I am in a really surreal place.........

Thank you for the update Choccie, I’m so sorry I missed being there. Stranded at home with only our infrequent bus service to help me out :frowning: The feast you all provided sounds so much better than my cheese sandwich. Hope you all had a fun time, it sounds like you did

I am stuffed. There is no way I can go onto the diet forum tonight. Clare THANKYOU for having us. Your eyes twinkled and shone …putting faces and names to people was fascinating . As for the purple non Shee Wee the mind boggles still!! Purple…subtle!!!
This site has been so slow tonight I have been getting more and more frustrated. We made £45 for BCC every bit helps. I will post it tomorrow and the receipt will come to you Clare.
How are you tonight Twinkle? We missed you.
Big Hug to all
Full and sleepy

Sounds like the sort of day I imagined it would be and glad you all had a good time, just sorry I couldn’t make it but lovely to hear about it.

What’s all this about a non sheewee?! You’ve not been sold a did have you Clare. Would be great if a way coulsd be found to share some of the pics you got if people don’t mind, but not sure how you do it - maybe a Clares surreal page (private group) on FB?!

Hope you’ve got your legs up and you’re resting Clare. Twinky hope you are feeling better and stronger, take things easy.

Hope there’s not too much indigestion from the feast and you all get a good nights sleep xxx

Yes a really lovely afternoon and thank you Clare for inviting us (or did we just descend!)

Nice to meet some of the gals which was fun.

I took some photos of the food and the shewee (which is purple!) and will upload and change my avatar to the sheewee tomorrow!

Knackered and off to bed. Sleep well all!

Hi there all :o)

Let me report in as I am still alive…just!!! As it was touch and go for a while, I thought I was being killed…with overwhelming kindness :o)

What a great bunch of ladies and such a huge honour to meet them in person and to feel like I knew everybody immediately although there was great confusion on names and real names LOL. There was Chocolate Muffin, Cackles, Alesta29,ragamuffin and Vercors, opps and me too. Everybody seemed to arrive at once, around 12 ish and there the chattering began and didn’t end till about 3.45ish…The house was left clean and tidy it was a little like the elves and the shoe maker where they hide all evidence but leave some beautifully made things to find…You left everything… I wont have to go shopping for a few days at least.

Thank you for all the fun and the laughs and the most gorgeous food, the kids and XOH all benefitted from a wonderful feast tonight, without me having to lift a finger :o)

You are all most welcome but be a little less naughty next time and don’t leave such wonderful things for me to indulge on, I’ll get even fatter :o)and after you seeing how pregnant looking I am, I’m not sure my body will take it LOL.

I felt great as you all left but by 6 oclock it hit me and I nodded off big time, my legs aren’t so bad tonight, but i suppose it was all that bullying LOL to keep my legs up. Nothing like a gang of women to put you in ur place :o)but I thank you for it.

My son returned with my mothers day present which bought me to tears…I couldn’t beleive how thoughtful he was. i have always said before I died the one place I would luv to see is the terracotta army in china as it has facinated me since I was a child. He said, I can’t take you to china but i bought a friend for you instead. He had only bought a soldier replica for the garden, stands about up to my waist in height and he’s beautifully made with a tray either to put a plant on or as a bird feeder, I guess. So ladies, you know where my snowdrops are in the back, I shall move the wigwam and put him there, so I can see him from the kitchen window.

I’ll say good night after having a wonderful day, thank you all :o) Hope you are feeling better Twinks and well rested.

Night night, sleep well, I know I will…

Clare xxx

Lovely to hear you all had a great time and lots of lovely treats as well. The food list sounded delicious.
Clare take care to give yourself time to recover from today’s excitement and jollities. I would have loved to have met you all. A bit of bullying with the best of intentions, I’m sure, not a bad thing now and again. Shows how much people care.
Twinky, I really hope you don’t suffer too much with your indegestion. I had a bad time (6 years ago)with very strong pains in my back, just as if I was being stabbed with a knife, quite a nightmare. Eventually a daily omeprozole sorted me but woe betide if I missed one! Needed to stay on them a few months after chemo finished. The more recent docetaxel didn’t affect me in the same way although it had its own unique side effects.
Cackles - a purple she wee/non she wee? The mind boggles! I shall await further details!
Hope you all sleep well
Donna

Lovely to read you all had a super time with fun and laughter. Lunch sounds like it was a feast with plenty of food left over for Clare’s family to enjoy.

Well done to all on raising £45 for BCC.

Clare, I’m not surprised you became emotional on seeing your Mother’s Day present from your son, he is a very thoughtful lad. Look after your legs…lots of rest, I hope you sleep well tonight after your happy day.

I’m going to try and get an early night, tomorrow I get the result of my op - I’m a little anxious but not overly so, no point in worrying as it won’t change anything.

Night all, sweet dreams.

At last - couldn’t log in earlier tonight and it’s finally let me in.

It sounds as though you’ve had a wonderful time today with far too much food and hilarity.

I’m so glad you seem to be able to control the leg situation a bit better now Clare, and I know what you mean about being bullied to put your feet up - I remember being made to do that almost at gunpoint at Costa’s at Reading station…

I can’t wait to see some photos - the mind boggles at the purple non-She Wee!

I consoled myself this afternoon by baking an almond and cherry cake. Not quite in the same league as your food today though.

I hope you get a really good night’s sleep tonight Clare - I’m not surprised you’re tired after this little lot!

Jane xxx

I have to admit, I didn’t take any pictures of the people, just of the table! I think alesta got a bit busy with the camera and might have caught some faces, but I think I’ve just got hands and arms. (Deliberately, I must add.)

Clare, small world filled with coincidences. I go to a monthly meeting of assorted BC ladies in Guildford once a month, and we have a speaker or something to do each time. This evening was a lady who did a very interesting talk on creative writing. It was more of a discussion really - we’re not a quiet bunch - but then I’m in it so that’s no surprise really! Her name is Marion Field, and she was brought up in the bretheren. She has written a memoir, called “Don’t Call Me Sister!”, might be interesting to take a look at.

Clare, glad the family enjoyed the scoff. The whole intention was so you wouldn’t have to do any cooking this evening either, so target achieved.

Alesta, I think we have to admit to descending, I don’t think Clare ACTUALLY invited us, but was gracious enough to allow us to invite ourselves.

For those who are interested, it was mentioned that maybe we should try to do something similar next month (when Twinks has had a bit longer to recover from next poisons) and go to a local pub where the food is supposed to be very good. That way Clare doesn’t have to worry about being descended upon.

Hi Ladies

Thank you for thinking of me. Managed some indigestion free sleep last night do hoping for some spoons today after I’ve had a lie in this morning. Sounded like fantastic fun yesterday & I’ve just she’d a couple of tears about Clare’s terracotta soldier. What a beautiful thoughoutful present. I was lucky enough to meet Jamie last party time & he’s a credit to his mother. Both the children are & I hope they realise how much Clare means to us all even though we’ve only been sharing her recently!

I finally picked up the phone last night to call in some help/ company tonight. I came to realise that life is busy for everyone & sometimes you just need to ask rather than wait for people to check in on you or see if you need anything. I’d do anything to help anyone but not good at asking for myself. Anyway the upshot of the phone call is some company & a Chinese take away tonight ( laprozole at the ready) because I need cheering up a bit! My birthday is looming too ( next Monday) so can’t sit around with a long face wondering what the rest of the world is doing!

Clare do hope you’ll have a legs in the air lazy day to recover from your visitors! I will arrange to pop over with cake for a cuppa sometime before my next poisoning (Monday 19th…trying desperately not to think about it) and have a catch up! Thanks to all of you for making her day yesterday with all the travel & food & fund raising too! You are all stars…

Twinky x

Hi Clare
I hope you managed a good nights sleep after all that fun, haven’t seen the UAN thread to see if you did! Jamie’s Mothers Day gift sounds so lovely, and so thoughtful - they do surprise us sometimes don’t they? Your very own soldier, both the terracotta one and your boy
Twinky, I had FEC 4 years ago and I always seem to come out of the ‘black hole’ after day 5. I was really surprised as I sort of bounced back to pretty much normal, so I’m hoping you might be the same. At the time you feel it’s going to be awful right through to the next poisoning but I found that there were plenty more good days than bad. Its no wonder you are feeling down, what with OH away, I felt very sorry for myself those first few days after chemo. Hoping you bounce back soon as well.
Take care all
Nicky xx

What a lovely surprise Clare… how thoughtful and creative. SO glad you had a good day… now take it easy today… and that goes for every one of you! Bossy, bossy… sure that’s my middle name. Twinky hope the FEC-flop departs soon and you feel more like you again.

Hi Clare - glad to hear you survived our onslaught. It was lovely to meet you. Alesta, Vercors and Cackles it was lovely to meet all of you as well. CM it was good to see you again and this time to admire your beautiful straight hair!!! and with a fringe!!! I am so jealous.

As everyone has said the food was delicious and the company great, the only time we stopped talking was when our mouths were full of food. As they weren’t all full at the same time the talking was literally non-stop!

How lovely of Jamie to give you that gift Clare, I also had a fascination with the Terracotta warriors. The wife of a patient I nursed gave all of the staff money to say thank you- I chipped in a bit from my father and bought a garden statue of a warrior. I named my statue after them both. He came with me from Sydney much to the dismay of the removalists as he is very heavy. William Henry has exchanged a clump of Nandina in Sydney for a Hydrangea in London and seems quite happy with the arrangement.

Thank you for having us. Keep those legs up, take care- love Diana x

Hello Clare and the rest of the cast!

I’m not an official lurker Clare, but only found out about you and your journey a day or two ago, and have been busy catching up with all your shenanigans - all 68 pages! Or should that be sheweeagins lol. Purple? I quite fancy the pink one - but then I would 'cos I’m a bit of a pink girl.

My own personal journey only started at almost the same time as you began this thread, and as others have said so eloquently, you are an inspiration to us all.

I’m gutted to have missed the party, but so pleased the day was a success - the ladies on this site are pretty amazing.

Hi Clare & gang,

just popping in to say hi & that everytime i see a “Claredrop” i think of you all, so glad you all had an enjoyable day, i too wish that i lived nearer

Love & hugs

Evening Clare. Are your feet up ??? I hope you are rested after the visitation. My husband found out about the pancakes , remembered he hadn’t had any for Shrove Tuesday and therefore the Cointreau was wielded again tonight. I toddled around nine holes of golf with two patient friends this morning. It was so lovely to be out in the fresh air. I must try to walk more, because I still get tired easily. Your pots have been an inspiration, I shall buy a few more and get planting.
Sleep well and thank you yet again for the wonderful hospitality

Good evening Clare,
Yesterday I was admiring your ceramic pots in the conservatory. Tonight during my pottery class , I was thinking of you. I am a long way before I can produce anything like those pots you have, but one can always dream.
I hope you had a restful day and that you made the most of the sunshine.
Hugs.

Evening all<</p>

I had a lovely day today, full of tears and laughter. I rested all morning and even tried to sleep but the phone was ringing lots today…I think I may just turn it off in the bedroom when I am trying to sleep. It worries some people though and then I get checking up visits, so can’t win LOL

My aunt and cousin came today, I really thought that I wouldn’t see them again, both have been good friends to me during my 20’s and we were always close. I used to party hard with my cousin as she was a nurse in training in London and we used to go to every party going and use the free theatre tickets that used to come her way :O) My Aunt I just used to go and stay with as I loved her lifesyle, she was an antique dealer and I used to go up to auctions with her and then discover treasures for next to nothing, was always interesting. She is a rubbish cook and I always knew the deal if I wanted to eat somthing nice, was to cook it myself.

So it was lovely to catch up with them both and give them both a hug.

Over tired now, snoozed a lot of the evening. I used to go to a potery class Vercors, I was as good as useless but I enjoyed it very much, so it didn’t really matter :o) Your pancakes were to die for Cackles, no wonder your husband felt left out. I finished the banana pudding tonight…Yummy and we had some of that chocolate torte, which was so rich, today with my guests.

My snowdrops are still going strong Sarah, I made all the ladies yesterday go and have a look inside my favorite double ones as they are stunning inside. My husband has planted up a large bowl of mine with crocuses which are in the kitchen just coming out to bloom, so pretty.
The ladies on here are all pretty amazing, often going through far more pain than me, I feel in awe of them, soldiering on… but that to be honest gives you a quality of life which is so important and its why I can carry on for as long as I can. I’ll be useless once my mobility has gone but shall be the whizziest lady in a wheelchair for as long as i can :o)
It was a pleasure to meet you Diane too and yes we did have a laugh and non stop chattering, when our mouths were on a break from overindulging :o)

Sleep is catching me up now, so I will give in and go to bed, I hope you all sleep well

Lots of luv

Clare xxx

Morning Clare.
How fantastic to see your cousin and Aunt. I too remember those London parties and theatre tickets from my days at Guys and Queen Charlottes. What spoilt girls we were, we took it all so much for granted to a certain extent. I used to get fed up with going to the theatre. Looking back it was the days of the heavy " kitchen sink dramas" .lots of tales of social wrongs etc. Perhaps I had every right to get bored!!!
Vercors you go to pottery classes and I will buy your wares!!! Like Clare I never could centre a lump of clay in pottery classes.
I am off to a Cancer Patients Partnership meeting this morning. My contribution to improving care for future patients. The last one I went to was a bit long, but it might not be too bad today. It is very odd being on the other side of the fence. I was known to zoom through agendas quickly. I lose concentration if waffle starts. Watch this space !!!
Clare of the smiling eyes, have an enjoyable day, it was so lovely seeing you. Please please PM me if you need anything. I am so very close by and shop in Banbury quite a lot, my daughter lives out that way.
