@dkc66 @wba Thank you for the welcome! It really makes the journey easier when you can talk to people who are currently going through this as well! šŸ©·

Hello I joined yesterday and am starting my chemo on 10th February. It really does help to be able to talk to people going through this. Everything is happening so fast which is good but itā€™s hard to take in when one minute you think you are absolutely fine and then you are facing this isnā€™t it.

Hello @pineapples123

Thank you for the welcome. I am hoping to try the cold cap but the oncology have said they will try their best but they only have 2 so I really hope they can work it for me.

Hi all
@dkc66 I am starting on EC on Thursday so good to hear not too bad so far for you.
@anb1 i hope you can do the cold cap. It would be unfair if you canā€™t as most people get to do it if they want to I think.
@mrsphughes77 was your cancer estrogen positive and her 2 negative. As they seem to do surgery then chemo for that type . But if itā€™s her 2 or triple negative they do chemo first then surgery.
Thinking of you all on this thread . Itā€™s great to share experiences.
Xxx

Hey! Yes, my cancer is/was PR/ER+ and HER-. I also had a high reoccurrence rate of 33.

Mine is her2+ and Iā€™m having chemo first then mastectomy and they said further treatment

I was so shocked when I was told I have a high chance of recurrence. I dont really understand how they come to that conclusion. I was too scared to ask my actual reading, i just know it was high. Throughout all this trauna thats the one thing Im still stressing about most. Consultant said the chemo and tablets will reduce the chance but it is still a worry.

Same here! They gave me the genetic testing which came back negative :raised_hands:t4:. But, the oncotype dx test came back with a high score. I was flabbergasted but Iā€™m glad to know so that I can plan accordingly and stay vigilant! :blush:

Hi
My onco type came back 40. That was a shock. I was expecting to have chemo as I had multi focal . I had 4 tumours . 26 mm 20 mm 7 mm and 3 mm. They were grade 3 so most aggressive. I had breast cancer 10 years ago same breast but a slow growing one. Grade 1 ( my onco type was 18 for that one so no chemo just radiotherapy. ) I had lymph nodes removed then so had no lymph nodes to check this time.
I try to see the onco type dx test as telling you if you will benefit from chemo rather than chance of recurrence. So chemo should bring down chances of recurrence greatly.
Mine were apparently only moderately er positive. So although can take tablets to block estrogen , chemo gives extra protection.

@anb1
I think a few people on here have her2 positive.
I also met a couple of people on look good feel better course that were her2 positive. They had finished chemo but weā€™re having herceptin for a year. There seems to be a lot of new treatments also for her 2 positive.
I just keep telling myself that breast cancer is a very survivable cancer. Even if Itā€™s aggressive like mine . It still grows slowly compared to some cancers.
On my look good feel better course I talked to a woman with ovarian cancer. Luckily for her her Gp had been proactive. Sent her for a scan. Mass on ovaries was 9cm by 5 cm. A few weeks later had it removed and had grown to over 20cms. But thankfully they got it in time and sheā€™s having chemo as an insurance just in case any stray cells .

Thank you yes the breast specialist and oncologist seem positive and say the treatment they are starting me on works really well I really hope so for me too. I darenā€™t read into anything as Iā€™m scared stiff about the whole thing. Gosh that lady was lucky wasnā€™t she with ovarian cancer x

Did you have level 3 lymph nodes removed? Iā€™m trying to find someone who did as its not standard and most people donā€™t know.

@Linda_Corinne
I havenā€™t heard of level
3 lymph node. Removal.
Have you had that?
Xx

Not yet but she wants to remove all 3 levels.

Hi
I think thatā€™s lymph nodes in your neck.
What type of breast cancer have you been diagnosed with?
Xx

To all the new friends I have found on hereā€¦
Have Her+ in right breast and Her- in left. So double mastectomy ( lymph nodes in right affected, not left) , chemo now, radiation and endocrine injections for at least 1 year. BUT my lovely nurse who started cancer nursing in 1980 said that yes it is brutal treatment but she was around when the new protocols for HER+ came in and it was a ā€˜game changerā€™. It used to be a ā€˜poorā€™ diagnosis but now it is not. I hope thatā€™s ok to share ? for any of us who are waking up in the middle of the night (or whenever the road gets rocky for you ) . Hugs to all -
