Hi ladies , Thankyou for the ‘ other ladies ‘ for jumping on , every single tip is a god send , I don’t start till next week Fec x3. T x3 , Just a couple of questions If I may ,
Does everybody have these injections ? If so when? Also does hair start growing back onT ?
Last one when do we take the loratadine ? Only on T or injections ?
Sorry it’s like a tick list I have on my head , I screenshot the answers so that I can look at them when the time arrives x
Jams ey on fec you usually get 5 daily injections to do and on t it’s usually 7 daily injections to do. Do alternative sides of belly button each day, grab a handful of belly, stuck the needle in plunge down till you hear a click, then release that puts needle back into injection your trust should give you box for needle disposition. I’ve used an antiseptic wipe in my belly before and after the jabs too just to keep everything nice and clean. Also do jabs sane time everyday. Hope that helps a bit ???shi (Oct thread)
Needle disposal … predictive text on here girls ???
Hi all,
Shocked, glad to hear it’s not going to delay your start. I’m also keen to get it started but nervous as well too!
I’ve not been told about having to do any injections, but maybe that’s the F in FEC, which I’m not having? Is anyone carrying on after the 3 and 3?? I’m having the Herceptin with chemo so having 12 more cycles after the EC-T ?
Amy x
Hi Amy I’m having herceptin after chemo and rads , but it will be herceptin as an injection on its own every 3 weeks not with chemo glad to say x
The injections while you are on fec and the are to help get your white blood count and neutraphils back up to try and help while you are nadir days 7-14 ladies, not all trusts give them out, we’ve found on Oct thread some have had them others not. Hope that helps ???Shi xx
Shocked my darling ??it’s ok, I was needle phobic at the start too, you’ll be fine, you only have to do 5 during each fec and 7 during t and it’s to help so I didn’t mind getting them in. You don’t know if your trust gives you them yet, please don’t ???you can do this you are ???just take each treatment at a time, break it down into 3 week blocks and step by step you will get through and keep each other safe and the cc’s on here will be looking after you and we’ll all be keeping eye on you all too ???shi xx
Hello everyone- I have been reading this thread and picking up some useful tips. Had first meeting with oncologist today, will have heart scan and meeting with chemo nurse and start the chemo next week probably. I am having chemo first in my treatment plan, FEC-T - 3 of each and with Herceptin and Perjeta in the T cycle. Feeling nervous and worried how I will cope with it all but have great support from family and friends .
Yes I am jay , was originally thought just rads then after surgery was found to have Her2+ so 3 fec 3 T and herceptin for 12 months and rads , herceptin doesnt start till im in T x
Karen x
Bibi same as me , mine start next week too x
Hello all,
Regarding injections - I have one injection 24-30 hours after each chemo (I’m on FEC-T) given by the district nurse (although you could do it yourself). That’s just what my onc prescribed me.
It might be worth asking for this if the injections are going to be a real problem for you.
I have an anxiety disorder too so perhaps that’s why my onc did it? Who knows!
The injections do give you pain but just for a day or so - but manageable with bath, hot water bottle, paracetamol & ibuprofen.
Hope you all get on ok with whatever injections you have.
Hope your PICC went okay today too - it really does make the chemo easier and don’t get the vein trouble that others have had (well, I’ve been lucky anyway!!!).
Just try to take them one at a time. I give myself treats (eg one week after chemo) as something to look forward too, which has helped me. Unfortunately I struggled on FEC, but I’m still here!
Good luck all - you can do it
Xxx
Oh, shocked, try not to panic love.
I’ve had the IVF injections too - lots of them eh! I think if you can do those then you’ll be fine with the Gcsf ones, I would hope.
Hang on in there - you’ll be fab
Hi jay I Had 2 WLE and SNB I’m october , haven’t started my chemo yet , it’s next week , starting to get jittery now . Have been so positive up till now , geti g too close to comfort , have got Hickman so no nasty vein searching , hoping I don’t have to have the pesky injections every day so reading up on anything that boosts my white blood count x
Is it definite we have then sue as nobody as mentioned them to me , my sisters a district nurse so she will do them if I can’t ( I’ll defo have a go ) I’ve just never been told I’ll have them for definite x
're the injections. I’m on TCH and I had to do 7, last one was today fur this round. The district nurse dud my first one, then I tried to do the second but burst joint tears! Since then me and my hubby work as a team…i pinch the skin, he does the injection bit.
It is scary the thought of the injections, but to be fair - I may be lucky but I haven’t reacted to them at all - like nothing no pains, zero. So please don’t panic. If it’s sore then the advice all the crew have given will work wonders I’m sure.
Day 7 for me. Had a massive high 5 with the hubby this morning- first week survived yeah me!! Celebrated by painting my nails and buying myself some yummy treats from the shop.
Feeling a touch better today - feels like the fatigue and chemo haze is lifting. Mouth still sore - but gel is gel the ooh doc gave me is defo helping.
Just hoping I get through the zero immunity phase now - might just isolate myself this Week!!!
PICCline in and ready to go. Cleaned loads of the house in last couple of days / it’s like nesting syndrome.
I had the injections last time. They are very easy to give and really don’t hurt. I was lucky and didn’t seem to get any SE at least not that time anyway. Plenty of other SE from chemo though.
Ran my fingers through my hair before bed over the loo / oh my work so much fell out so I’ve got a sleep cap on as I’ve changed the bedding v and don’t want to be eating it like last night ! Tomorrow I’m going to need to debut the scarf as the sides above my ears look hilarious ! No sign of wig yet. That hairdresser at the hospital really is useless !
2 days to 2 no chemo. Ladies you will find strength to get through this line you’ve never had. It’s a funny thing the first chemo is one of fear of the unexpected and relief that it’s finally happening. This time it feels more routine. I know what to expect and I’ll get on with it. Not sure if dh will be with me as he’s ended up having to cover a 24 he shift tomorrow so might need to sleep but I’ll be ok the nurses will look after me and I’ve a lift there and back.
We are women, we are ?? We can do this !
Shocked my lovely, please let us know if you are having chemo 1st or if you’ve had your op already and what your grade etc of the ?is, it’s such a lot to take in and you feel like you are on spin cycle in the washer, you need to take it a step at a time as trying to process it all at once can be overwhelming, we are all here and your Mcmillan team will be able to offer you counselling if you want it. Ladies get your look good feel better days booked at your local Mcmillan at your trusts you get goody bag of makeup and they get professionals in to show you how to do your makeup, gives you something to look forward to and a bit of a treat. You are all ???and will get each other safely through step by step ???shi xx
Aliand well done on pic line ???ladies with long hair that you might loose, please look at donating it to little princess trust wigs for kids, your hair goes towards making wigs for children who’ve lost their hair, just a thought so you’ve not lost your hair for nothing you can make it a positive ??shi xx
Hi shocked
Yes they let me out of hospital yesterday afternoon - whoop whoop!!! My neutrophils count came up to 1.18 which was apparently still low but up enough to go home with oral antibiotics. They gave me the injection on Sunday night and since that I improved loads so if you’re offered it ladies I would say go for it. They said not all the time do they send you home to self inject but on occasions they do. Apparently they are going to give me the injection as part of my next chemo round. I don’t know if it’s the injection or the huge amount of intravenous drugs I’ve had over the last 4 days but I’ve got a headache, achy back and the dreaded poops !!! All in all I feel better and I’m home with my little boy which is where I wanted to be!! I do feel like a paranoid freak though every time someone sneezes or coughs and I question the little one as to who in his class has been off school and what with and then ask if he’s been playing with them ?! Never mind - only another 7 rounds to go ?!
Ladies you might want to mix yourselves some thieves oil (helps to keep germs away google it) 40 drops clove bud essential oil, 35 drops lemon essential oil, 20 drops cinnamon bark essential oil, 15 drops eucalyptus essential oil, 10 drops rosemary essential oil then just use extra virgin oil oil as the carrier oil, Just thought i’d Mention it if you’d not heard of it ??shi xx
