Those little bars don’t last long…With the compression socks, nurse told me you only need them when you are bed bound/ immobile once you are moving around the risk is much less.
Ah that’s a relief re.the socks. Haha it’s only chocolate?
Hope you are ok Fiona and back home in your own bed soon with alien invaders removed .
I eat all sorts of fruit, veg and salad but I also eat chocolate and drink wine and gin ???
I heard that gin is good for you, it’s the juniper berries…Hope all is calm and you are looking forward to your sons wedding Jo.
Evening everyone. How are you all? Been reading all the chat re healthy eating which is interesting. Now you all know by now that I’m a rebel, lol, but I’m completely unconvinced that cancer is caused by unhealthy eating or drinking, so no one should feel guilty. Most of the research now points to problems with your DNA not being able to repair itself when damaged, which is a genetic condition. It has always puzzled me why not all heavy smokers get lung cancer and why very fit healthy people, such as athletes, have cancer. Of course a healthy diet, which is of course choccies, gin and Mini Cheddars, will help prevent other health problems and I suppose you have to include a bit of fruit and veg! Joking aside, I think we all have enough to cope with without the food bit. What do you all think? X Francine
I’m with you Francine, sod the kale I’m miserable enough bring on the cheddars !!!
Defo ladies, a little of what you fancy ( this includes Twiglets, chocolate and vodka!!) I do however need to get my weight down for my rebuild so a bit of healthier eating should help. I have increased my veggie intake so that should help xx
Agreed. You can’t give up your favourite things completely. Once in a while treats are what you live for anyway. But that link is interesting and the majority are doable (so says a man).
Treatment has come a long way from just a few years ago. That’s what you need to think about too xx
I think all the things they refer to are sensible things you should consider whether you have had cancer or not.I had another long term chronic illness and I found that certain foods definitely made me worse and I was shocked to find our how much crap is in some foods,I went for food sensitivity tests to identify particularly bad foods for me .I just don’t think that it is helpful to give ourselves too hard a time over what we eat or drink when we are going through such a stressful time already.
My friend is making blackcurrant gin,I have offered to test it make sure it’s drinkable …
Stay add strong everyone. Between now and next week will bring anxiety for some. But let’s beat this **bleep**er! Sending my love xx
Tandy best not to beat yourself up about it. Lean on your loved ones for support. Getting rid of the bugger is the priority for all now x
Hi Tandy, horrible anxious time.Do not give yourself a hard time over anything you may have done in the past , if you look back over our conversation tonight you will see that what you eat etc doesn’t seem to have a direct bearing on getting or not getting cancer .None of us are perfect !!The first few weeks are really really hard but it does get better once you know what you are dealing with and what happens next. You are not alone in dealing with this , lots of support and advice available here.
PS I also had palpitations , even got sent for ECG but was just high levels of anxiety .They are very scary too.
Hi Tandy, it’s not a good place to be , but take hurt we have all been where you are (or we are supporting someone) it does get easier. The worse part is waiting for results. We are just the unlucky ones. Try to stay strong it’s easier to beat it you can. Big hugs xxx
Heart not hurt!!! Xx
Good luck to you today Ange x
