fantastic news cazzb, so happy for you!!!
Well done you Bella for being so active!
Cat, I have that strange nose thing as well, cant describe.
just back from sainsbury’s, so tired cant move. I’ve been fine since day 5 of FEC2, though today felt an enlarged lymph node on my neck, nothing serious but getting a bit paranoic about it, should show my oncologist next week.
irina, loved the ex’s story - my ex is coming to stay with us for couple of days this week, I’m sure to get similar comments, especially i did put on weight after being size 6/8 whole my life.
Girl, also wanted to ask - to those who shaved the heads - do you put anything on your scalp? Creams? Oil? my skin gets so irritated, I tried baby oil but not much use.
ok lovely ladies, I’ll go now - be well all of you,
kisses,
T
Hi
Just wanted to say thanks to all for support and good wishes!!
XXXXXX
I have some lovely body lotions for my bald pate: Avalon Organics’ unscented aloe which I slap on after my morning shower, and Tisserand’s lavender and bergamot for bedtime. No clue if it’s helping but they both smell yummy. Bits of my hair seem to be growing back since the big shave off, so maybe the lotions are making a difference, but probably not.
Good news Caz. So happy for you. Like you, Lorna, I am day 5 from FEC2 and though it has probably not been so bad physically, there has been the ‘bloody hell who is that hairless sick-looking freak in the mirror’ factor to deal with, which there wasn’t on no 1 - and although I was celebrating the one-third-over idea further up this thread, the prospect of four more treatments is depressing. On a happier note, I am booked onto one of Look Good Feel Better’s great-sounding workshops next Tuesday - two hours of being pampered and given tips on how to make that sick looking freak look presentable, plus a goody bag. Has anyone else been on one? Will report.
Still a bit queasy and headachey, would love a glass of wine but daren’t. WILL be better tomorrow.
Liz
I can sympathise with you all, bt have to say I have come off quite lightly over the course of FEC1 so I am just hoping I wont have too tougher ride on No. 2.
I am going to Oncologist today and to get bloods done ready for Thurs. It’s strange, last week I was kind of dreading it and this week I just want to get in there and get it over with. It’s just that red stuff they put in…it really freaks me out. The clear meds I am fine with…oh well…just have to get on with it!
Irina: As for the sore wrist problem…spoke to someone at work yesterday and they said it was termed as ‘phlebitis’ caused by the strength of the drugs. No advice as to how to help with the pain other than keeping it warm…doh! I will ask Kimo Nurse again this week and see what other tips I can get.
Off for my walk with th dog in the woods now…will catch up withall you loverlies later.
Good luck to all those going for their injections today…hope you’ve got all your goodies in ready for the munchies tonight when thosesteroids kick in !!! lol
Hi ladies
Well, I’ve had my second visit from the stern and scary district nurse for a shot of Neupogen, and my bones feel like they’ve been filled with Pedigree Chum. The scary nurse had her wicked way and stabbed me in the tum with the needle today. She wanted to spike me in my right arm despite the fact I had a right mastectomy and anc - bit scary - but I’ve put her right on that one. I have to make my own way to the surgery for the remaining three shots because she’s told me I’m young, fit, and healthy (be in my shoes, love, and you’ll know how fit I don’t feel today). She left the needle in the box for me to dispose of so will have to keep that well out of the way of inquisitive three-year-old hands and dispose of it tomorrow at the doctor’s surgery. The joys of kimo…
Pheebster, hope your bloods are fine today and that you have a lovely walk with your dog, just make sure she stays away from my doggie-delectable marrowbone legs ;-)!
Hi girls
Glad to see you keep your spirits up and nice to hear abouot everything. I am feeling much better today- after my 2nd FEC last Tuesday this is the first time i felt a bit normal. Still have a wired thingy in my nose though and very tired.
My flu jab day before+ 2kimo+ white blood cell bosster day after prove to be a very tough combination!! Please donot do it at home if you could aviod it!!
Also hear that 2nd kimo suppose to be the worst and things will getting better …
Cat - hope you are doing well, what is Neupogen? Sorry that your nurse seem to a bit of scary. I 's normally scream as loud as i could if the nurse’s bad so everyone could hear me and know that she is a bad one… hehe
A friend told me today that I could get some Manuke honey to help with the immuse system and boost the white boold cell. Just checked with my GP she said it was fine. Think I might give it a go as it 's much better to have it than aching bones.
Hi Girls
Just back from 2nd FEC all ok so far!
Cat are you having jab to boost your bone marrow everyday? I only had one last thursday and mine were ok for me to go ahead today. They are giving me a long acting one tomorrow to make sure i’m ok for No. 3.
Best wishes
Caz x
Hi Caz
Glad second FEC went OK for you, we’re all with you on this one so long may it continue that you feel great! I have to have five jabs of Neupogen this week, so that’s five days after my second FEC cycle. The doctors and nurses all went ahead and made this decision without bothering to discuss it with me or involve me in the process so at the moment although I don’t object to having jabs to help me, I’m fuming because I don’t know if this is an on-going thing that will happen after each cycle of kimo from now on. I will be taking up with my oncologist next week when I see him.
I have to have five shots at roughly the same time each day according to the district nurse, but I do wonder if that was to make her life simpler. Since she’s booted me off her list and told me to go to the doctor’s surgery to get it done, don’t know about the timing importance but have made appointments for more or less the same time just in case.
What long lasting shot are you getting? I’d much prefer that to the five day marathon of jabs!
Hi Girls…
Cat, let me reassure you, you are not being a moaner!! We have nightmares at work with the District Nurses. They are a law unto themselves, and though I hate to generalise, they will do their utmost to get out of a job…hence her comment to you about you being a healthy young wench (which of course, you are, :). As for leaving the needle for your dispose of, that’s a defintie no-no…she should be carrying a sharps box… Mention this to your GP next time you go there - if it was our surgery we would act on that info!
Glad all went ok for you today Caz…I was thinking of you whilst I was waiting for my oncologist appt which was running 1hr over…don’t you just hate waiting, too much time looking at all those leaflets and posters!
Irina: I mentioned the hurting wrist and onc told me it was something that often crops up (as we know) but will disappear in its’ own time, and it is phlebitis which can sometimes be treated with ant-inflammatories and anti-biotics, so you are on theright track to get yours sorted.
I have been prescribed omeprozole this time for the heartburn, and she said I should stay on this for the duration of kimo. Took my script to the Pharmacist and it was a 90 minute wait…so I left it and will dash back tomorrow to collect it all, what’s another trip to the hospital???
I’m having my final drink for this week while John cooks the dinner (well, warms up last night’s left over lamb casserole) and wish you all a happy evening.
Hope you get some sleep Cazz…I was bouncing off the walls after all those steroids!!!
Stay strong girls…
Hi girls
Back from 2nd FEC. Went reasonably well despite having to go and see oncologist because he had not written up the prescription for today’s dose last time, which apparently is normal practice. Only meant to see onc 1st, 4th and 6th FEC usually. long wait to see him in a sweltering waiting room! Then consultation rushed with no time to ask anything! Anyway chemo nurses were fantastic and managed to get home by mid afternoon (the hospital is about 25 miles away)
Cat - agree with Pheebster re your district nurse, she certainly shouldn’t have left you with the sharp to dispose of. Having had a diabetic husband and now a son with diabetes, sharp boxes have been a way of life in my house!
Feeling a bit fuzzy and whacked out, glad my son is cooking tea tonight.
Best Wishes
Hannah
Hi All
Hannah Hope you don’t feel too bad, get as much rest as you can and or need! x
Hi Cat am going for jab tomorrow so will ask my bcn about the injection and you could then mention it to yours. Would save you having to go to doctors each day - and be open to all those nasty germs!! Not a good thing.
I know what you mean about waiting Pheebster, always a nightmare. Hows 4 legged Pheebster? Doing good I hope.
Am having lasagne tonight courtesey of hubby and have got plenty of munchies in ( naughty I know but hey ho ).
Well will sign off for now. Will probably be back later for catch up am expecting a late night thanks to steroids.
Bye for now
Caz xx
Good afternoon ladies…you are all very quiet today, I hope everyone is ok?
Cat, I spoke to our nurse at work today, and she was disgusted by your treatmnt - especially the needle disposal. You are well within your rights to take the matter further if you feel you can be arsed!?
Cazz - how are you today? Guess you must be getting some sleep - you too Hannah.
4 x Legged Pheebster is doing well, thank you. She is laying next to me on her new sheepsking rug that we bought her in Devon from a livestock market…no doubt we will be curled up in bed togther after tomorrow’s FEC. Feeling a bit nervous this time…I think it’s the the thought of that bloody cannula! I know it’s not as bad as we all fear, but it still freaks me out. I’m also hoping the cold cap works as well this time round as last…
Cherrio for now - hoping you are all up and about later on
xxxxx
