Yes I was already menopausal aged 47 and was on HRT ( several variations over the years) and had to stop with my diagnosis. The oestrogen suppressant Letrozole is not without its problems. I’ve been on it a year nd going to be asking for a 4/6 week break this weeks to see if some of the side effects are the medication or something else.
Glad your assessment was good @pineapples123 like you I just want it started now, I think the fear of the unknown is worse than the reality. What time are you in tomorrow? I had my PICC line in earlier and like @mrsjelly other than the initial local going in it was pain free, feeling a bit tender this evening and have bled a little but not so bad I have to take any pain relief. If I don’t hear back then hope all goes well with the PICC and your first session
Thank you for replying.
Im sure I will find this thread useful.
I will look in to your suggestions for sure.
And thank you for the welcome.
Already it helps when you can just pluck up the courage to post!
Hello @tigertot
Welcome to the support network.
It’s really helps having this group.
Know you have additional challenges with children with addiction needs, especially on your own & dealing with all this now must be overwhelming for you. It’s understandable to feel anxious.
Hope you have good family support. Having an autistic granddaughter myself I know first hand how difficult it can be.
Which area of country are you?
Hope your first session goes well for Friday x
Hi @wba ,
thanks for your reply and understanding.
Really appreciate it.
I do have good practicle support from family. However, nothing that helps me on the emotional side. I do find it very hard to ask for emotional help, or any kind of help for that matter. As ive been single for so long , I’m use to dealing with mental health alone.
I deal with it by doing meditation and chakra balancing, and looking to ramp that up with some Reiki. .
I’m located in Worcestershire, by the way.
Pleased to meet you.
Hi @zoemac i have my picc line put in at 9 then straight to chemo unit for 10.30. So we can message from our chemo chairs. I think they must all recline too.
@wba hope your session goes ok too
@tigertot pleased to meet you and hope you find this forum useful. I definitely do.
Thanks for all the support from everyone on here. I’m finally getting started ( hopefully) I never ever take anything for granted now.
Xxxx

@pineapples123 hope PICC line went ok?
It’s going to be a long day as 3 meds today and lots of info to take in, glad my husband was here first thing as he’s like ‘rain man’ when it comes to retaining info!
Feeling very grateful for family, friends and this group to have support at the start of this journey, I hope everyone else has a good support network x x
Hi all
Sitting in chemo chair with cold cap
On. It’s cold but actually more bearable than I thought so far anyway. Trying to distract myself.
PICC line was fine going in.
Had anti sickness tablets and steroids.
Quite a few people in unit.
Xxx
Good to hear your picc line went in ok.& you’re ok so far & cold cap going ok as well.
im not hooked up up until 2.15 hopefully you will be finished by then,
I know I’m there 3 hour’s with just the Paclitaxel & steroid.
@zoemac
Yes, it is a long day , my first one was 5 hours with 3 lots of drugs going in.
Hope all going ok for you.
Keep us posted.
You probably still be on when I’m hooked up later.
I’m sure the snacks trolley will do the rounds soon for you.
@wba the nurse had to sit with me putting EC in. But it only took about 40 mins which I was very surprised about. I now have to wait 90 mins with cold cap on.
Everyone lovely. Tea flowing. But I had to refuse last cup as I keep needing toilet…
Hope yours goes ok.
Xxx
Hi @pineapples123 sake as you I haven’t found the cold cap too bad (I run hot all the time so actually kinda liked it!) it’s just a little weighty! Hope you don’t get any rough side effects
Hey @wba yoy’ll be done before me, I’ve been here since 10am & won’t be finished till 5.30 with the cold cap then have swaps to do! Such a long day but sure this will be the longest as the first. Hope you had a speedy session
Hi All,
Hope you all getting on with your treatments?
And not suffering too much
I had my pre-assesment today,And oddly now feel more at peace with everything now I know the actual plan,Timescales and the like-Did anyone else feel this way too?
I was very confused following my oncology appointment last week …Wondering how many times I had to go in for treatment etc.
But the Nurse today helped me get it into my head
Now I’ve got a clear plan,It seems much more doable in my own head.
I am still working at the moment,So find it hard to check in with you guys as much as I would like to,
I finish work on Monday ready for my first cycle on the 14th-Happy Valentines Day
So am hoping to check in more after that,
Sending lots of love to you all
