March 2026 chemo starters

Thats really great to hear and definitely interesting. The hormone therapy is definitely giving me the most anxiety now. At 40 years old im torn between, I need to do everything possible that they offer me but also, I’m only 40, what will my health be like in 10 years time after it all! Its a bit different for me maybe because of my BRCA2 status, it leaves me feeling like I dont have much choice but to just do as im told. I think I need to give it a go and if its not working I can look into the holistic oncology.

I did get some good news today :growing_heart: Pathology report - no more treatment needed!!! No ct scan required, no radio and no more chemo. Just my ovaries out and the hormone stuff  Still a huge win today. I know I feel relief somewhere. I think the shock of it all still lingers but once the news sinks in I am going to try and relax a little bit

Great news @foxgem re no more treatment.:heart::heart::bouquet::bouquet::people_hugging:

After all you have been through, its going to take time to sink in, but its in black and white. So treat yourself to something nice.

My friend had hormone blockers and she never had a huge problem with them. After 5yrs she was cancer free and no more blockers. That was 25yrs ago. She was around the same age as you at the time with two primary aged children. They are adults now. Xxx

Absolutely wonderful news to read @clarabelle1 :two_hearts::two_hearts::two_hearts: … wonderful and uplifting

Ah so pleased for you @foxgem - great news. And yes I think if I was younger I’d give the letrozole a go. For me being post menopausal anyway and it only offering 2% I’ve decided to make the lifestyle stuff give me that 2%!

If you ever decide to look into the holistic stuff I can highly recommend Mosaic Medical which is who I’ve been working with. Dr Amy Walker is their BC specialist, she’s had BC and is a fully trained oncologist. She’s lovely. It’s not cheap but I’m so pleased with what I’ve got from it.

Anyway, for now enjoy your good news and continue to recover from all the treatments :+1::heart:

Hooray for no more treatment needed! I hope the release of that news settles in the next few days. Certainly not the end of the road (wherever that is!!) but perhaps the end of a grisly chapter.

@felineoptimist @foxgem @sam1204 @poppy261 thank you all so very much. have to admit after I had done all I could to stay calm for that blood test and thought I had seeing my blood trickling onto the hospital floor threw me right back to having a life threatening bleed in hospital. Thankfully I had the more snr and experienced nurse who when I told her why I was in such a state calmly gathered me up. I had waited before leaving the first time but obviously not long enough.

Took till midday yesterday for me to calm down enough to do anything but shake. Think l will take DH with me on Weds as he can use the chaplaincy area (priest who is known to chaplains as served time as hospital chaplain) whilst l am in theatre. HOspital is over an hour away from our home.

Going to carry on using the college of anaesthetists ‘prepare your mind for surgery’ stuff as I know it helps. Will try and write a short synopsis to give the anaesthetist as past experience has shown I may not be able to speak tomorrow and I do not want to hurt anyone who is trying to help me. have unintentionally put anathetists in A&E minors as I am going under. Done similar to recovery room staff as I come round as I tend to a fight response. keep reminding myself my DD has told me I will be easy compared to some of the addict patients they have to deal with.

Going to buy some garden magazines ( love gardens, long time gardener since I could hold a trowel) to look at in hospital tomorrow. Plan on a long soak in something eczema friendly this evening and quick shower tomorrow at stupid o clock. Have not watched any of Augusts Gardeners World so I can watch that when I do get home. Yes I am thinking of when I get home.

Those of you who have had your histology results back, not ignoring your posts I just need to focus on doing what I need to get through surgery and that means I am only able to give headspace for that.

You are doing all the right things. Taking control of everything in your power. You might not feel it but to me that seems like the actions of an incredibly strong person. We look forward to your message when you are home and watching Gardeners World :cherry_blossom:

Youve got this @wibbles . Will be thinking of you tomorrow, and sending you, love, strength, and positive calming vibes.:people_hugging::flexed_biceps::person_in_lotus_position::person_in_lotus_position::person_in_lotus_position::person_in_lotus_position::bouquet::bouquet:

Arrgh @wibbles not the pre surgery plan I agree but your team have been briefed, your daughter has advocated, and would advocate in future, for you. You have GOT this. You will be safe and cared for. Look at all the challenges so far you have navigated - this is just another step. Best of luck tomorrow. Xx

Sending you love, hugs and strength for today @wibbles .:heart::heart::people_hugging::people_hugging::people_hugging::bouquet::bouquet::flexed_biceps::flexed_biceps::flexed_biceps::person_in_lotus_position::person_in_lotus_position:

Amazing news @foxgem! And you look absolutely stunning on your new photo.

Ah thank you. I had my first hair cut. As short as it could go on the sides and back. The whispy mullet had to go. Now its super short it actually looks better because it looks more like ive chosen a hair style and not been dragged through a bush. And my eye brows are crazy! I am resisting plucking any strays because I cant help but love them all. I noticed yesterday how hairy my arms and hands are also. I think because its all the same length it looks so thick :joy: My hairy girl era and I’m loving it

It all looks very chic, and I can imagine not wanting to let go of one single hair! Are those your natural eyelashes too?

Best of luck today @wibbles - I echo the above!

Hope everyone is doing well. I will shortly be starting radiotherapy. My brows were fully back within 3 weeks of them having all fallen out! My lashes are doing well too. As is the rest of the body hair :joy:

Started Zoladex injections recently. I was so petrified of the needle after reading lots online about it being a javelin etc but it was not as bad as I expected!

Yes eyelashes are growing now also. They are very thick but very short. Too short for make up although I’m used to life without mascara now, I actually like how fresh I look without so much make up

My last chemo date was 18th June so 2 months

That’s great to hear! And I hope the hormone therapy and your ovary surgery go well for you. x

Surgery is booked for 16th September and so far my oncologist is being very quiet so I’m not reminding her of my presence haha

From zoladex (not necessary after surgery) and tamoxifen to anastrozole and ribociclib. I am leaning strongly towards turning down the ribociclib. I know she wont be happy, its a new wonder drug for the nhs. But the side effects are extremely worrying. On top of zero estrogen? For me it just feels too much. I understand the benefits but ive given them my breasts and my ovaries. More than some after breast cancer. Surely that’s enough to cover any extra benefit of the ribociclib? When my oncologist remembers me I’m sure I will find out haha

 When I spoke to my oncologist last week, she mentioned I’d not been discussed in MDT for a while. I went for the mock offended response for fun, but after all the drama with my shock local recurrence throughout May, I’m definitely happy to be uninteresting as far as those meetings go!

Continuing the discussion from March 2026 chemo starters: Hello everyone, I am recovering from my third surgery and am now waiting to start radiotherapy. Just wondering if any of you have started radiotherapy yet and if you have any tips or suggestions for getting through this phase? I will have 3 weeks of it.

HI all and thank you so very much,

Back home sans boob with unasked for lodger and feeling darn stiff from lymph node clearance watching backed up Gardeners World. trying to resist the urge to go out and do the garden as I suspect that could be a mix of the diazepam the aneathtist used pre surgery plus all the pain meds he gave me post surgery.

All staff were prepped and ready for blood transfusions, especially after the blood sugar test bled more than expected, came round in recovery to be told by aneathtist they had not needed to use extra bloods but I did have extra cannula sites in place just in case. Hb is 7.9 so still having to eat meat for now. theatre nurse told me they all rate my surgeon for more complex cases as he plans carefully to reduce risk. Have follow up appointment in a week to reaccess wound in case of severe bruising developing and again end Sept.
