January chemo starters ?

Thanks for the reply Fec, i do t know what’s wrong with the bloody thing any how it’s absolutely pales in comparison with you…I wish I could give you a hug. Really feel for you…don’t forget to ask about the weekly thing as a possible option. I’m up again next Friday so I’m guessing you’re Wednesday. Keep your chin up because what I’ve read you’re doing a grand job every time you get through another day xxx

Fec my darling, big hug and :heart:For you and ?keep ?they could suggest lowering the dose, also a lot of ladies have hotbon better with docetaxol another they could suggest is abraxane, make sure you mention abraxane to them as it’s expensive apparently but I think it’s a go to one if people get reactions and usually people are fine on that. Hope that helps you darling and sorry you’ve had a reaction. ??:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Oh my gosh FEC I don’t know what to say - you have literally had the worst time. If I recall you have a little one the same as me which must be heartbreaking for you. I’m glad your oncologist team are taking it serious and fingers crossed they will change things for you so you don’t suffer as badly next time. Your suffering has put my wobble into context and made me realise how lucky I’ve been! They let me out of hospital last Monday after 4 days. I’ve picked up immensely since then and feel really well at the moment even indulging in an Indian takeaway last night! I’m due round 2 of Docetaxle on Thursday and are getting really anxious as I don’t want another 2 weeks of feeling ? and another possible hospital stay! My hair started to fall out on Tuesday so I had it cropped really short on Wednesday but I think I will need to have it razored very very soon as it’s still coming out ?. The good news for me is that I saw my breast surgeon on Tuesday evening and my tumour has shrunk very slightly and feels softer (I’m having surgery post chemo) which im delighted about. That’s after a month of a hormone implant and one round of chemo so I’m feeling positive that the drugs are doing their job! I’m not suffering with insomnia but I am waking up really early which I suppose isn’t a bad thing with a 6 year old in the house! I know I don’t post as regularly as some of you ladies but I do read your threads daily to see how you’re all doing and I do think of you regularly. Wishing you all loads of love and luck for your next round and wishing you all the minimal amount of side effects. Get welll soon FEC ? x

FEC popped in from December thread so say hope this clears up really soon and you start to feel better.  As Shi said ask about abraxane, I’ve been switched to this after two reactions and all in all apart from joint and muscle pain along with constipation its not been too bad. Keep your chin up. xx

Oh FEC that looks so sore - bless you hope it feels better soon.
Really struggling with acne reaction on face. Antibiotics don’t seem to be doing squat at the moment - it’s so sore and itchy…almost feelings like it’s burning at times. Temp is fine. Seeing ONC on Friday - taken a picture to show her at its worst. Just don’t know what to do with myself. Not been out for 2 days, it’s embarrassing ? Tesco delivery chap looked at me why I had the plague.

Hopefully this week will be a better week for all of you ladies especially you  Fec and Tracy not the nicest of runs for either of you this past week.

Well today has been mostly a sleeping day again!! We’ve had people viewing our house this morning so I was packed off to my mums around the corner to avoid any incoming germs and lazed about on their sofa, came home and more sleep on our sofa. Timings not great selling up whilst doing chemo but hey ho just hope we can finish the farmhouse we are renovating before we move - gutted I’ve been out of action on the renovation side I’m a bit of a control freak so it’s all new to me being so hands off.

Have a good evening all?

Thanks Aliand and Fec, I’m going to have a word with the onco Wednesday. I am so surprised at the huge change in appearance of my breast it’s incredible.

So 2nd round ladies…good luck all this week and if we all get our treatment apart from Aliand who’s already done we are 1/3 of the way through!!!

Fec any improvement?

Tracey, are you ok? Xxx

Those of you looking for alcohol free drinks. I have found cranberry juice is good as is tonic water both with loads of ice so very cold and refreshing for a dry mouth. I have had a few glasses of wine during chemo but because of taste changes and dry mouth I’ve only enjoyed them after day 14 or so. I have had a glass or two the weekend before next round mostly. Word to the wise though don’t get carried away, I made the mistake of getting drunk on New Year’s Eve and a hangover is something you really don’t want! I had chemo number 5 three days later and it hit me like a truck too despite bloods being fine.

Hi RosieH
I’m doing well thank you. Had a really good few days since I got out of hospital - lull before the storm on Thursday when round 2 is due! I’m getting all anxious thinking about the next round and the thought of spending 2 weeks feeling ? again!!! At least, unlike some, I’ve been fortunate enough to have a good few days and live life normally.

Im planning on going into work for a few hours each day this week ahead of Thursday which I’m sort of looking forward to!! I’m sure I will soon change my mind after being there an hour or two tomorrow!!! Today saw me wearing my wig for the first time - felt really weird and I was really self conscious in it! I think it’s the fact that it’s a bit fuller than what my normal hairstyle is so I’m going to ask my hairdresser to thin it out a little for me when she shaves what’s left of my hair off for me ?.
Hope you’re ok too and are managing to live some kind of normality through this roller coaster ride we’re all on! ?

Has anyone heard from fec? Fec darling I hope you are getting looked after and your se’s behaving better you ???lovely lady ??:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Aww shocked my head at 6 days felt like I had a really tight ponytail in. Twice I went to take it out at bedtime! ?

I’ve found regular Brufen and paracetamol alternately have helped with the aches. And I made myself her up and do something which has also helped me too it may not help you. 4 more days of injections !

Awww Shocked - hope the aches and pains settle soon. I will admit I havent too bad on filgrastin so far (touch wood) - but when it was sore I found using my extra long hot water bottle helped. Got it from Amazon ages ago and it wraps round my neck and shoulders - might be worth a shot?
TCH day 15 - My acne face is settling…ish. still pretty sore and looks awful. Got my Dads funeral Wednesday and was hoping it would be cleared by then…but not looking likely. Still - hair on my head is hanging on in there for a minute.

Thanks ladies - yeah its a pretty rough time at the minute - but as my 6 year old keeps reminding me “just keep swimming mummy”.
Rosie, I’m the same - cold capped and so far my ‘head hair’ is hanging on in there, although the rest appears to be departing quite rapidly!! Im getting a funny itchy feeling in my head, no pain. Just trying to leave it be. If you don’t mind me asking what treatment are you on? How far in?

EC two day 7
Gosh had a rough night these injections are causing me more problems than the chemo !
3 days to go. Got my picc line care today so think I’ll mention it while I’m there.
My hair (the stubbly bits left) are still a bit sore thankfully it’s the top of my head so unless I pull my hat or scarf down I can ignore it.
Crazy times hope your dad’s funeral goes really well tomorrow. What a stressful thing for you to have to cope with though will be thinking of you tomorrow.
Going to try and keep myself going today. I think I feel worse when I’ve rested with these injections. Weird !

Keep swimming girls x
FEC still thinking of you x

Crazytimes Im on Docetaxal 2nd session is Friday. My hair is deffinately coming out but all seems from back and the hair closest to my scalp around my neck if that make any sense. The nurse thought that might happen as I have thick hair and the cold cap couldnt freeze that bit…

Aliand Im not looking forward to those bloody injections again either.

Keep swimming ladies xxx

Ah me to Rosie - Docetaxel and Carboplatin for me, (plus herceptin). My second is Monday - so not far behind you. So far in not losing too much from my head…fingers crossed x

Morning ladies , just been reading the thread back , I have read if I have to injections to take Claritin with them , to counteract the pain ? Seems to be on the threads a lot x
I had ECG yesterday so already to go for 1 st FEC on Thursday xx getting jittery , fear of unknown x

Jamsey, sucking ice lollies while they put the red bit of the fec in can help preserve your mouth and also loratadine is good to help with bone pain and Epsom salt baths ???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Thanks dealdoh , I’m sure your right , just need to get this one under my belt , I’m going to keep a diary as suggested so I can look back each cycle xx

Good luck for Thursday Jamesy. You will be fine…and I expect you’re very well prepared xx
