completely- I seem to be living on cheese and peanuts!
My hair has started to fall out today so I guess it won’t be too long before what’s left has to come off. This time next week my 2nd FEC will be over- they have promised to monitor my anti-sickness drugs so hopefully it won’t be as bad next time.
Keep smiling everyone
XM

Hi Everyone

Well ladies on chemo , you are doing so well and being very strong and brave. best way to deal with it all, well done and hope you are not so sick!
Helen I am thinking of you and hope the eye dont feel so bad today and not so bruised!good luck again for Monday too,xxx
I went to Lymphoedema clinic today and got measured up, I have mild Lymphoedema and been given exercises to do, like you Sharon, and advice, so back in 3 months!! so annoying! I will forget to do the excercises,
I went to see Oliver last night , excellent show !
I hope everyone is ok and what date shall we all get together 28th or 29th?
Love to you all juliexxx

Yoo-hoo…big claps for the newbies on chemo…Keep going! It will soon be over with. I can’t believe my last one was July, time has really flown.

Helen - OUCH!!! Hope you are healing nicely and not too sore.

My hair has decided to return curly. Think of the 80’s perm, when wet! When it dries it resembles a teddy bear. Add on swirls on top like a Walnut Whip…not what I had expected, as my hair has always been dead straight. Colourwise it’s boring brown with shimmery silver (like that??) temples…NOT GREY!

All ok healthwise. I have finally found a nurse at my practice that can give mny Zoladex implant without me wanting to leap 10ft up in the air as it’s rammed in.

My new job is great. The Y11’s are out til Mid Jan, on study leave and work exp, so it is pretty quiet. 6th formers are a delight and a novelty to me as I am so use to dealing with little toe rags. I only work 3hrs a day, moving up to 20 a week from Monday. Will see how that goes.

My Dad is over from Spain at Xmas and it’s his birthday on the 29th, so if we could do the 28th that would be fab, if not, I will join you on the next one.

Love to all… Daisy xx

Hi Essex girls , starting chemo at Broomfield on Tuesday 15th (3 FEC then 3 tax)…

Help!!! any good shops in Essex for bandanas and head scarves . I will be going to Studio 9 to choose wigs on Saturday but i would like some alternatives.

Thanks

Alicat

Hello everyone

Lots of new ladies on the site, good luck to you all on your chemo journey!

Hi to all the original Essex girls hope you are all ok. Sorry to hear that both Julie & Sharon are suffering with lymphodeoma - painful not to mention annoying! How are the rest of you all doing? Flora, how’s things with you? How many more to go?

Well my eye seems to healing quite well, still sore though although bruising gone right down. Back to see the consultant on Monday, he will take out stitches & give me the histology results - eekkk!!!

It’d be lovely to see you all, 28th Dec is the best date for me as I am taking my daughter to a panto in Southend on 29th.

Love to all, keep well ladies

Hi All

Alicat - I got my headscarves in charity shops, H&M, BHS, Tie Rack and off Ebay. Make sure you stick to cotton as silky will fall off. You also need to be thinking of a sleeping cap as your head will get cold at night. I got mine off Ebay and it was by far my best buy! If you want to know some sites, PM me and I will send you their names.

Helen - good luck at the hospital, I told Julie T about you, she is trying to get in touch but you keep missing each other.

Keep well everyone! My house is FULL of germs, I need to move into a hotel!

Hi Daisy

Thanks for your message. Don’t want to be funny but would prefer it if you didn’t discuss anything I post on this site with anyone else outside our group. I haven’t told my daughter and hadn’t even told my Mum until last week about my eye. This could have been a tricky situation, I had hoped to keep it confidential.

Thanks very much
H

LOL@Helen

Not sure why I found this so funny - but you do realise if you post here nothing is private or confidential. The whole www can read what we post and I guess that would include your daughter or mum.

Hi hope all is well with everyone.

Diamond 99 I keep trying to txt you but evrytime I go to do it something crops up or I am so tired I forget sorry but you know where I am if you want to talk.

Work is really heating up at moment and working right up to xmas leave 4pm!. I am making an executive decision that we mee ton the 26th for those who can make it at 6.30 at M&C - See you there.

Hope chemo is not too bad for those going through it. I looked back in my diary to last year and this time last year was having sesison 4. You get through it and think did I really do that!!!

Love to you all Sharon2 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi,
sorry not to be back sooner but I could not get on the site. Keep well all you chemo ladies. I was ordered to have the swine flu jab at the weekend along with everyone living with me. Trundled up there, it was very tiny but boy does it nag you afterwards. Bad news is that they are insisting I have a second booster in 3 weeks time. The rest of the family were amused. Anyway at least I can feel I am covered now as it has been in my class at school again.
Helen I hope we all understand why your young daughter would be tip top on your mind to protect. At her age they are better off not knowing anything they cannot fully reason and understand. It only takes a news article or something on tv about someone dying of cancer and they think that is the case for everyone. It is so much easier for me having a more grown up family. Hope your eye is ok and not uncomfortable and that we can catch up soon in person rather than by phone.
Speaking of which Daisy you picked Boxing Day!!! I have the whole family celebrations going on both days with a change of guests so definitely a no go for this executive I am afraid. Flora thank you for sorting out my posting problem and I could have just been off for yonks! Some miht say good thing  In single figures hooray!!!
Tracey and Sharon hi how is the shopping going and must catch up as I can’t make Daisy’s day. B sends her love to everyone and wants to see you

Helen - PM for you. Daisy x

Hi I must have had too much wine last nite I meant to say the 28th December at 6.30 at M&C. I must find out if I need the swine flu jab as I am a front line worker going into people’s homes where hygiene is not always the top of the list!!!

Love Sharon2 xxxxxxxxxxx

I had mine 3 weeks ago, husband is very ill with swine flu, I am so glad I had the jab. My nurse said you are not fully protected for 3-5 weeks, so best have it done ASAP.

I am off work today with a sore throat, cough and temperature. Could just be ordinary lergies or a mild dose of Swine FLu. Who knows?

Daisy

Hi,
hope you are getting on ok in the snow. My road is like the Arctic and very difficult to get up the hill. I have had one big skid already and don’t want another. I don’t think I can do 28th in the evening as I have a house guest arriving that day. They are here for 2 nights and I have the hospital and another batch of relatives arriving for the day too. Will ring.

Hi Girls
I hope you are all keeping well and warm in this horrible weather.
I had my 2nd FEC on Thursday and it was almost as bad as the first. I ended up having a long ride in an ambulance to Broomfield at 4 am in the morning in a snowstorm. Spent two days in this time not 4 as last time. I am feeling a bit more human today- although the hair has all gone and my taste is non existant.
I hope you all have a great Christmas -Keep well
XM

Hi
missm I am really sorry to hear that. I am assuming it was sickness and disappointing that they did not manage to sort it. One of the local ladies used to be sick on FEC before she even got home and had to take 2 different sorts of anti-sickness tablets each day straight after chemo. Nag them for more as they start off with the cheapest ones. Hope you feel better in time for Christmas
Hugs

Hi

missm - so sorry to hear that you have been so poorly. Hopefully you will feel a bit better for Christmas. Pineapple & mint imperials helped me with lack of taste.

Hope everyone else is ok and no one been stranded in the snow!

Merry Christmas everyone & keep well
Love H x

Merry Xmas to you all.

Sorry to hear the chemo ladies are suffering, I found sherbert lemons, tonic water, and fruity lollies helped ease my sludge-gob.

Hope you all have a nice day today.
