I am, officially, STUFFED!!!
Clare and her sprogs will be eating spag bol, salad and yummy puds for days. If I find my wire, I’ll post a pic of dinner as my avatar, it was completely delish, and we did lots of giggling as you would expect.
Although we had told Clare to let us do her housework she’d done it all before we got there, so that just left us to do the washing up after lunch. Silly me, I forgot to put the dishwasher on (sorry Clare!) so there’s a little bit of evidence that we were there, but at least most of the evidence in the lovely food that we didn’t manage to eat ourselves. We had:
Tomato and mozarrella drizzled with olive oil and basil leaves
Melon and butter bean curried
Waldorf salad (I think that’s what it was, but I didn’t actually get to that bowl!)
Mixed leaf salad with dressing
Garlic bread
Spaghetti bolognese topped with parmesan cheese
Pancakes with mandarins and cointreau
A banana creamy, chocolatey pudding thing that was scrummy but I don’t know what it was called
Raymond Blanc chocolate tarte that we were too stuffed to even start
Elderflower presse
Jamaican ginger beer
Wine
Tea (assorted) and coffee
After Eights, but we didn’t manage to open them either.
I won’t eat again for a week.
Thank you ladies, I had a lovely afternoon and it was a pleasure to see Clare again. I think Jamie got a bit of a shock to walk into the kitchen filled with women.
Alesta looked really warm and toasty getting ready to go, with her padded coat and woolly hat, until she got into a soft-top Beetle and took the roof down. DEFINITELY spring!
And I can now read the various posts with the correct accents - rather than reading in my own boring non-accent, I can put a Scottish, Australian or French accent to the relevant posts.
Off to have a bit of a browse and see what’s been going on on the rest of the site.
