Wow Amanda you’ve done well with your weight loss x
Fiona, just look online for nutribullet recipes. Most blenders would do. Loads of em. The idea is to have a base of Kale, Spinach or similar then add various fruit n veg, and seeds if you fancy it x
Well the surgeon will guide you about either lumpectomy or mastectomy, if he is confident about getting both out with hopefully clear margins, the lumpectomy (also called WLE…wide local excision) could be the way to go but as you are your husbands carer, the one hit of the mastectomy may be better. Your surgeon can advise you best and about the recovery times for both, but do make sure you tell them that you are a carer .
I have a question about pain after surgery. Just to recap, I had a WLE and SNB on the 11th Sept. From about a week after the op, I have had a general soreness of the skin extending from my nipple up to the scar from the node removal. The pain feels a bit like when you have a fine scratch from something that then gets rubbed but covers all the whole top half of the breast. It seems to be getting worse, but there is no heat, redness, rash or sign of infection. BCN said something about nerve endings?
I will mention this to the surgeon ( when ever I finally get to see him!) but in the mean time, I was wondering if any of you ladies had had anything similar and if so; how you coped with it?
May be worth asking about cording ,feels like a tight cord of skin/ tendons running from boob to underarm or down arm, may just be your nerve endings beginning to heal though ,I found it got more painful as I healed .
Amanda, you might be right about the nerve endings. From my experience, the first week or so after surgery was more numbness/tightness than actual pain. I only started to feel twinges a week or two afterwards when the swelling started to subside and the bruising became less obvious. Naturally I panicked thinking there was something hugely wrong but I think it’s totally normal and. like your nurse says, probably to do with the nerve endings coming back into play. I still have twinges one month on but they are less frequent and I’m used to them now but there are still odd bits to the back of my underarm which are still totally numb and I wonder if they will ever come back (not a major issue so I’m not worrying).
Loving the fact that there are so many 1D fans here tonight even though you make me feel very old. xx
Amanda im sure it will be nerve endings knitting back together, i still get shooting pains several months on , every twinge is frightening but you get used to it and after Rads you are left with a tender boob so i dont bat an eyelid anymore Xx
With regards to recovery. Nikki still has a little discomfort in her arm, seems to be the norm by the sounds of it. The body is great at healing overnight.
Meant to say take some earplugs Barry!!I saw them on the X Factor tour when they first started and the screaming was deafening (and that was just me…)!!!
Thanks PeggyCat, Jobey and Barry, it’s nice to have some reassurance! You kind of expect the worst pain to be at the beginning and then it to steadily get better! It makes more sense now!
Trying a ‘post surgery’ bra rather than crop top today, ok so far! What is the advice as to when or if you can wear underwired bras?
Morning everyone, hope your ears have recovered Barry :smileyvery-happy: glad you managed a night out! Good to have bit of normality isn’t it!
I had my WLE and SNB on 8th September Amanda and have had very similar soreness and pains to what you have described, seems to be easing this week, but still there on and off. Really hope you get your results soon, terrible you have had to wait this long, really feel for you and sending a hug :smileywink:
