July 2024 chemo starters

Oh @fluffy888 tinnitus is a symptom of menopause I’ve had it on and off since peri. Luckily its taken a backseat. Made way for chemo instead. Insert rolling eyes emoji here!

@jayveebee oh I didn’t know that. It started when my reflux was bad and causing all of the problems and on the side I always lie on to sleep and assumed the reflux was affecting the whole lot. I never knew menopause caused it as well, but I’m not surprised either. I know what you mean about it taking a back seat. It’s the least of our problems at the moment.

@alisona1 Sorry I can’t say anything to help but I totally sympathise with you and send you love and hugs. I know exactly how you’re feeling. I had my first Docetaxel last Monday and it has been far worse than the previous 3 x EC’s. Totally floored with fatigue and I have had really bad diarrhoea and awful mouth problems with thrush and ulcers but after coming on here and getting advice I contacted my chemo helpline and they prescribed Fluconazole and Difflan mouthwash. I’m slowly coming through it and feeling a bit better each day but at the weekend I felt totally broken and like you didn’t think I could possibly do another cycle. Hold on in there though it does get better, we will get through it. Just take one day at a time, rest as much as you can and accept any offer of help. Sending hugs :hugs:

Yesterday was a good day but this morning… omg my baaaaaack :sob::sob:
@idcand49 yeah i get hubby to do it right before i go to sleep. Im in a lot of pain this morning and im panicking that im gonna end up back in hospital. I reeeeally dont wanna do that. I dont currently have a temperature which is good. Gonna take some codeine in a sec and see how that goes. They tend to make me feel sick and sleepy so i may have to arrange for someone else to do the school run this afternoon. So frustrating :sob::sob:

This docetaxel seems to flooring us all! Had first one last Tuesday, by weekend lots of bone aches and pains, then temperature high yesterday morning and have been admitted to hospital for 24 hrs IV antibiotics. Fed up with this!

Hope they get you sorted and you can get home soon. I had my first Docetaxel last Monday and finally feel today on Day 10 that I’ve turned the corner but it’s been a horrible week with loads of side effects.
@zaran hope you’re feeling better. Not sure how many cycles you have left but worth asking about swapping the 5 injections for just 1. My oncologist said it doesn’t cause as much pain and ache as it’s slow release but it’s a lot more expensive which is why it’s not routinely prescribed.
Sending hugs to everyone. :hugs:

Thank you, temperature went up at latest obs this morning so Dr won’t let me home today :disappointed_relieved:.
On plus side she told me that patients who have lots of side effects show that chemo is working in our bodies & doing it’s job so ladies cling on that all this pain is worth it in the end!

Ive got 2 cycles left. Ive slept most of today haha. Luckily my friend is picking my son up from school! Im pretty sure im just gonna spend the day in bed today. Kept dreaming my heart was racing, didnt know if it was real or not…
Whats everyone elses resting heartrate? Mine seems to be 84 at its lowest and thats when im laying down! It went up to 151 the other day just because i climbed the stairs!!

@zaran Pleased you’re managing to get plenty of bed rest and sleep. Hope you feel better soon. My resting heart rate used to be fairly low at around 54 but now I can be lying in bed doing nothing and it’ll be around 90.

Mines currently 81 lying down, pre chemo it was under 60 resting HR! My Fitbit stats look dreadful! :scream:
Shows how hard our bodies are working I guess

@olli3 @angieb1 thank you both soooo much for replying!! I called the oncologist because i was worried and she wasnt concerned at all. She said the body is fighting hard at the minute so thats normal.
My resting heartrate used to be 62bpm so lately ive been staring at my fitbit thinking something awful is gonna happen. Good job weve got eachother to talk to eh??
My anxiety has been through the roof lately. Ive been so nervous about everything. Its crazy. I think its because i dont wanna end up back in hospital!! And obviously i dont want anything bad to happen. Someone needs to knock me out and wake me up when its done :joy::joy:

Had my 2nd dose of docetaxel today. Was delayed by 2 hrs as they weren’t sure if it was going to go ahead. I’d mentioned my heart was racing and was breathless for about 10 days with 1st dose. I had spoken to a nurse (was meant to be an Oncologist) and was saying about my heart racing just sitting and being breathless when I tried to do anything. Even talking to her on the phone I was breathless just trying to speak. She wasn’t bothered at all, but when I went to the unit today they were. They eventually got hold of an Oncologist (mine was on holiday) and they allowed my treatment today, but have said I need to ring asap if it starts again with this treatment and they might do an echo and poss stop treatment. I only have one left though so they might let me have it. This is the only treatment I’ve had on time. So many ups and downs. Wish I could fast forward the next 10 days. It’s awful when you know what’s coming. Xx
